Chapter 5: The Last Jedi

Everyone in the hangar was scattered after the Raddus made it's blow.

Rose, "Finn! DJ! There's a shuttle back that way! We gotta go!"

Before they could run, Phasma and her firing squad all stood before them, ready to shoot them.

Phasma, "traitor!"

But before they could shoot the three of them, blaster bolts started firing at them rapidly.

Phasma, "what?"

The bolts simply bounced off of Phasma's armor as her forces were shot up!

Finn, "BB-8!"

They could see the small droid using the legs of an AT-ST to shoot at the troopers.

DJ and Rose started to run with Finn trailing behind.

But he was stopped by Phasma, who held a large metal pipe in her hands, using it as a weapon.

Rose, "Finn!"

Finn, "run! I'll catch up!"

Rose and DJ begrudgingly left Finn as he dodged Phasma's attacks.

Phasma, "I don't think so. You are a bug in the system."

Finn, "let's go, chrome-dome. Come on!"

Finn dodged the attacks as best as he could, but was soon thrown to the ground. Luckily, he found a mace-weapon and used it to fight back.

The fight was furious, with Finn slowly gaining the upper hand!

The two locked weapons as Phasma said, "you were always scum."

Finn, "rebel scum."

Finn pushed Phasma away, and swung his weapon as hard as he could, cracking the glass over her left eye, and sending her a good couple of feet away, separating the two with a wall of fire.

Before Finn turned away, he saw Phasma glaring at him with the eye he could see.

But then Finn heard a noise, and turned to see Rose, DJ and BB-8 piloting the AT-ST.

Rose, "hey! Need a lift?"

Then quickly got on as the four of them quickly made their way to one of the remaining shuttles, and quickly used it to escape the hangar before it was engulfed in flames!

Little did they know, Phasma had escaped in her own shuttle.

And she was put for blood.

But she would bide her time. She knew she would have her revenge soon enough….

….

Kylo Ren wakes up alone in the throne room.

Hux was there, gazing at the body of Snoke.

Hux, "what happened?"

Kylo, "the girl and SkyWalker murdered Snoke. What happened?"

Hux, "they took Snoke's escape craft."

Kylo, "we know where they are going. Get all our forces down to that Resistance base. Let's finish this."

Hux, "finish this? Who do you think you're talking to? You presumed to command my army? Our Supreme Leader is dead! We have no ruler!"

Ren turned and began choking Hux with the force.

Kylo, "the Supreme Leader is dead."

Hux, "long live the Supreme Leader."

Kylo let Hux go and said, "meet me at my shuttle."

Hux nodded shakily as he ran off.

Kylo quickly turned and pressed a button on Snoke's throne, flinging his two halves away.

In front of him, a hologram appeared.

Seemingly hanging in the air was a cloaked figure.

He spoke in a familiar creepy voice, "where is Snoke?"

Kylo, "dead. Killed by my hand."

Silence hung for a moment.

And then the figure started to laugh.

And that's when we get a good look at him.

His fingers are all twisted and gnarled, with Nine showing.

His face was deathly pale, his right eye milky white, the other showing a little bit of yellow.

The left part of his face showed bone through down skin peeled down to it.

It was Palpatine!

Alive!

No…. Not alive.

His body was dead, but still held his spirit within it.

Palpatine, "so, my dear granddaughter refused to join you? As did SkyWalker's son? And now, you have total power over the First Order?"

Kylo nodded.

Palpatine, "you've become a much bigger cog within the machine. I am going to send you a map. There is an artifact you will need, if you wish to find me. Until then, make the Resistance pay. So all of the galaxy will know of Kylo Ren!"

Ren nods as the transmission ends...

….

The rebels were all running into the base as fast as they could.

They could see a shuttle making its way towards them fast!

Leia, "they're coming, shut the door."

A soldier yelled, "incoming!"

Poe, "go, go, move! Get that shield door down and take cover!"

The ship crashed before the doors could close.

Everyone surrounded it as the top of the shuttles opened.

Everyone was ready to shoot before Finn, Rose and DJ burst out.

Rose, "no! Wait, don't shoot! It's us! No, don't shoot!"

Poe, "hold your fire!"

Finn, "don't shoot!"

