Italics - flashback

"Seriously, Marinette, decide!'" Marinette sighed, letting her head fall back as she listened to Alya, her cheeks bright red as all she could think about was the awkward moment that happened minutes ago.

"Um, hello? What's going on here?"

Both Marinette and Cat parted immediately, looking to their left, horrified. With her arms crossed over her chest, right foot tapping on the floor, Alya was watching the superhero and her best friend. About the kiss. In her kitchen.

"May I know why Cat Noir is in my kitchen? About to make out with my best friend?" It clearly bothered Alya.

The teens blushed. Marinette started playing with her fingers while Cat rubbed the back of his head, uncomfortable. "I, um, I must go...I am about to transform back!" Cat made up a lame excuse.

Alya raised one eyebrow, "Your ring isn't flashing." She stated. Cat gulped, making his way to the window, backwards.

"Oh, really? I...oh, no, is that an akuma?! I cannot risk it, I have to check! See you another time, ladies!" Cat jumped out the window before Alya could tell him anything.

Marinette groaned. Scared cat. He just left her all alone with Alya. She had to explain everything to Alya. And this was way worse than an akuma attack.

"I don't have to decide on anything, Alya. I told you, everything was a mistake."

"Really? Since when did you end up kissing someone by mistake?"

"We didn't kiss." Marinette murmured.

"Because I stepped in! Thank God I walked on you before you and him decided making out was not enough to satisfy your needs!" Alya rolled her eyes.

Marinette's eyes went wide, her cheeks turning red. "Alya!" The young girl screamed, grabbing a cushion and throwing it into Alya. The auburn-haired girl grabbed it, with no smile on her face.

"I mean it, Marinette. You can't keep it like this. Decide if you want to confess to Adrien, be with Luka or be with Cat Noir!"

"I...I won't confess. I told you Alya, I am over him."

"Are you?!" Alya frowned. "Because you were really affected by his outburst the whole day."

"He accused me of lying to him." Marinette sighed.

"You cannot say you've been honest with him all the time. After all, you've been hiding your feelings for him for how long?" Alya shrugged. Of course, she knew why Adrien acted this way today. While she thought he overreacted a bit, she also saw his point and kind of agreed with it. If only Marinette had more confidence, she and Adrien would've been dating already.

Marinette shook her head. "There's nothing between us. Neither between me and Cat Noir. Tonight was...a mistake, really. I just... I don't know why I wanted to kiss him. He leaned in first and the way he held me just calmed me and made me want to kiss him. I swear, I feel nothing for Cat Noir." She looked at Alya, her blue eyes tired.

The girl sighed, taking off her glasses to rub her eyes. "Okay, let's drop it. This incident with Cat stays between us." Marinette nodded, grateful. "Yet, I mean it. Think good about who you want to be with." Alya laid on the couch, closing her eyes. Marinette curled into the armchair, closing her eyes, trying to get some sleep.

Adrien's fingers ran over the keyboards of the piano, his eyes slightly rolling as he practised the same piece over and over. He could play it with his eyes closed at this point. Plagg was, as usual, enjoying some cheese as he flipped through a magazine.

The noise made by Adrien's door being opened made Plagg hide immediately. Adrien kept his eyes on the keyboard. "Yes, father?" He knew it was him. Nathalie knocked before entering. And his bodyguard, too.

"Adrien, get ready. We'll have guests." Adrien frowned, looking up at his father. "Marinette is coming to take some measurements for the costume she's going to make for you." Adrien's eyes widened a bit.

Marinette was coming. It was great! He could finally apologize for being an asshole to her the day before... maybe even confess to her. He blushed at the thought, a smile on his face. Gabriel noticed and frowned a bit.

"I'm disappointed in you, son." He started watching his son's eyes widen. "You broke up with an exceptional girl like Kagami. For what?"

"I-father..." Adrien started, but could not finish as his father cut him off.

"She was perfect for you! Educated, gracious and respectful." Gabriel frowned. Adrien looked down.

"I know, father. But I didn't love her."

"Then? Who is it?" Before Adrien could answer, Gabriel raised one eyebrow. "Let me guess. Miss Dupain-Cheng?"

