They were all in Chuck's secret workshop.

"The new Emerald Coast Resort sounds like the perfect place to get away from it all! You can hang out at the beach, or float in the crystal-clear ocean all day long, then dine as you watch a spectacular sunset!" Amy said.

Tails, Cream, and Cheese were already in the X-Tornado. Chuck, Chris, and Amy were standing nearby, and Sonic was lounging in a few crates.

"It sounds absolutely romantic! I wish we were going to the opening party!" she said.

"We'll have fun at the Thorndykes' villa. Are you ready to go, Cheese!" Cream said.

"Chao! Chao!" Cheese said.

"I'm ready too, guys! My flight plan will take us right to the Emerald Coast." Tails said.

"Be careful, Tails, and try not to let anybody see you.

"They won't have a problem as long as they stay on the grounds of the villa." Chuck said.

"I wish I could hang out with them instead of going to the resort opening." Chris said holding up an invitation.

"I know, but your mother can't make it, so she needs you to go in her place. You won't have to stay long, and after you can join the others at the villa!"

"That's great!" Chris said as Chuck nodded. "I can give you a swimming lesson, Sonic."

"You guys go on without me. I'm gonna stay right here." Sonic said.

Everyone was surprised at Sonic.

"Sonic, you mean you're not coming with us?" Amy said and Sonic leapt down from the crates.

"That's right. Have fun, I gotta run!" he said and dashed out of the garage.

"That's weird. I wonder why Sonic doesn't want to go to the Emerald Coast with us." Chris said.

"It must be because Sonic hates water. He won't go near the ocean because he can't swim." Amy said.

Chris remembered see Sonic choking after being rescued from the pool by him that first night.

"I forgot that." he said.

"But Sonic doesn't have to swim. He could go running on the beach!" Tails said.

"It's not gonna be as much fun without Sonic." Amy said.

Then Chris heard a car horn from outside, and saw Ella and Tanaka.

"Mr. Chris! We have to leave now or you'll be late for the ceremony!" Ella said.

"Have a great time, Chris." Chuck said and Chris nodded.

"We'll meet up later." he said.

"Okay. Don't be long!" Amy said.

"See you there!" Tails said.

"Chao chao chao!" Cheese said.

"And don't be nervous, Chris. That opening party will be just fine!" Amy said.

"Uh, yeah... " Chris said and chuckled nervously.

Soon, the X-Tornado was in position to take off. The engines warmed up, the wings opened, and Chuck pressed the button that tilts the trees away from the runway.

"Next stop: Emerald Coast. Hang on!" Tails said and the X-Tornado gained speed. "Here we go!"

Then the X-Tornado took off and Chuck watched it.

"Hang in there, Chris." he said to himself.

Meanwhile, Chris, was in the car with Ella and Tanaka when he saw the X-Tornado flying overhead, and began wishing he was going with his friends instead of the ceremony.

"Master Chris, remember that you are representing the Thorndyke family on this trip." Tanaka said.

"I'll do my best, Mr. Tanaka." Chris said.

Meanwhile Sonic was lying in a field among the flowers and picked one of them with his medallion on as usual.

Then he laid there in silence for a minute then shook his head.

"Who needs the ocean?" he said.

In Emerald Coast Amy, Tails, Cream, and Cheese were enjoying themselves in the water. Amy was surfacing.

"This place is unbelievable!" she said.

"It sure is, Amy! I'm really glad we came!" Tails said.

"And we'll have even more fun when Chris gets here." Cream said.

At Thorndyke Villa fireworks burst overhead as guests chatted with each other.

"Chris, say hello." Tanaka said.

Chris, was dressed in a suit was shaking hands with one of many guests who were lined up to see the Thorndykes then he yawned.

"Try to look interested." Tanaka said and Chris snapped out of his yawn and shook the hand of the next guest.

At Emerald Coast Cheese was playing by the water and Cream and Tails were building a sand castle and Amy was walking along the beach.

"Lovely... I just wish Sonic was here to enjoy this with me." Amy said then daydreamed of herself and Sonic enjoying themselves at the beach, and then holding hands together at sunset.

