Chapter 12

The Big Day

By: SmilingDolphins

Taylor was excited. Why shouldn't he be? He was getting married to the girl he had loved for 14 years.

Taylor stood to the right under a large archway the was braided with orchids. To his right, stood his groomsmen. First, there was his brother, Samson, wearing a traditional black suit. After that was Nick, who was wearing a burnt orange suit. Supposedly a fox-wolf hybrid who was a friend of his had had it custom made, and had sent it over when he heard about the wedding. After Nick was Crodut, wearing a light tan suit. Finally at the end, for reasons unknown to Taylor, was Alexandru who was rocking a pink 3-piece.

The crowd was mostly made up of the Prima Clan members. Alina and Taylor's mother, Linda, sat in the front row. His father sat next to them. Luca was off with Sorina, getting ready to walk her down the aisle. Taylor himself was wearing a deep blue tuxedo, the same color as the ring and Sorina's eyes.

The wedding was being held in a large clearing in the woods. On the edge of the clearing sat a large log cabin, that had been built for the honeymoon(vampires were amazing builders because of their strength and speed). Taylor was so caught up in his thoughts he didn't even notice that the band had started to play some soft jazz. They certainly were an interesting choice. But Luca had said they were old friends of his and the best musicians he knew.

Taylor didn't think a trumpet and a tenor sax would go with the wedding vibes, but the band was clearly skilled as they played in clear but soft tones. The band was comprised of 2 animals. The one that seemed to be the leader was a muscular dolphin. The dolphin was the one with the trumpet. Even though dolphins had evolved like the rest of them, they still usually preferred to stay in the ocean. They had developed sweat glands, allowing them to be on land for almost 24 hours before they had to get a good soak.

The other animal was a polar bear. He held a tenor sax. The strange thing was that the polar bear seemed perfectly fine. It was quite warm and sunny, yet the polar bear wasn't sweating. He should have been burning up, especially with the heavy suit he wore.

Taylor squinted, trying to read the logo on the side of the dolphin's jacket.

Smiling Dolphins Music Service. Taylor didn't know why, but he couldn't shake the feeling that this dolphin and polar bear were... different. But then again, this was Taylor's first time seeing either species face to face. But he wasn't sure if they were even vampires.

Some movement caught the corner of Taylor's eyes. Walking down the aisle were the bridesmaids. First were Doina and Judy. They both wore matching purple dresses. Doina sat on Judy's head while she walked to the left side of the arch. Nick's eyes followed Judy hungrily, never leaving her face. Next was Taylor's sister, Dixie, who wore a simple white dress. They lined up and waited.

All of the chatter and jazz went silent. A soft "Here Comes the Bride" began to play. Arm in arm, Sorina walked down the aisle with her father. Her wedding dress was simple but it looked like a million bucks to Taylor. It was a white sheath dress, studded with the occasional fake gem to make it glitter in the sunlight.

It seemed to take years for her to get to the end, but finally, her father let go, and there she was, standing in front of him. The band stopped playing and the dolphin set down his trumpet. He walked over to the arch and stepped up onto the officiant's podium.

He's the officiant too? Taylor thought.

"Dearly beloved..." The dolphin began in a deep but smooth voice. Taylor had expected a high pitched squeak but this voice resonated within his bones. It was the voice of someone who was in control, powerful. The dolphin's voice was like what Taylor thought god's voice would sound like if it spoke from the heavens.

The dolphin made his way through the officiant's speech. Finally, they came to the do's.

"Taylor Agitare Lyncas Amans, repeat after me."

I, Taylor Agitare Lyncas Amans, do take Sorina Salvare Sangelui.

"I, Taylor Agitare Lyncas Amans, do take Sorina Salvare Sangelui."

To be my wife; to have and to hold from this day forward.

"To be my wife; to have and to hold from this day forward."

For better or for worse...

Taylor finished his vows and the dolphin turned to Sorina.

"... until we are parted by death." Sorina finished.

"By the power invested in me, I now write- I mean pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Amans. You may kiss the bride." The dolphin said.

Taylor didn't have time to worry why the dolphin said write. He brought Sorina close, bent down, and kissed her. Everyone exploded into cheers. Both Taylors and Sorina's parents were crying, with Luca flat out bawling.

