Forgotten
Chapter 26: Back To (Relative) Normal
Team Phantom then went on the capture the remaining ghosts causing trouble. Thankfully, once the minor, almost generic ghosts realized that Danny had his memory back and he was back to fighting shape, they panicked.
They even fled since despite better numbers and still wanting to cause more chaos, they didn't want to mess with Danny Phantom, especially since it was clear that he got all his memories back and wasn't pulling back punches.
With the ghosts captures or sent back to the Ghost Zone, Amity Park was safe again, much to the relief of the citizens, who, with the exception of two who claim that Danny phantom is a menace, everyone was happy to have their hero back.
Not as much as those closes to him were.
After that, they went to Fenton Works for two reasons.
The first one was to finally relax after the long, hard day of fighting they had. The second one to examine Danny. They used the Fenton's medical equipment to examine to see if the nanobots would still be a problem or not.
Tucker, being the tech whiz, was the one who oversaw things and was examining Danny with the lab equipment. He was checking the readings while Star, Jazz and Sam waited in concern and impatiently.
Tucker looked over the computer screen, reading the results and found nothing wrong.
It seems that due to both the remote and the machine being destroyed, the nanobots ended up disintegrating due to being inactive and unable to fight off Danny's immune system, which also helped Danny regain the rest of his memory.
Star secretly disagrees. She won't say it, but she thinks it was her confession that jump started Danny's memories of her.
As far as they knew, he was back to normal. There also didn't seem not to be any side effects, which is good.
"That's it, Dude. You are officially nano-free. .."Tucker said, after examining Danny.
"That's good to hear..."Danny said, relieved.
At least now, he doesn't have to worry about a relapse or Vlad trying to fry his brain again.
Once he was off the operating table, Star hugged him.
"I'm so glad that you are back, Danny..."She said.
"Me too..."Danny said.
A light cough was heard, from an annoyed looking Sam Manson.
"If you two are done, mind filling us in on the details..."Sam pointed out.
"Yeah, exactly what happened? How did you get back your memory? And what happened with Vlad?..."Jazz asked.
Danny sighed as he looked at the others.
"It's a long story..."The ghost boy said as he explained what happened with his arch foe.
He explained what happened with Vlad and how he tried to turn him into his mindless save, only for him and Valerie to stop him and destroy his remote.
Once he was done, his friends were disgusted with Vlad but confused with a certain female ghost hunter.
"Not that we're not grateful but why did Valerie even come help?..." Sam asked in a confused and suspicious tone.
"Yeah, she usually tries to waste you..."Tucker said, not getting it.
Danny and Star briefly looked nervous before they sighed, deciding to tell part of the truth.
"Valerie decided to help me because she figured out I was a halfa..."Danny confessed.
"SHE WHAT?!..." Jazz exclaimed in shock and Tucker and Sam were stunned.
Danny nodded and continued.
"Apparently she saw Vlad transforming and since she knew Dani could too... she figured out I had ghost powers too..."Danny said.
"Why didn't you say something?!..."Sam demanded.
"We weren't sure if she suspected who it was..."Star said.
This left a big, gaping question to be asked.
"Does she know who you are?..." Jazz asked in a serious tone.
"I don't know. If she did, she might have said something..."Danny said. "Look, it doesn't matter since we have a truce until Vlad's been taken down..." Danny told them.
"I'm more worried about what happens after that..."Sam said, not trusting this.
Valerie has shown in the past that she'd jump at the first chance to go back to shooting Danny, as soon as she could.
"I know Sam, but it's not like we can do anything since Vlad still has an eye on her..."Danny said.
"Plus, I know Valerie and I know if she still held a grudge, she would have come blasting her way here by now..."Star said.
"True..."Sam admitted. "But this is still serious, we should do something!What do we do if she really does know your identity?..."She said.
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there but for now, we have to be careful and not harass her on this unless we wanna either give her a reason not to trust Phantom or Fenton, or let Vlad know she knows about him..."Danny said seriously.
Sam, Tucker and Jazz didn't like it but they accepted it. Right now, Vlad is the bigger threat then Valerie .
Much bigger.
"Great, this was such a good ending so far…" Sam muttered, still not liking this.
"Well… we can worry about it later, let's just be glad my little brother back to normal..." Jazz said, hugging him.
"Me too..."Danny said, hugging back.
Once he let go, he turned to his best friends and girlfriend and sent them an appreciative smile.
"Thanks guys, for everything...and thanks for saving me from Colette..."He said.
"Any time, dude..." Tucker told him sincerely
Sam nodded.
"Like there was any chance we'd leave you alone with her of all people..." The goth girl said, practically gagging at the thought.
