Another sweet chapter before stuff gets a tad bit more serious... but you all can think over that, for now, *wink wink
I also want to clarify Marinette conceived in June and it is currently October so she is 5 months. And this chapter has NO smut. I know there is a part that makes it seem like there will be, but there isn't any so no need to worry.
Chapter Thirteen
Midnight at Marinette's
It felt like she was a little girl even if months earlier she was doing the same thing every few weeks. She hadn't realized how long it had been since she'd taken a day to just relax, and especially one with her best friend."So, for the perfect sleepover, what do we need?" Alya asked, pointing at Marinette.
The teen giggled sitting up and rocking back and forth."Pajamas,"
"Check," she said, pointing down at her grey and orange pajamas Marinette had made her for her birthday.
"Facemasks," the teen added.
"Check," Alya said, holding up a CVS bag.
"Nail polish,"
"Check."
"Candy," she added with a smile thinking about how Alya had forgotten them at their last sleepover which had been months prior.
With an eye roll, Alya chucked a snickers bar along with a bag of Reese's."Check check,"
Through a laugh, Marinette continued."Crappy romcoms,"
"Hell check," Alya said, pulling open her laptop open to a screen with hundreds of crappy love movies that followed the exact same plot.
Laughing again, Marinette thought."Oh, pizza!"
"Ordered," Alya said, tossing her phone down onto Marinette's bed.
"Well Madame Cesaire, I do say we have the perfect sleepover," Marinette announced as she and her friend curled up in stacks of blankets. Her hand remained on her stomach, a habit but also a protective tick she had received as her stomach began growing.
"Mhmm," she hummed, forcing the bag of Reeses open."We should have one with the girls before this little guy comes. Because we know you won't be attending any sleepovers then," she said, laughing.
Marinette nodded with her own laugh, though mentally frowned. Of course, she was excited and terrified to be a mom, mainly excited, but she would miss nights like this. Because soon enough he nights would be filled with a crying baby - and she couldn't wait."What do you want to watch?"
The reporter hummed, thinking over the many options they had on Netflix and Hulu."I dunno, we could always do a classic Christmas one."
"Too early," Marinette said, not keen on the idea of watching Christmas rom coms in October.
"Okay, we could watch just regular garbage." Alya suggested, passing at least three movies that would follow the exact same plot."Or we could do an actual good one."
"Good one?" Marinette couldn't help but question."You sure there are any good rom coms?"
"May I remind you of like every Nicholas Sparks books turned movies," Alya stated in a prestigious voice as if she'd truly been offended.
"Tousche," she mumbled, staring at the screen."What about that one?"
"Midnight at the Magnolia?" Alya asked, striking as she looked down at her BFF."Sorry girl it's a Christmas,"
"Eh, that's fine," Marinette said curling in. She felt her eyelids grew heavy and the time between her blinks grew longer as Alya hit play on the movie and continued to fumble with the Reese's bag.
"You awake?" Alya asked, waving her hand before the blue-eyed girl's face.
"Huh? Ya, ya," she said, sitting up so she 'had' to stay awake. Gently, she rubbed her eyes, screaming at herself to not fall asleep on Alya.
Alya laughed through a smirk."Don't know if I've ever seen you so tired, and your Marinette for Pete's sake."
Marinette nodded, laughing as the movie began to play."Try being pregnant. It does something to your sleeping schedule."
"Doubt it'll get much better once he's here," she warned, able to remember how exhausted her parents were after the twins were born.
"Don't remind me," she mumbled resting both of her hands on top of her round stomach. In just a week it had practically doubled and was now impossible to hide. Her mother practically squealed every time she saw it and she always noticed Adrien's smile looking at it. And personally, she was growing more comfortable with her bump as it grew. Yes, she did hear the occasional sny comment whenever she was out in public or snickers at school, but she was used to them. And why hide it? Not like she could. Only recently she'd ended her relationship with sweaters and shirts a few sizes too big and begun one with maternity shirts and creations of her own that clearly displayed her bump.
"He kicked yet?" Alya asked, taking a bite of her slice of cheese pizza. She gingerly touched her best friend's stomach, unable to feel a thing.
"No," Marinette sighed, excited to feel him and slightly disappointed that he was yet too."Should soon though, 5 months from last Friday so really any day,"
"Damn so your over halfway?" Alya asked, the very word causing Marinette to freeze up for a moment. 4 months. She had 4 precious months left until she'd meet her little boy. 4 months until her life would change forever." How are you doing?" she asked, voice turning slightly serious which clashed with the comedic part of the movie.
"Good, I'm excited, nervous, and terrified but excited," she said, looking to her right. No baby accessories along with a crib were present in her bedroom. So far, all she had was the baby blanket she'd knitted and many handmade baby clothes."We still have so much to get," she said, suddenly stressed even if she had 4 months.