Pold "hold your fire!"

DJ, "please d-d-do what he says!"

Leia, "Finn?"

Poe, "Finn! Rose! You're not dead! Where's my droid?"

DJ, "oh s-sure. Worry m-m-more about about the d-d-d-droid."

BB-8 made his way to Poe as Finn, Rose and DJ were welcomed by the others.

The trio had managed to get back into their normal clothes beforehand.

Poe, "buddy! I'm so glad to see you! Wait, what? Wait, wait, wait, slow down."

Rose, "is this all that's left?"

Poe and Leia gave sad nods.

DJ felt regret at how weak he was. His weakness had cost more lives than he wished?"

Later….

Poe, "all right, our shields are up so they can't hit us from orbit. Use whatever power we've got left to broadcast a distress signal to the Outer Rim."

Leia, "use my personal code. If there are any allies to the Resistance, it's now or never."

DJ, "w-what about the G-G-Ghost Crew?"

Rose, "or the Mantis?"

Leia, "they're staying hidden, protecting Ahsoka, Cal and Ezra from being found."

Finn, "so now we gotta rely on the hope that someone's gonna save us?"

Poe, "Rose, what do you got?"

Rose, "rotting munitions, rusted artillery, some half-gutted skim speeders."

Poe, "well, let's just pray that big-ass door holds long enough for us to get help."

But as Finn gazed out at the First Order AT-AT's that were slowly making their way towards them, he saw a sight that made his blood run cold.

Finn, "shoot! They got a battering ram cannon!"

Poe, "what?!"

DJ, "how the H-H-Hell did they make something like t-that?!"

Finn, "miniaturized Death Star tech. It'll crack that door open like an egg."

Poe, "sonuva!"

Rose, "there has to be a back way out of here, right?"

Poe, "BB-8, what do you got?"

BB-8 beeps as Threepio translates.

C-3PO, "BB-8 has analyzed the mine's schematics. This is the only way in or out."

Finn, "come on. We have allies. People believe in Leia. They'll get our message, they'll come. But we have to buy time. We gotta take out that cannon."

….

We see several soldiers all lined up in a trench.

Soldier 1, "on me! On me!"

Soldier 2, "move! Move!"

A Resistance Trooper, "go back! Gather your weapons!"

Soldier 3, "get over here!"

Soldier 4, "hold your fire!"

A soldier named Salty wipes his finger on the ground and licked it and said, "Salt."

Soldier 5, "ground forces, incoming."

Poe, "copy that, on our way."

Rose, "engage your mono-ski. The green toggle."

We see Poe, Finn, Rose and several other soldiers piloting the mono-skis speeding towards the First Order forces.

Poe, "all right, listen up. I don't like these rust buckets and I don't like our odds, but... what the hell? Just keep it tight and don't get drawn in too close till they roll that cannon up front. All right, ground forces, lay down some fire!"

All of the Mono-Skis sped forward, laying down fire as the Fire Order tried to blast them.

….

In Kylo Ren's shuttle, he and Hux watched the fight press on.

Hux, "13 incoming light craft. Shall we hold until we clear them?"

Kylo, "no. The Resistance is in that mine. Push through."

TIE Fighters began blasting at the Rebels.

Poe, "fighters, break off! Come on! We gotta hold them till they pull up that cannon!"

Finn, "Rose, you've got 3 right behind you!"

Rose, "I can't lose 'em!"

But before anything could blast Rose, the fighters were blasted by a familiar ship!

The Millenium Falcon!

Finn, "whoo! Yeah!"

….

Inside of the Falcon, Chewie roars in victory, followed by Thumper thumping his foot and mimicking the wookie.

Owen is piloting with Chewie as he yells, "take that you kriffing nerf herders!"

Rey and Padme are using the gunners.

Rey, "whoo! I like this!"

Padme, "ain't that the truth!"

Owen and Rey had had a brief talk with Mara and Padme about the whole thing before with Kylo and learning about Rey's other grandfather.

But they had to push that aside for now in order to help their friends.

….

Kylo, "blow that piece of junk out of the sky!"

Hux, "all fighters!"

….

All of the fighters began chasing the Falcon.

Rey, "Chewie, Owen, pull off from the battle. Draw them away from the speeders."

