Chapter 14:
Luke's POV:
Mya just appeared out of nowhere, and she's supposed to be dead! I watched as she made her way around the hearth. Her clothes were tattered and grime covered her whole body. She had bruises and cuts everywhere, yet her eyes still held that spark of humor in them. She looked older almost twenty. No one said anything and the only sound that could be heard where the sound of her feet falling and the crackling of the hearth.
She had almost made it to the foot of Zeus's throne when it happened. I watched as Zeus raised his master bolt. It grew to it's full size and sparked with energy. Right as I opened my mouth to warn Mya her hurled it at the girl. The sickening sound of the lightning erupted throughout the room.
"No!" I screamed. The light from the blast blinded me but I stumbled forward. I heard other movements but didn't know where it was coming from or who it was coming from. Those sounds were nothing compared to the sound that I heard next. Laughter filled the room followed by gasps. I forced my eyes to adjust quicker and soon I saw that the white floor had been charred black, and standing in the middle of the destruction was Mya.
Mya's POV:
I don't know how I didn't die, but I had a few guesses. After Zeus decided to throw his mater bolt at me there was something that sparked down inside of me. An indescribable feeling but I just knew that I wasn't going to die. My ears rang from the sound of the bolt coming in contact with it's target, but as the smoke cleared I stared happily into the king of the god's eyes.
"Miss me?" I teased. His mouth hung open along with his eyes.
"How?" he asked in a whisper. I tasted blood in the back of my throat and then in my mouth. I spat it out on the ground expecting it to be the normal red, but a tint of gold splattered on the charred floor. I stared at the golden drops.
'That's not good,' I thought. Feeling the whole room's eyes on my I looked back up at the Zeus.
"You have your answer," I told him. His eyes turned grey and filled with anger. He reached for a smaller bolt on his right.
"You are an imposter," he hissed. "You shall be banished to where monsters like you deserve to be. No one has ever become a god without a blessing from the council."
"I am no imposter!" I shouted. "I am Mya Gethern, daughter of Posideon, Champion of Nyx! I have already survived a trip to Tartarus without being a god no thanks to anyone here!"
"And now you are a god!" Zeus's rumbled. "How does a moral become a god?"
"With our help," three frail voices hissed from behind me. I turned around and saw the three Fates standing in the doorway. The old ladies made their way towards me relatively quickly. Soon they stood in front of me, separating me from the king of the gods. They were hunched but didn't use canes to walk. A pair of scissors hung from who I knew was Atropos's side.
"Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos," Zeus said uncomfortably. "What do we owe the occasion."
"Lord Zeus," they all said respectively before Clotho stepped forward.
"We have come to give our newest goddess her domains," every eye drifted away from the old lady and to me. I stepped forward and knelt in front of the three ladies.
"Ah," Zeus said while eyeing cautiously. "What shall her domains be."
"We have received from requests from certain immortal beings," my heart stopped when Atropos spoke. "We believe we have come to an understanding of what her domains should be."
"Mya Gethern rise," Lachesis told me. I listened and stood up. "Daughter of Posideon, Champion of Nyx, goddess of tides, stars, balance, justice, order, time, and patron of all half-bloods."
They each raised their right hand and balls of light began to form in the middle of their palm. Together they tossed the balls of light at me. They slowly floated through the air each suddenly had a beam shot out from them. One shot into the middle of my father's chest he seemed shocked but not bothered by it. The other two beams shot down into the floor though I knew where they were going. As they grew larger and larger they surrounded me. I closed my eyes and allowed my body to absorb them. Golden, blue, and black lights fluttered under my closed eyelids.
When I open my eyes The Fates were gone and Zeus had his new bolt raised. I looked to the man that sat on the side of him. My father's eyes were filled with sadness and I knew he could barely stand to look me in the eyes. He clenched his trident in his hand so hard his knuckles were turning white. I knew that if he attacked Zeus it would only cause a new war to spark.
"Don't!" my voice echoed through the room. "I am still needed for the war."
"Gods are not allowed to interfere unless told otherwise," I turned and was met with a stormy pair of eyes.
"Lady Athena," I held back the bitterness in my voice. "Just because I am now a goddess does not mean that I'm not also a hero."
"The council shall decide that or not," Hera's voice made the hairs on the back of my neck.
"All who agree with Mya being able to fight in the war?" Posideon, Ares, Hades, Hestia, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Demeter, Artemis, Hermes, and Apollo all raised their hands. Dionysus was asleep and didn't seem like he was going to be waking up anytime soon.
"All in favor of banishing her to Tartarus for the rest of eternity," Zeus shouted. He had already lost but Hera and Athena stubbornly stuck by his side.
"You lost Zeus," I told the god.
