Spider-Man: Look out! It's your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man! SHIELD has moved in to quarantine the city, and like everyone else, kept blaming me for this symbiote outbreak. Black Widow, Winter and Omega were on my tail while I was chasing Electro, who was searching for his sister. But his sister was infected with a symbiote and transferred it to him, turning him into a "Super Symbiote". This is getting out of hand, and I'm running desperate to stop this invasion!

Issue 13: Jail Break

Manhattan, New York City

'SHIELD had come to the rescue. Thrown the city into a panic. Everybody was on my tail! And no one knew that the real problems were Venom and Salem! Well, no one but me and my friends. Some of them at least.' Spidey narrated.

Shadow stands on the edge of a rooftop skyscraper with his arms crossed, stoically overlooking the nightly city as it's being consumed by darkness. Symbiotes are everywhere, running rampant and scaring civilians. The police, SHIELD, Kingpin's forces, and even the local gang are at war against these aliens. This invasion reminds Shadow a piece of his mysterious past. Of the time Mobius was invaded by a similar alien race known as the Black Arms.

Suddenly, the black hedgehog hears a groan, which was coming from Symbiote Spider-Man as he slowly awakes on the same rooftop. "Did you enjoy your nap?" Shadow asked with a stoic tone, "Take off your Black Suit."

Spidey switches to his Red Suit as he stands on his feet, "Ughh…my head…What happened?"

"Electro became infected with a symbiote. Knocked you unconscious. I came to your rescue." Shadow replied, turning around to face the webslinger, "SHIELD is on the lookout for you. Believing you responsible for this alien invasion. They have orders to capture you, dead or alive."

"Did you save me just to arrest me?" Spidey quips dryly.

"I saved you because I know ALL TOO WELL what you're going through. You're confused. Don't know who to trust. You're all alone, but still determined to keep fighting for the truth." Shadow said, sympathizing with the young hero.

Spidey shrugs in slight surprise of Shadow's sympathy, "Wow. Surprised you know me so well."

BGM-Spider-Man: Web of Shadows OST-Act 2 City 4

"There you are." said Cinder Fall, leaping onto the rooftop and greeting the duo with a sly smile, "I saw Vulture escape from police custody. You've really done it now. Both the police AND SHIELD are after you. Blaming you for this symbiote invasion. They're not wrong."

"At least I wasn't stupid enough to bring Venom to have a doctor's appointment with an evil witch from another dimension." Spidey retorted. "Where have you been?"

"Destroying all the hives I helped Venom create. But the damage has been done. The city is becoming overrun with symbiotes." Cinder replied.

"Any update on Venom or Salem's location?" Shadow asked the former Maiden.

"Nothing." Cinder answered, having no idea where her former associates are hiding.

"Then until we can find them, we should discuss evacuation. Clear the streets of civilians, leaving us more room to fight the symbiotes." Shadow replied.

Just then, Spidey's hands free cell rings. He answers it through his suit, and the caller happens to be Mary Jane, 'Peter, where are you?'

Peter touches his ear, "MJ! Are you with Yang?"

'I'm fine, but Peter, they're closing the whole city! The cops just told us.' MJ replied.

"What do you mean 'closing'?" Spidey questioned.

'All the bridges, tunnels. No one leaves, no one gets in. What is happening, Peter?' MJ asked.

"SHIELD thinks it's a disease. It's Venom. The thing, it's reproducing." Peter replied.

MJ says, 'Is it…? Peter, are you-?'

"I'm fine…I'm the same. B-But I don't know how to stop this." Spidey responded.

'Peter. You know more about this than anyone. If anyone can do this, it's you.' MJ said, encouraging him to not give up.

"Mary Jane, I'm so sorry. About everything." Peter apologized somberly, for his behavior and his unintended role starting this symbiote invasion.

'Do what you have to do. I believe in you, Peter.' MJ said.

"I'm gonna check out one of these bridge closures." Spidey replied.

'I'm okay. Just come back to me.' MJ responded.

"I always do." Peter said, hanging up the call and looking at Shadow and Cinder.

Cinder crosses her arms, "Well, sounds like evacuation is gonna be a problem."

"We need to investigate the commotion. Want me to take you to the Manhattan Bridge, milady? I can be your bodyguard, and my web-swinging carriage is free of charge." Spidey jokingly offers his hand to escort Cinder to the bridge.

