With just under twenty-four hours to get all of the details that they need for the story, the gossip column at The Measure goes all in on exposing this 'date doctor'. Tori believes there might be a connection between this mysterious man and Robbie Shapiro's new connection to Cat Valentine, so they decide they should try to explore that too. Andre is more than willing to help, and calls the number on the card to pose as a potential client. He arranges a meeting with the 'date doctor' the next day at the boardwalk in Venice Beach, and Tori and Jade tag along with him.

Andre waits at the edge of the boardwalk, looking out at the ocean, while Tori and Jade hang back near one of the booths. They're out of sight of their target, but he will be right in their clear line of vision.

"You know how to work that thing, right?" Jade clarifies

"Yes." Tori sighs as she fixes the focus on Andre's camera "It's a camera, not a complicated piece of machinery."

Normally, Andre would be the one snapping pictures. That's why the magazine hired him after all. But he needed to be the one to pose as the client, since the rumors say the 'date doctor' only works with men. So in this case, Tori will do his job for him, watching while Andre speaks with him as she pretends to take pictures of Jade, who will have her back turned.

"Just checking." Jade assures her "This has to go off without a hitch. If we get caught then-"

"Shut up." Tori tells her "I think he's coming."

"Oh shit, okay."

"Yeah, they're shaking hands." Tori confirms as she raises the camera to start taking pictures

"Oh this is great, I can't wait to nail this guy." Jade admits "Make sure you get a good shot of his face."

She of course has no idea who it is that Andre is speaking to, at least not yet. She also has the completely wrong idea about his intentions. As far as Tori and Jade know, this 'date doctor' coaches men and tells them exactly what to say in order to get women to sleep with them. He teaches men how to be manipulative. When in reality...that's not even anything close to the truth.

"Oh, I got one."

"What's he look like?" Jade asks

"Tall, dark, and handsome." Tori smirks "I might actually think he's kind cute, if I didn't know his intentions."

Meanwhile, Beck is giving his typical 'here's how this will go' speech to Andre to see how he will react, the same that he does with all of his clients. If he seems genuine, like Robbie, Beck will take him on. If he seems like he has all of the wrong intentions, like Ryder, he'll leave.

"So tell me about her..." Beck smiles "How long have you been in love?"

"About two and a half years..." Andre sighs "We...well, we work together. There have been other guys for her...but there haven't been any other girls for me."

"Sounds right up my alley." Beck nods "Who was it that gave you my card?"

"Robbie..." Andre decides to take a chance "Robbie Shapiro."

They aren't certain that Beck has worked with Robbie in the past, or is working with him currently even, but Andre had decided to risk it. If they can connect the two, they're going to have one hell of a story on their hands...possibly the biggest of any of their careers.

"He's a great guy, isn't he?" Beck laughs

In just ten seconds, Andre already has all of the information he needs to connect Beck and Robbie. He is the reason a virtual nobody has managed to score himself not one, but two, dates with one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Andre has to hand it to this guy, he must be very good at what he does if he can make that relationship a reality.

"Oh, I can't take this anymore." Jade admits "I have to see him. Gimme."

Tori hands the camera over and switches places with her, and Jade looks through the lens to see just who it is Andre is talking to. When she focuses on his face and sees his true identity...her heart sinks.

It's Beck.

Beck Oliver. Her Beck. The first guy in years she's actually been interested in. He's the mysterious 'date doctor' who is teaching men how to manipulate women in order to get what they want. Everything she thought she knew about him has been a lie.

Has he ever told her the truth? Even once?

"I need to go." She tells Tori, handing the camera back before running off

"Jade, wait!"

But Jade doesn't wait, she's gone before Tori can really comprehend what has happened. She decides to snap a few more pictures, even without Jade as a decoy subject. However, without her friend to help hide her suspicion, Beck notices that she's taking pictures of him out of the corner of his eye.

"It was a pleasure to meet you, Andre." He says before turning to leave "Good luck."

"Wait!" Andre says, but soon realizes it's no use

He turns to Tori and shrugs, but she offers him a thumbs up.

They have all of the information that they need.

Beck tries to ignore the looming sense of doom the photographer had given him as he goes about the rest of his day. There had been plenty of people at the boardwalk, she probably hadn't even been taking pictures of him specifically. Sure, maybe he had been in the background of one or two, but he hadn't been the main focus. Right? That's what he's going to tell himself.

He tries to focus on the evening ahead of him with Jade. With their last two dates being complete failures because of him, he needs to make sure that tonight goes perfectly. If it doesn't, Beck might as well kiss any kind of future he might hope to have with Jade goodbye.