The Falcon started swerving through a canyon, avoiding the TIE Fighters as the Porgs inside of the Corellian ship were scared witless!

….

Poe, "she drew 'em off! All of 'em!

Finn, "oh, they hate that ship!"

….

Chewie and Owen continued to evade the fighters as Rey and Padme shot at them.

Mara was in the engine room with R2 and Nine.

The droids and woman were making sure none of the systems acted up.

….

Rose, "there it is! That is a big gun."

Finn, "okay, it's heavily armored. Our only shot is right down the throat. The cannon's opening. This is our chance."

….

Kylo, "all firepower on those speeders.

Hux, "concentrate all fire on the speeders!"

Ren gave him a look that said, "da fuq?!"

….

A Resistance Controller yelled, "We're taking heavy losses!"

….

Poe, "they're picking us all off. We're not gonna make it."

Finn, "all right, making my final approach. Target in sight, guns are hot."

Poe, "no! Pull off!"

Finn, "what?"

Poe, "the cannon is charged! It's a suicide run! All craft, pull away!"

Finn, "no! I'm almost there!"

Poe, "retreat, Finn! That's an order!"

Rose, "Finn? It's too late! Don't do this!

Finn, "no! I won't let them win!"

Rose, "no! Finn, listen to Poe! We have to retreat!"

But before Finn can sacrifice himself, Rose uses her own vehicle to charge into Finn's, sending them both far away.

….

A male scout says, "the cannon is warming up now."

The male commander, "copy that. We see it."

The scout, "preparing to fire."

….

All of the soldiers begin running back to the base.

Poe, "move! Go, go! Quick!"

A soldier yelled, "let's go, let's go!"

Finn ran to Rose, who felt a bit dazed from what she did.

Finn, "Rose? Rose? Rose?! Why would you do that? Huh? I was almost there. Why would you stop me?"

Rose, "I saved you, dummy."

Finn, "I almost had it! I could've saved us all!"

They both saw the cannon fire, quickly beginning to melt into the base's door.

Rose, "see? I didn't want you to sacrifice yourself for nothing! That's how we're gonna win. By fighting when it matters."

Rose used her strength to kiss Finn, who was in shock for a moment before he kissed back.

That's when Rose passed out.

Finn quickly took off his jacket and wrapped it around a huge sheet of metal.

He got Rose on it and started making his way towards the base.

….

Kylo, "General Hux, advance. No quarter. No prisoners."

….

Connix, "our distress signal's been received at multiple points, but no response."

Poe, "the only ones who sent a message back were the Ghost and the Mantis. They're both too far to help us."

D'acy, "they've heard us, but no one's coming."

Leia, "we fought till the end. But the galaxy has lost all its hope. The spark is out."

That's when everyone saw him approach Leia.

She looked up, and lost her breath at the sight.

Luke!

Luke SkyWalker was here!

Leia, "Luke…. I know what you're gonna say. I changed my hair.

Luke, "it's nice that way. Leia, I'm sorry."

Leia hugged her brother.

She felt the warmth he emitted.

He was really there!

Leia, "I know. I know you are. I'm just glad you're here at the end."

As they seperated, Luke said, "I came to face him, Leia. And I can't save him."

Leia, "I held out hope for so long, but I know my son is gone."

Luke, "no one's ever really gone."

Luke handed Leia something.

The golden dice that Han once owned.

He approached Threepio.

C-3PO, "Master Luke."

Luke smiled at the droid, "hey Threepio."

Luke gave the droid a hug, surprising him, but the droid actually hugged back.

The two separated, and Luke made his way past everyone.

He made his way outside, shocking the entire First Order, who all saw the old Jedi standing there.

….

Kylo, "stop! I want every gun we have to fire on that man. Do it!"

Every single AT-AT shot their blasts at Luke, creating a cloud of dust that surrounded the Jedi.

Kylo, "more! More!"

The blasts continued.

Hux, "that's enough. That's enough!"

The blasts ended, as the cloud of dust slowly dissipated.

Hux, "do you think you got him? Now, if we're ready to get moving, we can finish this."

But both men were shocked when they saw Luke still standing.

All of the lasers blasted at him were in midair.