Cinder slaps his hand away in annoyance and arrogance, "I don't NEED your protection. I can get there on my own." She jumps quickly from roof to roof towards the bridge.

"How rude. I'm here being Prince Charming, while she's acting as cold as Lady Tremaine." Spidey quips, swinging off the rooftop while Shadow teleports away using Chaos Control.

Manhattan Bridge

BGM-Spider-Man: Web of Shadows OST-SHIELD Quarantine Zone

As expected, the entrance to the bridge has been closed by the military to prevent anyone from escaping or entering Manhattan. SHIELD agents are hanging out at the closed entrance, talking to each other. Suddenly, they hear the screeching brakes of someone's car parking near the entrance. It's Kingpin, walking out of his car with two Tech Heavies as his personal bodyguards.

"Who's in charge here?! As a citizen of New York, I DEMAND you open this bridge!" Kingpin demands while approaching the military.

"I have orders, sir. Manhattan is under quarantine." A SHIELD agent said.

Just then, Spidey lands atop of Fisk's car as Shadow and Cinder arrive to accompany him. Spidey confronts the crimeboss with a joke, "See, Kingy, the bridges ain't ready to handle your weight, and-."

"I know EXACTLY what's going on here. Tell me: How is your little 'alien companion'?" Kingpin mocks the webslinger of his Black Suit, glancing at him before looking at the agents, "I plan to retire to my country estate. Step aside."

"Is the Kingpin actually SCARED?" Cinder smiles deviously, striking a nerve at the crimelord even though he doesn't show it.

Kingpin pauses, "…Where are all the good guys? Where's Richards? Stark?" He turns to look at the heroic trio, "Some so-called genius that will…get rid of these things. Too bad all the 'mad scientists' are in lockdown at Ryker's." He looks away from them, while Shadow and Cinder narrows their gaze at him as they know he is up to something. "Maybe I was leaving prematurely. Let's go! Everybody, we're going back!"

"Come to think of it, where are Richards and Stark?" Shadow asks the webslinger.

"Ya think they'd be back from some world-saving mission by now. Let's head to a roof so I can make some calls." Spidey replied.

Spider-Man swings to the nearest and safest rooftop skyscraper. As he takes out his cell phone, Shadow teleports himself and Cinder to his location. Shadow leans his back onto a ventilation shaft while Cinder stands with her arms crossed, as both of them stare at Spider-Man.

"I'll try Richards first." Spidey presses a button on his phone to speed dial for Reed Richards.

'You've reached the headquarters of the Fantastic Four.' The female operator said.

"Reed Richards, please." Spidey requested politely.

The operator says, 'For analytic data systems, press one. For the arms reproduction project, press two…'

Spidey mumbles, "Argh, great. What about four? As in Fantastic?" He retorts in annoyance, pressing the "four" key on his phone.

'For Mister Fantastic, press one.' The operator replied.

"Yes!" Spidey smiled, complying with the instructions.

The operator says, 'This is the office of Doctor Richards. He's away on urgent business in another star system. Please leave a message. Mailbox full.'

The group is visibly annoyed that Richards isn't available to help them. Shadow scoffs while closing his eyes. Cinder lightly shrugs while shaking her head. And Spidey groans with a deadpan tone, "Ugh, fine. Lemme try Stark."

He calls Stark Industries, with the operator saying, 'You have reached Stark Industries…'

"Ugh. Zero. Operator." Peter impatiently presses the zero button.

'Due to a public health emergency, Stark Industries is closed.' The operator proclaimed.

"Who am I kidding? If he could be here, he'd would be. Maybe Hank McCoy." Spidey speed dials another super-scientist to help him.

The operator says, 'Your call cannot be completed as dialed. All circuits are busy.'

"Henry Pym? Ah, forget it." Spidey objects to that idea before immediately coming up with a new one. But first, he calls Mary Jane and places his phone next to his ear, "MJ, it's me. How're you doing?"

MJ replied, 'I'm okay. I'm helping Yang and Luke run a FEAST shelter-.'

"Good. That's good." Spidey interrupts her, "Hey, I have a crazy idea that might save us. I'm going to Ryker's prison to get a mad scientist to make a bomb that'll destroy all the sym-things without hurting any of the people. I know the Tinkerer is in there."

Shadow and Cinder exchange looks of shock upon hearing his suggestion to break into prison, as MJ replies with a simple, 'Uh huh.'

