Karma's POV: "Karma?"

Karma turned and found Nagisa standing shyly, fiddling with one of his pigtails.

Asano turned to leave, sensing Nagisa wanted to speak to Karma privately. "I'm going to the bathroom."

"What's up, Nagisa?"

"The sky," Nagisa deadpanned.

Karma playfully slapped Nagisa's back. "Aw, come on! You know what I mean. How are you?"

Nagisa shrugged, "fine... Um, I have to talk to you about something."

"Ok."

"Weelllll." how am I supposed to phrase this?

"I wanted to ask you a question," Nagisa timidly told him.

"Fire away," Karma quickly answered.

"What's going on between you and Asano?... Are you two dating?"

Karma almost choked on the strawberry milk he was sipping.

"You think that-me and Asano-are da-dating?" Karma burst into laughter.

"You can't possibly think that-Asano hates me!"

He stopped laughing when he saw Nagisa's face. "You're serious."

Nagisa crossed his arms. "Karma... He might've hated you but now he doesn't. You guys are everywhere together and... I'm not your best best friend anymore. If he hates you and you hate him then what does that make our relationship now?"

Karma just looked at Nagisa. "You're kidding, right? You seriously believe that he's taken your place?"

Nagisa shrugged, "it looks a lot like that." When was the last time he and Nagisa had hung out? 2 weeks ago. Before... before he tried to kill Teach.

Karma sighed, "I'm sorry, Nagisa. I guess I just have been so hung up with what happened two weeks ago and-I, I didn't mean to ditch you for Asano. It's just. He-we... Are more alike then I thought."

Nagisa shook his head. "No no no, if talking to Asano is what makes you feel better then go for it, I don't want to get in the wa-"

"then how come I feel like you mean the exact opposite?" Karma interrupted.

Nagisa sighed, "I-I miss what we had-or what I thought we had with each other: The bonding, the sticking together, the you not keeping stuff from me."

"What do you think I kept from you?"

"Your... parents," Nagisa whispered, "you didn't tell me they were hurting you."

Karma stiffened, "how-what-who told you"

"All this time-all those times you said the bruises were from gang fights, your absences because you didn't feel like going to school"

"The absences excuses were true"

"what percentage of them?"

"95%"

Nagisa let out a frustrated sigh. "I seriously just wish you told me 'I have something on my mind but I can't tell you' instead of lying to me and saying nothing was bothering you."

He turned away from Karma and started to walk away. This could not be happening. Karma had never fought with Nagisa, well except for occasional squabbles and fights about him getting bruises and how he should get help(and blah blah blah) but he had never fought this badly with Nagisa.

"Nagisa!" Karma called.

Nagisa didn't turn around. He didn't even stop walking.

"I'm sorry," called the boy who never apologized for anything.

Nagisa stopped walking.

"I'm sorry for being a jerky friend, keeping things from you, and lying about it."

He took a deep breath, feeling like he should say more.

"It's just, I felt like if I told you there was something on my mind then I'd feel guilty about not telling you and I'd have to tell you and you'd pity-"

he was cut off, his voice muffled in Nagisa's shoulder. Nagisa was hugging him.

"All I needed to hear was that you were sorry," Nagisa explained.

Karma felt a little foolish for blabbing his mind off but oh well. Karma hugged Nagisa back.

Asano's POV: Asano watched them, holding an unopened strawberry milk container he had grabbed at the vending machine that had made him think of Karma. His eyes were narrowed a little.

Was he jealous that it turned out well for both of them?

Yes. He was jealous that when Karma kept a big thing from Nagisa that Nagisa still didn't drop him, jealous of their friendship and how Nagisa could hug Karma so casually. He crushed the full pink milk container in his hand and watched as the pink milk busted through and dripped down the can. He didn't even like strawberry milk like Karma did, anyway. It was too sweet and too strawberry. He tossed the dripping can in the trash and walked away from them.
