Chapter 14

Never (Part 1)

Felix's point of view.

School was as boring as ever.

Literally. The day was no different to any other school day, but gladly; Fallon, Brian, Sapphire, and I were all headed to tryouts now.

We're currently riding the bus there though since it's a long walk and we're all far too lazy.

"We have arrived at whirlpool street." The bus driver informs all passengers on board, earning a nod from us four as we tap our grey Myki cards on the green machine to pay for the trip.

When we hear the beep, beep sound. We hop off the bus one at a time, walking on the grass over to the almost white pavement.

"So, Fallon." I voice in attempt to stir him up.

When he sends me an irritated look, success can be felt from just around the corner.

"What is it Felix?" He mumbles bitterly while walking around the corner, down the sandy steps that lead to the beach.

We all follow him, me walking much faster so that I can keep up with his pitiful attempt to escape.

"I was just thinking—"

"No." He cuts off before I can even say anything.

I roll my eyes in reply, trying to talk again.

"Who do you think will win today? Because, well. I won yesterday's trial and seeing as it's just you and I versing each other; I think I'll win." I state with my ego bursting to the scene.

"We'll see." Is all he replies while walking away from us.

"All Leon's press college students meet up over here!" The same guy from yesterday calls out to the people on the beach, a smile growing when he sees us four walking over to him.

"Ah, yesterday's entertainment has arrived." He chuckles. "Maybe less screaming and head dunking and today will be even more successful." He informs maturely, causing me to snicker.

"Oh, don't worry sir. That was an exclusive show, today will be much different." I assure with a salute.

He nods his head in agreement, calmly saying. "Yes, because this time you'll have competition."

My eyes widen in surprise upon what I heard, but the lifeguard had already walked off before I could ask any questions.

I go to run after him, but in the spur of the moment, I get shoved to the ground by someone.

"Stay down, dog." A bulky boy wearing yellow shorts with a white top growls at me, with two boys next to him snickering.

I groan from the sudden impact, looking up at him coldly. "Can't you keep your minions out of this fight if you're really gonna challenge me?" I bark harshly to him, making him furrow his eyebrows in anger, and the other two to have shocked expressions.

"Watch your mouth mutt, or else we'll hurt ya!" The boy to the left that's wearing purple shorts shouted with all the intimacy that he could possibly fake.

"Do better than that, you're making me bored." I add while faking a yawn.

The leader of the three clenches his fist ready to hit me, but as I had expected— the lifeguard has his wrist already in his hand, lifted upright into the air so that he couldn't swing for the hit.

"Really Jayden? How about you take your anger out on a punch on with the ocean, rather than an innocent boy. Unless of course, you're afraid that the water will beat you." The lifeguard teases, causing the boy to tense up.

"I ain't. You just watch me!" He shouts while calling his two slaves to follow him.

We all watch him ready himself to kick the water— and with all the amusement that I have— his foot sunk into the sand, causing him to plummet down face first into the water.

"Whoo! Yeah!" I cheer with fake enthusiasm, earning a sneering look from under his drenched yellow and black hair.

"You can thank us for getting the lifeguard to stop your brawling before it happened." Fallon mumbles bluntly with his arms crossed against his chest.

I drop one knee down to the sand and give him and the other two an awarding bow.

"Oh, why thank you great one." I praise with one hand in the air.

I could feel his stares shoot darts through me, but not before the slap on the head he gave me did.

"Don't be ridiculous." He mutters while walking off, having Sapphire in a yellow skirt with a black crop top today.

She also frankly has yellow Pom, poms which I have high bets that Brian will steal off of her before the end of the day.

Brian grabs my wrist tightly to pull me up from the sand, when he tugs I land on my feet, but decide to lean my body in more forwards so that I'll fall into his chest.

He swiftly catches me, earning himself the moment to get a kiss from me.

I wrap my arms around his neck with my ass pushed backwards— giving off the view of my plump, juicy ass— and all my slim curves that will get shown to any viewers that dare to look.

He leans his head in close to mine, passionately kissing my lips with his hand held firmly on my ass— showing that I'm his and what he's holding is also his.

The kiss escalates to unplanned measures as Brian shoves his tongue down my throat, allowing me the moment to gag, chock, and suck on it.

Whistles could be heard from all around us, surprisingly everyone being supportive.

I could feel someone tap me on the shoulder, so we broke the make out session for a split-second, but my eyes widen when I see a flushed lifeguard.

"Uhm, we're starting..." He drifts off awkwardly with an itch to his brown hair. "Though, I would let you two boys continue if we weren't." He quickly adds so that he doesn't give us the wrong idea.

Brian and I nod our heads in approval, me following behind the lifeguard with Brian giving my ass a quick squeeze from behind, earning a quiet yelp from me before he walks off to where Sapphire is.

I smile with my head facing down to the sand while in deep thought about Brian.

When I'm around him, things feel so right.

"You finally showed up." Fallon comments from where he's standing in a line that's filled with boys.

The black- and golden-haired boy was next to him, giving off greasy looks in my direction.

I roll my eyes in return, shoving the boy aside so that I could stand next to my brother.