Spidey continues, "'Course, I'm gonna have to break him out of prison because SHIELD and the police are after me, but-."

'Uh huh…'

"Mary Jane…I'll be breaking the law." Spidey said worriedly.

'Okay, okay. Look. You have to do what you think is right.' MJ replied, reluctantly allowing him to go ahead with his crazy idea.

"Okay. Thanks. Gotta go." Spidey said, hanging up the call.

BGM-Sonic Adventure 2 OST-Strategy

Shadow takes a step towards the webslinger, "You're doing what Kingpin wants you to do."

"Guess so, but I have no other option." Spidey replied.

Cinder smiles while taking a step forward, "This is QUITE surprising. I have never heard of a hero that is SO DESPERATE to save the world that they are willing to break the law and become a criminal for the rest of their lives. I'm honestly impressed."

"Glad I made you happy." Spidey said sarcastically with a dry tone.

"Yes. And I am MORE than happy to tag along, so you won't mess this up. I AM the woman who infiltrated Beacon Academy under everyone's noses after all." Cinder smiled deviously, willing to join him on this dangerous mission.

"I'll join too. I have experience infiltrating prison islands. I can use Chaos Control to warp ourselves there." Shadow said, volunteering to join them.

"I was thinking of calling Moon Knight or Vulture for a ride. But, wouldn't you get in trouble with SHIELD?" Spidey asked, worried about the special agent.

"They're not my superiors. And desperate times calls for desperate measures." Shadow retorted.

"You're right about that. Okay. Let's go do something drastic." Spidey declared, as the trio are ready to break into Ryker's Island.

Ryker's Island

'Ryker's Island. A maximum security prison. Which makes it an ironic place to commit my first crime. I didn't know how I was gonna find Tinkerer. I KNEW he was in the main cell block. I also knew I was gonna need a battering ram to get through all those security doors.' Spidey narrated.

With Chaos Control, Spider-Man, Shadow, and Cinder were teleported to a helipad outside the prison walls. Spidey switches to his Black Suit to blend in with the night, making it easier for stealth. Cinder uses the ISO-8 in her clothing to instantly transform her red dress into a black stealth outfit with a black glass mask, similar to what she wore when she infiltrated the CCT Tower at Beacon.

The trio notices a searchlight and hides from it. "Why do the three of us look so good in black?" Symbiote Spidey whispered.

"Don't you know the meaning of a stealth mission? Requires you to shut up." Cinder retorts quietly with a scowl at the webslinging jokester.

"What's the plan to break out Tinkerer?" Shadow asked.

"I'm making it up right now." Spidey quipped. "I know he's in the main cell block. We're gonna need to find a way to break through the prison walls."

"Can't we just teleport inside and get this over with?" Cinder questioned.

"Easier said than done. Too many guards, among other high-tech security. Don't have time to play with 'em. We need a distraction." Spidey answered. "I think I know someone that's imprisoned in a courtyard cell behind us."

"Who?" Cinder asked.

"Rhino." Spidey replied. "Big guy with a big horn. Very strong. Very stupid. Should be easy to convince him to help us once we break him out."

BGM-Spider-Man: Web of Shadows OST-Kingpin Henchmen (Black Suit)

"Understood. I'll free Rhino. You two distract the guards." Shadow ordered his partners.

As Shadow teleports away, Cinder reluctantly latches onto Spidey's back as he climbs up the wall of the prison. Atop of the wall, they carefully watch two guards walking past each other towards the opposite direction on an upper walkway. They quietly jump onto the walkway, sharing a nod at each other. As Spidey web-yanks a guard towards him and punches his lights out before webbing him to a wall, Cinder slide-kicks the other guard and knocks him unconscious with her swords.

Spidey and Cinder then leap into a courtyard, bombarding the area with web balls and fire arrows respectively. "What the-?!" A guard noticed them. This act gains the attention of all the prison guards, as some of them were knocked down by their sudden assault.

"What are they doing?! Stop them!" A guard shouted, as his fellow guards retaliate against the duo.

While Spidey and Cinder distract the guards, Shadow hides in the shadows while spotting a guard running out of a control room on the upper left corner of the courtyard. "We have an alert! Unauthorized entry!" The guard said, hurrying to join the fight.

