"Well,well Dr. Karev,I didn't think this would be your scene,"Dean responded.Jo's face was laced with shock as she nervously swallowed.

"You'd be surprised,"Alex retaliated,Alex waited nervously for the two to respond to his question.

Lowering his hands from Jo's body Dean responded smugly,"By all means,Karev,"he then turned back to Jo,"Dr. Wilson it has been a lot pleasure,"and with that he turned away.Alex knew his technique,his game,how he thought by leaving without any commotion she'd be impressed.

Alex stared at Jo for a moment,waiting for her to consent for him to touch her.Jo saw him staring at her and nodded her head,barely,but still permitting him to step forward.

Alex nervously stepped forward and placed his hand on Jo's hips,she flinched at the feeling of his touch but reciprocated putting her hands on his shoulders,only lightly though.Instantly she breathed in his intoxicating scent from his cologne,her senses heightened at his touch,Jo would be lying if she said it wasn't difficult being this close to him.

The two stared at each other through their masks until Alex broke the silence,"You look...incredible,"he told her,searching for the right word that satisfied her beauty.

Jo looked down at the ground and quietly said,"Thank you."she breathed out,still anger in her words as she hadn't forgiven Alex.

The two danced in silence awkwardly for a few moments,neither really knew what to say,"So how was that...with Dean?"he clarified.

"Not amazing I'll be honest,"she said as she let out a little laugh,still not looking him in the eye.

"Looked like it was going well from where I was,"Alex said quietly.

"He's a pig,so arrogant and full of himself,"she explained.At this point the ex-lovers were being stared at by a few people because of the shock of them dancing,most had assumed upon his return they hated each other,their public fight only fuelling that suggestion.

"For a moment,I thought you were going to slap me again,"Alex said with a small laugh.

"Wouldn't be the first time,"Jo responded bluntly

The two danced silently for a few minutes before Alex declared,"It was hard not seeing you for the past week."

Looking down Jo said sincerely,not mocking him,"You did it for a year,what's a week?"

The tension between them grew dramatically,"It was the hardest thing I've ever done.I'm sorry."

"I know,"Jo responded sincerely,"but I understand why you did it,for your children.They're your kids Alex,and it makes you a good person for wanting to know them.It hurt a lot that you left me for Izzie and you did it in a crappy way,but I understand that you left for your children."

Upon hearing her partial acceptance of his actions Alex immediately responded,"I love you."He could see Jo's eyes go wide,he undid his mask and pulled it off,symbolising he didn't want to hide anymore,holding it against her dress as the two stopped dancing and now just stood in each other's embrace,"I love every part of you,everything about you Jo.I don't want to spend another day,ever without you."Jo's eyebrows had slightly raised and her lips were parted,"I love you.Not only for who you are,but for who I am when I'm with you."

Jo was speechless at his confession and looked down at the ground unable to think.At this point a handful of the people in the room were staring at the two confer,not able to hear the heated conversation but able to read the expressions.

"Alex..you hurt me,more than anything I can even comprehend,"she sighed,"You and I loved each other,"Alex smiled at hearing her words,"..and then you broke my heart."Alex's face suddenly stiffened and frowned depressingly at her words,"I've been doing everything possible not to face that fact,"Jo said as she stepped out of his embrace,unable to accept what he had done to her.

Not expecting her in any way to reciprocate his words from earlier,Alex listened to her words and ruminated for a moment,Jo began to slowly turn away before Alex spoke up and admitted,"When I say I love you,it's not because I want you,"Jo immediately looked up and turning around after hearing his words,"Or because I can't have you-it has nothing to do with me.I love who you are,what you do,how you try...I've seen your strength and kindness,I've seen the best and worst of you and I understand with perfect clarity,exactly who you are."After finishing his words,Jo could see he was about to walk away,as he exhaled.Jo looked deeply into his eyes,contemplating all the reasons why what she was about to do was wrong.He had left her,he'd taken off and ended their marriage without even asking for her opinion.He'd embarrassed her.He'd hurt her.But right now that wasn't what she was thinking about,she could feel the eyes of people on the two,but she didn't care.She had heard how he didn't expect her to reciprocate,and admired him for it,and she was sure she'd hate herself after what she was about to do.

Jo breathed heavily and gulped hard as Alex began to slowly turn away,grabbing his wrist causing him to face her,she paused for a moment and then she just let herself go.

Cupping Alex's face with her two hands,she allowed her lips to meet his slowly,kissing him square on the lips.He didn't immediately reciprocate,due to shock but soon after he let his hands reclaim their place around her back as he began kissing her back.She could taste his Whiskey infused lips as they brushed against her own.Her mask was pressed against his bare skin,causing it to become a little blotchy and red.

Now people were really staring.

The kiss was soft and delicate-chaste you could say but soon began slightly increasing in intensity.Neither cared if people could see,and they knew they could.People would think she was weak for forgiving him,and they would think that he was a monster for leaving her,but neither cared right now.

She began kissing him more passionately,opening her mouth more allowing his tongue to enter it,as her fingers hooked around his hair.Eventually,the two pulled away from each other unwillingly,finally realising they were being watched.Alex could tell Jo was a little nervous and ashamed of herself that people had seen,he caressed her face softly with the palm of his hand and pulled a strand of hair behind her ear causing her to blush.The sexual tension between the pair was tangible.

"Can we talk..somewhere private?"Jo asked.

Alex nodded,"Go to your car,I'll leave in a few minutes."

Jo nodded and left as Alex stood by the bar filled with sheer euphoria.He could hardly contain himself as he stood there.People had probably assumed the two were now arguing again.

"Well well,"Meredith said mocking him.Alex looked up at her,"Just don't screw it up again okay?"Meredith told him as he nodded and quietly slipped away,exiting the building and finding Jo's car.He knocked on the window lightly and proceeded to open the door and sit in the passenger seat.

"Where do you want to go?"Jo asked quietly.

"...your place?"Alex asked testing the waters.

"Um yeah,that's fine,"Jo answered as she pulled out of the parking lot and started driving down he road.

Her hands gripped the steering wheel uncomfortably,ever since she'd taken her wedding ring off,her hand felt weightless-like something was missing.

After a few minutes of silence,Alex recognised the route she was taking,"You still live at the..."He didn't finish the sentence.

Gulping hard after a moment of silence Jo answered,"The loft...yeah."They sat in silence until they reached the parking lot,god it was nostalgic for Alex to even be there let alone inside the loft.

They silently,opened the first door and made their way up the stairs.It looked identical to the last time Alex had seen it.Jo pulled the key out of her purse and slowly opened the lock,Alex behind her.

Sliding the door pen,Jo walked in slowly,Alex following in pursuit.
