Today was the day Mitzi was going to start confronting the runaway Test Robots and put an end to their destructive antics. With her new deactivator tool and her whistle to call the ever-so-helpful Elite Puffles whenever she needed them, she knew those robots wouldn't stand a chance against her.
Right now, she was standing near the Clothes Shop with Dot and the Jetpack Guy. For some reason, the entrance to the shop was barricaded by a pile of boxes. Standing next to the Coffee Shop were the Rookie, Aunt Arctic, and the devastated Clothes Shop manager. From what Mitzi had heard, one of the robots was in the shop, trying to cause some destruction.
"Thank goodness you came, Agent!" said Dot. "We have one of G's test robots cornered in the Clothes Shop."
"That robot's not going anywhere without one of us noticing," said the Jetpack Guy.
"Oh, good job, guys!" said Mitzi. "What are your current orders?"
"Our priority is to keep penguins out of danger and watch the store for robot activity," said the Jetpack Guy.
"Do you have any idea what the robot is doing in there?" asked Mitzi.
"Not really," said the Jetpack Guy. "It was too quick for me to get any idea."
"But we've surrounded the store and are watching all of the exits," said Dot.
"I think now might be the perfect time to try out G's new gadget," said Mitzi, looking at the deactivator tool that was added to her Spy Gadget.
"What should we do next, Mitzi?" asked Dot.
"I'm going to go in and try to deactivate the robot," said Mitzi. "Stay alert in case I need backup!"
"We barricaded the door to keep the robot inside," said Dot. "It was just too fast for me to handle."
"Alright, help me slip in and I'll handle the deactivation," said Mitzi. "I'm really quick on my feet."
"Is there anything else we can do to help you?" asked Dot.
"I'll just need everypenguin to be prepared for when I open the door in case the robot tries to get away."
"But what about you..." said Dot.
"Don't worry about me," said Mitzi, cutting Dot off mid-sentence. "The Elite Puffles have my back, plus I have the Robotomy upgrade on my Spy Gadget."
"Don't hesitate to call for help," said Dot. "We don't want to see you in any danger."
"Thanks, Dot," said Mitzi. "I can rest easy knowing that the rest of the Elite Penguin Force are looking out for me."
The young agent was ready to go into the shop and confront the robot, but first, the boxes that were blocking the door needed to be removed. Luckily, Mitzi knew what to do in a situation like this. She blew her puffle whistle and summoned Pop.
"Pop, do you see that stack of boxes blocking the entrance?" said Mitzi. "I'll need you to get those out of the way."
Pop obliged and blew a bubble that lifted the boxes off the ground, making the entrance open again.
"Alright! Good job, Pop!" said Mitzi. "You ready to go in? Let's do this!"
Mitzi bravely entered the shop and looked around for the robot. Where could it be?
Suddenly, she saw a robot penguin rolling on a wheel, trying to break into the shop's vault. From what Mitzi had learned the three robot penguins Gary invented were the Wheel-Bot, the Snow-Bot, and the Jet-Bot. Since this particular robot moved around on a wheel instead of legs, it must have been the Wheel-Bot.
"Primary steel content secured, retrieval at 50%," said the Wheel-Bot.
"There it is!" thought Mitzi. "The first Test Robot! What is it doing?"
"Redirecting hydraulic output from leg motor to back motor...SUCCESS," said the Wheel-Bot.
"It's trying to nab the Clothes Shop's vault!" thought Mitzi.
"Intruder warning," said the Wheel-Bot as it sensed Mitzi's presence. "Threat level assessment low. Continue retrieval."
"Stop right there!" said Mitzi. "You're supposed to be helping Club Penguin, not destroying it!"
"Processing answer...ERROR...Conflicts with prime directive," said the Wheel-Bot.
"Oh boy, this isn't going to be easy..." sighed Mitzi. Apparently, these robot penguins were hard to reason with. She decided to try again to see if she could get the Wheel-Bot to listen.
"Please stop breaking into the vault!" she said. "You're not supposed to be doing things like this!"
"Executing Primary Directive..." said the Wheel-Bot.
There was no reasoning with this metal behemoth. Mitzi knew she had to find a way to deactivate it for good. She couldn't use the Robotomy gadget now, not while the robot could still get away. She knew she had to call another puffle to help her out. She blew her whistle, and a few seconds later, Bouncer appeared.
"I didn't expect you to appear, Bouncer," said Mitzi. "But I sure hope you have a way to flow this tricky robot in its tracks."
And Bouncer did. She juggled some snowballs on her head and threw one into the Wheel-Bot's face, blocking its vision.
"Proximity breach. Evasive Action 3...FAIL," said the Wheel-Bot. "WARNING. Unexpected optical breach. Optical sensor strength at 50%."