After everything they'd been through, Star's wicked stepsister was the least pleasant thing they dealt with and they fight ghosts!
Seriously, she crossed a line to get what she wanted, not caring about the consequences and she was going to pay for it.
"I'm so glad I got away before she could kiss me..."The ghost boy said with disgust in his voice as they talked about Colette.
Danny sighed as he can still recall the things he did due to his memory lost. How he treated his friends, his sister and his real girlfriend.
It made him hate what he did.
"I still can't believe that I let her trick me like that...and how I treated you guys..."Danny said, feeling guilty.
"It wasn't your fault, Danny. Colette tried to take advantage of your amnesia and make you into something you're not..."Star said, not blaming him for what happened.
"In the end, she failed and that's what matters..."Sam pointed out, relieved.
She was glad that even WITHOUT his memories, Danny wouldn't go for a total brat like Colette.
"Thankfully… I don't even wanna think about what she had planned for me after that..."Danny said.
"Or what other rude things she'd make you say to us or how she planned to turn you into her ideal boyfriend who is also a snob ..." Sam said.
"Don't remind me..."Danny said, still angry and embarrassed over the things that witch made him do today.
He ever thought a normal human would do what she did but from what he sees, she was one ecto-acne breakout from being another Plasmius. His other best friend didn't read the room in time and opened his mouth.
"Just be happy that we managed to fix you before she tricked you into marrying her..."Tucker said, recalling that part of Colette's plot.
Danny shuddered upon hearing that and Star clenched her fists tightly, glaring angrily and a cowering Tucker for opening his big mouth, just after Danny told him to not remind him.
"We're done talking about that..."Danny said, glad that he didn't have to go through THAT kind of nightmare.
It almost made working for Vlad sound appealing.
Keyword: Almost.
"When I get my hands on her!..."Star thought furiously before briefly calming down and turning to her boyfriend.
He was still apologizing to his friends who his behavior today, even when it wasn't his fault.
"Tucker, about...you know...what I said and did...I'm really sorry about that..."Danny said to his best friend, feeling guilty that he told him to get lost or he'd make him.
"Hey man, we're cool. Besides, if you had decked me... it'd be payback for the Tucker Phantom thing..."Tucker joked and Danny chuckled.
Star raised a brow upon hearing that.
"What's the- nevermind. If it's important, I'm sure I'll learn about it soon..." The blonde girl said.
"Let's just say Tucker let his jealousy do something Colette would've done..." Sam added.
Hearing her stepsisters name made Star angry again.
"I swear, she's a total creep!..."Star said, still furious at her stepsister's attempts and lies.
"I'll say, she definitely comes off as one. She was even so desperate to keep me from dumping her that she actually almost got to make me think that I proposed to her! Eww! .."Danny said in disgust, glad that he listened to his instincts in the end.
"We're still taking her down for this, right?..."Sam asked, still wanting to make that brat pay and Star nodded.
They all made a pact to get back at Colette and teach her a lesson, something they were all looking forward to her suffering.
"We will...but first..."Star paused as she grabbed Danny's arm. "I'd like to spend some time with my boyfriend..."She said happily.
Sam and Tucker looked at each other, annoyed and with mild envy, while Jazz smiled.
She was just happy to see her little brother back to normal and with a girl who genuinely loves and cares for him.
"Do they gotta?..." Sam asked.
"Yes, they do..." Jazz told her seriously.
"Yes, we do..." Star insisted as she grabbed Danny's arm again.
"Have fun you two..." Jazz joked, watching the two walk off together
Jazz smiled at the sweet sight.
After everything they've been through today, those two deserved it. Between Vlad's plot, Colette's manipulations and a small army of ghosts to fight, those two definitely earned a break.
"Can't believe I miss almost getting pummeled by ghosts..."Sam said.
"Ignoring that, I'm just happy my brother's back to normal..."Jazz said, still smiling.
Outside
Danny and Star walked out of Fenton Works together, holding onto each other and not planning to let go anytime soon.
"Finally, back to normal..."Star said, still holding his arm.
"I'll say..."Danny said as he smiled down at Star as the blonde leaned over, resting her head on his arm.
This felt far more comfortable than anything else he went through today. Something he really needed right now.
"Shall we, Danny-Boo?..."Star asked with a coo.
"We shall, my Starlight..."Danny cooed back.
The two walked off together, happy and very much in love.
Later
With the Lovebirds
It was nighttime now and Danny and Star flew through the sky together. They had gone to their favorite spots such as The Nasty Burger, The Observatory, walked through the now ghost-free park and were now enjoying the cool air as they were holding onto each other as they floated through the night sky.
