Eri's Origin

The battle between two-spirit detectives was going to be a one-on-one showdown in the cave. Yusuke and Eri were isolated away from their friends after Itsuki used his technique Dimensional Travel to get them separated and watch the fight using the Uraotoko that allows it to be a veritable pocket-dimension unto itself. It was given as the debris seen within it, it can be inferred that this creature has existed for a long time.

"All right, Eri, I want you to stay as far away as possible. I don't want you to end up hurt." Yusuke said glancing down at the young child who was afraid and yet, she listened to Yusuke to stay completely away from them.

"I can predict your moves," Sensui said grimacing at Yusuke who stood his ground ready to fight. "Decoding my opponent's style is my strength, but I've been doing it for decades longer."

"Then I guess you know this, too, that trusting what people tell me never been my thing!" Yusuke charges up to Sensui to aim his fist against his chest and started punching him nonstop. His punching skills were fluent and when he threw a big punch in Sensui's gut, the guy flew in the air knocking down a rock facing upside crashing into that, then at the wall. Sensui's shirt started to rip off as his body fell into the water creating a huge splash.

"Jeez." Yusuke tsked.

"What's that Sensui? Did you forget how to swim? You drowned?" Yusuke teased. "Great, we'll pack up and go! You heard Kuwabara, he's starving."

Suddenly, little bubbles were appearing from the water, Yusuke narrowed his eyes to see Sensui arising back to the surface with a straight face.

"Good hits, detective. Between that and the water, my shirt practically dissolved." Said Sensui who casually walked back on the surface as Yusuke looked at his body that had so many scars all over him. Eri could see that as well, Yusuke let out a gasp to jump back to scan his body.

"Gross. Look at all those scars. I guess he wasn't lying about all of those scars he's been through." Kuwabara said, they could hear him in the Uraotoko shadowy figure that was watching them all not too far away where the two detectives were fighting.

Sensui says, "Don't you know what they say about assuming, Kuwabara?" Sensui narrowed his eyes directly into the shadowy eyes of the shadow figure. "These wounds aren't from enemies. No one's ever hurt me that bad. I gave myself these scars as part of my training."

Yusuke felt sweat dripping down his forehead down to his chin as he wiped it away. He had to agree with Sensui, that his body is well trained like punching a tractor tire. As the two-spirit detectives stood their ground sending a strong glare at each other. Time was running out and Yusuke couldn't help but worry about what was going to happen if 30 minutes were already up.

"Now, let's fight like there's a little more at a stake," Sensui said.

Third Person P.O.V.

Sensui's power starts to rise, but he's much stronger than what Yusuke and the others expected. Eri was right. This guy will not hesitate to kill them all one by one. Her witness him before and after returning to him caused a more painful experience that she had to go through. Yusuke had to be alert and as Sensui draws out his powerful spiritual energy known as Fissure Kick Crimson Ball Wave to aim at the spirit detective dodging all of the balls like it was P.E. class. Being cautious Yusuke had to fight and protect Eri at the same time making sure she doesn't end up hurt. He ran over picking the girl up in his arms jumping and gliding on the hard ground to avoid anymore coming towards her.

"All right, enough of this already!" Yusuke says setting down the girl and charges straight towards the balls flying towards them and starts punching them. The others were amazed that Yusuke was keeping his guard up to attack Sensui's crimson balls coming straight for him. Eri had her mouth gap open as she watched the spirit detective prevent every ball from hitting her.

"Surprise!" Yusuke jumping out of the smoke glaring over at Sensui who stood there not amused. "Maybe I can't defend against attacks from multiple angles, but sometimes good defense just kicks in the ass!" Hollard Yusuke who punched another one of the crimson balls that Itsuki was bewildered by how he managed to aim Sensui's attack.

"Bet you didn't see this comin'!" Yusuke exclaimed jumping into the water and swims back to shore which made it look refreshing for him.

"You still think you know what I'm gonna do next?" Yusuke cockily grins laughing in amusement.

"Hey! Stop clowning! This is no time to be takin' a dip!" Kuwabara exclaimed.

"He's never been one for good manners," Hiei stated.

Yusuke says, "And now I'm ready to go a few more rounds."

The match was continuing as Yusuke runs up to Sensui who gave him a mischievous grin," And now we return to your same old conventional punches. It's unfortunate, honestly, to see that your brief spontaneity was merely a passing reprieve."

"That's way too many big words, pal!" Yusuke yells.

