A.N. THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF I'M SORRY BABY. WE WILL SEE KLAUS'S FIRST CHEMO AND THE PROBLEMS THAT COME WITH IT. PARANOID CAROLINE AND WHOLE LOT OF OTHER FUN.
Klaus was nervous to say the least. It was his first chemo in his defense. Even though he had trust on his girlfriend to make his chemo comfortable at least. She had already taken off for the hospital since she had a surgery. Klaus had come back from office earlier, regardless of his families attempts to try and swing by his chemo, he straight up refused. He did not want a crowd in the hospital room specially not his dad. His dad was a little bossy and has been over concerned over his well being after he told his family about his disease. He changes out of his suit and into his Henley and starts driving towards the hospital. He enters the ER to meet up with Stefan till the time Caroline was in surgery. He sees Stefan standing near a patient and talking to him and Klaus waits patiently to let Stefan do his work. He switches his phone on, sees the picture of him and Caroline in the lock screen and smiles. He remembers the day he put this on there. It was the day they first said I love you to each other. They had come so far from there. It didn't feel like 2 years. Soon Stefan comes over and sees Klaus smiling while looking at his phone. He peeks in the phone and sees him smiling to a photo of Klaus and Caroline.
Stefan says, "Don't stalk my sister Nik, you look creepy." Klaus closes his phone and looks at Stefan and says, "I can do anything I want to. She is my girlfriend." in a teasing voice. Stefan laughs and says, "Okay okay don't hold out your guns Nik. Anyway, when is your chemo scheduled?" Klaus says, "In half and hour. Care is in a surgery. I told her I would do it alone but she is too stubborn." Stefan chuckles and nods in agreement. They start talking about different thing like Stefan and Rebekah's upcoming marriage, Damon and Elena's upcoming child. Soon Klaus receives a message from Caroline says,' Surgery done. Meet me in the chemo room. I love you. XOXO.' Klaus bids goodbye and starts walking towards the chemo room. He enters the sterilized hall and enter the room assigned to him. There is a nurse standing there, checking the medicines and reports. She asks him to sit down on the recliner and get comfortable till the time the doctor comes. He says, "Did the doctor give any other instruction? " The nurse smiles at the hot guy and says, "No, but you should be careful, you have gotten a control freak doctor." Klaus is shocked but manages to maintain his composure, trying to learn more about what the nurse Hayley thinks about his girlfriend. He says, "Oh really? How is she like?" Hayley is happy knowing that the guy is getting a little interested and says, "Yeah she is a total co-co pants, though she is very good in her job, she has a lot of attitude and is very bitchy sometimes." Klaus chuckles thinking how much trouble the nurse is in. He will obviously not tell Caroline about it but it is good to know just in case. Soon the door opens and the blonde goddess walks in with a white coat on her shoulders while talking on the phone to someone about a particular surgery. She walks in smiles at both of them and cups Klaus's cheek while ending the call and bending down to his level. Klaus sees from the corner of his eyes, the color fading off of Hayley's face. He smirks and Caroline puts her phone in her pocket and now uses both her hands to cup his cheek and says, "Are u ready baby?" Klaus nods and kisses her on the cheek and says, "You don't need to stay here Care, I know you have work." Caroline moves her head in a no and says, " My work here is with you. And I will only leave if there is an emergency." She looks at Hayley and says, "Hayley this is my boyfriend, Klaus. I will be here for todays chemo but I will be busy in the next few ones. It is your job to take care of him okay? He doesn't accept it but he needs help sometimes." Hayley nods and Caroline says, "Can you leave us for a minute Hayley?" Hayley nods and walks out of the room, closing the door. Caroline smiles and kisses him passionately on the lips and says, "I am sorry I left without a morning kiss." Klaus pull her back for another kiss and says, "It's okay." in between kisses. Caroline breaks the kiss after a few minutes of making out and says, "Let's do it?" Klaus nods and Caroline calls back Hayley in to start on his IV. They start the first medicine of chemo and Klaus releases a deep breathe, holding Caroline's hand and hoping that everything goes well.
AN HOUR LATER
Caroline had decieded to do other work while sitting in front of a sleeping Klaus. And hour had passed without any complications and Caroline had convinced him to go to sleep to make the process go faster. She keeps looking over at him, praying to all the gods that there are not side effects to the chemo. Soon Hayley comes in with the new dosage of medicine and sees Klaus sleeping. She asks in a low whisper and says, "It's good he's asleep. Will help to pass is over easily." Caroline nods. Hayley continues, "If you don't mind me asking, I didn't know he was your boyfriend." Caroline smiles, moves forward to put a small curl of his hair out of his face and says, "Yeah, he doesn't to the hospital that much. He hates it here." laughs lightly.