"Don't worry girl," Alya smiled, slowly taking a sip of her drink."You'll get a bunch at your baby shower," she mumbled.
"Wait what?!" Marinette questioned, eyes wide and smile only spreading.
"Huh? Oh, I didn't say anything." Alya said, shrugging it off with a smirk.
Marinette groaned, but couldn't help but feel more excited."Can you at least tell me the theme?"
"Nope," Alya chimed.
Almost canonically, Alya had fallen asleep before the movie even hit the halfway mark."Look who's talking," Marinette mumbled through a smile, pulling the blanket over her best friend." Your Aunt Alya will be awfully sad she missed the end of this masterpiece," she said in a whisper down towards her stomach. Continuing to watch the ending of the quote masterpiece of a movie, Marinette slowly felt herself drifting off. But faint steps on her roof caught her attention and a sly smile spread across her face.
"Princess," she eventually heard a soft voice call up from above."Are you asleep?"
Hitting the space bar so the movie paused, the teenager hopped up on her knees, pushing the hatch door open." Alya's here so make it quick." she said smiling.
"Oh sorry bug," he apologized, sitting down beside the hatch door, gently helping her up."I just couldn't sleep without seeing your beautiful face."
She was happy the dark of the night covered her gleaming blush that ran across her round face."Enough flattery, what do you want, a kiss goodnight?"
The Chat couldn't help but grin, playing with a loose tendril of his lady's midnight hair that waved and frayed messily but gorgeously."That'll suffice I guess but if Alya wasn't here I was hoping for more."
The blush thickened and her face was practically aflame. Biting her lip, she gently shut the hatch door, meeting his green eyes that seemed to glow."She's pretty asleep, we have a minute,"
The cat gulped, having expected to crack a witty joke, get a sweet kiss, tell her he loved her and Hugo then bid them goodnight. Sweetly embracing her, his mind drifted back to the night he realized she was more than just his friend. When he knew he loved her. And the night their son was conceived.
Feeling a soft June breeze pass by, Marinette stared out at the setting sun. Twilight drifted in and stars began to twinkle. Without having to hear a single word, a smile passed her face." Evening Chat," she greeted, able to sense the hero beside her.
Chat smiled, always captivated by her deep blue eyes." Princess," he said with a slight bow to his head." How has your day been?" he asked, though could clearly remember her and the other girls giggling over something as he left the building to head to a fencing lesson.
"Good, and you?" she asked, looking over at him, equally as entranced by his green eyes. She hated the fact every time she looked into them, she wanted to know who lied beneath them. The emerald of them was so familiar.
Chat nodded, though something was tugging at him."Good,"
Marinette frowned, tilting her head to the side."What's wrong kitty?"
He shouldn't have been surprised she sensed something was up. This was Marinette after all. She was one of the most caring people he knew."I was just... thinking."
"What about?"
Meeting her worried gaze, he felt his heart lurch."It's just hard,"
"What?" she questioned, fearful she'd done something wrong.
"Being like this around you," he said, every fiber of his being wanting to scream out to all of Paris who he really was. But of course, he couldn't do that.
Marinette had to turn away. She wanted to grasp his ring and pull it off, left face to face with the real him. But of course, she couldn't do that.
The designer's eyes lit up suddenly and she gasped."I've got it!" she exclaimed, hurrying down into her bedroom, leaving a confused Chat Noir.
"Princess," he called, questioning what she could be thinking." Marinette?" he asked, stepping closer to her hatch door, only stepping back when she pulled herself back up.
"Here," she said, holding out a mask similar o his which she'd received as a party favor at Menon's last birthday party." I know, I still won't see you, but you can at least be more of yourself," she explained as he looked down at the mask.
"Your amazing," he said, not meaning to say it aloud. Marinette fell bright red, stuttering."Do you mind turning around?" he asked.
Marinette nodded her head too quickly, her brain shaking within. The teen turned, mentally yelping when she heard him de-transform." Y-you good?" she asked shakily.
Adrien stared at her through behind. He was relieved that he'd been wearing pajamas before heading over so she wouldn't recognize him by his clothes. The black mask covered half his face and he couldn't feel his heart racing more being like this."Ya, I'm good," he said, cheeks burning a bright red as she turned to him. He stared down into her bluebell eyes in the awkward silence surrounding them. Raising a hand to her cheek, he felt her warmed cheek beneath his touch. Something about her alluded him and he couldn't help but feel something more for her than just friendship. Leaning his head closer to hers, he felt something pulling him."Marinette,"
"Yes?" she asked through a squeak, burning under his gentle.
"Can I?" he asked, their lips inches away.
Through a blink, Marinette understood what he met but gave no answer. Instead, she pushed her own face an inch or so closer. Their lips making contact both were certain of one thing.
They loved eachother.
