Miss Independent by Kelly Clarkson

Three weeks passed by and a very special someone's birthday was coming up tomorrow, Charlie's! The princess was so excited she could not stop thinking about it. She replayed the events in her mind over and over.

Everyone would be in the hotel having fun. There would be presents, cake, friendship, puppy dogs, kittens, rainbows and- hold on! She was getting carried away for a second. So anyways, everyone would be having fun, and there would be dancing. Then, at the end, they could all picnic under the stars together. There, her and Alastor would share a special birthday kiss. Sigh, so romantic.

"Um Charlie?" Charlie was then snapped out of her fantasy. "You were off in daydream land again. Still thinking about your birthday?" Vaggie, who was sitting next to her at the bar with Alastor, asked. Charlie laughs.

"Guilty. Can you blame me though? I just can't help but think about how perfect this party is going to go! Everyone is going to have fun and be happy!" Charlie rubs her cheeks with excitement. Vaggie looks unsure.

"You sure Charlie? What about all the other parties you've thrown?"

"What about them?"

"They, um... you see uh..."

"What Vaggie is trying to say is... let's just say those parties didn't have such positive turnouts, my dear," said Alastor.

"Yeah, that's right Alastor."

"Come on guys, those parties weren't so bad!" said Charlie, trying to keep an optimistic attitude. "Remember that pool party?"

"Angel almost drowned."

"... Okay. Well, you guys remember the slumber party?"

"I almost punched Husk during an argument, and spin the bottle was... awkward," Alastor sighed, not wanting to talk about it.

"How about the birthday party we threw Alastor? That was good, right?" Vaggie and Alastor were silent. "Right?"

"We don't talk about that party. Ever," said Alastor.

"Okay fine, maybe some- most of the parties I've thrown went wrong, but with you two helping me, I'm sure it'll be a success! What do you say?" said Charlie. Vaggie and Alastor sighed.

"Sure darling, it's worth a shot," Alastor said with a smile.

"We'll try our best Charlie," said Vaggie. Charlie smiled and hugged the two.

"You guys are my best friends. Well, I'm going to rest early, got lots to do tomorrow," said Charlie running upstairs.

"I hope this goes well," Vaggie says, rubbing her temples.

Meanwhile, Sevanthian was in Arackniss's office, Sevanthian was pacing back and forth trying to come up with a plan to storm the royal palace. He then snapped and made scratch marks on his desk. He couldn't come up with a plan. Arackniss was always the one who made plans, good plans. "Maybe I shouldn't have tossed him. You know what, forget it! I don't need him, I don't need anybody! I can do it myself!"

He then stormed out of his office and out of the mansion. He walked over to Val's limo, which he stole, and hopped in. "Drive!" he barked at the driver. The vehicle then sped down the road. "Set our destination to the royal palace. I want to pay Charlotte's parents a little visit." he chuckled darkly.

The next day, everyone was getting ready for Charlie's party. Nifty and Alastor were in charge of food, Husk was in charge of decorations (which he was not happy about), Angel was in charge of music, and Vaggie managed everything. "Is there anything I can do?" Charlie asked. Vaggie sighed and sat her down on the couch.

"You can sit here and wait for everything to be ready, okay?" Vaggie said with a smile. "We wouldn't want the birthday girl to do work on her birthday. Let us handle it." Vaggie then walked away. Charlie sighed.

"Fine. What am I supposed to do in the meantime?" Charlie thought for a moment. "Gasp, I could send mom and dad an invite! But... then I'd have to tell them about the hotel. Eh, I'm sure they'll understand." Charlie ran up to her room and to write to her parents an invite.

Meanwhile back downstairs, Vaggie was taking a break from managing the party to work on her gift for Charlie. She was in the big dining hall, singing to herself. Angel happened to pass by the door and heard her singing. He peaked into the room to see Vaggie.

"You really do have a beautiful voice." Vaggie jump out of shock.

"Don't scare me like that!" Vaggie growled at Angel. "What are you doing here anyway?"

"Just checking up on everybody. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be looking after everyone else?"

"I'm working on a present for Charlie. It's a song I wrote."

"An original song? Nice, I could never come up with something that creative." Vaggie was flattered.

"Thanks, I should probably get back to work." Vaggie quickly rose up from on of the tables she was sitting at.

"Yeah, me too. And Vaggie?"

Vaggie turned to Angel. "Yes?"

"Um..." Angel hesitated for a moment. "I can wait to hear your song, I bet it's amazing," he said blushing. Vaggie blushed as well.

"Thanks Angel, and it will." Angel then walked out of the room. He smacked his forehead and whispered to himself.

"Dammit Angel, that's not what you meant to say! Why do you keep screwing up!" When Angel was out of the room, Vaggie sighed.

"That was close." Vaggie pulled a paper out her pocket that read "Song For Angel" with a bunch of lyrics on it. "Sigh, I really do like Angel. Yep, I admit it, I like him." She held the paper to her chest. "I guess... I could open up to him no more. I thought I could never fall for someone, but I guess I was wrong. Looks like Little Miss Independent fell in love." She started singing.

Miss Independent

Miss Self-Sufficient

Miss Keep-Your-Distance

She started dancing around.

Miss Unafraid

Miss Out-Of-My-Way

Miss Don't-Let-A-Man-Interfere, no

She sat on the table.

Miss On-Her-Own

Miss Almost-Grown

Miss Never-Let-A-Man-Help-Her-Off-Her-Throne

So, by keeping her heart protected

She'd never ever feel rejected

Little Miss Apprehensive

Said ooh, she fell in love

She stood up on the table and spotlight shone upon her.

What is the feelin' takin' over?

Thinkin' no one could open my door

Surprise its time

To feel what's real

What happened to Miss Independent?

No longer need to be defensive

Goodbye, old you

When love is true

She leaped off the table and dance around some more.

Misguided heart

Miss Play-It-Smart

Miss If-You-Want-To-Use-That-Line-You-Better-Not-Start, no

But she miscalculated

She didn't want to end up jaded

And this miss decided not to miss out on true love

She sees an image of Angel her her dancing.

So, by changing her misconceptions

She went in a new direction

And found inside she felt a connection

She fell in love

She dances under a spotlight.

What is the feelin' takin' over?

Thinkin' no one could open my door (open this door)

Surprise it's time

To feel what's real

What happened to Miss Independent?

No longer need to be defensive

Goodbye (goodbye), old you (old you)

When love, when love is true

When Miss Independence walked away

No time for love that came her way

She looked in the mirror and thought today

What happened to Miss No-Longer-Afraid?

It took some time for her to see

How beautiful love could truly be

No more talk of why can't that be me

I'm so glad I finally see

What is the feelin' takin' over?

Thinkin' no one could open my door

Surprise (surprise), it's time

To feel (to feel) what's real

What happened to Miss Independent?

No longer need to be defensive

Goodbye (goodbye), old you

When love, when love is true

Miss Independent

All the lights come on in the dining room, and she walks out with a smile on her face.