"Thank you." I smugly say when I see the spiteful look that Jayden gives me.

Before any further comments could be made, the lifeguard blows his whistle to get all of our attention.

"Alright, students! Today is all about competition. And quite frankly, I've already matched up a few competitors myself." He informs us with a smirk.

"Now, to get things heated for the first heat. I've chosen Fallon, Felix, Jayden, and Archer!" The lifeguard calls with his fist pumping up towards the sky.

"How awesome will this be, boys!?" He shouts with joy radiating from him.

Fallon and I glare at one another, afterwards shooting the glare over to Jayden next to me.

The question is, where's Archer?

"Duck!" A boy shouts from behind the lifeguard, earning all of the students ducking at the same time as he kicks a football into the air which luckily lands in the water— floating away.

"Ah, fuck!" He screams while running on the sand to dive into the deeper end of the water, swimming after his football.

"I guess that's Archer.." I mumble to myself while watching the boy use professional swimming techniques.

"And our late competitor has arrived with a dramatic entrance..." The lifeguard states with a hand on his hip with his other hand itching the back of his neck nervously.

"Not to mention the profanity..." He adds on top of his previous speech but shakes his head in the overall.

Archer comes racing back with his football in hand, placing it roughly onto the sand.

"Alright, I'm here! And I'm so ready to surf!" Archer cheers with the determination that's flowing through his veins, flashing the look of adrenaline in his brown eyes.

"You two surfing?" He asks Fallon and I, in which I cut him off before he can talk.

"I'm surfing. He on the other hand will use that word as an excuse for him to drown with style." I voice with a snickering tone, which earns a jab in the arm from Fallon.

"Will not!" He shouts in exasperation to try and defend his dignity.

Archer laughs in reply, turning his attention to me.

"You two are brothers, aren't you?" He wonders with an intrigued look.

I itch the back of my blonde hair nervously with my hip swished to the side.

"More like rivals, but that works too." I confirm with my hand sliding down to the nape of my neck, the wind blowing on my naked torso.

"Understandable," He calmly states. "Who's the better surfer?"

"Me." Fallon and I comment at the same time, gaining a scoff from Jayden whose been standing next to me quietly.

"Don't lie to yourselves. We all know I'm the best here." He hisses with the flick of his golden, black hair that has his eerie gold eyes glowing from beneath his mop of hair.

"Looks like this competition just got a whole lot bigger." Archer coos with a vibrant orange surfboard now in hand.

"All surfers in the group of four that I named earlier. Your objective today is to do the most stunts and knock your crew mates off the waves WITHOUT INJURIES." The lifeguard remarks with a look of strictness. "I don't want anyone getting hurt." He implies with sureness.

The three of us nod our heads, except for Jayden of course, (The bully that shoved me on the sand)

"Grab your boards and set sail boys!" The lifeguard calls out.

I grab a green surfboard board, Fallon grabs a blue, and Jayden grabs a black.

"I'm so gonna enjoy knocking you off of your board." I snicker to Fallon who raises an interrogating eyebrow at me.

"You knock me off? That's a funny joke. According to you, I'm the one who will be sinking— so my board won't have a rider on it to knock off." Fallon corners me with a grin.

I growl beneath my breath to his mind game but find myself to be face to face with Jayden.

"If anything, you two, I'd be more worried about me knocking the both of you off your board(s)." Jayden threatens with the wind blowing through his hair majestically.

The ocean waves crash ever so lightly against the beach's shores, flashing with ripples of white jet bubbles with deep aqua and blue strokes from all around it.

"You're all bark, no bite." I shoot back at him, gaining a threatening look from him with his jaw clenched tightly in disapproval.

"If you three argue any longer than what you're already doing, I think the ocean might just run away." Archer states while sitting on the sand bored, his orange surfboard buried into the sand on an upright angle.

"Whatever." Jayden mutters, grabbing his black surfboard and dragging it into the water— just lightly floating it off on the waves with his body laying flat on the board and his arms paddling.

"You two coming?" Archer drifts off. "I doubt you two look like the kind of boys to share the spotlight." He snickers, while now floating his orange board off on the small wave too— his body laying flat on his board.

"His got that right." I grumble over to Fallon who gives me a hateful look back.

"Hurry up!" Archer calls from like 100 metres away.

I rush over to the water with my board underneath my arm, instantly placing it into the shallow water— kicking off from the sand— paddling my way over to the deeper waters.

Fallon does the same thing as me— though he rocks a bit from left to right— almost falling off of his board before we even get to start the contest.

"You look like you're struggling back there!" I call out to Fallon who's not too far back from me— though, he's not exactly close either.

"Do you ever keep your mouth shut!?" He shouts back at me, causing me to grin.

"Nope! And I don't plan on, so deal with it!" I yell back while paddling my arms more furiously in the water, kicking my feet to move my board much faster.

I manage to catch up to Jayden and Archer who are carelessly floating on their boards awaiting Fallon and my arrival.

When I arrive and park my board next to Jayden's, his glares only increase to a harsher level.

"Out of all the ocean here, you just had to be next to me, didn't you?" Jayden hisses maliciously, with his legs wrapped around his board from beneath, while he crosses his arms over his chest to assert his dominance.

