Preface: Hello, again! I'm sure you know what day it is, but I'm gonna keep zip about it... Anyhoo, this is the last chapter of the Overworld Saga, and you'll get a nice preview of things to come in the future! On we go!

THE OVERWORLD SAGA:
DOPPEL STRIKES BACK!
Previously...Minecraft players Danny, Liam, and Kevin finally finished their quest to defeat the gangerman king Doppel, with Kevin unleashing the purifier on the king to defeat him for good.
Now...they all celebrate their victory, unaware that Perinton Pig had been watching the whole time...

Chapter 10:
Minds of Power, Part Five -
And the Universe Said I Love You 3000

The white of the screen faded, and Liam saw the familiar sight of the normal ender dragon's defeat. The exit portal had been activated, the dragon egg was sitting there, and tons of experience points were scattered around. In fact, the endermen had returned, and everyone had reverted to their normal forms.
"Uh, guys?" he said. "I think we just won."
Danny regained his wits. "We won," he repeated. "We won! Yes!"
Everyone began to happily dance around, running through the experience points to pick them up. "I'm just as elated as you all are!" said Buzzer. "You did it, Kevin! Doppel is finally done for!"
"So does that mean we saved the universe?" asked Kevin, bathing in experience orbs.
"For now," they all suddenly heard a voice say. Everyone turned around and saw a holographic screen with Perinton Pig looking down on them. "But you still have yours truly to deal with."
"What have you got against us, Perinton?" said Danny.
"Oh, I'm going to continue where Doppel left off," Perinton answered. "I have all his plans, and he left me in charge of the gangermen." He sneered mockingly. "Enjoy your holidays, Minecraft Maniacs. But in a couple of months, we will meet again." After that, the screen vanished without a trace.
"(So...we're not done yet?)" said Spawny.
"Guess not," said Liam.
"Oh, bah!" said Kevin. "Humbug!"
"But the Gadgets of Order did not only allow Kevin to directly defeat Doppel," said Buzzer. "It also gave you all the power to travel to the dimension where the next set lies!"
"The next dimension?" asked Kevin. "Which one is that?"
"We'll get to that some other time," said Buzzer. "For now, let's just collect that dragon egg!"
"Oh, of course!" said Danny. He walked up to the exit portal and covered it up with his cobblestone, then Kevin placed the Mega Piston near the egg. Since it wasn't being used defensively, it remained the size of a normal piston and pushed the egg off of its plinth, after which Danny grabbed it.
"Well, that's that," said Liam, wiping his hands. "Ready to head back?"
"Born ready," said Danny, mining up the stone. "On 3, guys!"
The six stood in front of the portal, counted to three, and jumped in, ready to reap the rewards they would've gotten either way.

[Current Location: Planet of the Gangermen, Royal Lair]
Perinton turned off his transmitter and sighed. He was holding in the stress of Doppel's death very well, and one little thing would help him feel better about it.
The scarfed gangermen entered the room, holding a glass bottle. "Lord Perinton, we just came back from the spirits room," said the green-scarfed one. "Is this what you're looking for?"
Perinton looked at the bottle. Sitting there was a spirit that he recognized the face of Doppel in. "Yes, very well," he said. "Sit tight, sire. You'll be free, soon."
"What are you going to do now?" asked the blue-scarfed gangerman.
Perinton turned back to the camera system. "The next set of Order Gadgets lay in this dimension," he explained, typing on the keyboard, "and I will work on a way to ensure the Minecraft Maniacs don't receive them."
The gangermen stared at the screen. It depicted a cartoonish world they couldn't help but feel was made out of playing bricks. The biggest thing that stood out to them was the giant castle shaped like a pink kitten with a blue unicorn horn…
"Are you going to start immediately?" asked the green-scarfed one.
Perinton checked to make sure the transmitter wasn't on. "No," he answered, "in fact, I'm going to properly react to Doppel's death now." And then he screamed from panic and ran out of the room.

After the ever-welcoming words of the End Poem, we all found ourselves at the motel we stayed at in Thingville. Unfortunately for us, another group of players were using it. "Hey, what gives?" one of them asked.
"Gah! Sorrysorrysorrysorry…" I said as we all promptly ran out of the building and then out of the town.
Liam stretched. "I dunno about you guys," he said, "but the End Poem felt a lot more empowering right then."
Buzzer flew into my inventory and took out the dragon egg. "Now then, if my prediction is correct, we should make a shrine for this egg," he explained.
"Where should we put the shrine?" asked Kevin.
"I have an idea…"
[Location Change: Private World, Jungle Alcove]
That's how we made the shrine in an alcove near Kevin's lab. It was made of quartz, with the egg sitting on a chiseled block of the stuff, plus a gold roof for when we would add a beacon.
"Does this look right?" asked Kevin, once we finished.
"Exactly as foretold," said Buzzer. "We're one step closer to ensuring protection of the multiverse."
"Well, now that that's settled," said Liam, "can we log off?"
"Yes, you can," said Buzzer. "Oh, and Kevin?"
"Yeah?" said Kevin, turning towards the minecart track.
"We should begin doing our work on the next dimension soon," Buzzer responded. "Don't worry - with my help, it shouldn't take very long."
"Okay, then," said Kevin. He placed down a minecart and he and the rabborgs hopped in. "Happy holidays, guys!" he called as he pulled off.
"You coming, Buzzer?" I asked.
"You go on," Buzzer answered. He was staring at the shrine a little strangely.
"Okay," I said, climbing into a minecart with Pork Chop and Liam. "See you next time."
As the three of us rode along, I had thoughts on my mind. "Why do you think he was staring at the shrine so weirdly?" I asked Liam.
"Well, he's from the future," Liam suggested. "Maybe he's trying to prevent some kind of catastrophic disaster."
"That does seem to be how these things go," I agreed. "But how does the shrine fit into all of this?"
"Eh, let's not worry about it right now," Liam shrugged. "We should worry about next year. It's already just seven days away!"
"Oh, please," I answered, "I doubt it'll be any worse than these past few years." If I were able to go back and correct myself right then, I sure would.
"Whatever," said Liam. The minecart stopped at his house on the beach and he climbed out. "See you next year!" he called as I began to ride to my house.
I waved back and enjoyed the breeze as I rode back. The minecart stopped at my house, and me and Pork Chop climbed out. After letting the pig into the pen, I entered the house, climbed into bed to set my spawn point, and logged off for the day.
[World Change: Real World]
[Location Change: His House]
I closed the iPad and walked over to the table to plug it in. But I still couldn't help but think about why Buzzer was here. What was so bad about the future? The thought seriously excited me. And when I get seriously excited...I have to poop. And so, I ran into the bathroom and put aside the thought for the time being.
I knew I had to revisit it later, though. Just like my problems.

