After waking up later in the day, Jennifer woke up around one thirty. Her mother would be home soon. Jennifer quickly got up and started putting her clothes back on.

"Cheng! Wake up hurry!"

She said nudging him a little by the arm. He opened his eyes a bit.

"What?"

"My mom's gonna be home soon. I don't want her to see us like this!"

"Oh shit that's right!"

Cheng also got up and started quickly dressing.

"Good thing she didn't come in in the morning!"

Cheng told Jennifer. "I wouldn't want her thinking I'm a bad influence."

"Yeah she'd probably freak out and start saying I'm following in the devil's footsteps."

They both chuckled.

After they finished getting ready, Cheng was by the front door. "I hope to see you again soon baby."

"I do too," She replied flirtingly. "Thanks for coming and spending some time with me."

"Anything for you."

They kissed one last time before Cheng swooped out the front door.

Jennifer sighed heavily and smiled before sitting down on the sofa thinking about how lucky she was to have Cheng as her boyfriend. He was her everything. Her wishes had came true. He was amazing. She had promised to help him out whenever he had problems and she was true to her word. What could go wrong?

Cheng arrived at the park Dre was at.

"Aye man."

"Hey Dre."

"Why weren't you at practice today? Mr Han was asking for you."

Cheng paused for a moment.

"Uh I..."

"What dude?"

"Well..."

"Come on man just spill it out already!"

"Okay I was with Jennifer!"

"Ooof course." Dre said rolling his eyes.

Cheng tried to hide his smile looking down, but Dre still saw it.

"Look dude I know she's your girlfriend and you love her and all... Not like I care. I understand this cuz I'm this way about Meiying too... but you can't be cutting practice man!"

" I fucking know Dre but she means a lot to me! She understands me better than anybody! She makes me feel a special way nobody really has before!"

"I'm serious man! Y'know you could get kicked off the team for this?!"

"WHAT?"

"Yeah dude Mr Han don't tolerate that kinda shit man, you gotta try and be more responsible. He said if you did it again he'd kick you off."

Cheng felt ashamed of his actions. For a moment he thought about something. Then he came around.

"Okay..." He responded. "I'm never cutting practice again."

"Good." said Dre and patted Cheng on the back. "Liang and Zhuang are waiting for us we should go find em"

"Yeah let's go." Cheng replied following Dre. A dirty bad thought in his mind as he hurried along.

Mari arrived at the apartment later, sighing. She took off her hair tie letting down her short light brown hair.

"Jennifer?" she called. As soon as she said that Jennifer stepped out of her room.

"Hello mami."

"Hello mija,"

"How was work?"

"Fine." Mari said and placed her face in her hand.

"Mama are you okay?"

"Sit down we need to talk."

"Okay..." Jennifer hesitated for a second before sitting at the dining room table. Mari sat down next to her.

"Look, you know I love you and I only want what's best for you. I am proud of you for doing well in school and helping me out unlike your father Jorge... and I have always been protective of you all these years because I just wanted to see you happy. But when I saw you and your boyfriend together it just caught me by surprise, I never expected to see you like that!"

"I know mom I'm sorry! I will let you know more and try to keep working towards helping you!"

"Just listen to me please... I can tell he makes you happy and you are old enough to make your decisions now so I will accept this relationship."

"Really mom?"

"Yes. Do what you feel is right and makes you happy. Just please don't keep secrets from me."

Jennifer felt guilty yet overjoyed. She had snuck Cheng over again last night, but her mother seemed to understand .

"Gracias mami!" She hugged her mother.

"De nada mi amorcito." Mari hugged back.

Later in the day, Jennifer decided to go outside and try to find Cheng and her friends. She quickly got ready and stepped outside into the cool air. Jennifer texted Dre.

"Where are you guys?"

"At the park."

"On my way."

When Jennifer got to the park, she saw Cheng, Liang, Dre, Zhuang, and Meiying talking by a bench. She hurried to catch up to them.

"Hey guys!"

"Hey wassup Jennifer?" Dre asked.

"Heyy!" Meiying said as she stood up to hug her friend. Jennifer hugged back.

"How are you guys?"

"Pretty good I guess. Can't complain" Dre replied.

"Good!" Meiying also responded.

"Good." Jennifer eyed Cheng. He had been staring the whole time, yet saying nothing. She walked up to him.

"Hey baby..." She started, but stopped as he looked away and walked away from her. Did he really just do that? Jennifer stood confused. Dre and Meiying also looked at each other confused.

"Cheng wait up!" She yelled as she hurried to catch up with him. When she stood in front of him, she could see that mad serious look in his face, she knew something was wrong.

"What is wrong babe?" she asked quietly.

"You made me miss my practice this morning. You almost got me kicked off the class. Master Han is not patient with these things..."

"Oh... I am sorry Cheng I didn't think that would happen... At least you're not kicked off right?"

"You don't understand... I cannot be with you."

Jennifer was shocked to hear this.

"What? Why?"

"Kungfu is also important to me, and I do not want to be with someone who will make me miss it or distract me from it."

Jennifer's eyes filled with tears.

"That's not what I was trying to do Cheng. I just enjoyed having you around. I love you"

"Well if you really love me you'll respect what I want. I cannot have any distractions from someone selfish and I no longer want to be with you. Goodbye Jennifer."

Cheng walked away from her. Leaving Jennifer standing there shocked, confused, and heartbroken. She never expected this. This was not the Cheng she fell in love with. Maybe she was wrong.

She ran off from the park crying. Cheng walked back to his friends Liang and Zhuang. Meiying noticed Jennifer run off.

"Jennifer?" She called after her. When she kept running Meiying glared at Cheng before running after her, trying to catch up.

"What happened?" Dre asked

"Don't want to talk about it." Cheng responded lowly.

Jennifer couldn't believe it. It was as if Cheng had manipulated her just to get what he wanted. She never thought of him that way.

"Jennifer! Wait up!" She heard Meiying's voice call from behind. She stopped in the sidewalk crying her eyes out. Meiying hugged her for as long as she needed to and asked what was wrong. Jennifer told her everything, the sex with Cheng, him missing practice, the argument they had at the park. Meiying looked angry.

"Forget about him! You do not need him, you deserve better."

"Has he always been an asshole?"

"Well actually yes he was to Dre when they were kids. He was jealous of my relationship with Dre. But I knew he wasn't good enough for me or anybody. Like you should know too."

"You're right." Jennifer said wiping her tears away. "I should get back home. I will text you ok?"

"Okay. Love you stay strong."

"You too honey." Jennifer smiled and continued walking back to her apartment building. Eventually she reached it, and went into her room laying down on her bed. Her heart was still hurting but she realized Meiying was right. She didn't need Cheng.

"I'll prove that Cheng wrong." Jennifer said grinning.
