Chapter 12- free
-*Finally they will leave!*
Everyone collapsed to the ground outside of the asylum, Freya found a shortcut that lead them right outside. After Butch felt his mind return he turned to brick, "Bro... Do you have that evidence? Because if you don't I'm going to murder you!" Brick rolled his eyes at Butch and reached into his jeans pocket. "Yeah..." He pulls out the recorder, he then noticed that it was recording the entire time. "Holy shit I didn't press stop recording!" Brick finally did press it.
"So that means we recorded fucking everything!" Buttercup asks in disbelief. "Yeah... You guys didn't hear the cult... What they were saying... It still makes my blood pressure spike..." Brick growls and Blossom moved to hug him. They called Brick her protector, she definitely agreed with that statement. "Thank you... All of you... But this isn't the end... We still have one more place to go... I still have samples of the medication..." She said as Brick hugged her and held her close.
"I'm going to call my friend Kennedy... She has a van..." Freya assures and Brick nods, his arms wouldn't let go of Blossom. Boomer let Bubbles rest her head on him as they sat across the street from the asylum, the night was still present and dark. Buttercup just sat beside Butch, they didn't speak, but they didn't have to... Butch knew she was thankful and brought an arm around her, Buttercup instantly relaxed.
"Where can you go after this?" Brick asked Blossom who hugged him closer. "I turn 18 tomorrow... So we go where we can... I don't think that I want to go back with my father... I don't think my sisters do either..." Blossom said, she felt safe now. "Our place is open until you figure out what you need to do..." Brick offered and Blossom nods.
A hour later, Freyas friend drove up to them after Freya waved her over. "You guys look like shit.. Get in... Freya told me, the best I can do is the police department in Townsville's downtown area... That okay?" Kennedy asked, her brown eyes held concern for the seven worn out teens climbing into her car. "Yes thank you..." Brick said, his body relaxed, he was exhausted and just held Blossom to him as they sat next to each other. Blossom rests her head on him and slowly started to fall asleep. Brick absent mindedly kissed her forehead, she was safe, she was here, she was free and she was in his arms... He was just happy for that, Blossom meant so much to him.
The four siblings noticed this, all turning to each other. "I was making fun of him before... But Jesus Christ, he really does love her..." Butch whispers and the other three look at their older siblings again. "We gotta thank him... Because if he didn't, we'd all be dead..." Buttercup whispers back. The drive to town was an hour and everyone didn't stop looking at Blossom and Brick, who both had fallen asleep.
When they got to the police department, Butch lightly poked Brick to wake him. Brick's eyes shot open. "Bro, we're at the police department... Come on and let's get this shit over with..." Butch sighs and Brick nods. After he woke Blossom, everyone gets out and parts with Kennedy. "Good luck guys!" She said as she drove away.
They all look to each other and nod, walking to tell the almost unbelievable story to the police.
(4 hrs later)
"You seven are extremely lucky to be alive to sit here and tell us this startling story... Thanks for bringing this substantial amount of evidence... We have always been skeptical about that asylum and we have a very large number of things to sort out..." The main detective said and they all nod. "Where will you girls be headed? Your father was quite non compliant on the phone, so I don't think you'll get far with him..." The detective asks his eyes scanned everyone and Blossom raised a hand. "Brick has offered his home until we can get on our feet..." Blossom said and all their siblings look at her in shock.
"That's fantastic, that means the six of you will be at the same adress and can all be found there for questioning..." The detective smiles. "Do you mind getting us all a ride there? A friend drove us here, but she couldn't stay unfortunately..." Brick asks and the detective nods. "We'd be happy to, just after all of you get treatment medically at the hospital near by... Blossom and Buttercup have physical and very open wounds..." He advised insistently. Everyone nods, not willing to argue with that.