Adrien nodded, still looking down. He heard his father sigh.

"She is talented and seems like a good girl. She definitely likes you." Adrien looked up at his father, hopeful. However, everything crashed down as the cold designer kept talking. "But she is not worthy of you."

"What...? Father, how can you say this?" Adrien's lips parted in shock. "She is more than worthy of me. If anything, I am not worthy of her!"

Gabriel rolled his eyes. "Please. A baker's girl. Clumsy. Has no inclination to noble sports or anything. How can she be worthy of you?"

"Isn't the most important thing that Marinette makes me happy?!" Adrien hissed. "Kagami didn't make me happy. I felt uncomfortable and stuck with her. With Marinette...it's not like this. She makes me happy. She makes me smile every time I am down. Not only that, but she believes in me like nobody else." He stopped, took a deep breath, then said something he knew was risky. "Didn't you feel the same around mom, father?"

Gabriel clenched his fist at the mention of his wife. Listening to the way his son talked about Marinette, he saw himself in Adrien when he fell for Emilie. His dear Emilie. Everything he was doing was for her...to bring her back to Adrien...to him.

"But does she feel this too, son?" Gabriel calmed down, raising one eyebrow. "Do you think she talks the same about you now? Are you so sure she is completely positive you're the one for her?"

On those questions, Adrien started thinking. She kissed Luka... and she was about to kiss Cat Noir last night. Adrien felt his heart shank. Yes, Cat Noir was him...but Marinette didn't know. She was willing to kiss him with no remorse.

Maybe his father was right. Maybe now the feelings were one-sided.

"She'll be here in 20 minutes." Gabriel simply said, turning around and walking out of Adrien's room. Adrien gulped, his fist slamming into the piano's keyboards.

"Hello Mr. Agreste." Marinette said politely as she walked inside the mansion. The designer nodded.

"Welcome back. Nathalie will show you the room where Adrien is. Take your time, I want the suit to fit him perfectly." Gabriel told Marinette, looking at her with no emotion. The girl nodded, then smiled at his assistant. He watched them walk out, then smiled. "See you again very soon, Ms. Dupain-Cheng."

Nathalie opened the door for Marinette, letting her enter. She closed it behind the teen. It was like a creation room, with sewing machines, some mannequins and so on. In the middle of the room, on a platform, sat Adrien. His back was facing her. She blushed a bit. He was dressed pretty plain, with some jeans and a white T-shirt. But the thought of having to touch him pretty much all over his body made her blush madly.

"Hi Adrien." Marinette said, walking around to face him. She stretched her head up in a pretty uncomfortable way to look at his face. This platform only made the height difference bigger. He was already extremely tall - well, almost everyone was taller than Marinette. But Adrien really towered over most people. After all, both of his parents were pretty tall.

"Hi." He murmured, avoiding her eyes. She sighed. She put her bag down and got on her knees, looking for everything she needed in order to take the right measurements. Her hands were shaking a bit.

"Adrien, are you still mad?" She whispered, looking up at him. "I am so sorry-"

"No, Marinette. I am not in the mood for your excuses." Marinette frowned a bit.

"Excuses? What? I wanted to apologize, even that you're the one who's been an asshole to me yesterday!" She protested. Adrien looked down at her, frowning.

"Maybe I had my reasons to be."

"Well, maybe letting me know would be nice. So at least I know what I've done so wrong." She rolled her eyes a bit.

Adrien sighed, "You know what? Drop it. No need to pretend anymore you care about me." He stopped, then added without thinking. "I know I won't anymore."

Those words felt like a knife pushed in Marinette's chest. "What?" She whispered, her blue eyes looking up at him, hurt. Did he pretend to care about her after all this time? Was he nice to her just out of pity? Her eyes filled with tears, and she looked up at him. "You're the worst, Adrien." Marinette mumbled, grabbing her bag.

She knew it was not professional, that she was about to ruin the chance of her life. But she couldn't do it. Not with Adrien saying this to her. Hurting her like this.

The girl pushed the door open and started running, her teary eyes making it hard for her to see where she was running. She had to walk out of this place. Sobs left her.

Hell, she was now sure how she felt for Adrien.

