I follow close behind Zelda, ever since the storm I feel like I can talk freely with her like I feel, safe? Is that the right word, nevertheless, Zelda stops near the edge, looking down on some guardians, I take a peek, and she sheikah working with them.
"Incredible, we're at a point where we can actually control them. At the current rate, we'll soon know all we will need to know about the guardians and divine beasts! And should Ganon ever show itself again, we'll be in a position to defend ourselves" Zelda says, she always sounds so enthusiastic when talking about guardians and divine beasts it's kind of cut- no there's no chance in Din that I was about to call the princess cute, I am a knight, that is all I'll ever be.
"What are you doing out here, Zelda?" I hear the King's booming voice as he walks toward me and Zelda, I bow down, staring at the floor, the King has always been intimidating, atleast I can avoid eye contact, unlike Zelda. After a couple of seconds of silence, I hear Zelda start talking.
"I… I was assessing the results of the experiments with the guardians." Zelda seems worried but keeps her voice steady, I would loathe being in her situation.
"These pieces of ancient technology could be quite useful against the-" Zelda then gets cut off from her father
"I know that." The King's voice is steady without doubt, unlike Zelda, like he is staring right through her with cold eyes.
"They are essential to Hyrule's future, and our research demands that we keep a close eye on them." The King solidified his point, I am happy that as a knight I am required to bow in his presence.
"However, as the princess of Hyrule, you currently have a crucial, unfulfilled responsibility to your kingdom."I hear Zelda sigh from that sentence, she really is pushing herself, I just pray he doesn't continue to stress her, from personal experience, it does the opposite of help.
"Let me ask you once more, when will you stop treating this as some sort of childish game?" Even with her father treating her as a peasant she hasn't cut him off yet, I guess she does have respect left for him.
"I'm doing everything I can." I can hear Zelda's voice crack in that sentence, I hope everything turns out fine.
"I'll have you know that I just recently returned from the Spring of Courage where I offered every ounce of my prayers to the Goddesses-" Zelda gets cut off again by the King.
"And you are here wasting your time. You need to dedicate every moment you have to your training. You must be single-minded in unlocking the power that will seal Calamity Ganon away." I can tell Zelda will be mad about this, she is a human, like everyone here she can't just give up her passions.
"I already am. Don't you see- there is nothing more I can do! My hope is… My hope is that you- That you'll allow me to contribute here in whatever way I can." This seemed to have made the King angry at Zelda.
"No more excuse, Zelda! Stop running away from your duty." Just like my father, he won't take anything an inch away from perfection.
"As the King, I forbid you to have anything to do with these machines, from this moment onwards, and command you to focus on your training." I hear Zelda gasp from this, I feel horrible for her, just to have one of the only things you looked forward to just stripped from you.
"Do you know how the gossip mongers refer to you?" I've always hated the gossip mongers, they add nothing to the kingdom but mistrust.
"They are out there at this moment whispering among themselves, that you are the heir to a throne to nothing, nothing but failure" I see in my peripheral vision Zelda put her hand into a fist, obviously she also hates the gossip mongers.
"It is woven into your destiny that you prove them wrong, Do you understand?" The King says in a voice that has a tad bit of sorrow, atleast he knows his daughter is upset about this.
"Yes, I understand." Zelda complies with the King as he turns back to us and walks toward the tower, back into the Castle. He closes the door and I rise from my stance. Zelda then turns to me.
"Come on, we must go to the Spring of Power in Akkala." She then speedwalks back into the other tower and I follow close behind.
"We must prove the gossip mongers and father wrong no matter what it takes," Zelda says now with new strength in her voice, I make a noise, voicing my agreement as we continue down the stairs of the tower.
Zelda's Journal
"Father scolded me again today. He told me I am to have nothing more to do with researching ancient technology. He insisted that I focus instead on training that will help me awaken my sealing magic. I was so frustrated and ashamed I could not even speak. I've been training since I was a child, and yet... Mother passed the year before my training was to begin. In losing her, I lost not just a mother, but a teacher. Mother used to smile and tell me, "Zelda, my love, all will be well in the end. You can do anything." But she was wrong. No matter how I try or how much time passes...the sealing power that is my birthright evades me. Tomorrow I journey with Lynk to the Spring of Power to train. But this, too, will end in failure. Such is my curse."
