Chapter 13 Hostage situation
It's been about 2 weeks since Amon and Cinder were killed and since the Equalist movement was taken down.
And of course since Korra found out she was pregnant and was now engaged to Sean who was now fully recovered and adapted to the metal inside him.
Currently Korra was in their home back in the states after deciding to take a vacation away from the four nations until the baby was born.
Korra was currently waking up with a moan as the sunlight hit her eyes making her open them before smiling as she turned over and grabbed her fiancé only to find the bed empty making her sit up seeing he wasn't there before getting out of bed and put on a robe.
Sean was currently in the basement which was his personal lab when not at Atlas.
"Ok let's try this now." Sean said working on his computer before starting a program for a new weaponized cybernetic replacement only for the results to come back negative. "Ah fuck." Sean said annoyed.
"I thought you made everything perfect." Korra teased as she walked to him with a smile making him chuckle.
"Science is trial and error Korra. No one gets everything right the first time." Sean said as she kissed his cheek. "Morning." Sean said.
"What time you'd get up?" Korra asked sitting next to him.
"Around 8. Didn't want to wake you up since you looked real tired." Sean said.
"What do you expect? Those last few days against Amon were hell. And what Stryker tried to pull." Korra said holding her stomach.
"Yeah. He was a real piece of work. Can't believe he was one of my commanding officers back in the day." Sean said.
"He said you two had a falling out. What exactly happened?" Korra asked.
"He had discovered the Adamantium metal he talked about during the procedure. What he didn't tell you though was that he wiped out an entire village to find it since some dirtbag brought back a sample as a souvenir. Traced it back to that village and held them hostage. Back then I always followed orders but after that...I had no choice but to report him in to Shepherd about what happened. By then he had also taken out an entire town for the Vibranium under it which was just as strong. That was the last straw and he was sentenced to four years in military prison." Sean said.
"No wonder you hated him so much." Korra said before he held her close.
"Korra, you're gonna find the world is full of people like them but the number has decreased rapidly over the years." Sean said.
Later
The two were at Atlas in Sean's more equipped lab as he was working on something.
"So you work on technology and you're a soldier. Kind of a strange combination." Korra said making him chuckle.
"Some here would consider that the best kind of combination actually. People like that are a rarity in this world." Sean said before pulling out some kind of technological whip before it turned on showing electricity coursing through it before Sean slashed a test dummy in half.
"Nice." Korra said impressed making him smirk before turning it off. "So I know you, Reznov, Julia and Turok are Avatars of Life, Death, Courage and Nature. What about other Avatars?" Korra asked.
"There are at least over a hundred. Most of them represent elements like Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Lightning, Metal and so on but some also represent Time, Space, Power, Reality, Mind, Soul and various others. Theres an Avatar for the more important aspects of existence." Sean said.
"Has there ever been a dark Avatar?" Korra asked curious.
"No...But there have been students of Avatars who went Dark for selfish or understandable reasons. The More selfish reasons would be because they got drunk with the power they were given. The more understandable reason is because they wanted to rule in their own way to bring peace. Though that last one was more rare than the first" Sean said.
"If they went bad why teach them at all?" Korra asked.
"To pass on their knowledge to those who could help maintain order and stability. They trained thousands of students in their time due to their longevity." Sean said.
"I guess that makes sense." Korra said before an alert came up.
"Oh now what?" Sean asked pressing a button before Irons appeared.
"Sean, I need you to get geared up. The Task force just got called in." Irons said.
"I'm on leave here." Sean said.
"Can't be helped. This is a delicate situation." Irons said making him sigh.
"Fine. I'll get ready." Sean said ending the feed. "I know I promised we would be spending more time together but..." Sean tried to say before she kissed him.
"Don't worry about it. Comes with the job." Korra said smiling at him making him grin before kissing her forehead.
"I'll be right back." Sean said rushing off.
Later
Outside an embassy building was the police and local Military forces.
In one building Taylor's team and Sean were observing the whole thing.
"Ok let's go over exactly what we're dealing with here." Sean said before a hologram of the building of the embassy came up.
"About 30 minutes ago A criminal group armed with heavy weapons took over a the 46th floor of the embassy." Taylor said.
"Thats the section regarding the immigrants and foreign transfers." Sean said.
"Exactly. We know they've taken hostages but the exact number is currently unknown." Taylor said
"At least 10 workers were in this section at the time however though." Sarah said.
"And the number of perps?" Sean asked.
