Sirius sent Hedwig to Remus. As he saw the snowy owl come towards his cottage, he thought it was a message from Harry, however, he was surprised to see that Sirius had borrowed the owl to do the extra trip. The letter was simple
Moony,
See you in the shagging shack Tuesday night at 8?
Snuffles.
Remus looked at the letter and couldn't believe that Sirius was already back in Hogsmeade and wanting to see him. He was apprehensive about blowing the fugitive's cover, but he was so desperate to see his partner that he got a fresh scrap of paper and wrote
Yes
Remus decided to meet Harry the same night for his lesson.
On Tuesday night, Remus packed a bag with some extra sandwiches, a bar of soap and his tube of toothpaste. He also brought a spare set of clothes and a towel. Remus flooed into the Transfiguration classroom to find Harry sat there in Sirius' old Gryffindor jumper. Remus smiled looking at the boy sat there. "Harry!" he exclaimed.
"Professor!" Harry looked up to see him.
"Harry, call me Remus! I thought today we could focus on blasting curses," said Remus, "They're always useful." He and Harry worked for half an hour on blasting curses, but Harry's heart just wasn't in it. "Harry, what's wrong?" Remus asked.
"Professor, er, Remus. Can I tell you something without getting in trouble?" Harry asked.
"Harry, whatever you've done, you know I will try to help you." Remus replied, nervous for what Harry was about to admit to.
"I know what the first task is" Harry blurted out.
"What? You're not supposed to know." He responded.
"I know. But every contestant knows. We're not supposed to know, but we all know. Professor. It's dragons. We need to get past a dragon. How can I get past a dragon?" Harry asked with urgency in his voice. Remus went pale. A boy as young as Harry shouldn't be playing with dragons.
"Dragons are tough, Harry. You can't stun them or hex them. Their skin will be too thick. Harry, let me have a think about this. It'll take some strategy and forethought," replied Remus. Harry looked at Remus with a lost look in his eyes. Remus could tell that he was panicking about his ability to complete the first task.
"I can come again to see you in a few days. Let me do some research." Remus then turned to Harry and said, "Come here and give me a hug." He hugged the boy tight and said "Don't worry, Harry. We'll think of something." Remus looked at his watch then asked Harry to walk him to the castle's main entrance. Harry thought it was odd that Remus wasn't flooing back home. On the way to the main entrance, Harry asked "Professor, why aren't you taking the floo network?"
"Hmm, Mr Potter. If I'm just your professor, I don't have to tell you about my life outside the classroom, do I?"
"Sorry. R-Remus. Why aren't you taking the floo network?" Harry asked again.
"I am meeting someone in Hogsmeade," Remus replied.
Harry looked around to see that no one was around "Are you seeing Padfoot?" asked Harry in a whisper.
Remus paused. "Oh please, please. Take me with you. I want to see him too" begged Harry.
"No. Not now" hissed Remus.
"Please, please Prof-Remus. Let me come too. I can get my cloak. No one will know I'm gone. And I'll be with you. I'll be safe. Please, professor." He begged.
"Harry. I can't. Let me see him alone tonight. I'll take you with me next time." Hissed Remus, "And don't you dare get that cloak of yours and follow me. It's too dangerous."
Harry pulled an angry face and crossed his arms. Remus bid him goodbye and left. He kept looking behind him to see if Harry was following him. He shouted 'immobilus' at the Whomping Willow and climbed into the tunnel. He walked swiftly until he made it into the Shrieking shack. Opening the trap door, he was keen to see Sirius after three months. He walked in and saw a large black dog sat on the bed. He held out his wand and asked, "What's your nickname for your godson?" The dog changed into a man who responded "Prongslet." Remus walked over and embraced Sirius in a tight hug. When they broke the hug, Remus stepped back and said "Good job I brought soap. You need a shower before anything else. You smell like Padfoot has been rolling in the dirt."
"Join me?" asked Sirius.
"I'll give you five minutes head start in the shower," Remus replied.