Shadow warps into the control room undetected, quickly interacting with it, "I'm at the control room. Unlocking Rhino's cell now." He contacts his allies, pressing a button that releases Rhino.

Meanwhile, four guards were standing together when they heard a large gate opening behind them. Suddenly, the rampaging Rhino charges headfirst out of his cell towards the guards, causing one of them to shout, "OH MY GOOOOD-!" before they were scattered across the yard.

'System failure! System failure!' The security system shouted through the loudspeakers.

"Rhino!" Spidey jumps in front of his old foe, "It's great to see you again, buddy. Need your help."

"My help? You put me here!" Rhino retorted, scowling.

"And I'm going to help you break out! Don't ask me why! Help me free Tinkerer, and I'll help you escape!" Spidey responded.

The dumb Rhino scoffs, "Fine. You better not be lying to me. Hop on my back, little man, and hold on tight."

Spidey hops onto Rhino's back, riding him as Rhino charges through everything in his path like towers and guards. While Cinder knocks down some guards on her own, she hears Rhino's rampage closing in towards her position. "Hop on, princess!" Spidey shouts at her. Cinder leaps onto Rhino, clinging behind Spidey, "Sorry it's not a pumpkin!"

"Whatever! Just get us to Tinkerer!" Cinder retorts, watching their backs as she shoots arrows at the guards shooting them. "Anything blocking us, Shadow?" She asks, while Rhino busts through stone walls.

On another upper walkway, Shadow warps next to three guards. He quickly knocks out one with a kick, then warps to slam the next guy, then warps again to deliver a roundhouse kick to knock out the third guard. He warps in front of another control room and walks into it, "There appears to be a gate blocking you to the recreation yard. Opening it right now."

Shadow opens the recreation yard gates, just as Rhino approaches it. Meanwhile, a guard just finished arming mines that are scattered across the recreation yard. "Containment mines armed!" He informs his fellow guards.

"I don't like the look of those things!" Rhino spotted the mines.

"Just rampage around them, buddy!" Spidey advises him.

'Full-scale entry in progress! Emergency lockdown!' shouted a guard through the PA system.

"Spider-Man, they just closed access to the detention center!" Shadow says, knocking down guards with Homing Attacks.

"Not good! We'll need to destroy the generators to regain access! Rhino, I'll guide you to 'em! Cinder, watch our backs!" Spidey replied.

Cinder rapidly assault each guard shooting at them with arrows at superhuman speed, pinning them down and hampering their pursuit of them. Spidey speeds up Rhino, guiding him to dodge the mines and smash through the generators. Once all of them were destroyed, access to the detention center was reopen.

"Shadow, we're going in!" Spidey informs him. Shadow was quick to catch up with his allies, as Rhino easily charges into the detention center. "YEEEEEHAAAAAW!" Spidey hollers, while Rhino rams down a hallway through the gates and walls until they reach a lift.

"We're in. We can use this lift to escape once we free Tinkerer." Cinder says, as she and Spidey hop off of Rhino.

"I'm blowing this joint!" Rhino proclaimed.

"You sure 'bout that, big guy?" Symbiote Spidey quips while standing in front of the control panel for the lift.

"Uhhh…" Rhino sits in confusion on the lift.

"There's no button in there, Rhino. It's over HERE!" Spidey points to the control panel. "That's why it's called 'maximum security'." He quipped.

"Give me a hand, you shrimp!" Rhino said, relying on Spider-Man to honor their deal and help him escape.

Spidey looks at his finger, deciding whether or not he should allow Rhino to escape. 'Should I allow Rhino to escape? On one hand, it would totally suck for me if his dumb horn gets infected with a symbiote.' Peter thought.

'But on the other hand, he would be an excellent weapon to destroy them. We're at war with Venom and Salem now. We need more muscle. Yang, Thing and Luke are strong, but not strong enough. Rhino once went toe-to-toe with Hulk. We could use that strength.' His symbiote said, convincing his host to free Rhino.

"Alright, but I'm gonna need your help later." Symbiote Spidey said to the armored supervillain.

"What for?" Rhino asked.

"I might need some muscle if I get into serious trouble. If you see any superpowered types flying around out there, just tell them I let you go." Spidey said darkly, pressing the button that activates the lift.

Rhino waves goodbye to his new ally as he's ascending, "I had a great time, bug boy!"

"Not like you to free Rhino like that. We don't need that idiot. Could've just tricked him back to his cell." Shadow said, noting Peter's dark behavior.

