Sam had found Crabtree very quiet over the journey back to the station. His eyes were slightly closed so she put it down to rest over anything else. He wasn't the only one as she was also fighting back tiredness from the case. She would be glad when it was all over and they found the person behind it.
"Here we are." Sam said getting out with Crabtree nearly falling out.
Sam just managed to catch him. Crabtree brushed himself off and then walked into the station quickly.
"Keep up Sam." Crabtree called.
Sam shook her head. Crabtree hated being helped whenever he didn't need it. She then followed him inside. She didn't want to because Myers would just be annoying her as per usual but if it was going to solve the case, then she could deal with it.
Myers was sitting alone in the bullpen when they entered. By the looks of it he was tied to the chair. At least he wasn't gagged! Higgins and Pendrick obviously couldn't deal with him walking around anymore.
"Higgins. What's going on?" Crabtree raised one of his eyebrows.
"It was awful! He wouldn't stop moving and walking around making us nervous." Higgins spoke up for his actions.
"You didn't have to tie me up!" Myers shouted.
"Let him go Henry." Crabtree sighed.
"But George…" Higgins tried to say.
Before he could say anything more however, Sam gave him a look. It meant that he should listen to Crabtree or face the consequences. Higgins sighed loudly as he undid Myers.
"Don't blame me when he annoys you!" Higgins put his hands up.
"Oh I will." Sam nodded with a smile.
Myers shuffled in his chair. Pendrick soon came back with a cup of water and passed it to Myers. Myers turned his head away.
"Fine." Pendrick drew out chairs for all of them to sit on.
Everyone sat down across from Myers staring at him. This didn't unnerve him however. Being a spy you were used to all of this even though it hadn't been used by the station before.
"So Myers. You have information for us." Sam said.
"I might do." Myers shrugged.
"And we apparently can't finish the case without it." Crabtree backed Sam not taking any attention to Myers.
"Maybe. Depends if you will let me tell you." Myers continued to stay quiet.
"Is it a suspect?" Sam asked with Pendrick and Higgins staying quiet trying to look tough.
"Maybe. You need to show me I can trust you first though."
Sam cracked her neck. She was ready for anything Myers would put them through. Murdoch had already told her exactly how tough Myers was to crack and it would take a while before he would tell them anything.
"So we don't trust you and you don't trust us. This is going to be interesting." Pendrick rolled his eyes.
"It's not that I don't trust THEM." Myers nodded.
Pendrick knew what that meant. None of the constabulary trusted him and it seemed neither did any government official. Sam could see the look on his face. It meant that he was about to leave but she needed his help right now.
"Nope he's staying." Sam spoke up for Pendrick.
Myers leaned back in his chair. He crossed his arms and chewed his cheeks. Crabtree and Higgins looked at each other. They didn't exactly want Pendrick here but Sam was senior at the moment. Well until they called Brackenreid about their distaste in this.
"So you're not going to tell us anything?" Sam continued to question.
"Nope. I'm not going to tell you anything." Myers continued to keep his guard up.
"Henry tie him up again." Sam threatened.
Myers went to punch Higgins when Sam told Higgins to do this. Higgins backed off. He then looked to Sam for support in this decision.
"Going to tell us." Sam asked once more.
"Fine but he's got to go." Myers pointed at Pendrick.
Sam looked at James. She really needed the information and this was the only way to get it. Pendrick saw this look and went to leave. Pendrick left the room and Sam turned back to Myers for the information.
"So what are you going to tell us?" Sam breathed out.
"The person you were tracking for the original murder… It's someone who has been tracked by the Candian government for a while now. We believe he may have told state secrets." Myers started to tell.
"Which are?" Crabtree probed.
"Can't tell you. National security." Myers shook his head with his usual disappointment.
Crabtree kissed his teeth. Both Crabtree and Higgins were about to fall asleep if Myers didn't get to the point. Sam seemed to be the only one actually concentrating on what Myers was saying.
"Carry on Myers." Sam told him.
"Well that man seems to have helpers across the country. One of these were at the building when Detective Murdoch was shot." Myers treaded carefully.
Sam shuffled a little bit at this. Crabtree could tell she was getting awkward and carried on for her.
"So you're saying we're after quite a few men. One for the murder which you're also after and the men who helped him?" Crabtree summed up.
"Yes. In a nutshell." Myers made a compromise.
"Why couldn't James listen to that?" Sam spoke up for her friend.
"I don't trust him. He could be friends of the men or something. He made a rocket that nearly blew us up!" Myers shuddered.
Sam looked at the other two for an answer to this. They both shook their heads, they would have to tell her later. Higgins went to go and get Pendrick back.
"So are we going to work together well?" Crabtree asked Myers with a stern look.
"We'll have to see, won't we." Myers stood.
"Where do you think you're going?" Sam asked, chuckling.
"I need to inform my superiors about what's going on. I won't take long, but don't wait up." Myers got his hat and coat. He then bowed and then left.
Pendrick entered the room again and saw Myers going. He tutted and then walked back to the main group.
"So that didn't last long!" Pendrick smirked.
"But it was important. We now have a motive and possible suspects." Higgins put his hands together.
"Not exactly." Sam looked sorry about what she had said.
"What do you mean?"
"Yes we have a motive but we still don't know if we have the right people." Sam shrugged.
"You mean we have to go down to the morgue?!" Higgins moaned.
"Something wrong with that?" Sam kept back laughter.
Higgins shuffled his shoulders. He then followed the others down to the morgue to see if Dr James had found anything. Hopefully she had found some fingerprints on the weapon they had found nearby.
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Sam was the first to walk into the morgue. She didn't feel very comfortable in here but as long as she got evidence and could quickly go back to the office then it didn't matter. Higgins felt the same and usually didn't have to go down there very often.
"Dr James." Sam nodded as she walked in.
"Samantha. What can I do for you?" Dr James met her wiping her hands on a towel.
"Have you checked out the weapon for fingerprints yet?" Sam asked, looking around trying not to focus on blood on the floor.
Dr James smiled a bit when Sam's eyes wouldn't focus on something. Her mother was a doctor and Detective Murdoch dealt with bodies everyday and yet Sam was still a little squeamish!
"Yes I do. Are you okay?" Dr James asked, a little concerned.
"Yep. Just keeping back my lunch." Sam swallowed.
Dr James showed Sam over to where the evidence was being kept. The others soon followed with Higgins mostly leaning on Crabtree. Pendrick left the two officers to look after each other and joined Sam to see what evidence they could find.
"You know Myers came down here earlier. When you guys were out." Dr James admitted.
"He what?!" Everyone said in unison.
"Yeah, he wanted to make sure everything was going right and that he had the right guy for both the murder and the state secrets." Dr James calms everyone down.
"Alright that makes sense I guess." Sam rolled her shoulders back.
"Here. This is the guy that everyone is after. Though we still don't have the guy who…. You knew shot detective Murdoch."
"It's fine." Sam waved sensing the tension and awkwardness in Dr James' voice.
Sam took the picture of the guy from Dr James. She raised an eyebrow at the photo. Not your typical criminal but anyone could commit crime these days!
"Right thanks. Let's get back to work. Make sure we've got everything on the case we can." Sam told the team.
Dr James smiled as the team left with Higgins going first. She could tell he was very relieved to get out of the morgue. She then got back to work making sure she went over everything to help the case along.