Remus started trying to clean the shack, which was covered in a layer of dust, then headed over to the small, broken bathroom which was in the small house. He took off his clothes and jumped in the shower as well. The water was warm, but not hot. He stood behind Sirius and started to gently kiss his neck. Then he stated "here, give me the soap. I'll do your back." Sirius complied and handed over the soap. After washing his back, Remus then started to wash Sirius' hair. "See, your hair grew so quickly, you already look like you need another haircut." Remus turned off the water and reached for the towel he had brought. He dried them both off before performing a warming spell on both of them. They started to kiss, and it was still kissing that they moved to the bed, which luckily Remus had had the forethought to dust and clean while Sirius was showering. On the bed, Remus was straddling Sirius, but Sirius kept trying to flip it the other way. Eventually, Sirius gave in and Remus had Sirius' legs on his shoulders as he entered him. It had been a while since they had been together like this, so before long, it was over, and Sirius lay in his arms. Remus absent mindedly stroked Sirius' long dark hair, just thinking about the two of them together, until Sirius asked him if he'd seen Harry recently.
"Yes, before I came here," replied Remus. There was a silence before Sirius added in "So, how is my godson?"
"Uh, Pads, if I tell you something, you have to promise not to rush over to the boy."
"You know I can't promise that."
"Then I can't tell you." Replied Remus. There was some silence again, before Sirius finally said, "If Harry is in trouble, I need to know."
"Yes, but you have to promise you won't try to fix it yourself."
"Ok" Sirius said sighing.
"Harry knows what the first task is," Remus started before swallowing, "it's getting past a dragon." Remus looked down and saw his lover's face had gone pale white. "But, he's just a boy! A dragon could do serious damage to him."
"I know. Which is why Harry has asked for my help on how to get around the dragon."
"Shit" said Sirius, sitting up.
"Ow, ow, careful! That's me," replied Remus as Sirius elbowed him sitting up.
"Can he transfigure the dragon into something less dangerous?" asked Sirius.
"No, dragons are huge, and their skin is hard to get through. He can't hex or curse it. We need to think different. How would we have done this if we were in fourth year?" responded Remus.
"Can he take his invisibility cloak with him?" asked Sirius.
"I doubt it. Usually they can only take their wand with them. And I don't think it's good for the whole world to know that he has that thing." Remus looked at Sirius who was now up and pacing. "Come here, come and hug me, Pads." Sirius complied and returned to the spot where he was before, lying on Remus' chest.
"He's better off giving the dragon some sort of distraction so it goes elsewhere of its own accord," suggested Sirius.
"Go on, what distracts dragons?"
"Dunno," replied Sirius, "Anyway, I think Harry should be running protection charms. Otherwise he'll get burnt by the flames."
"True. He knows how to use a basic protection shield. I'll try sending flames through it tomorrow, to make sure it can withstand the dragon's flames. See if we can keep him safe using that." Suggested Remus.
"Maybe he could use the protection charm on his robes. That way he can use his wand for other things."
"Hmmm, yes but you have to remember Padfoot, I only have a few hours to teach him that and its quite advanced magic. Plus, he's already stressing about it all. I'd rather remind him of something he already knows," suggested Remus.
"Ok, ok. So, this weekend Harry meets the dragon. I want to be there to see it," stated Sirius, changing the conversation.
"No, you can't." replied Remus, "What if you are caught? There'll be ministry officials everywhere. It's too risky."
"I'll go as Padfoot. I can stay away from the Ministry officials. No one will know."
"What if they find you? It's too risky." Replied Remus shortly.
"They won't find me. I can hide under the stands. Are you going?" Sirius asked.
Remus was quiet. He had been invited to watch by Dumbledore, but he was in two minds whether to go or not. He also didn't want to be seen by the Ministry officials now the world knew he was a werewolf. But he knew that the other champions would have their proud parents there to watch and wanted Harry to have the same. "Not sure. Haven't decided," he finally replied.
"What do you mean you're not sure? You're going." He demanded.
"I don't think it's good to have a known werewolf around children in front of Ministry officials." Replied Remus.
"You and I can go together. We'll find somewhere away from the Ministry officials. I can be the dog you're looking after since you quit your job." Sirius suggested.
Remus didn't say anything in response.
"Oh, come on. I'm sure old Dumbles would know somewhere we could watch it without all the Ministry stiffs seeing us." Sirius continued.
"I don't know…."
"Oh, come on Moony…" Sirius replied burying his head into Remus' neck.
"I've told you I don't want to go," stated Remus shortly, "drop it."
Sirius looked at Moony with a hurt look on his face but didn't want to upset Remus. They'd only just been reunited again. The conversation ended there, with both pretending to sleep, although sleep didn't come for a long time.