"We're about to free Tinkerer, aren't we? We're going to need brains AND brawn to win this war. Besides, Rhino's dumb enough to get himself recaptured anyways." Cinder comments, agreeing with Peter's decision to free Rhino.

"Time to get the Tinkerer, and get outta here ourselves." Spidey said, leading his team to the Tinkerer.

Spidey spots a control panel and touches it, deactivating and opening the cell of an old man with high scientific intelligence. "Hey, Tinkerer! You in there?" Spidey calls him out, as the heroes enter his cell, "We're, uh, breaking you out."

"Really?" A curiously surprised Tinkerer responded, being escorted out of his cell.

"Hope you know what you're doing, Spider-Man." Shadow says as they stand on the lift.

"I'll bring him back once we're done saving the world. I promise." Spidey quips, webbing the controls to activate the lift.

BGM-Spider-Man: Web of Shadow OST- S.H.I.E.L.D. Quarantine Zone

Soon, the lift reaches the rooftop of the prison. "We made it." Tinkerer said.

Cinder pushes the old man forward, "Start moving. Shadow, get ready to teleport us outta here."

"HALT!" A SHIELD Agent shouted, forcing the heroes and Tinkerer to stop as they are approached by a SHIELD squadron led by Black Widow, Winter Schnee, and Moon Knight.

"You've committed about 65 felonies, Spider-Man!" Black Widow accused him.

"Agent Shadow, why are you assisting these criminals?!" Winter asks him.

Suddenly, Vulture lands next to everyone, "I'll be taking the Tinkerer."

"Step back, Vulture!" Moon Knight gestured to the winged villain.

"Well done, Spider-Man." said Kingpin, mockingly congratulating him while approaching the increasing assembly with his Tech Warriors.

"Uh, hi everybody." Symbiote Spidey greets everyone sheepishly.

"This was HIS idea." Tinkerer jokingly points at Peter.

Winter speaks, "Cinder. Vulture. Mr. Fisk. Hell, everyone! You are being taken into custody for aiding and embedding-!"

"Ms. Schnee, surely this crisis calls for extraordinary measures." Kingpin argues calmly.

"I'm trying to save this city!" Spidey retorted.

"We are ALL trying to save this city" Kingpin corrected.

"I HAVE THE SITUATION UNDER CONTROL!" Widow shouted angrily.

"ELECTRO WAS UNDER CONTROL!" Spidey argued.

"Ms. Romanoff, you can follow the book and be the scapegoat, or you could TRULY take control." Kingpin conversed.

"I am not talking to you, Fisk!" Widow glared.

"Are your superiors giving you the means to succeed, or ensuring your FAILURE?!" Kingpin argued.

Black Widow pauses, pondering the crimelord's words for a moment. She looks at Winter and the agents, "…Take Spider-Man and his group to the command station at Stark Industries. Let's move! Clear this area!" She ordered, reluctantly taking truth of Fisk's words.

"Well done, commander." Fisk smiled, mockingly clapping at her wise decision.

"Get out of here, Fisk." Widow retorts with a stern face before following her group.

Inside a SHIELD Hovercraft…

'The Widow had agreed to give the Tinkerer a chance to come up with a way to stop the symbiotes. Little did we know that her superiors did not share the same sense of optimism.' Spidey narrated.

From inside the hovercraft, Spidey, Shadow, Cinder, and Tinkerer notice the Tricarrier hovering above Brooklyn Bridge. "It would seem the cavalry has arrived." Tinkerer said.

"What are they doing?!" Spidey asked.

"What idiots in authority always do." Tinkerer replied stoically.

Suddenly, the Tricarrier launches a missile barrage that blows up a huge portion of the bridge, much to the shock of Spidey, Cinder, and Shadow. "WHAT ARE THEY DOING?! THIS IS NUTS!" Spidey reacted.

"Perhaps. Sealing the city might stop it from spreading." Tinkerer commented.

"It's up to us now." Spidey proclaimed somberly, as it is left to the heroes trapped within Manhattan to stop the symbiote invasion before it could spread across the world, or to other dimensions.

KFX Here: The stage has been set. Manhattan has been sealed off from the outside world. Symbiotes have consumed the city. It's up to Spider-Man and his Resistance forces to fight back against the invaders and take back the city. It will NOT be easy.
