Lady Miss Fortune Chapter 12: "Go Separate Ways"
New chapter, new cover art! I just felt like the old one was too simple...so I decided to make something a little more elaborate. But it looks super tiny...so ya can't really see... :I
Also, I have like a million different versions of the new cover art.
Ok, so hear me out:
I wanted for there to be like a kinda creepy-dark-swirl-thing in the background, ya know like...that...horror...movie...ish...esque...thing...? I DUNNO OKAY?! Anyways, so because I apparently can draw a full human, but am too lazy to draw the background, I was gonna use an image from google...and I couldn't find anything. So then I found out that gradient looked kinda creepy-swirly-cave...y? (What the heck am I saying lol) SO ANYWAYS, I DECIDED TO DO GRADIENT. Then, I discovered that Lady Miss Fortune's legs got lost in the black portion of the drawing...so I made another copy of the drawing with more white in the gradient effect. That somewhat satisfied me, but still...ehhhhhh...I still feel like she blends in with the background too much. I couldn't do just a white background, 'cuz obviously I don't want this to look like some random person who has no idea what they're doing drew it on their freaking iPad (that's exactly what it is), and that would just look way too simple. I tried it with a light grey background, and yes, while the drawing did stand out, it still looked extremely basic...so, ditched that...next, I debated long and hard about whether or not to write "MISFORTUNE" across the front. I thought it might be distracting but I kinda liked it so I just made a copy with the letters but kept the one without the letters. Then when I posted the cover art, I thought maybe LMF (let's just abbreviate her name to that. Idk if that actually means anything lol) would look better enlarged so you couldn't see anything past her waist. (via her legs got cut off) But uhh...she kinda just looked weird...so, back with tiny LMF it is...
Yeah in the end I settled for increased-white-gradient-with-letters-not-enlarged LMF...but I have like ten other copies.
Ó~Ò
Also I'm writing this author's note after I've written the actual story so I'm just chilling :I
Anyways, reviews:
Toshiro of the Eternal Dream: Just when we thought the trouble was over :S
xSapphirexRosesxFansx: Oof, I hadn't thought about Lila! Although, I feel like her twisted mind would be satisfied by everything that happened. Maybe we'll see her later in the story, maybe we won't...idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dranafile: Well this chapter doesn't really reveal why or how the akuma thing happened, but chapter 13/14 will. :)
BedwardFanForever: Lol, it would be so much fun to live in fantasy worlds XD
Enjoy!
Marinette yawned, rolling over in here sleep. She mumbled drowsily, "Just five more minutes, Tikki...there's no school today...stop..." When the squeaking sound didn't come to an end, Marinette groaned, pulling a pillow over her head, "Tikki, stop it!"
Matinette's eyes shot open, and she jolted awake, "Wh-" She turned to Tikki, confused, "Why did you wake me up?!"
"MARINETTE! Finally!" Tikki huffed.
"Tikki, it's the middle of the night! What did I tell you about-"
"Look outside!"
"Why?!"
"Just look!" Tikki sounded afraid. Frowning, Marinette opened the curtains and gazed out the window. Tons and tons of akumas whizzed past the glass, like a flock of birds migrating.
The blue haired girl stammered, appalled, "How did this happen?! I thought the akuma died!"
"There's akumas everywhere! They're ALL OVER Paris! Watch the news!" Tikki squeaked.
Reaching a hand over to her nightstand, Marinette grabbed her phone, pulling up the news website:
"Hi, Nadja Chamack here, coming to you live! Today, we're witnessing the sight of thousands of akumas filling the skies of the city of Paris as we speak! Citizens are advised to stay indoors, and let the authorities handle the situation." Nadja winked at the camera, "Meaning Ladybug and Chat Noir, of course. As of now, neither of the superheroes have showed up, but I'm sure both are on their way! No akumatizations have been reported as of now, but remain on the lookout! We don't know what these akumas want! For more information, we go to..."
