Percy:
Percy spit a mouthful of seawater at Jason. "If you keep talking, I will drown you," He threatened, glaring at his friend.
"What?" Jason shied away from Percy, hiding behind Hazel. "It's true. This isn't helping us against Gaea at all. No offense, but we should be on the Argo II going to Athens."
Suddenly, Annabeth lost control. "Jason, I suggest you either shut up or get off this island before I stab you." She held up her knife. "I'm not afraid to do it." Leo, sensing the danger, jumped between the demigods. "Woah woah woah, let's all just calm down now, and hopefully not kill anyone?"
"Leo's right." Hazel held up her hands, signaling for peace. "Jason, if you're not going to help, leave. Otherwise, we have to save this... goat?"
"Satyr." Annabeth took a deep breath. "Ok." She got down on hers knees and began to draw something on the white, beach sand. She stepped back, revealing a makeshift map of the island. "This is the area where we think Grover is now." She circled a little corner of forest, tucked on the edge of a cliff. "Since we don't know what monsters are waiting there or what they're doing, we're going to split up and surround the area."
She looked up and starting pointing at the demigods. "Leo, you're coming in from the north. Hazel, you're coming from the west and Jason..." She glared at him. "Come in from the east."
"Percy and I will attack from the south, closest to the sea. No one should start a fight before we all get there, except for desperate situations. Got it?" They nodded.
"Alright." Percy looked up at the sun, which was almost right above them. They were running out of time. "We need to hurry, so move fast. And... don't die I guess?" Hazel rolled her eyes. "Very inspirational."
Percy grinned. "I know."
The demigods split up, running through the jungle and across beaches, leaping over streams and boulders. Annabeth and Percy held hands as they navigated the island. As he sprinted down the beach, Percy thought about Grover. Why was he in Acresia? Was he still safe? And... would they be able to save him?
These thoughts weren't helping his nerves. Percy looked around for a way, any way, to make it to the forest faster. "Let's cut through the ocean!" He called to Annabeth.
They splashed into the sea, and Percy propelled them through the water. Through seaweed and schools of fish, they burst out of the waves and were standing, in about 2 seconds, on piles of rocks and boulders, staring up at a sheer cliff face.
"You want me to go first?" Annabeth asked, already positioning herself to ascend the rock wall. Percy grinned. "Just like old times. Scaling cliffs, saving Grover, brings me back to the good old days." Annabeth laughed, and the demigods began to climb.
Cold gusts of wind thundered against the white rock, threatening to toss them off onto the jagged boulders beneath them. Copying Annabeth's handholds, Percy carefully followed her up the wall. Rock climbing had never been Percy's thing. He preferred to stay on the ground, closer to sea level. Get it?
He finally pulled himself over the sharp edge and rolled onto the grass. Before he knew it though, Annabeth was grabbing his hand and yanking him behind a bush. "Seaweed Brain! Look!"
Percy glanced up to see one of the most terrible scenes he'd ever witnessed.
Grover was tied up, bound and strapped to a stake, in the middle of the forest clearing. Fire raged around him, scarlet tendrils winding themselves up into the blue, cloudless sky. And sitting next to the wall of smoke and flames, a disgusting smile on his face, was a speared, scaly titan.
Grover's voice suddenly choked out, "Percy! Annabeth! It's Enchiladas!"
Enchiladas? Enchiladas?
Enceladus.
Bane of Athena.
NO. Percy understood immediately, understood what Grover had been warning him about at the end of his vision, understood why Grover was captured and brought here in the first place.
Annabeth.
Enceladus was here for his girlfriend.
"NO!" Riptide burst from his palm before anyone could realize what he was doing. He stepped forward, not even trying to hide his anger, because in that moment, he wanted nothing more than to end Enceladus, to make sure he would never touch Annabeth.
But then Annabeth jumped in front of him, her knife drawn, and it only took a second of eye contact for them to communicate.
No matter how much he wanted to protect her, Annabeth had to be the one to fight Enceladus. Percy would save Grover, despite the fact the rest of the demigods hadn't shown up yet. This was definitely a desperate situation.
It took every ounce of strength he had to turn away from her and run to Grover. He sprinted into the clearing, geysers already erupting at the sources of fire.
As he started to cut away at the ropes binding his friend, his ADHD began to kick in.
Suddenly, he could keep up a running commentary of Annabeth's fight while still avoiding slicing Grover to pieces. He watched out of the corner of his eye as she cut and slashed, simultaneously helping Grover off the metal stake.
"Oh man, we just keep having to save you, huh?" Percy clapped his friend on the back. Grover laughed through a cough. "Only every few years,"
Percy lead him through the fire and over to a clump of trees. He pulled out a square of ambrosia and pushed him to the ground. "Stay here. I'm going to help Annabeth." Leaving Grover in safety, he ran from the forest and into the clearing. He was just pulling up his sword when he heard Leo's voice behind him.
"Mind if we drop in?"
Three demigods dropped from the leaves, weapons drawn. Percy grinned, looking at his friends, and they ran into the battle.
They cut and slashed, fighting the titan, but Annabeth really didn't need them. Percy laughed as he watched everyone else fade from the fight as shock dawned on their faces- Annabeth honestly was one of their best warriors.
After what felt like hours of trying to injure Enceladus, Percy and Annabeth had forged into an unstoppable team. Every ripple of force the titan sent at his girlfriend, Percy just conjured a wave to help her back. He helped her maneuver through the forest, watching as she swung her dagger over and over, until golden ichor was flowing from the titan's body.
Finally, Enceladus was backed up against the edge of the cliff. Looking into her gray eyes, Percy knew what they were going to do. Gathering up all his remaining strength, he built up pressure in the sea below. And suddenly, Annabeth looked her opponent in the eye and smiled.
"Enjoy Tartarus,"
And she struck her dagger a final time, bringing it down on the titan as Percy let the water loose beneath them. Waves crushed the cliff, and they watched as Enceladus fell to the sea in an explosion of light and dust.