"Also unknown. In a statement they made after they took over however though they referred to themselves as the individual 11. However it's unlikely that is the number of perps inside." Taylor said.
"A standoff inside an embassy, huh?" Diaz asked.
"There hasn't been a situation like this in decades. Not since that terrorist group tried to take the Pentagon using fresh robotic drones." Maretti said.
"What exactly are these guys demanding?" Hendricks asked.
"An immediate stop to the acceptance of all foreigners and immigrants into country and to publicly execute all of them in the country." Taylor said.
"Oh fucking please! Do they really think the country would do that just for the lives of 10 or less people? Theres no logic to that." Sean said in disbelief at how stupid these people were to think they could ask for that.
"Yeah my thoughts exactly. Theres no way the senate or the president would ever approve of that. Norris would thats for sure." Taylor said. (Same Colonel Norris from call of duty Modern warfare 2019)
Meanwhile
Irons was meeting with the top generals of the country while Korra was with him.
"The real problem with this terrorist even is the damn timing. The President was set to make an announcement in an upcoming policy address regarding the transfers and immigrants. It would have put a temporary stop of them coming into the country until a new plan that benefits everyone could be made and put into action." General Lyon said.
"This is the first major shift in that policy since Cinder and her brothers became the most wanted people in the world for their actions for not only killing the third generation but for the mass genocide they committed afterwards." Irons said.
"Genocide? What are you talking about?" Korra asked.
"I'm surprised Sean didn't tell you. But then again the event was hard to forget or bring up. 15 years ago Ariac had created an extremely powerful and deadly virus that killed 25% of the world's human Population before it was stopped 10 years ago." Lyon said shocking her.
"Mostly civilians were killed in that event and it left the civilian workforce in the country to a down low. So in order to build it back up again we opened up the boarders and allowed foreign transfers from other countries to find work if they couldn't back home." Irons said.
"So why are these guys wanting them dead?" Korra asked.
"Simple racism. It's gotten rare but acts like these weren't uncommon after Altair and the other Avatars were killed. Since then Racism went back up but lately it's gone down again. Also a fact being our work force has nearly been replenished to what it once was and hence why we need to slow it down so American Citizens can have jobs in the country." Colonel Davis said.
"So in turn it may have also convinced them to act so that more jobs are available to those who were born in the country." Shepherd said.
"Shepherd send your men in and we can resolve this without incident and hopefully find out exactly why these men acted and see if they were acting alone or if they were taking orders from someone else." Irons said.
"Not so fast. We still don't know the situation in there. We don't know how many hostages are in there or how many terrorists. We would essentially be going on blind." Lyon said.
"She's right on that." Shepherd said.
Meanwhile
"What the hell are you doing?" Hendricks asked as Sean strapped himself into machine.
"We know theres a landline phone in there. I'm hoping once the number is called and someone answers that person will have a Cyber Brain for me to hack into and see the situation." Sean said.
"It's a sound plan. Go for it." Taylor said as Sean dialed the number
At the Embassy the phone line rang for a second before someone answered it.
"Got a bite." Sean said as he took control.
"Whats wrong?" One of the Terrorists asked.
"Nothing. Not from the cops or anyone."
The person Sean took control of shook a little as he tried to fight off this trap.
"Son of a bitch is all natrual with a Cyber Brain eh?" Sean asked.
"Find anything on the group?" Sarah asked.
"Hang on." Sean said looking through the eyes seeing the hostages. "We got at least 8 hostages in there." Sean said.
"Ok, see if you can access anything on the group." Taylor said.
"I did. These fuckers are acting alone. The real reason they want their demands met is just to simple see foreigners die for mere amusement and to insure only people born in the country get the best jobs." Sean said before his puppet heard gunfire before controlling him to see the source. To his annoyance he found one of the dead terrorists and one dead officer and another hanging by a cable. "Stupid morons." Sean said.
"What is it?" Sarah asked.
"Fucking Police got caught scouting out the building and killed one the bastards. You know they'll retaliate." Sean said.
"Yup." Taylor said before contacting Shepherd.
Meanwhile
"They did what!" Shepherd yelled.
"They tried to scout out the situation but got caught. One of them is dead while another captured and they also suffered a loss." Taylor said on comms.
"Damn! Ok Taylor you have full authority to handle the situation. Get those hostages and take out these men." Shepherd said.
"Copy that." Taylor said ending his connection.
"Oh boy." Korra said.
"They'll be fine." Irons said.
