Tony ended up being fine. He had some bruising and his medication was switched. Nora had begun taking medication, but she didn't like how it made her feel. She hadn't done anything to upset her family in a while so she just kept quiet. Her other doctor gave her something to try and help the tremors she would get. She still had them but they would go away sometimes. It was the day after homecoming and her children all went out together. Nora hadn't even realized it was already homecoming until after her sons left. She never saw them in their tuxes and never met their dates. "Frasier, could you run to the pharmacy for me and get my refill?"
Frasier didn't want to leave his wife alone, "I can have someone pick it up."
"Please, I'm out. I won't go anywhere."
"Alright, it shouldn't take me long."
After Frasier left, Nora got up and began walking around her house. She took everything in and looked at the photos on the wall of memories from long ago. She focused on herself and noticed how she was no longer the woman in those photographs. She missed her old bedroom and bathroom. She missed her old life. A life she would never get back in the same form as before. Nora grabbed a glass of water and went back to her room. She sat on the bed trying to decide what she should do. Nora decided that it was just time. She took the bottle of her old medication and swallowed the remaining pills before lying on the bed.
Frasier walked into his house and went to his bedroom, "Nora, they said it's not time for a refill...Nora?" Frasier walked over to his wife and found the empty pill bottle. "Damn," he picked her up and took her to the bathroom. He called for the paramedics as he tried to make his wife throw up the pills. Frasier was furious with his wife and felt guilty at the same time. He was able to get Nora to throw up some before the paramedics arrived. Frasier called Sam and had him go to the house and wait for the kids. Ray and Debra were there too. Robert and Amy had to get their kids off the bus and needed to talk to them as well.
"Where are mom and dad?" Charlie asked in fear.
"Before I tell you I want you to know that your dad texted me and said your mom is going to be fine."
"What happened?" Henry asked.
Debra noticed that her husband and brother-in-law were having a hard time getting the words out. She decided to help them out, "your mother told your dad that she needed him to pick up some medication for her at the pharmacy. He went and found out there was no medication. He came home and found your mom on the bed. She overdosed and he took her to the bathroom to make her throw up."
"She lied to dad to get him out of the house so she could kill herself?" Charlie asked. Before anyone answered the children all turned and went upstairs.
After Nora woke up the doctors and psychiatrist talked to her for a while. Once they had let Frasier back in, the couple sat in silence for what felt like hours.
"Frasier," Nora was the first to speak but she kept looking down at her hands that were slightly shaking, "I need you to tell me what you're really feeling."
"I'm fine, Nora." Frasier was a bit short with his wife and he knew it. Nora's psychiatrist came in because Nora had told him about wanting Frasier to react the way he feels and not tiptoe around her.
"Nora, can you explain to Frasier what you told me earlier?" the psychiatrist asked.
"Frasier, I have been feeling terrible since I went on those anti-depressants and I have hated how I felt. I kept having suicidal thoughts that I never had before. I mean I had wished I had died in the crash, but never wanted to kill myself. I didn't say anything because everyone else appeared to be happier and I didn't want to let anyone down."
"Frasier, Nora wants you to tell her your true feelings whatever they may be. She's in the hospital and we won't let her hurt herself."
Frasier looked at his wife with a deep anger she had never seen before and became frightened. "How dare you? I asked you every day if you were having suicidal thoughts so we could change your medication if we needed to. You lied to me. I have admitted that we don't know what you're going through, but damn it we have bent over backward trying to help you. You have always been about sharing your feelings and being open and honest, but when we needed you to be you lied. You didn't even write a note. I came home to find my wife of seventeen years unconscious with an empty pill bottle in her hand. I desperately tried to get you to throw up while calling the paramedics at the same time. The children are pissed too and I don't blame them. You lied to me to get me out of the house in order to kill yourself. I would give my life for you because that's how much I love you. I would do anything to trade places with you because I hate seeing you suffer. I would give you an ultimatum about getting help, but I honestly don't know what I would do without you. The day you woke up from your coma when you had gone back to sleep I stood there terrified that one day something would happen to you and you wouldn't wake up. That would be it and the end of everything. I just don't know what to do anymore and when I ask you won't tell me." Frasier stopped and took deep breaths trying to calm himself down, but his mood changed when he saw Nora silently crying uncontrollably.
He was about to apologize before Nora spoke, "thank you for being honest with me and I'm so sorry. I really don't want to die, and I think you should send me to this mental rehabilitation center my doctor told me about."
"I could never send you away, but if you really want to go then I will help you get there."
"Nora, maybe you could go home and talk to your children before making a decision. I'll schedule you to check in the day after you go home and you can cancel it if you need to."
"Okay," Nora said and was relieved when her husband finally took her into his arms.
Frasier helped his wife into the house and sat her on the couch. He called his children down and took a seat by his wife. He explained what was going to happen next to the kids.
"What does it matter?" Ella asked.
"What?" Frasier asked in shock.
"She doesn't care about us, dad," Lenora said.
"Yeah, everything she does says the opposite," Van added.
"We have all tried to be understanding and helpful, but we can't do this anymore," Charlie explained.
"We're sorry, dad, but we can't help anymore," Henry said before they all walked away.
Frasier could tell his wife was trying not to panic, "Frasier, just send me away. Please, send me away," Nora begged her husband.
Frasier didn't want to send Nora away, but he was out of ideas about how to fix his family.
