Night had fallen over the castle grounds. The only sounds to be heard was the magical creatures that lay awake outside, never once appearing out of their hiding spots. One magical creature was sitting alone on the cold, stone steps that would lead inside the castle. Her long blue hair, tucked inside the cream colored scarf that was wrapped 'round her.
It was too hot inside, and so she had decided to sneak outside. Don't get her wrong, she was never the one to break school rules but all the teachers were busy and its not like she was causing any trouble.
Her friends were probably all asleep now and so she took the opportunity to have some alone time. Watching the beautiful scenery all around her. From the castle itself to the natural and untouched scenery surrounding the area. It seemed weird that there could be lots of things that were capable to kill her just beyond the trees.
Nuzzling her nose within the warmth of her scarf, Umi let herself relax and forget the stress she has felt for the past week. It wont be long until she would return to her dorm and the stress would begin once again. At least she had this moment-despite how small-to relax.
"Umi?"
The girl in question jumped, a small squeak escaping her mouth. Her amber eyes snapped towards the voice. And standing there, with red puffy eyes, was Mako.
The boy had hoped to be alone, so wasn't expecting Umi of all people to be there. He quickly wiped his eyes, doing so in hopes the girl didn't notice that he had been crying. He was a man too. The amount of teasing it could cause.
But despite his best efforts, Umi had noticed. "You're crying" it came out more like a statement than a question. And Mako soon found his head hanging in silent shame.
The girl got up from her sitting position and made her way over to her younger friend. Lifting his head up to get a better view.
Mako twitched and avoided eye contact, a small blush rising on his cheeks.
Umi let out a sigh and gently wiped a stray tear from his eyes.
The red head leaned in until his head was resting on her shoulder, arms tightly wrapped around her waist.
Umi smiled genuinely and stroked his back for comfort. Even though he was a year younger, the two had a respectful bond between them. Umi sometimes felt saddened by the fact that they don't interact much.
Of course she understood thanks to not only being in the year above but the pair were also in different houses and were also occupied with personal matters. If is wasn't for the fact that Honoka introduced them, they would probably not even know of each others existence. There would be a few times where the would randomly bump into each other somewhere oh school grounds but that's about it.
After a few quiet moments, Mako pulled away. His gaze still cast downwards. Though, when a cold gust of wind blew past them, the red head shivered.
Umi smiled sympathetically and unraveled her scarf. Wrapping it once around the boy's neck before doing it up a little.
Mako's cheeks turned crimson and her started to protest "n-no thanks! you need it more" he said while starting to take it off, but was stopped by a delicate hand and stern eyes. Sighing in defeat he let go.
Umi smiled and turned to sit back down. Patting the spot next to her.
Mako scratched the back of his head before following, tucking his legs to his chest and hugging them. It wasn't long until he started feeling relaxed. Not only by the calm scenery around him but also by the girl next to him.
Umi had always seemed mysterious to the boy. With her dark flowing blue hair and those piercing amber orbs. She was always the one their friends go too for relaxation. Instinctively, Mako's gaze wondered over to Umi. And he took in the beautiful sight before him.
He still didn't understand how she was still single.
"Ah" the sudden noise made him jump and he looked at her with concern.
"what? what is it?" he asked.
Umi turned to him with a small smile. "Its snowing" she stated, looking up towards the night sky.
Mako followed her gaze, and sure enough it wasn't long until he spotted the white spots falling from the sky.
"Its beautiful" he breathed out, earning another smile from the blue haired girl. The action made him blush and he looked away awkwardly.
When he heard laughter coming from behind him, he turned his head back around to spot Umi failing miserably to hide her laugh behind her hand.
"What?" he asked, turning his entire body round to face the girl.
"Nothing its just..." she managed to say before more laughter came.
Mako crossed his arms in annoyance and tried to wait patiently for the girl to continue.
Once she managed to control herself, Umi coughed into her hand before continuing "you just look so... cute" she stated, her own blush rising.
Mako's eyes widened and it wasn't long until his face was the same shade of red as his hair. "E-eh!?" he lost balance and fell backwards, only adding more red to his cheeks.
Umi began to laugh again.
Cute, tsundere, handsome Mako. How anyone could pull off that mix, she didn't know. Despite how rare it was, Umi loved spending time with the younger boy. He certainly made the atmosphere amusing, well for her anyway.
Once his embarrassment died down, Mako crossed his arms and looked away in annoyance. Only amusing the girl even more as she scooted a little closer to the boy and gently pocked his cheek.
The boy pouted as his cheeks once again flared up. "Umi!" he whined, grabbing the girl by the wrists. Though soon to regret it as it made the girl loose her balance, causing the pair to topple over.
Now with his back against the cold stone and a warm, attractive girl on top, Mako didn't know if he was shivering from the cold or warmth.
Looking up, Mako's eyes locked with Umi's. Both pairs of cheeks a dark shade of red. And a pair of hearts beating rhythmically with each other.
Umi covered her face within her hands.
Though was soon looking into a pair of dark purple eyes. Mako leaned up until the tips of their noses were touching.
Steam started to rise from Umi's head, her gaze never leaving the boy's handsome features.
When she felt something soft against her lips, the first thing she did was tense up. But after feeling two secure arms snake their way up her sides and back, she let herself relax into the warm embrace.
Umi entangled her hands within soft red hair. Moaning when Mako started to gently rub her sides.
Mako grinned and sneakily slipped a hand through her shirt, earning a yelp and a jolt from Umi. Who didn't look to pleased by it.
With an annoyed pout Umi jabbed a finger into his chest accusingly "what were you just about to do?" she asked sternly.
Mako gulped as sweat started to form on his head.
Getting off of Mako, Umi sighed and reached out a hand "honestly..." she breathed out.
Mako gave a nervous grin and took her hand. Once off the floor, he looked towards the sky and twirled a strand of red hair between his fingers.
"We should be getting to bed" Umi yawned, stretching her arms above her head.
While doing so, Mako never took his eyes off her. Umi noticed and blushed, her hand pounding the top of his head "pervert!" she yelled before storming into the castle.
Mako rubbed the sore spot on his head. Sighing he was about to head inside when he realized that she still had Umi's scarf on.
Without a second of hesitation, he bounded after her.
"Wait Umi!"

Ihavenoidea: Eri, Kotori and Hanayo were behind the scenes laughing their heads off and searching for Umi's bunny ears xD lol Nozomi probably took loads and no one noticed. All ready to show them to Umi for her birthday xD
