A/N - warning homophobia.

It was Tuesday night. After hours corridor duty again. Remus sighed. There were so many things he would rather be doing than patrolling empty corridors. He decided to try and use the time wisely by thinking about what lessons he would run next term with the students. Start with first years, he thought, then work your way up to seventh year. He kept roaming, knowing that no one would be out. Fred and George knew by now that Remus was usually one step ahead of him with every prank, so they tended to avoid Tuesday night mayhem. Remus' hearing was excellent due to his wolf senses, so he could usually hear student footsteps before he saw the child.

First years, going well, he thought. Need a bit more work with Colin on his smoke screen, although he's finally mastered both red and green sparks. Next we'll work on some dangerous creatures, maybe hags. No, no, he thought to himself, ghosts make more sense. I'll chat to Nearly headless Nick to see if he'll talk to the students about being a ghost. Now, second years, Ginny is doing admirably, thought Remus, my initial worries were unfounded he thought. She's a tough little nut that one. Maybe it's time to show the second years the disarming charm. That would be useful for them to know, thought Remus.

Ah, third years, thought Remus. Then he heard what he was sure was a whisper further down the corridor. He started walking to where the sound was coming from, he could hear a little moan. He stopped. He was at the history of magic classroom. He opened the door and with a flick of his wand, the lanterns all came on. He saw two students – Sixth year Eulalie and fifth year Octavia – both Hufflepuffs looking rather dishevelled and guilty. They looked at each other then looked at Remus. He knew immediately what had happened and told both students to go back to the Hufflepuff common room. The girls both left quickly, without a word, desperate to avert his gaze. Remus flicked his wand to turn off the lights then locked the door, before continuing on with his patrol.

The next day after the sixth-year class, Eulalie came to talk to him. Remus could guess what this was about but didn't want to push her.

"Um, can we talk, Professor? Uh, about last night? Eulalie asked.

"Sure," responded Remus as he sat down, indicating that Eulalie could talk when she was ready.

"Are we in trouble?" she asked him nervously.

"Not any more than any other couple I find using a spare classroom after hours," responded Remus.

Eulalie looked at him puzzled.

"Eulalie, I have not informed anyone about last night. There's no detention. Nothing has gone on your record," he stated.

She looked shocked at him "but, last time, when Professor Snape caught us…." she started.

"Why, what did Professor Snape do?" he asked her curiously.

"He gave us both a week of detentions and told us we were unnatural freaks," she said ashamed.

"Eulalie, you and Octavia are not unnatural, and you are definitely not freaks. There is nothing wrong with what you are doing…. well, sneaking around the castle after curfew is against the rules, but I have no issue with anything else," he told her.

She looked at him, disbelieving.

"So, we're not in trouble?" she asked.

"No" replied Remus, "Eulalie, when you leave school, you will realise that there are many people just like you."

Eulalie smiled "Thank you, Professor. I'd best get to my next class."

Remus simply smiled as she left the classroom.