Marinette walked out of the mansion. She did not care about the pouring rain, blending on her face with her own tears. She wanted to get home as fast as she could.

At the window, Nathalie watched the teen run to the gate. She put the phone to her ear. "Everything went just as you wanted, sir."

"Adrien, what the hell?!" Plagg appeared in front of Adrien as soon as Marinette ran away. "What was that all about?! How could you tell her you pretended to care about her?!" Plagg's voice rose.

"She doesn't care about me, Plagg! Not anymore!"

"And that gave you the right to be a jerk?!" Plagg looked at Adrien in shock. "Adrien, can't you see it?! She did everything you did when you wanted to get over Ladybug!" As Adrien looked puzzled, the kwami continued, "She obviously tried to get over you, silly! She still loves you! And you broke her heart!"

Adrien's eyes widened in realisation. Plagg was right. Marinette was just trying to forget what she felt for him.

"Don't be stupid! Go to her! Now it's your chance to confess and tell her how you feel! If you don't do it, you're going to lose her as well!" Adrien sighed, then nodded. Plagg was right. He ran out of the room.

"Adrien!" He heard Nathalie's voice, but ignored it. He ran out, seeing Marinette still running. Adrien was about to call her name, but his eyes widened as he looked up.

"No, no, NO!" He screamed, running to Marinette as fast as he could. Luckily, he was faster than her and caught her waist. He held her tightly as she started slipping, pulling her to him, her back slamming against his chest. He heard her gasp. "Marinette-" He turned her to him. The girl immediately started hitting his chest.

"Let me go!" She screamed between sobs. Adrien grabbed her face between his palms.

"Look at me...LOOK AT ME!" His raised tone made her flinch. He looked past her, then in her eyes. They were red, filled with tears. "Marinette, please...don't think negatively...please" He whispered. He felt some sort of nervousness he has never felt before. Adrien tried to let out the words he has been dying to for days now, but it was like they wouldn't come out.

"You said you'd stop pretending to care! You-" She hissed, angry and hurt.

Adrien's eyes widened. "MARINETTE, STOP!" He screamed. He brought her face closer, resting his forehead against hers. "Please, stop...forgive me...I...I was a jerk. I lied. Please, don't think negatively anymore...I cannot lose you..."

Marinette tried to pull away.

"Marinette, I love you! Please..." Marinette's eyes widened. The way he said those words she has been dreaming of hearing - how desperate and hurt he said them. How his green eyes were now filled with fear, as well as guilt and some sort of adoration. Staring into her puffy, blue eyes. How he held her face firm so she wouldn't pull away, yet soft enough not to hurt her.

He was honest with her. He really loved her.

The anger and hurt she felt moments ago started fading. An aching pain went through her...but it differed from the one before. It was somewhat bittersweet.

"Y...you do?" She whispered, softly. They were both wet, but neither of them cared at this point.

Adrien nodded, his own eyes filling with tears. "Why do you think I broke up with Kagami? Why do you think I've avoided telling you about it?" He whispered, "I do love you, Marinette...and I've been too scared to tell you these past few days. I've been an idiot. I've always loved you, Marinette. But only now did I realise. After finding out you like me."

Her eyes widened. Her cheeks turned red. "H...how-"

"Does not matter." He mumbled. He smiled, his finger brushing her cheek. "What matters is that I finally realised you're the girl I truly love." Adrien smiled more, kissing the tip of her nose. Her cheeks were red.

A loud thunder was heard, but none of them reacted. They just stared into each other's eyes. Adrien started leaning closer, his lips brushing against Marinette's. He could feel her tense, but it wasn't long until he felt her own lips pushing to press against his own.

Years ago, they became friends when Adrien gave Marinette his umbrella. And now they were having their first kiss while the rain poured on them.

A/N: Hope you enjoyed this. Sorry it took so long to update, but yesterday I studied most of the day and then I focused on a little surprise I have for the New Years... :) Let's say it'll be a cute -a little cliche haha- story for all the Adrienette lovers.

By the way, just because they finally kissed does not mean things will be easy for our cute lovebirds.

Hopefully, I'll be able to update it tomorrow! But I cannot promise!

If you liked this, please review, favourite and follow the story.