"Eek! Tikki, they're expecting me to be there!" Marinette quickly rushed out of the room, they came back with her day clothes on.
"I need to find Chat Noir!"
"It would be easier for me to go. I know kwamis aren't supposed to leave their owners, but it's easy for me to track Plagg. I could find them easier, and bring them to you."
"Ok. I'll be outside checking out...well, whatever is happening." Marinette agreed, and Tikki nodded then flew off. Marinette quietly tip-toed downstairs, then opened the door, and shut it quickly behind her to prevent any akumas from entering.
It was even more overwhelming to see the akumas in person. In the dead of night, Marinette could hardly make out their faint outlines. If it weren't for their glowing purple spots, Marinette didn't think they would even be visible. She swatted away one, although several of them were surrounding her like a swarm of bees. She could hardly see anything else besides akumas. Pushing her way past the crowd of akumas, she ducked behind a building. The akumas were less around there, but there were still a few flapping around her.
This is nuts. Marinette thought, the strangest thing is, that they're not even akumatizing anyone. They're not doing anything! Except for annoying me. Was that Hawk Moth's plan?"
"Time to de-evilize!" Marinette shouted, then cupped a hand over her mouth, "Oops...right. I have to wait for Tikki."
"Marinette?"
Marinette turned around, facing Adrien.
"Uh- hi."
"Hey..."
Plagg was floating beside him. The black kwami deadpanned, "Soooo, can we cut to the chase, or are ya both gonna creepily stare at each other like that?" Tikki shook her head disapprovingly.
"What? It's getting weird." Plagg grumbled, "They should just stop acting so awkward and say that they like each other already."
"Excuse me, might I remind you that we were literally just arguing a few hours ago?" Adrien retorted sharply.
"It's soooo obvious you like each other."
"That's enough-" Adrien started.
"You don't get to say what's enough, kid, I do. I've been on this Earth for a couple thousand years more than you." Plagg crossed his arms.
"That's enough, Plagg." Tikki snapped. Plagg flicked his tail but didn't argue with Tikki.
"So, same time?" Adrien asked, turning to Marinette.
"Okay."
"TIKKI, SPOTS ON!"
"PLAGG, CLAWS OUT!"
"What do you think the akumas want?" Chat asked, kicking one of them away.
"I don't know for sure, but it's probably not good, knowing what Hawk Moth is capable of."
"What we do know, is that Hawk Moth must have a purpose for this...after all, why waste the time and energy to release tons of akumas, if they aren't going to do anything?" Chat frowned.
"This is all very strange." Ladybug took out her phone, "Use your phone light."
"Okay." Chat agreed. Once Ladybug stepped away from the building, akumas started swarming around her. Both Chat and Ladybug kept them back with their weapons.
"Should I try de-evilizing?"
Chat shook his head, "There's too many."
"Look's like they're clustered over the tops of buildings, mostly." Ladybug gasped, "There! There's a huge group of them on the roof of that building!"
"We should go check it out." Chat swung onto a building, Ladybug following her. They jumped from roof to roof until they reached the building Ladybug had pointed at.
The akumas fluttered away as soon as they got there.
"That's strange...they were surrounding us a minute ago..." Ladybug blinked.
"I don't get it...are they flying away or towards us?" Chat asked.
"Both...?"
"Why don't we split up?" Chat suggested, "We'd cover more ground."
"Okay. We'll meet back in front of my parents' bakery at...12:30?"
"That's work."
"Wait, Chat...I need to ask you..."
"Ask me what?" Chat spun around.
"Nothing. Never mind." Ladybug knew shouldn't be taking up any more of their time, but part of her just wanted Chat to stay with her. Even if she'd gotten mad at him. Even if he didn't like her back. He was still Adrien.
I should have told him I was sorry. Marinette thought as she watched the black-clad superhero leave. Now, she was alone more than ever.
I'm just too much of a worrywart...nothing will happen to either of us...right?
