Part 12
A month and a half later
Caitlin woke to find Barry's arms wrapped tightly around her. He had moved in with her officially just after the returned from Starling City. She had to admit she enjoyed waking up every morning in Barry's arms.
"Morning beautiful." Said Barry kissing the back of her neck.
"Morning Bare. So are you coming tonight?"
"I am planning to. I mean the activation of the particle accelerator could change everything we know about physics. The only way I will miss it is if some big case comes up at work."
"Then I will make sure your name is left at security so that you can get in. Maybe if you get there early enough I might be able to get you into the cortex."
"That would be so cool! Think I might be able to meet Dr. Wells?"
"I might be able to arrange that."
"Cool. By the way did you here that archer in Starling City is calling himself the Green Arrow now?"
"Yeah I heard. That is much better than the Hood don't you think?"
"Do you know who he is?"
"No of course not. Why would you think that?"
"I never said you did. I just ask if you did. I mean he did save you when you were there at Christmas."
"Yeah well it was not like I planned to get kidnapped. But I am glad he was able to rescue me. But I have no idea who he really is."
"Well then we should get ready to head to work. That way hopefully I will be able to be there tonight."
"Yeah call me later and let me know if you are going to make it or not."
"I will. I love you Cait."
"Love you Barry."
The two of them kissed and then got up and got ready to head in to work. For Caitlin it was going to be a very long day. There was a lot to do before the big event that night. The particle accelerator was schedule to be turned on at 7pm that night. After grabbing her things she headed for Jitters before going to Star labs. It was early so other than mostly police officers the place was mostly empty. Caitlin was able to walk right up to the counter to place her order.
"Hey Caitlin. You're earlier then normal." Said Iris West, Barry's foster sister.
"Hi Iris. Yeah tonight is the night we turn on the particle accelerator. There is a lot to do for it. So I need to get there early. So I am going to get a extra large mocha non fat latte and two of those blueberry muffins. Oh and throw in two of the chocolate cronouts and two double chocolate chip muffins."
Seeing the look on Iris's face Caitlin let out a small laugh.
"They are not all for me. If Cisco and Ronnie find out I came here and didn't bring them anything they will never let me hear the end of it."
"I was going to say. Because there is no way you could keep that figure if you ate all of that."
"Yeah and I get the feeling that not even with the workouts I get with Barry, I would be able to burn off all those calories."
"Caitlin, I hope you know that I am glad the two of you found each other. You make him happy."
"He does the same for me. My brother use to tell me that I needed to get my nose out of my books when I was a teenager."
"I didn't know you had a brother. Is he hot? I mean on a scale of Oliver Queen being super hot to the low end of Herman Munster."
Caitlin bite her lip. There was no way that she was going to tell Iris that her brother was Oliver.
"Well I don't look at my brother that way. But the way girls were so hung up on him I would say in the Oliver Queen category."
"Awesome. Here is your order. Have a good day and good luck tonight."
"Thanks Iris."
Caitlin walked out to her car with her box of pastries and coffee. She then drove off to Star Labs.
Barry walked into CCPD and was going to head up to the crime lab but was stopped by Joe.
"Bare, we got a case. Come on don't want Singh to get mad at you. I know you want to go to that thing tonight at Star Labs." Said Joe
"Right. Let's go."
They headed to the crime scene which turned out to be a bank robbery. While Joe and Eddie talked to witnesses Barry gathered the evidence. Including noticing that the getaway car used was nearly the same make and model as Caitlin's. He also found animal manure in the tire prints which told them that the robbers were most likely using a farm to hide out on. Unfortunately for Barry he was not able to finish his analysts of the evidence in time to make it to Star Labs. At six thirty he called Caitlin.
"Hey it's me. I am not going to make it over there in time. I am still waiting on some evidence to finish up."
"That sucks. I know how much you wanted to be here."
"I do have the coverage on TV here in my lab. I have to say you look very sexy on that stage during the press conference."
"Thank you. Now when you get home don't wait up. I probably won't be able to get out of here until after midnight."
"You know me. I will try and stay up for you."
"Yes I do Mr. Allen. Love you."
"Love you Dr. Snow."
Barry hung up and went back to work. Nearly an hour later as he was starting to get ready to close up the lab including shutting the skylight covers an explosion rocked the city. Barry watched as a beam of light shot into the sky from Star Labs. Before he could react a bolt of lightning shot down through the skylight hitting him due to his hands still being on the chains to the cover. He was sent flying into a shelf full of chemicals. Everything going black.