"Pathetic." He grumbles beneath his breath with his chin raised slightly in the air, and his eyes closed for a more dramatic affect.

Archer rolls his eyes, splashing in the water so that he causes a ripple beneath Jayden's board.

The startled boy quickly opens his eyes from the sudden current, unfolding his arms and gripping onto the board that he almost fell off of.

I burst into a fit of laughter which has Jayden shooting me a death glare.

"You won't be laughing on the waves, buddy boy." He threatens, having the most perfect timing as Fallon finally makes his arrival known to us when his dead, exhausted body is flopped on his board, ever so slowly floating over to us.

"I made it!" He breaths out while lifting his head off from the board, along with the weight he had laying flat on the board.

He sits upright on his board, looking at each of us independently, but then his eyes widen.

"U-uh.." He stutters, resulting in us three looking at one another skeptically.

"Uh, what?" Archer asks with an eyebrow raised.

Fallon's jaw is dropped, as his feet splash around frantically in the water and then he points to behind us.

"UH, THAT!" He screams, turning his board around as fast as possible before impact.

The three of us look behind us, screaming all in union.

"AHHHH!" When the humongous wave collides with our boards, knocking us forcefully onto its tide.

Flashes of water being slammed into my face is all I could currently see.

Everything was blurry, mainly my surroundings.

It was all water and bubbles.

Bright aqua water, white destructive bubbles, and no sight of the sky.

But then I see an opening from in the cave of water.

I look all around myself, only than realising that I was surfing in a water spiral tide.

"Oh, fuck..." I say to myself when the echoing water splashes sound loudly from all around me, the cave enclosing slowly onto my presence.

"I gotta get outta here..." I mutter to myself as I spy on the water creeping faster by the second to my board.

"It's time to surf, boy!" I shout to myself, getting up from my sitting up position into a stand up one. Arms spread out and hips swishing furiously with my feet sternly on the board.

My board skids against the outskirts of the wave, bypassing its hunger to swallow me beneath the surface.

I use the pressure of the wave to flow against the tide, just calmly staying at the same pace as the glorious water.

"Hold it..." I mumble to myself when the wave comes closer to impacting with me again.

"Hold it.." I repeat again, arms outstretched to await the right moment.

"NOW!" I scream at the top of my lungs, adrenaline flowing through me as I flick my hips to turn my board to the left— sliding through the hollow tunnel all the way out of the wave onto the calmer ocean waves.

"Felix has just escaped the claws of that vortex wave, folks!" The commentator announces from all the way at the beach, my smile growing to the cheers of praise that could be heard from all the way out here.

"But, oh look! He's not the only one who has a fighting spirit as our other determined boy, Jayden has also just made a scene to this moment!" The commentator shouts with just as much enthusiasm as I was currently feeling.

I glance over my shoulder to spy on the almighty shark surfing on the top of the waves, so high up that he looks like he's the king of the waves.

The slyness in his smirk has me feeling small, but nonetheless, has no effect.

I grin back at him, putting less weight on my board so that the wave can lift my current position more aback.

When the wave moves me backwards to the point of me surfing on the same wave as him, I give him a small wave from where I'm surfing next to him.

"Hey, fancy seeing you here. Care to wave back?" I snicker with my posture upright, my smile big, and my confidence high.

He rolls his eyes to my joke, tilting his foot slightly on the board, so that the pressure of the wave would splash onto me from the change in direction, in attempt to hopefully knock me off balance.

I also tilt my foot, skidding on my board down the wave instead— avoiding impact completely.

A groan of frustration could be heard from behind me, right until a loud sounding splash got heard.

"And here comes Archer!" The commentator informs everyone, my eyes turning to the hot male surfer behind me that knocked Jayden almost fully off balance when passing by him on the waves.

Archer has a masculine body sculpture; his grin is so damn hot and sexy— especially with the breeze whipping through his black hair.

His brown eyes are focused intently on the waves— him having full control of the water and not the other way around.

His eight-pack tenses up with every turn he does when surfing on the tides.

And right as I think he can't get any hotter— he rides a large wave, grabs onto the bottom of his board in a crouched position— and does a backflip, landing it perfectly.

The whole crowd bursts into cheers from at the beach.

"Looks like Archer has scored the first stunt, people!" The announcer praises, causing a tension to be felt from behind me where Jayden is.

"It isn't over until it's over." Jayden growls, shifting his position into a crouched down one and then a standing up one so quickly, that the motion he uses to flick the board into the air is only at his feet like a skateboard.

"The scores are all tied up between Archer and Jayden! Fallon and Felix need to get their head's in the game." The commentator states with entertainment.

"Hope ya heard that, Felix." Archer coos sweetly from where he's surfing beside me calmly, not even taking any interest in knocking me out of the game yet.

"I did." I assure him with a smile.

He smiles back, but then Fallon skids a wave into our direction— resulting in us both being splashed— but luckily not stumbling off of our boards.

"Did you boys miss me?" Fallon asks with the biggest grin you could imagine.

"Never." I growl back.