Meanwhile
"Ok lets go in two man teams. Hendricks with me we go by elevator. Sarah and Diaz you two take the roof and make your way down. Kid keep control of that puppet. Use it to take out as many of them as possible once we go up." Taylor said.
"I'm on it." Sean said taking control.
"LETS GO!" Taylor yelled as he and Hendricks rushed to the Elevators before engaged cloaking technology.
One of the Terrorists was by the Elevator when he noticed it was coming up.
"The elevator is coming up!"
Thats when at least five of them were at the Elevator.
Thats when one looked at the puppet Sean was controlling who aimed at them.
"WHAT ARE YOU..." One tried to say till Sean opened fire at them.
"WHAT THE HELL!" One yelled taking bullets but it was seen his upper body had a strong metal protecting him before another shot the puppet.
"Well, shit." Sean said rushing to the drop ship.
The elevator opened up making one look but saw nothing before his head blew up before the one with a metal upper body ran off.
"I missed one of them since his entire upper body was enhanced." Sean said on comms as he flew up.
"I noticed." Hendricks said as Taylor went after him.
Some of the Terrorists were moving the hostages when one of their heads blew up.
"DAMNIT!" The other yelled before grabbing a woman in a headlock and moved away before taking a gunshot to the shoulder making him yell as he started spraying making Hendricks dodge.
"Shit!" Hendricks yelled following him.
Taylor kicked a door open before the one inside shot it to pieces before Taylor rushed in and started shooting him but his used his arms to block the bullets to his face.
"Don't think so!" Taylor yelled as he slammed him into the wall with his arm on his neck before they crashed down and broke his neck.
"One more to go." Taylor said on comms.
The last Terrorist entered a room before seeing his comrades dead making him growl before Sarah and Diaz aimed at him before he had his back to the wall.
"You are all traitors to your country."
"Oh put a lid on it." Sean said from behind the wall before his metal claws pierced it and his head making him gasp in shock before dying making him let the hostage go.
"General building is secure and no casualties." Taylor said.
"Nice work." Shepherd said.
Later
Sean and Korra were back at home relaxing on the couch after the events.
"This isn't a weekly thing is it?" Korra asked.
"Mmm. Depends on the situation. But no rarely ever that much." Sean said making her smile.
"Good. I'd rather have my future husband home more than not." Korra said making him chuckle before checking the news and frowned as Colonel Norris was on the news.
"The reason for this terrorist attack was simple. They no longer wanted foreigners in our country feeling they were taking the jobs that rightfully belong to US citizens and acted rashly." Norris said making their eyes widen.
"NORRIS YOU FUCK!" Sean yelled.
"Why would he just say that?" Korra asked as Sean got up and dressed.
"I'll be right back." Sean said kissing her before leaving.
Later
"DO YOU HAVE ANY NOTION OF THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR BLUNDER!" Sean roared at Norris who looked annoyed.
"I was simply stating the Truth. I agree with them actually since no foreigners should be in this great nation." Norris said making him growl in anger.
"You fucking dumbass! The government was set for tomorrow to make an announcement regarding those from outside the country that would put a temporary stop to them coming in with large numbers since the workforce has finally gotten back to normal. But now because of you it makes us look like we're caving into terrorist threats!" Sean yelled making his eyes widen before looking at the others who nod.
"General I swear I had no idea." Norris said in alarm.
"I don't care. You just made this country look like it can be pushed around. That is unacceptable." Shepherd said.
"You are hereby suspended of your command for the time being. Do we make ourselves clear." Lyon said making him clear his throat.
"Yes, M'am. I understand perfectly." Norris said as he was escorted out.
"We'll try to improvise tomorrow so it doesn't look like we caved in and explain this plan was already laid out before the attack." Irons said.
"Fucking idiot." Sean said leaving.
Later
"What a jerk." Korra said.
"You have no idea. To him the idea of letting anyone outside the country stay even for a second is disgraceful. The rest of the military are more open minded since everything we have now is because the world united. He can't see that because he doesn't want to." Sean said.
"He wasn't a mentor of yours was he?" Korra asked.
"No but he tried. I didn't like him since I saw his intentions right from the beginning. Saw me as a living weapon and tried to turn me into what he wanted. He doesn't even have real troops just robotic drones." Sean said before sighing. "But enough about that. Let's just relax." Sean said making her smile as they relaxed.
Authors Note: Next Chapter will have a little more action in it and an old familiar face Sean and Will remember.