"Amy." Sonic said.

"Sonic." Amy said.

Then her daydream ended.

"It would be so romantic! Oh, we'd be sooo happy!" she said excited.

Then a coconut fell on her, knocking her to the ground. She stared angrily at the coconut.

"You just ruined my fantasy!" she said then hurled the coconut out into the water.

It struck an unsuspecting E-38 Octoron, which then submerged under the water. Amy panted from the exertion.

"Just thinking about Sonic can make me crazy." she said then became aware of a nearby conversation.

"You're so wonderful, Chad..." a woman said.

"So are you, Wendy..." a man said.

"Sonic, where are you?!" Amy shouted but Sonic couldn't hear her.

So she continued walking along the beach.

"Chad, I made something for you." the woman said.

"For me?" the man said.

"Yes. It's nothing really, but I want you to have it."

At the sound of "lucky charm", Amy was alert again.

"Really?" he said and the woman held out the lucky charm, bracelet made of seashells.

"It's a lucky charm, for when you go in the water. It's just like mine."

"Thank you. I'll always wear it and think of you."

"Oh, Chad..."

"Oh, Wendy..."

Later Amy sat in a beach chair, creating a bracelet of her own while Tails and Cheese build a sand castle

"Hm... I wonder what Sonic would say..." she said.

Suddenly Cream appeared in front of her.

"Who's that for, Amy?" she asked.

"Ah... Oh... Nobody."

"You didn't make that for Sonic, did you?" Cream asked pointing to the bracelet.

"No, of course not!"

Suddenly everyone heard a rumbling in the distance. Black smoke poured up from the villa and another explosion occurred.

At Thorndyke Villa he guests screamed and ran for their lives as Eggman and E-38 Octoron appear.

"I'm turning the Emerald Coast Resort into my kind of stomping ground!" Eggman said

Octoron punctured a boat with one of its massive tentacles before smashing it. Chris stared in shock.

"All right, time for my deconstruction crew!" Eggman said a an army of E-39 Quizon robots ready their tools of destruction and march single-file onto land.

"All right!" Quizon 1 said.

"Ready!" Quizon 2 said.

"Here I go!" Quizon 3 said.

"Here we come to destroy everything!" Quizons said and began laying waste to everything in their path, making their way to the hotel. "Here we go! Here we go! He we go go go!"

They destroyed the entire hotel in seconds.

"It's destroyed!" Quizons said.

Immediately a giant statue of Eggman was erected, along with other aspects of his resort.

"I have to find a way to call Sonic!" Chris said but several Quizons surrounded him, Tanaka, and Ella.

"You're my first guests. Welcome to Eggman's Scream Park, where your first vacation is guaranteed to be your last! Hahaha!" Eggman said.

Tanaka stepped in front of Chris.

"Stay back, Chris. I will guard you. As your father's servant, it is my duty to protect you, even if it means sacrificing myself. Now it is time for both of us to face our fate." he said and stroked a karate stance, but Ella pulled him away.

"Easy now! Tanaka, you aren't even strong enough to lick a stamp." she said.

"It's true. Right now, our only hope is Sonic." Chris said.

At Thorndyke Manor Sonic entered the living room with several picked flowers.

"Hey!" he said but was surprised to see that no one else was in the room. "Oh... I forgot that everybody's gone but me." he said and set the flowers inside a vase. "You don't see beautiful flowers like these at the seashore." he continued. "The mountains are far superior." he said in posh accent.

Then Chuck entered the room.

"So you're finally here, are you?" he asked.

"Yeah?" Sonic said and Chuck turned on the TV.

"A gang of robot destroyers has been wrecking hotels and resorts all along the Emerald Coast. The situation is growing more dangerous by the hour. Authorities have issued evacuation orders." a news reporter said.

Suddenly a laughing Eggman appeared on the screen and Sonic stared in surprise.

"The owners of the Emerald Coast Resort didn't invite me to their opening, so I knocked it down and turned it into my own vacation destination! It's now... Eggman's Scream Park!" Eggman said.

