-3rd Person POV-
"Happy Holidays!" Everyone toasted, raising their cups. It was the first of many planned parties throughout the week, and everyone was excited for the evenings when they took place. Six agreed to the parties, calling off the evenings of any official training so the ops can celebrate, and she was even at the party, currently having a chat with Thatcher.
"This is gonna be a good week" Kali smiled, flopping onto the couch where some of the SAS decided to put on 'Die Hard'.
"You said it babe" Ace chuckled, snuggling into her as they both enjoyed the movie.
"You guys seriously still think this is a holiday movie?" Caveira asked, smirking.
"Yes, and it forever will be, now hush" Sledge ordered. Caveira shrugged, and wandered over to join Doc at the drink table, where we was having a chat with Rook.
"So you're saying rainbow sprinkles are the way forward with the doughnuts?" Doc asked Rook, taking a sip of his drink. Caveira cocked her head at the odd conversation.
"Absolutely! Then you get all the textures: soft doughnut, sprinkles, etc." Rook spoke, refilling his cup with hot chocolate.
"Dare I ask the topic of chat?" Caveira asked as she melted into Doc, enjoying his comfort.
"Oh, hey Taina. We were just talking about best doughnut toppings" Doc summed up, earning a laugh from Caveira.
"Yeah, and this guy seems to think just plain icing is good enough" Rook told her, pointing to Doc.
"Because it is" Doc smirked, looking at Caveira. "What do you think babe?" Caveira put her hand to her chin, looking to be deep in thought.
"You're both wrong. Glazed is the way to go" she smiled up at Doc.
"I thought you didn't like sweets?" Rook asked. Caveira shrugged, grabbing a red and green frosted cookie.
"Even I can't resist a bit of sugar during holidays" she smirked, biting into the cookie. They shared a laugh, and heard a camera go off. Caveira whipped around and saw Kali laying on the couch holding out her phone towards them.
"Sorry, but Taina having sugar is a seriously rare sight." she stated, letting out a dry laugh. Caveira calmed down quickly, and nodded.
"Not wrong" she agreed.
"Get back here Bosak!" someone called out.
"Never!" someone else responded. Rook looked down the hall where the voices came from, and nearly had to duck out of the way to avoid getting hit in the face by a styrofoam X-wing. Shortly after the rebel ship entered the common area, a TIE advanced flew in, followed by Ela and Jaeger, holding controllers, smiles across their faces.
"Care to explain?" Rook asked.
"Just having fun" Ela spoke, sending the X-wing into a steep nosedive. Jaeger followed with the TIE, but played smart, keeping the dive shallow. They chased each other around a bit, narrowly missing everyone in the common room.
"You two are lucky I'm in a good mood" Caveira retorted, flopping onto the couch.
"Ah let loose a bit Taina" Ash instructed. "It's the holiday season! Lighten up!" Caveira growled, but eventually, sighed and nodded.
"No promises" she spoke. The sound of TIE fighter laser fire filled the room, and all heads immediately went to the drones. The sound continued, but no visible lasers were seen.
"Someone care to explain?" Fuze asked.
"Infrared" Ela spoke up, narrowly missing being shot down. She pulled out of a steep incline, flipped, and open fired, right into Jaeger's flight path. An explosion was played through the drone's speaker, and the TIE advanced hit the ground, with relative gentleness. Ela let out a cheer, and did a small victory dance. "I win!"
"Yeah yeah, don't get your hopes completely up. I'm gunning for you next time" Jaeger promised, grabbing his drone and setting it on a table. "Right now, I'm kinda hungry" he said, making his way to the snack table. Ela shrugged.
"Eh, me too" she admitted, walking over as well.
"Where did you guys get those?" Ash asked.
"I got them" Zofia admitted, raising her hand. Ash gave her a look that said 'seriously?', to which Zofia shrugged. "What? You can't tell me they're still kids at heart. Annoying kids at that". Ash chuckled at the comment.
"Love ya too, sis" Ela spoke from the snack table, smirking. A laugh was shared around the room.
"Hey, who made the gingerbread loaf?" IQ asked. Dokkaebi and Pulse both raised their hands, looking at her. She gave them a stare before a smile formed on her face. "Amazing job, you two. This stuff is so freaking good!" she exclaimed, grabbing, from what Nomad could see, her fifth piece.
"Save some for the others, Monika" she chuckled. IQ smirked.
"Sanaa, there's way more than enough." she chuckled, earning a confirming nod from Pulse. Chuckling, Nomad gave in.
"Very well. Go crazy."
"But not too crazy!" Sledge stepped in from the couch. "I don't want to deal with another one of your sugar rushes." IQ laughed out loud.
"Don't worry, I'm controlling myself." she promised, nibbling at the gingerbread and flopping down next to Sledge.
"She's definitely gonna gain a few after this week" Nomad whispered to Valkyrie, who nodded.
"Guaranteed" she whispered back.
"Sanaa, Meghan". The two girls turned around to find Maverick looking at them, eyebrow raised.
"Oh, hi Erik. What's up?" Valkyrie asked. Maverick chuckled, gave Nomad a kiss on the cheek, and grabbed a cookie.
"Be nice. Monika is your friend" he spoke, biting the cookie.
"Oh, we're just being playful" Valkyrie promised. "No harm done"
"Besides, I can say I agree with them!" IQ called from the couch. Nomad and Valkyrie looked at each other, eyes wide.
"You...you heard that?" Nomad asked.
"Yep" IQ nodded.
"And you're not offended?" Valkyrie asked, finishing a cupcake. IQ shrugged.
"At the rate we're going, it's gonna be hard to when I weigh less than you two combined" she sassed. A wave of 'oooooohhhhhh' filled the room, followed by laughter from everyone, including Nomad and Valkyrie.
"Well, she's not wrong" Nomad nodded. Maverick draped his arm around her shoulders, chuckling. After a few minutes of chatter, Ash got up, and called out, gaining everyone's attention.
"Everyone having fun!?" she asked. Everyone cheered, including Six, raising her glass. "Well, for tonight's party, I have one last surprise"
"What is it?" Kapkan called out.
"Well, if you would just turn your attention to the window, you will see". As soon as she said that bit, everyone looked out the fairly large window of the common room, and gasped. Snow fell onto the ground, covering it in a thick, white layer of joyfulness.
"So that's what you needed the snow machine for?" IQ asked.
"She has a snow machine?" Vigil asked, saying his first line of the night (to someone besides Nokk)
"Yep, Monika and I had to buy her one" Sledge nodded. Ash took a sharp inhale.
"Well...turns out i didn't need that for this week" she admitted. Sledge and IQ looked at her confused.
"Explain" IQ ordered. Ash chuckled.
"What's outside is real snow. Mother Nature's finest. As for the machine, I'll pay you both back the money for it" she promised. Sledge and IQ nodded.
"Wait, so you mean to say, it's snowing in Hereford?" Caveira asked, still skeptical.
"I can assure you, Eliza is correct" Six stepped in. "The snow outside is real snow". Everyone then cheered at the fact that Hereford was getting something other than rain.
"Now then. I propose we have a little fun in the snow. Who's in?" Ash asked. Immediately, everyone raised their hands, including Six, Thatcher, and Nokk. "Well, then let's go!" she said, excitedly. After getting on some warmer layers, all of Team Rainbow enjoyed a relaxed night, having fun in the snow. Snowballs were thrown, forts were built, and leisurely strolls were taken. Most important, however, was then everyone had a huge smile on their faces, enjoying the first of many holiday parties to come that week.
