Chapter 11 Fishing

After church Elizabeth gets Jack ready to go with Nathan. Gabe, Allie and Nathan come to get Jack who is thrilled to go. Allie and Jack walk ahead as Gabe and Nathan talk. Finally Gabe asks Nathan about his date and Nathan said it was wonderful and better than expected. Gabe teases him and wants all the details. Nathan dodges some of the questions and by that time they are at the fishing hole. Nathan helps Little Jack who is thrilled to try and fish. Gabe and Allie settle down to do some serious fishing. After Little Jack tires of fishing Nathan entertains him until they all stop for lunch.

Meanwhile Elizabeth is visited by Rosemary who wants all the details on the date. She is impressed when Elizabeth explains how romantic it was and under her breath Rosemary takes credit for this. Elizabeth talks about how they shared their growing up stories and she was thrilled to learn that Nathan had some happy stories regarding his Uncle and aunt. Rosemary pushed for romantic details and Elizabeth blushed and deflected all the questions except to say it was very romantic.

Nathan arrives back with Little Jack who needs a nap. Due to the large catch of fish they decide to have a fish fry at Nathan's and all are invited later.

Gabe stays and helps with the cooking as he loves to cook and Allie helps. Rosemary and Elizabeth bring some sides and they have a hearty meal. Nathan has Allie bring down her old dollhouse for Little Jack to play with. They find out Nathan made it for Allie years ago. Lee becomes obsessed with the closet and latches doors Nathan had fashioned and can't stop looking and playing with them. Once again Nathan and Allie shrug this off as nothing as does Gabe.

The ladies are impressed with Gabe's culinary efforts and he boasts that Italian food is his real love and they tease him about hosting a meal. After much fun everyone leaves and Allie and Nathan are alone. Nathan asks her if she minds having the large crowd over. She tells him while she loves her alone time with him, but she likes being part of the bigger group as well. She says she thinks the date must have gone well as Mrs. Thorton was still involved. While he wouldn't give any details—Nathan agreed with her.