A shrill note split the air. Everyone jumped and turned towards the sound. The note stopped but then more began to scream out, along with the underlying puff of a saxophone. The dolphin and polar bear were playing a jaunty tune, and once people got over their shock, they started laughing and dancing along to it.

After about an hour, everyone had eaten, the chairs had been cleared away, and a large piece of wood was laid in the clearing. A DJ-booth seemed to appear out of nowhere but nobody questioned it. The polar got up in the booth and began to play some songs.

Sorina was talking with another lady from the clan when Taylor spied the dolphin hanging out by the punchbowl. He walked over trying to look casual. He noticed that there was not punch but blood in the bowl. The dolphin held a cup in his hand. he took a sip and didn't seem fazed by it. But the dolphin's eyes weren't red either, nor were his fangs out.

Maybe it works differently for sea creatures. Taylor thought.

"That was some fancy trumpet playing," Taylor said politely.

The dolphin smiled.

"Thanks," he said.

Taylor stuck out his hand.

"Taylor."

"I know."

Taylor felt a moment of panic before remembering he did just officiate his wedding, so he had to have been told his name.

The dolphin took his hand and shook it.

"SmilingDolphins," He said. Taylor stared at him.

"What?" The dolphin asked.

"What's your real name? I don't mean to seem rude but I just want to know." Taylor said.

"Just told you."

Taylors's eyes narrowed.

"Your birth-given name is SmilingDolphins." He asked skeptically.

"No."

"Then what is it."

"I don't have a birth-given name."

"So you came up with that name yourself?"

The dolphin smiled again. Suddenly lights flicked on, lighting up the darkening area.

"You could say that" He took another sip of his drink.

"So are you a vampire?"

"Nope." The dolphin replied.

"WHAT?" Taylor was dumbfounded.

"Why would you be allowed here. It's against the rules for normal animals to know the truth about vampires, without them planning on becoming one themselves. We already have to deal with the hunters, but governments and scientists would be the end of us."

"Listen, kid, I'm here because I'm the one that writes the rules."

"Are you really an old friend of Luca?"

The dolphin chittered, which Taylor realized was actually laughing.

"I was there when he was 'born', kid." The dolphin did air quotes around the word born.

"How is that possible? Your not a vampire and Luca is almost 300 years old."

"Yeah, only here."

"What do you mean only here?"

"Kid you're starting to get annoying."

"Who are you?" Taylor demanded.

The dolphin sighed. He looked straight into Taylor's eyes. Taylor, with a start, realized he hadn't actually seen the irises of the dolphin's eyes.

Inside of the dolphin's irises was what looked like a clear picture. Taylor could see... a thing... behind it. It was like no animal Taylor had ever seen. It was sitting down and typing away at a computer. It was looking directly at him, but Taylor had a feeling he was seeing something different. It only had curly hair on the top of its head, while its tan skin was exposed. It had hazel eyes. Its face was a look of annoyance.

"I don't like annoying things, kid." The sound came from the dolphin but also the figure in his eyes. The figure pressed down a finger on his keyboard.

"That was some fancy trumpet playing," Taylor said.

The dolphin smiled.

"Thanks," he said.

Taylor stuck out his hand.

"Taylor."

"I know."

The dolphin took his hand and shook it.

"SmilingDolphins," He said.

"Nice to meet you SmilingDolphins." Taylor released his hand and grabbed a cup. He filled it up and walked back over to Sorina. Nobody at the party seemed to notice the DJ had been replaced with a cheetah. Nor did anyone notice that the dolphin had disappeared.

Soooo, if you were wondering, yes that was a loose description of me(and it's all your getting!). This wedding was based on my own. Yes, I did get the idea for the, I don't really know what to call it, from the Disney+ show Wandavision. I just now realized it too. I was doing it subconsciously lol. No, I am not evil in the story. Yes, I will appear again. Yes, I actually do play the trumpet. Yes, the polar bear was based on a friend of mine who does actually play the tenor sax( I called him up and asked what he would be if he was an animal and he said polar bear so, yeah). Hope I answered any questions you might have. If you think of another, just Pm me or ask in the comments. Love ya!
