Kara's first day went normally. Apart from her investigative work on the Luthors, she had managed to write her article on the mafia that was currently raging in National City.

In the office of Lena, her father, Lionel Luthor arrived without even having the delicacy to knock on the door to Lena's great displeasure.

- Did you work on what we talked about ?

- Yes father, the formula is almost ready. You will soon be able to put a double of your own as president of the USA.

- Don't condescend to me in your words Lena, need I remind you why are you helping me?

- By the way, isn't there a Kara Denvers who has just been hired at the newspaper?

- Beware Lena, I didn't give you my name, my fortune and the fear of our enemies towards us, so that you could ruin everything with your...

Lena interrupted us and ordered us to be quiet.

- You don't have to tell me what to do, I'm perfectly aware of what's at stake and your desire to rule the "world", my formula for accelerating the growth of human clones will soon be over.

- Well, Lena, it's better for you that it succeeds, you know what's at stake if it doesn't?

Kara had returned home, her sister visited her and she noticed that Kara was lost in thought, as if she was absent. And when Alex asked her what was wrong with her, Kara didn't know what to say except that she wasn't worried and that she was fine.

How could she tell him that she felt empty, soulless, a fire burning inside her, tremors running through her body, nightmares she had every night where she saw a woman standing between the bullet of a revolver and a mysterious woman whose face she couldn't see. Kara felt herself leaving, only doing things by automatism, making every breath of air that she inhaled borderline painful. No, she wouldn't tell her sister about her unhappiness so as not to worry her further.

While trying to find out what was wrong with her sister, Alex received a phone call from the WD. They had received information about Lionel Luthor and his plans and they needed Alex and Supergirl at the WD, so she left for the WD.

Once there, Winn, a computer genius, the king of hackers as he liked to call himself, made them some discoveries.

He had discovered an address, an address that he had such a hard time discovering that it could only be of capital importance in the eyes of Lionel Luthor. So he asked Supergirl to go and see what was going on there, with the WD as backup in case she needed help.

When Kara arrived on the scene, what she saw made her want to vomit, she couldn't believe her eyes, everywhere she looked, women, men, children, old people, all seemed dead and locked in cylindrical tube exits filled with a viscous liquid. It looked like the results of a failed animal experiment. Except that they were human beings, flesh and blood, and Kara couldn't help but have tears in her eyes at the sight of all her people. Then she came across a file, opened it and found inside the documents, which stated that these people were the subject of cloning experiments, and that they had died in the name of science.

Kara really didn't feel well, how could human beings be guilty of such atrocities? Were these human beings clones? And so copies of other human beings, what had become of these humans? Were they dead too?

In the earpiece, Alex ordered him to leave, to leave it as it was so as not to arouse Lionel Luthor's suspicions. These people were dead anyway, she could do nothing for them. But she could use this place to help put an end to the Luthors. They knew what he was working on now, the whole point is to find the purpose of it all.

Kara was completely turned upside down, she couldn't get her images out of her head, she was constantly having a strange feeling that never left her body, she was just... Horrified and angry.

The next day she went back to Cat&Co anyway. She didn't look like she was feeling well and Lena, who was spending a lot of time observing her discreetly, noticed this and decided to do something to help her journalist get better.

So she decided to invite Kara to dinner that evening, much to Kara's astonishment, but she accepted anyway, as it was a great opportunity to get to know her boss and find out if she was like her father.

After Alex warned his sister, (Lex being aware of Superman's weakness, the other Luthors might know too) she prepared to go to dinner. She chose a long, black dress that fitted her perfectly, a dress that would have turned the heads of many men, pumps and a trendy little handheld sa.

They had an appointment at the restaurant at nineteen o'clock and Kara, once is not customary, arrived first. It was just a business meeting, but Kara, for some reason she didn't know, had made it a point to make herself as desirable as possible, as if it had been natural for her to get ready for Lena in this way.

It didn't take Lena long to join her and Kara was for a moment almost paralyzed at the sight of her boss. They were finally able to talk about everything and nothing, as if they had known each other for a long time. And Kara had a growing feeling that if the Luthors were bad, Lena was different, it was almost impossible for her to be like her family. And by the way, with her super hearing, she could hear Lena's heartbeat beating, as if it was going to come out of her body.

During one of their discussions, Kara, mechanically, without realizing it, took Lena's hand in hers and felt her heart about to explode as well, a strange sensation invading her, a cut off breath, a shiver running through her, taking her down like a whirlwind without explaining why. But when she saw Lena looking at Kara's hand in hers, she realized what she had just done and immediately withdrew her hand, and apologized for a long time despite Lena's protests that it was not serious or important.

It was obvious to Kara that there was something wrong with the Luthors, if her brother Lex was crazy, her father was crazy, she couldn't say the same for Lena. She could feel Lena's good heart deep inside, but she couldn't understand why she felt that way when she barely knew him.

The rest of the dinner went rather normally and they went home separately, Lena insisted only on taking Kara home in her limousine.