Luke dusted his shoulder off like the attack barely fazed him.

And that's when he made his next move.

Luke thrust his hand forward, and the bolts hit almost every single AT-AT, sending them all to the ground, exploding!

Ren was fuming at the sight.

The pilot, "Sir?"

Kylo, "bring me down to him. Keep the door covered and don't advance until I say."

Hux, "Supreme Leader, don't get distracted, our goal..."

Ren used the force to send Hux into the wall.

The pilot, "right away, sir."

….

Finn, "Med pack! I need a med pack!"

Some medics helped Finn with Rose.

Poe, "She's hurt pretty bad. It's Kylo Ren. Luke's facing him alone."

Finn, "well, we should help him. Let's go."

Poe, "no, wait. Wait."

….

Kylo Ren and Luke were staring one another down.

Kylo, "did you come back to say you forgive me? To save my soul?"

That's when Luke pulled out a certain weapon.

His old green lightsaber.

He ignites it as he says, "no."

….

Poe, "he's doing this for a reason. He's stalling so we can escape."

Finn, "escape? He's one man against the First Order. We have to help him, we have to fight."

Poe, "no, no. We are the spark that'll light the fire that will burn the First Order down. Skywalker's doing this so we can survive. There's gotta be a way out of this mine. Hell, how did he get in here?"

C-3PO, "sir, it is possible that a natural unmapped opening exists. But this facility is such a maze of endless tunnels that the odds of finding an exit are 15,428..."

Poe, "Shh. Shush. Hush. Shush up. Shut up!"

C-3PO, "to one.

Poe, "listen."

C-3PO, "my audio sensors no longer detect the..."

Poe, "exactly."

Finn, "where'd the crystal critters go?"

DJ, "haven't a c-c-clue."

They all turned to see one if the fox creatures run down a tunnel.

Poe, "follow me."

Everyone turned to Leia.

Leia, "what are you looking at me for? Follow him."

….

Luke and Ren begin a fierce lightsaber duel.

The old man showed great skill for someone of his age.

….

Rey, "if the beacon's right beneath us, they've gotta be somewhere. Keep scanning for life forms."

Owen, "I know they're down there somewhere."

….

Poe, "this way."

The group all ran down the tunnel as fast as they could.

….

Rey, "I see them! Chewie, there!"

The Falcon landed, and as they did, they saw the starfighter from the island.

Padme, "dad…."

Owen, "he came to help!"

...

The fight between Luke and Kylo grows furious.

While the younger man has speed, his former master has skill!

The blades clash almost every second, the sound of their battle like lightning!

….

Poe, "no. No, no, no. No!"

The crystal creature squeezed through the rocks.

….

The three young force users all jumped down to where the tunnel was blocked.

Rey, Padme and Owen grinned at one another before saying, "lifting rocks."

….

Luke, "I failed you, Ben. I'm sorry."

Kylo, "I'm sure you are! The Resistance is dead. The war is over. And when I kill you, I will find Rey, Owen, Padme, Ahsoka, Cal, Ezra, and any other force user who doesn't bow to my master and I. I will have killed the last of the Jedi."

Luke, "amazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong. The Rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi."

….

At the exact moment they spoke to one another, Rey, Owen and Padme used their power to lift all of the rocks from the tunnel, shocking the Resistance members who saw it happen.

Leia is shocked to see her niece with the group, since she didn't know of her being alive.

Rey and Owen smiled as they saw Finn, who smiled back at them.

….

Kylo, "I'll destroy her, and you, and all of it."

Luke, "no. Strike me down in anger and I'll always be with you. Just like your father."

Kylo roared in utter rage as he swung at Luke.

But as he did, the Jedi seemed to disappear.

His lightsaber and cloak falling to the ground.

Kylo looked around in anger, until he saw something that angered him, "No."

Luke stood there, glowing blue, dressed in his white and brown robes.

Both hands looked organic.

Luke, "see you around, kid."

The spirit of Luke disappeared.

Kylo, "no!"

….

Back on the island, we see Luke's ghost standing there, watching the sunset.

Slowly, many other Jedi who had passed on surrounded him.

Yoda.

Obi Wan Kenobi.

Anakin Skywalker.

And more.