Sonic looked behind him to see Bokkun with a bomb.

"I brought you a personal invitation! Your friend Chris is already 's having a great time! Stop by; we'll have a real blast!" he said and handed him the bomb, which exploded, blackening his and Chuck's faces.

Bokkun flew away laughing as Sonic shook the ashes off.

"Oh well." he said then ran out of the house, and Chuck stood there, blinking in surprise.

Back at Emerald Coast Amy was using binoculars to spy on the completely destroyed villa. Then she saw Eggman in his Eggmobile, shouting orders.

She gasped.

"It's Eggman!"

Tails maneuvered the X-Tornado for takeoff.

"Out of the way! I've gotta save Chris!" he said.

Suddenly Amy tossed her binoculars to Tails and hoped into the back seat of the X-Tornado.

"Amy, what are you doing?!" he asked.

"Sonic's gonna show up to help, but if he doesn't, Chris is gonna need all the help he can get." she said.

"Okay. Here we go!" he said then closed the hatch, and the X-Tornado took off.

"I hope they make it back safely." Cream said.

At Thorndyke Villa Eggman was directing the setup of his theme park as the Thorndykes looked on.

"Hahaha! Build faster! Don't use too many nails and bolts, and make sure you water down the cement. I want these rides to be the most dangerous in the universe!" he said.

Suddenly Sonic arrived and knocked down one of the attractions.

"Well, well." he said.

"Sonic!" Chris said.

"Hiya, Chris. Thought I'd drop by for a visit." he said and turned to see Eggman and Octoron.

"You fell right into my trap, Sonic. I know you can't swim, so I lured you to the sea! Get him, Octoron!" Eggman said.

As Octoron lashes out with two of its tentacles, Sonic raced forward.

Sonic laughed and dodged the tentacles, and when he was about to land a hit on Octoron, he was stopped by a tentacle beginning to wrap around him.

"You won't get away." Eggman said.

"Oh yeah? Just watch me!" Sonic said.

Then Octoron dunked him into the water.

"Let him go!" Chris said.

"Heheheh! I'm giving Sonic a choice. He can either forfeit the fight, or forfeit his life." Eggman said.

Sonic struggled for another moment before Octoron finally lifted him out of the water.

"Well, how do you like the ocean?"

Sonic spit out some water he swallowed.

"It's dee-lightful!" he said.

"Good. Now let's see how long you're able to stay under."

Octoron lowered Sonic toward the water once more, but he started running in an attempt to break free.

"Don't let Sonic slip out of your grip, Octoron! Haul that hedgehog back into the ocean, and don't let him up for air!"

Octoron stepped down into the water but Sonic saw this and tried to break free with all his might.

"Come on, Octoron! Flex those tentacles!" Eggman said.

Then the X-Tornado arrived.

"Sonic..." Amy said and opened the hatch.

"Amy, wait!" Tails said but she had already leaped out of the X-Tornado.

"Let him goooo!" she said and drew her hammer and slammed it on Octoron's tentacle, severing it.

Then it whipped back into Octoron's body, knocking it down into the water.

"HOW COULD YOU?!" Eggman said.

"Keep your rotten robots away from my Sonic, or you're gonna be sorry!" Amy said.

"Thanks, Amy!" Sonic said and dashed along a section of roller coaster track before jumping off.

"Hey, Sonic!" Tails said and shot a ring toward him and grabbed it.

"Got it!" he said then spin-dashed through Octoron and bounced around a few times inside it before exiting.

Octoron sunk into the water and exploded.

"Oh no!" Eggman said.

Amy ran over and hugged Sonic.

"Sonic!" she said.

"Whoa! Lighten up, Amy!" Sonic said.

"You won this time, but I'm not through!" Eggman said.

"Yeah, right!" Sonic said while flew away then Sonic turned to Amy. "What you did was crazy."

"I know, but you made me do crazy things!" she said as the X-Tornado flew by.

"Everything okay down there?" Tails asked shouting.

"Yeah, Tails! Thanks for the ring!" Sonic shouted out then looked at Amy. "Thank you." he told Amy and started to leave.