Sensui gave him a smirk as he folded his arms over his chest, "I wonder what will you do if poor Eri suffered to the more crucial aspects of this fight?"

"Leave her out of this Sensui!" Yusuke shouted.

"She's watching you try to save her, but your not strong enough to do it." Sensui criticized as Yusuke stopped his tracks as he narrowed his eyes at him before glimpsing back at Eri who was hugging herself looking desperate at them. "She's the reason you want to take back? For what is the case?"

"I just don't get it. Why is Sensui talking about Eri at this point in the middle of the fight?" Kuwabara inquired.

"Sensui may know more about Eri than what we do," Kurama said.

"I wonder Eri..." Sensui glanced behind Yusuke's shoulder as she let out a small whimper grasping her own wrist not looking away from his cold gaze. "It's a shame that they came all of this way to save you. Pity." He mocked before focusing on his opponent who glared at him. "Perhaps you should know what Eri is capable of, and how I know what she can do."

"I already figure out what her spirit energy is already. She doesn't need your support to bring her high hopes after what I've witnessed."

"That's good to observe her power after she broke elder Toguru with her spirit energy. However, Yusuke, I should let you know about something very intriguing," Sensui smirked holding up a finger at the detective. "Eri...is Toguru's and Elder Toguru's niece."

The spirit detective's eyes widen in shock as he heard the news about who Eri's relatives are. Not just Yusuke, but the others who were in the other dimension with Itsuki watching the fight overheard it too.

"Eri is...Toguru's niece?" Kurama repeated slightly wide eyes.

"I didn't think Toguru would have any other relatives," Kuwabara said astonishingly.

"What?" Yusuke mumbled.

"I thought this might stop your pride in the middle of the fight. You see, you don't know the true story about where Eri came from and who her family she lived with, they vanished leaving nothing behind except for her." Sensui said as Yusuke glanced in the corner of his eyes to see Eri looking so sad and remembered when she talked about Toguru.

"Yeah, but what about Toguru? He was a cruel man at the very beginning. How could he watch Eri?" Yusuke inquired.

"Because Toguru had no idea what to do with Eri because of her spirit energy." Sensui flatly said gazing at Yusuke.

"I have a niece that you remember our sister, elder Toguru?" Toguru brought up the topic about his sister that not even Genkai or the others knew about.

"Oh, yeah. I forgot about our sister." Elder Toguru said with a slight chuckle.

"Hn, I knew you would consider that you're getting old. Anyway, just to let you know our fool of a sister gave up her own child-her own blood because what the young one did cause an accidental mess. She told me that her husband disappeared when he reached for the child and was gone. Not existed anymore and claimed that the child is a curse." Toguru explained to his older brother while Sakyo listened to the giant male of the young child using their power to destroy the father.

"Toguru knew that Eri was a big problem considering her power to Rewind," Sensui said.

"But how did you know all of this? Where did you find her?" Yusuke demanded.

"Isn't it obvious? You fought Toguru at the Dark Tournament which she was there watching the fight only to remain hidden." Sensui as the spirit detective froze in his place after hearing that Eri was at the Dark Tournament only to keep away from everyone else. "After you've won the match, Eri was alone after the loss of her uncles. Though, when I came across her I knew something was completely strange about her. It was...what she was able to do and how to do it."

"Where are you getting at?" Yusuke gritted his teeth hearing the man acting very emotive right about now.

"What's he talking about?" Kuwabara asked a little confused.

"I think we're about to know why Sensui wants Eri for. Not just you, Kuwabara, but for her power." Kurama explained.

"If a small child was able to rewind their father from existence. I say, that it is incredibly powerful that I've never heard of anyone doing that." Hiei stated.

'Then again...Eri didn't know what she did to do it.' Hiei thought in his mind.

"What's completely strange that you found out about Eri?" Yusuke demanded.

The tall male glanced at the spirit detective replying, "Eri's power is far greater than any demon was ever born with. She can rewind things to their current state and not only that I had plans to use Eri and Kuwabara for releasing the demons into the human world. That horn of hers is what's causing her to break things down more easily and it's very useful."

"You're just using her for that? Give me a break!" Yusuke formed a deep scowl.

"Of course, but when I have her with me on my side. It's going to be hard for you to understand, that she can make the society much greater than we'd ever done!" Sensui raised his voice a little as Yusuke deepen his frown on his lips. "A change...a new society is what we need!"