"I am the king of the Olympus," he hissed. "The vote was unfairly swayed so I get to make the final decision."
"That is not right!" Annabeth shouted from behind me. I had almost completely forgotten that my friends were even here.
"The Fates have decided to make her a god," Zeus sneered. "They did not say that she didn't have to face the punishment of being one."
"There is no punishment when you are a god!" Annabeth was beginning to scare me. She was acting rash and could end up getting herself really hurt or worse killed.
'I have to get them out of here!' I thought.
"Gods suffer no consequences instead their children take full responsibility for their actions! Wise or unwise!" she glared right at her mother while she talked. "I will not let Mya suffer because you can't accept the fact that she holds strong domains."
"Domains such as time?" Zeus asked. "Do you not remember who else holds the domain of time? Kronos almost wiped out Olympus twice! Who knows what Mya will do with that power?"
"Cronus," I whispered.
"Excuse me?" Zeus asked me.
"Cronus granted me the power over time, not Kronus," I told everyone. Zeus opened his mouth like he was about to speak but I started talking before him. "They're not the same person Cronus is much much stronger than Kronos. I… befriends Cronus in Tartarus and he vowed to protect me, so if you kill me or whatever you're planning on doing just know you made him your enemy."
"Then it is decided," Zeus stated. "Mya herself told us that she received the domain of Cronus who is even stronger than Kronos. It seems only right that I go through with my decision."
"You are only banishing her because you are scared," Percy stepped forward. I saw him pull something from his pocket.
'No,' I tried to tell him with my eyes. 'Do not attack him! He will kill you!'
"I was betrayed by my best friend and then had to survive a trip in Tartarus with very little training," I said suddenly. I don't know why I said it I just knew I had to get the attention off of my friends. "Cronus stopped time to give me time to train and learn my abilities. Nyx offered me a place to stay and she trained me. They are immortals just like you, but they took the time and helped me when I needed it. What do each of you do for your children?"
"What are you trying to say?" Zeus asked.
"I'm trying to tell you that the war against Tartarus will be easily won if you let me fight," I scoffed. In reality, I was just giving myself time to think about how I was going to get my friends out of here before they got themselves killed. "This war is trying to write itself into Western history, but it is taking the same path as the second Titan War. If you don't let me fight the Olympians will not win." I turned and looked at Athena. "Am I wrong?"
"Very!" she hissed.
"You heard her," Zeus told me. "She is the goddess of wisdom."
"Zeus, listen to me," my voice was serious. "If you banish me I promise I will free myself again. Then you will have to fight two wars with only two other gods. Are you sure this is a smart choice?"
"Yes," his eyes were hard and cold.
"Then go through with your promise," I stated. "I promise until I say otherwise not a signal demigod will fight for Olympus. I will make sure that both camps are protected while I'm gone, and the only reason that they will fight Tartarus's forces is because they will be protecting themselves."
"You cannot force our children to fight against us," Athena sneered.
"No only you can and I believe most of you already have," I told all of the gods. "Olympus will be destroyed because it's king is too hardheaded. Good luck, the blood is in the water."
Zeus's anger erupted and I snapped my fingers, my friends were flashed away to Camp Half-Blood. Small storm clouds filled the throne room while I allowed my trident and armor to appear.
"I am the king of the gods!" Zeus shouted.
"You've said that a few times," I respond with a grin.
"I hereby banish Mya Gethern to Tartarus!" he shouted. "And she ever returns I swear that a worse eternal punishment will come to her!"
"You can't keep me away!" I shouted at him. "No matter what you do I swear on the River Styx I will always return!"
All the gods rose from their seats each of their weapons gleaming. Hestia even rose feeling the tension in the room. All of their eyes were on Zeus, Hera, and Athena. I stuck out my free hand and pulled all of the shadows from the edge of the room towards me. I prepared myself for a fight that never came.
"Ξεκίνησε άθλιο τέρας!" Zeus shouted at me. He snapped his fingers and I was flashed back to my prison.
Luke's POV:
We were flashed back to camp and appeared on top of the head table in the dining pavilion. Chiron quickly raised himself from his wheelchair and shouted orders at the campers. I saw Reyna's eyes on me as her mouth moved but I heard nothing.
'See was right there!' I screamed at myself. 'She sacrificed herself again to protect you! Now she back in Tartarus!'
"Prepare everything!" Percy shouted. "We leave for Camp Jupiter tonight!"
"No one leaves until Mya tells us we can!" Annabeth added.
"But isn't Mya Gethern dead?" someone asked.
"No," everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me. "She's a god now and we're not fighting this war for the gods just like she wanted us to."
So that chapter's done. Tell me if you're enjoying the story or not it would mean a ton! :)
