Spending the night wide awake was not something Percy had planned.
Ask someone out? How do I even do that? And you can just ask anyone? Later that night, Paul ( The king and his father,) told him that he would have to at some point. But it wasn't a big deal. This is what people were here for!
After a few energy drinks and cold coffee combined, Percy felt dead tired. His eyes shut, and slowly he was asleep. Maybe things were starting to go good for Percy, because he didn't have a 'Nightmare', for once.
This time he had a dream.
The dream wasn't so bad, really. Blue skies and green grass filled Percy's vision. A warm sun and cool breeze, though he couldn't quite feel it. Apparently he was having a picnic with a few people around him. A faceless woman and children, with beaming smiles on their faces. It wasn't exactly creepy, but it was rather...unsettling.
The woman, wearing a red dress came up and kissed him lovingly on the cheek.
Alright, thats gross. I barely even know you! Percy jerked his head away and looked at the children. They were playing some sort of ball game. Everyone there seemed to be happy and carefree. It also seemed like the kids were his...children. And that mean that woman was his wife, maybe?
In this situation, he would be happy. Kids he could take care of and watch grow up. A wife to laugh with, train with, someone who would always be by his side. If this was real, he would be overjoyed. But no. That wasn't the case.
Percy felt like he was forgetting something. Something he couldn't imagine life without. He began to think if that something was a someone.
"Master Perseus!" A voice said outside his room. "Breakfast is ready. Please be down in ten minutes."
Percy sat up and panted. That was certainly...interesting. Percy thought. That's over now. That dream was just something random. Yeah...
He got up from his warm, welcoming bed. He didn't notice the cold air that made him shiver, or the pitter-patter of rain outside his window. His mind was preoccupied at the moment.
Looking at his reflection in the bathroom, he sighed. Another day of the selection, and this time he hoped it would be unproblematic.
Breakfast was like the usual, Sally and Paul chatted about some of the kingdoms coming up events, Tyson was stuffing his face with peanut butter sandwhiches, and Estelle giggled hysterically as her cereal spilled in her.
"Estelle, you're so clumsy sometimes..." Paul laughed lightly and picked Estelle up.
Tyson looked at Percy across the table concerned.
"Are you okay, brother?"
"Hm?" Percy looked up from his food. "What do you mean?"
"You've been glaring at your food." Tyson said.
"Oh, I'm fine!" Percy changed his expression and continued eating. "Nothing to worry about."
Tyson glanced at Percy one time before taking a bite of of his sandwich. Percy sighed relieved, thank the Gods Tyson didn't ask anymore questions. After finishing off the last of his blue pancakes, Percy got up.
"Um, I going to visit Annabeth." Percy said awkwardly. "Is that okay?"
"Sure, Percy!" Sally said.
"Just be safe," Paul as as he wiped Estelle's face.
As soon as he got the 'ok' from his parents, Percy grabbed his shoes and bolted out one of the back doors.
He needed to talk to Ananbeth. About the whole asking people on dates and stuff. Maybe she had advice on dating! Percy saw guys looking at her all the time giving love-struck looks her way.
Percy felt a twinge of jealousy. Actually, scratch that. He just was being a bit protective of her. Totally not jealous.
About halfway to the building where Annabeth was staying, Percy noticed that his hair and shirt were slowly becoming wet. He looked up as a splash of water hit his eye.
Water? Percy covered his face with one hand. Oh, rain. I better get there before I get drenched.
Instead of entering through the front door, Percy entered through the back. No one could know he was here. Last night, Annabeth gave Percy the directions to her room. She said that she would make sure nobody was there at the time, so nobody saw him.
Cautiously, Percy knocked on Annabeth's door. It creaked open, and Percy saw... Annabeth.
No, this wasn't Annabeth's room.
"What-?" The girl in the door looked up at Percy. She had dark, straight hair and long smooth eyeliner. "Prince Perseus!" The girl squealed.
"Oh, uhm..."
"I'm Drew Tanaka!" she said giggling. "Oh, your hair is drenched. Come inside and dry off."
"Actually, its fine. I was on my way anyways-" Percy insisted frantically, trying to move away. How could he have made a mistake where Annabeth was? Crap.
"No, I insist." Drew batted her eyelashes at him and pulled him in her room. The whole place smelled like cherry blossoms, and Percy didn't know whether it smelled nice or was intoxicating.
"Price Perseus," Drew started. The two were sitting on a couch while Drew handed Percy a towel. "How come your so wet?"
"I was... In a hurry. And I didn't really notice the rain. I know, that was pretty dumb of me." Percy chuckled. "Also, you don't have to call me that. Percy is just fine."
Drew gasped delightedly. "Oh, are you giving special treatment, now? Am I your favourite?"
"No, not really."
"You're too kind!"
Percy just sighed and looked around him. He had to get out of there. Immediately.
"Look Drew," Percy got up and placed the towel on the coffee table, since he seemed dry enough to look presentable. "I thank you for your hospitality, but I need to get going."
"Aw, so soon!" Drew pouted and tugged at Percy's shirt, yanking Percy down. That made him fall on top of her. Alright, this was getting out of hand.
"I really have to go." Percy got up once more and "I-I'm sorry."
"Oh, fine." Drew frowned sadly and started to sit back up. "But come again, will you? For me?"
"Yeah... Of course. I hope to see you again, too." He said politely before exiting.
Percy finally got out of the room. He gasped, inhaling the fresh non cherry blossom smelling air.
That was weird... Percy thought. I hoping she doesn't tell anyone about that. He looked up and tried to process everything so far. Just as he lost all motivation to move on, he saw a familiar head of blonde hair. Annabeth, Finally!
Percyran up to her and put two hands over her eyes and said: "Guess who-?"
Annabeth elbowed him and twisted him arm around. And if that wasn't enough, she judo flipped him for good measure.
Percy rolled over on the ground and groaned, everything hurting everywhere.
"Oh my gods- Percy!?" Annabeth helped him up.
He rubbed his head. "Was that flip really necessary?"
Annabeth looked away. Her face flushed with embarrassment.
"Sorry about that."
"Its alright," Percy said. He laughed, remembering what just had happened. Should he tell Annabeth what had just happened? He was sure she would be way more mad than just angry. Despite all that, Percy decided to tell her what had happened. When they got to Annabeth's room, of course. "Could you take me to your room now?"
"Sure seaweed brain. By the way, you oddly smell like cherry blossoms."
"Do I?" A bead of sweat ran down Percy's temple. "Its a long story. I'll tell you when we get there."
"Ha ha, sure." Ananbeth grabbed Percy's hand and started walking. Her hand was soft. And warm. He didn't know why that was the first thing he thought of immediately. He must've hit his head too hard.
This is really random, but I just noticed that there are people who actually like my story. I don't know why I just noticed.
But I recently just read a few of the reviews and thankfully they are all great! I know i've said this like a million times but thank you so muchhh! It means a lot to know that people willingly read this trash of a fanfic.
Again, thanks for reading!