Hayley remains quite, happy that Klaus had not told Caroline about how she bad mouthed her. She passes Caroline the medicine and Caroline starts inserting the medicine in the IV tube. The disturbance causes Klaus to wake up in alarm. Caroline immediately bends down and says, "Shh Nik, It's me. Calm down." Klaus settles down and asks, "How much longer?" Caroline smiles and says, "Just 2 hours more baby. You can watch some tv or go back to sleep if you want. I am right here." Klaus switches on the television and starts watching a football match when a knock on the door is heard. Caroline opens the door and sees Mikael, Rebekah and Esther standing with a bouquet of flowers. She hugs each of them and Klaus then says, "Didn't I told you guys to not come." Mikael smiles, hugs his son and says, "Yeah well, we didn't listen to you." Klaus chuckles and says, "Hi dad, mom, Beks." Esther and Rebekah hug him too and they start talking, making sure Klaus is distracted by the conversation. Soon a nurse comes running inside the room and looks at Caroline and says, "Dr. Forbes, emergency. Patient with water filling in the lungs, lungs cancer." Caroline gets up and looks at the alarmed audience, Mikael nods and says, "Go ahead Caroline, we will take care of him." Caroline nods and starts running towards the OT with her coat, giving Klaus a last glance.
2 HOURS LATER
Caroline has just changed her into her normal clothes from the scrubs after a very complicated surgery. The patient in now stabilized and the second the leaves the room after doing the patients test she sees Hayley running towards her and says, "Dr. Forbes, Klaus is vomiting, blood vomiting. He has been calling for you." Caroline gets scared and starts running towards Klaus's room in full speed. She reaches the hall and see a bunch of nurses holding Mikael, Rebekah and Esther out of the room.
Caroline can hear Klaus's groans of pain and runs in the room to see Stefan holding a pan in front of him while he pukes. Caroline runs to him and Stefan says, "I gave him a Pepto but his pain is not stopping." Caroline nods at her brother and moves to the medical cart and pulls out a syringe filled with a medicine. She takes Klaus's hand and slowly inserts the medicine in his body, looking at her watch, counting seconds as the normal procedure. A minute later he stops puking and moves back to sit on the recline with an exhausted look on his face. Caroline goes and closes his Chemo IV as it was nearly over.
She sighs and sits down on the chair, hiding her face in her arms as Mikael, Esther and Rebekah walk in the room to check on Klaus. Stefan walks over to Caroline and pulls her into a hug. She cries into her brother's arms and says, "What is the use of me being an oncologist if I can't help him Stef?" in a very low voice. Stefan says, "No Care, you are helping him. He is being able to go through all this because of you Care- Bear." Caroline cries a little bit more and Stefan holds her in attempts to calm his twin down. Mikael, Esther and Rebekah decide to leave to give the couple some privacy. They knew that no one can take better care of Klaus than Caroline.
Klaus opens with eyes and looks at his crying girlfriend. It breaks his heart that he made her cry. He says in a hoarse voice, "Care sweetheart, please come here." Caroline gets up, wipes her tears and walks towards Klaus. As she is on the foot of his recliner Klaus moves forward and pulls her by her legs, which makes her fall into Klaus's chest. She tries to get up saying, "No Nik, you are still sensitive." but Klaus maintains his tight grip around her waist. Caroline eventually gives up, looks up to cup his cheek and says, "Are you okay Nik?" Klaus nods and pulls her more towards himself and says, "I am sorry love, for making you cry." Caroline says, "I am sorry Nik, I am not able to help you. What is the use of me being a doctor if I can't help you." Klaus then says, "You are helping me sweetheart. I would be nothing without you." and pulls her in for a deep kiss.
9 MONTHS, 6 CYCLES AND 12 CHEMOS LATER
It was finally the time that everyone has been waiting for. Caroline was the most excited for his results. They had just done his pet- scan yesterday and the results were coming out today. They would decide along with the biopsy results whether Klaus was cleared for the rest of his life of not. Caroline woke up in the morning super joyful and even pulled Klaus into the shower with her. Klaus was happy just by seeing his girlfriend as a ray of light after a very long time. She leaves for the hospital, promising to call him once his reports come and that they will open them together. Klaus left for work too since he had time to kill and he had to work on a few cases.
Half an hour after entering his office, his dad comes in with an angry face. Mikael says, "What are you doing here? Don't you have reports coming out today?" Klaus sighs and says, "Dad Caroline will call me when they come. I have time to kill and work to do so why not come to the office." Mikael makes a frown and says, "Are you comfortable Niklaus? Do you want something?" Klaus says, "Dad chill, I am fine. I am just doing work till the time Care doesn't call." as if at que his phone starts ringing and he sees Caroline contact name. He picks up the call and Caroline's excited voice comes from behind, "Come on babe. Come to the hospital. The reports are here." and Klaus smiles and says, "I 'll be there sweetheart." and he starts to clean up his desk of paperwork. Mikael suddenly says, "No what are you doing? You have an assistant for that. Go go the hospital now!" Klaus stands up while putting his hands up and picking his coat up and says, "Going dad, going."
THE HOSPITAL
Klaus knocks on Caroline's door and hears a faint come in. He enters and sees Caroline engrossed in her phone and when she looks up she stands up and walks up to him, pulling him by his suit jacket and locking his lips in hers. He immediately reacts putting his hands on her ass and pulling her close to him. Caroline breaks the kiss after a few minutes of making out and says, "Ready?" Klaus nods and sits down on the chair, pulling Caroline with him on his lap. Caroline giggles as she picks up the report form the table and nervously looks at Klaus. Klaus nods and Caroline slowly opens the report. She reads for a few minutes looks up and pulls Klaus into a passionate and deep kiss. Klaus pulls her to him even more and breaks the kiss and says, "I assume it means I'm cleared?" Caroline nods and smiles and says, "God I love you." Klaus kisses her again and says, "I love you too sweetheart."