"Hey!" she said and he stopped.

She held out the bracelet she made for him.

"Sonic, this is a bracelet I made to protect you in the water." she said.

"Oh... You made it for me?" he said.

"If you wear it, it will bring you good luck."

"Really?"

There was a pause.

'Maybe it'll give me enough luck to get home soon.' he thought.

Just as Sonic was about to take the bracelet, a giant explosion rocked it out of Amy's hands and onto the ground not far from them.

"Your bracelet!" she said.

Then a large number of Quizons stack on top of each other, forming E-39 Serpenter, and crushing Amy's bracelet in the process.

"I can't believe it!" Amy said as Eggman flew in.

"I told you I wasn't through with you, Sonic, didn't I? My Quizons have merged to form Serpenter, and it's ready to strike!" Eggman said. "Impressive, isn't it?"

"Well... that thing is pretty tall. But I bet in a battle it comes up short!" Sonic said.

"You'll need more than speed to survive this robot, Sonic!" Eggman said and Sonic stared clapping.

"Really? Yo, fang face! Let's see how quickly you can slither!" he said and leapt away.

"After him, Serpenter! Get rid of that blue bozo!"

"You heard your boss, slowpoke! Right here! Catch me!"

Amy gathered the broken pieces of the bracelet.

"I guess my charm... wasn't so lucky..." she said and started to cry, letting a few tears fall on the broken bracelet.

There was fire in her eyes when she opened them again.

"All right, Serpenter, you know what to do! Put the squeeze on Sonic and then toss him out to sea!" Eggman said.

"Aaahhh! Now you're gonna pay!" she yelled and drew her hammer and charged toward Serpenter. "Don't mess with me!"

In a move that surprises both Sonic and Eggman, she hammers Serpenter's tail.

"Ouch!" Serpenter said.

"Oh..." Sonic said.

"Oh my..." Eggman said and Serpenter turned toward Amy.

"How dare you do this!" she said and started hammering segment after segment off of Serpenter.

"Oh no... Perhaps I'd better... go..."

With all the segments gone, she repeatedly stroke Serpenter's head.

"Take that and that and that!" she said.

Serpenter's head sprung up, sending her high into the air. She readied her hammer as she sailed toward the Eggmobile. With a mighty blow, she slammed her hammer into the Eggmobile, sending it into the ocean. As it surfaced, Eggman looked up in terror and saw a savage Amy about to strike.

"Take this!" she said.

Sonic watched from the shore as water billowed upward.

"Amy!" he said then took a deep breath and dove into the water.

"I can't believe it! Sonic's swimming!" Tails said shocked.

"No! Sonic!" Chris said but Sonic didn't listen.

He swam toward Amy, who was clutching the bracelet. She briefly opened her eyes.

"No, Sonic. You can't swim..." she said to herself.

Then her eyes closed as she slipped out of consciousness and dreamed of herself and Sonic running together on the beach.

"Hey!... Sonic! Hold on!... Wait for me!" she said.

Sonic finally stopped.

"Wake up, Amy." Sonic said in Cream's voice.

Amy wakes up. It is now sunset, and she is back in the beach chair. Cream is with her.

"Amy! You're awake!" Cream said.

"Where am I?" Amy asked.

"You're back at Chris' villa. They brought you here after you were pulled out of the water."

Amy sat up and looked around.

"Who brought me?"

"Chris and Tails in the X-Tornado."

"Is... Sonic okay?!"

"Yes, but he went back home."

"I see." she said then looked down at her hand and saw the bracelet wasn't there.

"The bracelet's gone... I made it just for him, and now it's gone..." she said and started to cry, bringing tears to Cream's eyes as well.

"Aw, don't cry..."

Amy look up with new resolve.

"It was a good luck bracelet to protect him in the water, but I guess Sonic had good luck anyway.

"I think Sonic's very lucky."

Chris, Tails, and Cheese playing on the beach.

Elsewhere Sonic was sitting on a rock, looking out at the ocean.

Then he sneezed

"Sonic, you've gotta stay out of the water." he said standing there wearing the bracelet Amy made for him.