"Great job, Bouncer!" said Mitzi. "This robot isn't fast enough to dodge all of your snowballs."
"Threat level assessment increased to medium," said the Wheel-Bot. "Remitting Primary Objective. Proceeding to Secondary Objective Retrieval."
Then it rolled off and busted through the staff-only door leading to the storage room.
"Secondary objective?" thought Mitzi. "I don't like the sound of that."
She opened the door and ran up the stairs to the storage room, but the Wheel-Bot was nowhere in sight. Where did it go?
Suddenly, she saw another hole made by the robot, right in the door to the roof. She opened the busted door, and there the robot was, hoisting a computer above its head.
"Intruder warning," said the Wheel-Bot when it saw Mitzi. "Threat level assessment medium."
"Give it up, Wheel-Bot!" demanded Mitzi. "The building is surrounded by secret agents!"
"Secondary objective secured. Calculating escape route," said the Wheel-Bot.
"Oh no," said Mitzi to herself. "This thing is getting ready to escape. I don't have much time left."
But luckily, the Wheel-Bot was distracted, because having so many agents around was making it hard for it to think of an escape plan, and Bouncer was still on Mitzi's side, so she knew what to do.
"Bouncer, throw another snowball at the Wheel-Bot's face!" Mitzi told the blue puffle. "Quickly!"
Bouncer threw another snowball at the robot's face, blocking its vision again.
"ERROR. Unexpected optical sensor breach. Optical sensor strength at 0%," said the Wheel-Bot as it tried to wipe the snow from its eyes. "Emergency brake engaged. Commencing distraction and disposal."
Now that the Wheel-Bot was distracted, it was time for Mitzi to stop it for good. But it was moving too much to use the Robotomy gadget, so Mitzi decided to call another puffle to help her. She blew her whistle, and within a few seconds, Flare appeared.
"Flare, can you do something to slow down the Wheel-Bot?" asked Mitzi.
Flare went up to the robot, put on his welding mask, and heated up the robot's wheel using his welding breath.
"WARNING! Critical temperature change," said the Wheel-Bot as it began to wobble. "Structural connectors compromised. Hydraulic junctions welded."
Mitzi watched in surprise as the Wheel-Bot fell down on its back. Flare's fire had welded the robot's joints still. Now Mitzi could deactivate it with more precision.
But just as she got close to the robot, she heard it drone "Broadcasting rescue signal...Broadcasting rescue signal...Broadcasting rescue signal..."
The Wheel-Bot was trying to call the other robots, so Mitzi knew she had to work fast. She opened up the robot's belly, took out the Robotomy tool and plugged it into the robot.
"Mainframe breach detected. Setting up internal firewalls," said the Wheel-Bot as Mitzi began the deactivation. Slowly and carefully, she removed the robot's parts and deactivated its systems. Once she was done, the Wheel-Bot stopped its call for help and began to power down.
"Rescue signal halted. All systems are OFF."
"Yippee!" said Mitzi. "I did it! I captured and deactivated my first robot. Now I just have to take it back to the Gadget Room and return it to Gary. Pop, put this robot in a bubble and we'll be good to go!"
The purple puffle blew a bubble to wrap the Wheel-Bot in, making it light as a feather. Now that it was deactivated and ready for travel, it was time to take it back to Gary at the Gadget Room. Mitzi held the robot under one flipper and used her Spy Gadget to transport to the HQ. She headed to the Gadget Room to show Gary the robot she deactivated.
"Welcome back, Mitzi," said Gary when he saw the young agent come in carrying the bubble-encased bot. "That is an interesting way to transport a robot."
"Hahaha..." chuckled Mitzi. "Yeah, I think bubble backpacks may become a new trend. Where should I put the Wheel-Bot?"
"Pass it to me," said Gary. "I have a special spot reserved for it."
"Right away," said Mitzi, handing over the Wheel-Bot. "One robot in a bubble coming up."
Gary examined the robot and noticed that there was snow covering its eyes and some of its joints were welded together.
"My...my," he said. "This robot is in rough shape, and I'm not referring to the snow and the welding."
"What's wrong with it?" asked Mitzi.
"Several backup components are missing," said Gary as he pushed the robot to a safe corner in one of the walls. "It's almost like this robot has been stripped for parts."
"Do you think it's related to the invention pages we found earlier?" asked Mitzi.
"Perhaps," said Gary, popping the bubble and setting the robot up for display. "They are designed to be adaptable, so it is possible that the robots could be trying to improve something about themselves."
"Well, I'm glad we got this one when we did," said Mitzi. "They are already hard enough to catch without any upgrades."
"Indeed," said Gary. "Now that this one is back to its original spot, we have to start looking for the other two."
"I couldn't have said it better," said Mitzi. She was ready to find the other robots and deactivate them. Once they were all defeated, peace would be restored to Club Penguin once again.