Qui Gin Jinn.

Aayla Secura.

Shaak Ti.

Kit Fisto.

Ki Adi Mundi.

Plo Koon.

Mace Windu.

Luminara Unduli.

Eeth Koth.

Ivan Piell.

Caleb Dune.

And two Jedi long forgotten.

Revan, in his mask and white cloak, and Bastilla, his true love.

Many Jedi, long dead, greeting the one who had helped keep their legend alive.

….

Rey, Owen and Padme went to their knees as Leia urged them inside of the ship.

Leia can feel it too, but she knows that they need to go.

DJ volunteers to take the starfighter alongside the Falcon.

He didn't wanna waste such a ship.

….

Kylo Ren enters the base, holding both his lightsaber, and his Uncle's.

Taking it as a trophy?

A momento?

Who knows.

At the same time, Rey enters the Falcon.

Before it closes, Rey, Owen, Padme and Kylo connect one last time….

….

We see all of the Resistance in the Falcon, relieved that they survived all of that.

Rey even gets to meet Poe, and she shares a hug with Finn as he sits by Rose as she sleeps.

Owen gave a hug to Finn as well.

Leia gave Chewie and Padme a big hug.

Threepio, R2, Nine and BB-8 were all chatting together.

DJ kept in contact with the Falcon as the ships flew on.

Rey, Owen and Padme sat by Leia and Mara.

Rey, "Luke is gone. I felt it. But it wasn't sadness or pain. It was peace and purpose."

Padme, "he finally passed on with the other Jedi who have."

Owen, "I'm happy for dad. He's one with the Force."

Leia, "I felt it, too."

Rey, "how do we build a Rebellion from this?"

Leia puts her hand on Rey's and smiles, "we have everything we need."

And as Rey and Owen gazed at everyone around them, they felt reassured about what the future held.

….

A few hours later, most of the people on the ship were asleep.

Finn was slowly starting to doze off near Rose.

But just as he was about to clonk out, he felt a hand on his face.

His eyes opened up wide as he saw Rose staring at him with a loving smile.

Rose, "hey there dummy."

Finn smiled as he hugged Rose.

As he held her, Finn swore he wouldn't abandon her or the Resistance ever again.

He was ready to let go of his past, and look to the future.

….

Meanwhile, Rey and Owen sat in the cockpit together.

They needed to talk about things.

Owen, "are you okay?"

Rey, "I'm not sure. I've found out I'm related to the man who trained Anakin SkyWalker, but also the man who turned him into Darth Vader."

Owen, "so? I come from the same bloodline as Anakin Skywalker. The same goes for Padme."

Rey, "and even after knowing that, I still don't know why my parents left me on Jakku. Did they hate me? Was Ben right? Or did they have a good reason?"

Owen held her face as he said, "Rey, look at me. It doesn't matter who you come from. You could have been the daughter of no-one, and you'd still accomplish great things. Even if Luke Skywalker wasn't my father, I still would've grown up into the man I am today. You aren't alone Rey. I'll always be there for you."

Rey started to tear up as she and Owen shared a loving kiss.

They didn't know what the future held, but as long as they were together, they would face it all head on….

mmat: well, as you saw, Luke actually showed up to fight his nephew, and upon being struck down, joins with the other Jedi spirits.

Zero: Owen will get an outfit similar to Luke's, and as you can see, Luke uses his green saber against Kylo, who then keeps it with him as a trophy of sorts, and eventually uses it when helping fight Palpatine.

Amanny: I'm glad you liked the changes. I always felt like if they had revealed Rey being a Palpatine in Last Jedi, the reveal would've worked better. So that's why I did the reveal here, after Rey learns of her connection to Kenobi, she learns of her connection to Palpatine as well.

….

Like I said before, I'm keeping Phasma alive. Mainly so I can give her and Poe an awesome final battle in Rise of SkyWalker.

And we see Palpatine here now, since I've been building up the return the whole story.

Also, Luke actually showed up to fight, but let Kylo strike him down.

And instead of him fading away on the island, we see his spirit gazing at the twin suns with the spirits of Jedi ling past beside him.

Oh, and since the ending with the kid was pointless, and wasn't revisited, I'm just gonna ignore it.