"You're such a sight for sore eyes..." He sighs with relief when he opens the door to his apartment and sees her standing on the other side "C'mon in."

"Why thank you." Jade smirks, walking past him and placing her purse on the table just inside the door

Beck can tell immediately that there's something off about her mood, but he doesn't want to bring it up. Not yet at least.

"What's for dinner?" She asks him

"It's a surprise." He tells her as he closes the door and then moves to hug her

"Do you need any help?"

"No, I've got it covered."

"Oh wow!" Jade dodges his attempt at a hug and moves further into the apartment towards the kitchen "You bought wine! How thoughtful is that!"

"I try..." Beck chuckles nervously, still skeptical of her mood "Can I pour you a glass?"

"No, no." She shakes her head "I've got it."

"Oh...kay."

"Would you like a glass as well?"

"Sure..."

Jade, still seeming a bit too chipper to be normal, pours a glass of wine for each of them and hands one to Beck. A sickeningly sweet smile is plastered across her face as she does so, and Beck begins to feel a bit uncomfortable.

He's not sure who this girl is...but she's not the Jade West he's come to know and like so much.

"Let's see...what should we toast to?"

"Uh..." Beck hesitates "Oh! I know. Never lie, steal, cheat or drink. But if you must lie...lay in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal...steal away from bad company. If you must cheat...cheat death. If you must drink...drink in the moments that take your breath away."

"Wow, did you just make that up?" Jade rolls her eyes as she takes a swig of wine straight from the bottle, rather than her glass "Damn, that stuff is good!"

"Make yourself at home, I guess..." Beck sighs "I'm going to check on the risotto..."

Jade wanders into the living room and lets out a loud gasp, startling Beck even from his place in the kitchen.

"No way! You have one of these?" She asks as she picks up the universal remote on his coffee table "Which one does the music?"

"Uh..."

"Never mind. I found it." She tells him as she presses one of the buttons, causing loud music to start playing through the apartment "Oh, now we're talkin'!"

"Hey, let me help you out with that!" Beck says as he jogs over to her "You gotta-"

"Whoa!" Jade exclaims as she presses another button "It does the lights too? This is really...cool."

"Alright, Jade..." He sighs "What are you doing? What's going on?"

"How does it work, exactly?" Jade asks, a now irritated expression crossing her face

"Well, usually...when a man says he's going to cook a girl dinner...that's what he does. And then they sit down and eat it like normal people."

"No, not that." Jade can't help but laugh "I meant your thriving business."

The emphasis she puts on the word 'thriving' makes Beck's blood run ice cold. She in some way must have found out exactly what he does for a living, and she must be pretty angry about it based on her behavior. Suddenly he thinks back to the photographer at the boardwalk...could Jade have known her? Even worse, does Jade work with her at the magazine?

He needs to explain, but the furious look on Jade's face tells him that she's not going to give him the chance.

"So that's what this is about..."

"Yeah." Jade snaps, folding her arms across her chest "That's exactly that this is about."

"Sorry." Beck shrugs "I don't do interviews. Now, if you'd like to get back to the evening I had planned...I would be more than happy to sit and talk."

"Great idea!" Jade follows him back into the kitchen "You start!"

"Well...maybe I would if you weren't snarling at me." Beck begins to grow irritated

"What if I told you..." Jade grabs a piece of broccoli from one of the bowls Beck has on the counter "That I know exactly what you do! And how you do it!"

With each exclamation she grabs another piece of broccoli and throws it at him, causing Beck to grab a plate from one of the cabinets to use as defense.

"We might need to go out to dinner..." He sighs

"I think you're despicable!" Jade continues

"What the hell has gotten into you?" Beck exclaims

"Don't worry!" Jade sneers "It's nothing a front page story can't cure!"

"Oh that's what this is all about? Cat and Robbie on the front of your gossip magazine!"

"You're the one who put them there!"

"No..." Beck shakes his head "You did!"

"He did!" Jade insists "The minute he called you!"

"I think we're done here..." Beck says coldly

"Yeah..." Jade agrees "I think we are too."

With a very obvious amount of anger, she storms back towards the door and grabs her purse off the table. Beck doesn't watch her go, but he knows she's gone once he hears the door slam. He had hoped she would give him the chance to explain himself, but it seems like all she wanted to do was pick a fight.

This is bad...this is very bad, and he knows it. Not only has he lost the first person that he's cared about in a very long time, she's angry too...and she has the power to use her anger to ruin him.