"Your wasting your breath pal. Eri isn't going with you whether you like it or not." Yusuke said.

"That's what you think," Sensui smirked deeply.

Yusuke raises his eyebrows at him, "There's more?"

"More to it when I had to run some tests on her to see what else her power can do."

'Test? Wait. I-It can't be...' Yusuke thought in realization when it hit him after seeing those scars on her arms when Genkai untied to the bandages.

"What does he mean by that?" Mitarai inquired.

Kurama began to speak up, "Sensui has been operating on Eri…(Slice) to use her Rewind Spirit energy(Slice)...to prevent anyone from using their spirit energy. Those bandages are a reason why he did this to her and…(Slice) and it's no wonder she didn't tell us. She's scared we'll do it to her the same way he did it."

"That dream she had that night...it was him." Hiei balled his hand into a fist-clenching it tightly feeling rage kick in.

'It's no wonder why she was afraid. Her eyes were pleading for us not to return her to that bastard.' Hiei thought.

"I'm sorry!"

Eri trembles as she stares at the others with a sad expression.

"I'm just a curse."

Hiei remembers hearing her say that when he was one himself. She denied that false statement to claim she's the real curse child.

"P-Please...Please don't take me back!"

When Eri begged Yusuke to save her. She was always clinging to him that wanted to be protected.

An unphased and shocked Yusuke remained frozen into his place with his eyes widen as he balled up his fist hearing them crack. He gritted his teeth to understand the truth of what Sensui has done to the poor demon girl that escaped from his hell that he sending out one of his following members to capture her again. Eri didn't want this...she didn't want to return to suffering again.

"Y-You monster!" Yusuke screamed. "How could you harm a small child? Eri doesn't know or understand what she did wrong. She never did and you... you're just blaming everything she does that isn't her fault." The spirit detective was enraged by the whole true origin he'd learn that it wasn't Toguru's fault or for at least not raising the child as properly as he could. It was very upsetting that the others found out about Eri's suffering that was scaring the poor girl.

"The more of her energy that we can use is to get rid of the human society." Sensui clarified. "She's the key that I need. With Eri's power, a new change will fulfill my destiny and for the demons to rise and take over what is meant to be ours!"

"How could he do that to Eri. She's just a kid..."Kuwabara gritted his teeth and clenched his fist to hear the horrifying truth as much as Hiei and Kurama were to find out as well.

"I'm never letting you down again, Eri." Yusuke declared giving Sensui a strong glare and deep scowl across his face. "We're going to save you. I made a promise that I will make you smile once again."

"Smiling, eh? There is nothing to smile about in this pitiful world." Sensui claimed.

"Yeah? Well, in this world I bring peace and wipe out the destruction of who's causing it." Yusuke declared.

In the dimensional world, Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama were as shocked to learn about the truth of Eri. They listened and watched the two-spirit detectives fought on, Kurama tries to process the whole story about Eri which was a sad tragedy that the poor girl had went through.

"Why..." Kurama muttered.

The demon fox felt guilt hit his chest when he already killed a child when they'd arrived here. But, now he understood clearly that Sensui had done quite enough to use a frail demon child to torture her more.

"Sensui may have been using Eri for her power, but it doesn't mean he will give her up," Itsuki said.

"What are the odds on all of that we've just heard? He clearly abused that girl for her power just so he could use it for his evil schemes!" Mitarai exclaimed.

"Rewind is quite powerful and no one in the Toguru family had has that kind of power," Itsuki remarked.

Kuwabara glares over at Itsuki asking, "Hey, what are the odds for when Sensui uses Eri for anyway?"

"If all goes down as its plan, then I am pretty sure Eri will use her power for this certain task," Itsuki replied.

"A task for what?" Hiei asked.

"Rewinding the gate to the demon world to let it enter the human world."

The four of them were shocked that Eri could rewind the gate without having Kuwabara cut through it and released the demons to enter that world.

"Monstrosity is what I can tell from seeing it in your eyes," Kurama said in a deep tone.

'A monster...?' Hiei thought as he let out a small gasp remembering what Eri told him back at the playground.

"Even if you were...you would've hurt me already and the others too. Monsters are creatures that don't understand what makes them scary; they just want to be scary."

"We need to get out of this place! Yusuke and Eri are going to get killed out there if we don't do something!" Kuwabara exclaimed.

"There is no escape," Itsuki replied in a bitter tone. "I can only get you out and you can't risk saving them."
