A/N: Here is the epilogue as promised...

Two months later…

Two long months, numerous sessions with Sweets, a consultation with his neurologist, several aptitude tests and one marksmanship recertification later, Seeley Booth was certified fit to resume active duty with the FBI.

The road to recovery had taken longer than he had anticipated but he hadn't given up. A few days after he had regained his memories of Bones, just like after his brain tumour, she had noticed that there were still some issues with his memory. Mainly that there were a couple of large gaps that hadn't returned with the rest. So, with some trepidation and reluctance, he had embarked on several sessions of hypnotherapy with Sweets. Much to Booth's surprise, it had worked and now, if there were any gaps in his memory, neither he nor Brennan were aware of them. He had proved he was still capable of his job by scoring above the 90th percentile in his aptitude tests and his marksmanship recertification had been perfect.

When he had been to see Deputy Director Stark to get his badge and gun back, he asked him for a favour before starting back at work that Stark had been more than happy to grant him. Now just one phone call to Cam before he could call Bones with the good news.

He made the call to Camille before dialling Bones' number.

"Hey Bones!" He said when she answered on the first ring.

"Booth, what happened? Did you pass?" Booth could tell by her impatient tone that she had been waiting for him to call.

"Yep! Seeley Booth is back in the game, Baby!"

He could hear Bones chuckling on the other end of the phone. "I had every confidence in you Booth."

"I know. That's why you love me, right?"

Bones laughed again "It's one of the reasons." She said sweetly.

Unable to stop the huge grin that spread across his face, he said "D'you feel like meeting me for lunch?"

"Yes. Are you heading there now?"

"Yep, See you there. I love you Bones."

"I love you too Booth."

When Brennan walked into the diner, she was briefly reminded of two previous occasions of meeting him here while he was still suffering with amnesia. All the tables were full, so he was sitting at the counter like one of those occasions. However, unlike that occasion, he was sitting alone and not chatting with an attractive female colleague.

Brennan slid on the stool next to him and when he turned to look at her, she kissed him. She didn't normally show so much affection in public, but since his recovery from his head injury, she has found that she no longer wants to waste any opportunity to show him how she feels. "Hi." She said, smiling.

"Hi Bones! How was your morning?"

"Unproductive. I found I was unable to concentrate until I knew of the outcome of your tests."

Booth smiled, took a sip of his coffee then reached inside his jacket pocket. "I have a surprise for you." He said as he placed the paper wallet in front of her.

Brennan looked at what he had placed on the counter and saw that it was three airline tickets to Florida. "What's this, Booth?"

Booth raised an eyebrow but before he could point out the obvious, she said "I can see they are airline tickets to Florida, but why?"

"I was thinking that the only vacation we have ever taken together was when we went on honeymoon and we've never had a vacation with Christine. I know it's not as exotic as the places you're used to visiting, but one of my hockey buddies has got a vacation home down in Florida and he's letting us have it for the week. It's right by the beach so all we have to do all week is just relax. Whaddya say?"

"Booth, it sounds nice, but I can't just leave work for a week and you've only just been certified fit for active field duty. I thought you would want to get straight back to work."

"I called Cam and asked if she could manage without you for a week, which she said she can, and Stark was happy to allow me to take a week of leave before starting back. All we have to do is go home and pack. Our flight leaves this evening." He said with a grin.

Brennan was mildly irritated that he had gone behind her back to arrange this, but she had to admit, a week's vacation with just the three of them as a family was very appealing.

Booth's confidence in his plan wavered when Bones remained silent. "I thought it would be good for us, y'know? Spend some time together, relaxing and I think that Christine will love the beach."

Brennan put her hand on his "Booth, stop. I think it's a fantastic idea." She said with a smile.

"Great!" Booth slid off his stool and grabbed her hand. "Let's go Bones! We've got packing to do!"

Brennan laughed at his enthusiasm as she allowed him to pull her towards the door. Once they were outside, Brennan stopped suddenly. "Wait, Booth. Did you get your car back?"

"No, not yet. I didn't see the point when I wouldn't be using it for a week. Why?"

"Because I don't think our suitcases will fit in my car. Not with Christine's stroller."

"So we'll get a cab instead. Don't worry about it, Bones! Come on let's go." He said while beginning to pull her in the direction of her car.

She tugged on his arm to stop him again "Booth wait."

Booth stopped and looked at her impatiently raising an eyebrow. "What Bones! We've got to pack!" He was excited about their vacation and he couldn't understand why she kept stopping them from getting home to pack.

Brennan grinned. She could feel his excitement and couldn't help but tease him. She moved to stand in front of him and placed her hands on his biceps. She said, "I love you Booth." Before reaching up to put her hand on the back of his neck and pulling him towards her to kiss him.

Booth broke the kiss before it could get too heated. There would be plenty of time for that this week. "I love you too, Bones." He said with a grin. "Not that I mind, but what was that for?"

"I was just thinking of how happy I am that I have got you back."

"I'm happy you got me back too."

"I also find it amusing to delay you when you are in a hurry." She said with a chuckle

Booth laughed once, not sure whether to be amused or irritated before tugging on her hand again to haul them down the street. Brennan fell into step beside him and smiled again as she considered how despite how bleak their situation had appeared, they had come through it together and she was here by his side once again, where she intended to stay for those 30, 40 or 50 years he had promised her.