Buzzer looked around, making sure that the players were gone. He didn't want to let them know what happened in his future yet. It looks like they're gone… he thought. After that, he spun around and vanished without a trace.

The future that Buzzer was from was an absolute mess. It looked almost like different universes had been put into a blender, with a couple of bits looking like they had anthropomorphic animals inhabiting them. Two others looked like bright and cheery kingdoms. And another part looked almost like the real world. Each section was separated by areas that looked almost like Hell.
The shrine had been preserved, with a psychic aura surrounding it. Buzzer reappeared in it, and looked around, pleased. He was met with the sight of a companion of his, who was also a psychic time traveler. "Looks like part of the shrine's done!" Buzzer's companion said, cheerfully.
"Yes! The heroes are just as well-working as I've heard," answered Buzzer. "How has your study of the Catalyst been going?"
"I think I have a new lead," Buzzer's companion said. "It looks like the two have met, and they haven't seen each other for a while, so their wish to see each other again has deepened their bond." He smiled. "Kinda like one of my...special friends."
"But have they fallen in love yet?" asked Buzzer.
"Dude, we talked about this," his companion continued. "They're only kindergarteners. The correct terminology is 'developing a crush.' And even then, why is romance so important in the first place? I mean, they're just kids!"
"I...am questioning that myself," Buzzer said. "I'm going to go and visit the Guardian." After that, he spun around and vanished once more.
[World Change: Guardian's World]
[Location Change: The Master Shrine]
[BGM: Antimo & Welles - Map Room]
Buzzer found himself in a dark blue chamber, with a giant emerald in the middle that was surrounded by seven smaller, grey emeralds. The figure the fly only knew as the Guardian was caught off-guard by Buzzer's sudden appearance. "What are you?" the Guardian shouted, getting into a defensive position.
"It's me, Buzzer," answered the fly. "I was forced to abandon my body and enter this eye of ender."
The Guardian didn't understand part of what Buzzer had said, but he got the main gist of it. "Okay," he said, a little uneasy. "Are you here for that ritual?"
"Of course," said Buzzer. "And I have a new lead on the Catalyst, so we may have more definite results this time."
The Guardian rolled his eyes. "When are you gonna tell me what that 'Catalyst' thing is?" he asked.
"All in due time," Buzzer insisted. "Now, let's get this over and done with."
The Guardian sat on the big emerald and crossed his legs. He said an ancient prayer handed down to him through the generations, and Buzzer created holographic images of the players and the rabborgs on the smaller emeralds. The emerald where Spawnette's hologram was on began to glow brightly, pleasing Buzzer. The holograms disappeared and the Guardian got back up on his feet. "What were the results this time?" he asked Buzzer.
"Although none of the figures have made contact with the emeralds," answered Buzzer, "the results were more definitive than when we attempted your friends. The Catalyst must be almost ready."
"I wouldn't say they're my friends," insisted the Guardian. "They're more like…allies." He took out a scroll he had that read 'The Chosen Ones and their Vessels" and looked at the row featuring the heads of the players and rabborgs. He put an 'x' on Spawnette's head and circled Spawny, Danny, Liam, and Kevin's heads. "So, are we looking at this world next?" he asked, pointing to the next row. It depicted the heads of a pink cat with a unicorn horn, a blue dog with his own horn, a fox wearing glasses, and some kind of brick with a face.
"Indeed," said Buzzer. "You may or may not recognize it." He focused and used his mind to create an image of a bright and cheery kingdom that seemed to be made of playing bricks.
"Oh, yeah!" said the Guardian. "Some of my allies have told me about this place. I think they called it the Unikingdom!"
The Overworld Saga is over! Next time: the first interlude!

Next chapter: Before the next part of the heroes' journey begins, Danny's getting a special sneak peak! Breaking out a special VR headset to actually enter the game, he's ready to try out Kevin's new mod! We're sadly unable to leave the chapter title right here, but it's gonna lead right into a brand new saga! The first half of a two-part interlude!
Postface: There we go. The Minds of Power arc, and with it, The Overworld Saga, is over. It's pretty satisfying knowing that the first leg is done. What about the ending, though? Does it seem...familiar? Hmm...you may want to return to my first story...
With this, I consider Phase 1 of my itinerary to be done. What's to come? Well, the rest of Minecraft Maniacs RPG will take up the majority of it, but alongside it, there's gonna be some more side-stories that will just be for fun! And, there's gonna be a whole boatload of one-shots!