They were transferred to the hospital, Blossom and Buttercup were treated for their wounds. Everyone had a check up and passed with a clean bill of health
Finally after 8 hrs of this, it was 5 pm the next day when everyone finally entered they boys home. Freya said she'd return the next day after she got some rest and went home, the remaining six all sat on the couch in the living room. "We rent, I'll just let our landlord know you three are staying here... Butch, Boomer and I can afford you guys, we work anyway so there isn't much sacrifice there..." Brick reassured them and all three girls nod, "You can sleep wherever you feel comfortable..." He finished. "Bubbles and I will sleep in here, I want to make sure she's going to be okay tonight..." Buttercup said instantly said and Brick sighs. "That's fine... When you two are comfortable, I'll transition you into your own spaces..." Brick was tired, he just wanted to go to bed, "Butch... Please just order dinner, I don't have the energy to cook today..." He sank into the couch. Butch got up, "Okay bro... Take it easy..." He said prospectively and Brick chuckled. Butch chuckled in return and went to do as told, Boomer headed to collect blankets.
"I'm sure you don't gotta worry about it tonight..." Brick joked. Blossom spoke up, "Brick... For my comfort... Do you mind if I stay with you tonight... I feel like I can be able to feel safer in your presence..." she asked timidly. "I wouldn't mind, I said sleep wherever you feel comfortable... If that's with me then so be it..." Brick said softly and Blossom smiled. "I feel like you saved me..." Blossom said, climbing next to him. "No... I freed you... You're all free..." Brick lets her climb into his embrace again. Blossom cuddles him and feels a few tears fall. She wasn't used to this, they were experiencing a huge life change all in a span of 24 hours. 3 years of what they had been living in, it was difficult to transition into normal life.
"I want you three to have a 2 month period to readjust to normal life... I don't expect you to rush, I can't force it out of you..." Brick said and all three smile. "Dude... I thought you were nuts, but you're a fucking god sent..." Buttercup sighs letting Bubbles lay on her. Bubbles was silent, readjusting, but it was overwhelming. When Boomer brough in blankets and pillows, Brick got up, taking Blossom with him. "Come on Blossom, let's give your sisters this room to sleep... We're all exhausted from all this, I'll show you my room because you asked me to stay in there with me..." He lead Blossom there and she timidly stood in the doorway.
"My bed is a double, but I'm sure you can fit..." Brick laid out an extra blanket for her. Blossom shifts uncomfortably in the doorway, Brick turned to her. He says the emotions in her eyes and sits down. He knew she needed him there for comfort right now. "Go ahead... I'm here..." as soon as he says that, she lays down and hugged him. The tears were back, this time it turned into small sobs into his shirt. "Shh, you're going to be okay..." He held her protectivly.
He couldn't imagine what she was going through right now, but he knew that this was how he could help.
Butch stood in Brick's doorway, he had a somber look on his face. He nods and turned to leave, he knew that both needed to be alone right now. Blossom clung to his shirt as her crying got heavier and Brick had to keep himself composed, watching her crying was the most heart wrenching thing, but she needed to let it out. When she could pull away she could only think of what he said to her, he'd fallen for her, he loved her... This person showed her what unconditional love was in the span of 2 years of writing and finally meeting. He was the one person other than her sisters that she could instantly say actually loved her, and that she felt it in return.
"Brick... This isn't just emotions... You said you loved me, and I guarantee that I return it..." She admitted and he hugged her closer. "I do love you... And now I know you're finally safe..." Brick said, kissing her head again. Blossom tilted her head up and looked into his eyes, those understanding, loving, caring and gentle red eyes. Blossom knew with him she was finally home, not this house, but Brick himself was home to her. Without thinking, Blossom leans up to kiss him. Brick was caught off guard, but his eyes closed. He puts a hand on her arm, he held back from doing anything to make her uncomfortable. Her kissing him set of a feeling of safety between the two.
Blossom pulled away and hugged him again. "You were the best thing that ever happened to me..." Her words felt like a heavy weight in his chest. "And you're going to be the best thing that's happened to me..." He says as both fully relaxed and fell asleep.