"This is great, huh Starlight..."Danny said softly to her.
"Yeah..."Star said, hanging onto him.
She wasn't really talking about the flight, but holding onto Danny. She had been so scared about losing him but now now she felt calm.
It really was a relief after this stressful day like today.
"Oh, Danny..."Star thought as she snuggled into him.
Danny smiled at this and held her closer as he continued his flight.
After another half hour of flying, they realized that it was getting late. Danny flew down towards Star's house, letting her down gently.
He changed into human form once he was sure no one was looking and sighed in relief before he walked his lady to the door.
"Come on in, I have something for you..."Star said, inviting him inside.
"You sure?..." Danny asked.
"Absolutely..." Star said
Danny smiled and nodded, before following her inside.
They were quiet as it was too late for a guest but Star is not worried. Her dad was busy looking at papers in his office, Georgia was currently cleaning in the kitchen and Star still had about half an hour until her curfew, so they were fine.
She brought Danny to her bedroom, she opened her closet and peeked inside, grabbing something.
"I've got a surprise for you..."Star said as she brought out her purse.
"I think I've had enough surprises today..."Danny said.
"It's something you won't forget..."Star said.
"I hope so. I don't want to risk forgetting how to use the bathroom either..."Danny joked.
Star giggled playfully, glad he's back to taking things the way he does. She didn't want him to lose his sense of humor.
"Trust me, it's something you're going to like..."Star said.
"Is Colette moving back to France..."Danny half-joked.
"If only..." Star giggled before grabbing something.
Danny wondered what she had.
"I wanted to give you this tomorrow, but after everything that's happened...here..."Star then pulled out a present that had been in her purse.
It was an medium size gift box that was wrapped elegantly with blue wrapping paper and a red bow.
"You got me a present..."Danny said in surprise.
"Yeah, of course I did..."Star said.
Danny looked at the present in his hands then back to Star. The small grin she had on her face made her the boy feel guilty for everything he said at the football field and how he acted.
"Star, I- I don't know what to say..."Danny said, looking down.
"You don't have to say anything, just open it..."Star said, still smiling.
"But I...and what I said...and...how I treated you. I still feel terrible..."Danny said, feeling like dirt.
He shouldn't have yelled at her like that and he knew it. While he is relieved she that forgives him, he still felt bad.
His girlfriend just shook her head with a smile.
"It's fine, I know you've been busy this week dealing with Vlad, I shouldn't have lost my temper like that. I should have waited. Besides, I already got my gift when you said how you feel about me..."Star said as she kissed him on the cheek, just happy to have her Danny-Boo again.
Danny smiled but he still felt guilty about what he said earlier, along with forgetting about this whole thing.
He sighed.
"I'm sorry that I forgot about our quarterversaey, Star. I shouldn't have said that other stuff earlier, about going back to the popular kids. That was a low blow..."Danny said in a guilty tone.
Star waved it off.
She should have just talked to him and explained that she wanted to spend time together instead of snapping at him at him over something he didn't know about. If she had, then maybe she'd have been at his side in the nurses office instead of Colette and things wouldn't have gone this way.
"Forget it, it was stupid to get mad at you over something I didn't even know existed until a few days ago..."Star said, not wanting him to feel upset about this.
Danny, on the other hand, looked like he needed to say something. Something important.
"No, it wasn't stupid..."He said.
Star was surprised.
"But the quarterversary-..."She was cut off by Danny's words.
"It wasn't stupid, Star. It was actually pretty sweet that you wanted to celebrate and I'm sorry that I yelled at you earlier. Once again, I didn't mean what I said about you going back to the A-Listers..."Danny said seriously.
"I know you didn't mean that Danny. And I didn't mean what I said about you being a jerk and stuff. I was just angry. We were both angry..."Star said.
"I still shouldn't have said it. You didn't deserve that..."Danny muttered.
He felt lousy about the entire thing.
He still couldn't believe he said all that stuff earlier today and it was before the nanobots. They didn't have time to speak about it, but they both regret what happened then.
Star sighed before she smiled at him. She felt guilty too and hated what happened as much as he did.
"I'm sorry too about that stupid fight. Can we forget it ever happened?..."Star asked.
"So you have wished it, so shall it be..."Danny said, with a knowing smile.
"Are you seriously quoting Desiree, of all people?..."Star asked in amusement now.
"Well, in the situation, I think it fit..."Danny shrugged.
The two teens laughed and felt better. They smiled at each other as Danny placed his hand on hers and sent her a loving look.
Danny looked down at the present then to Star, eager to see what was inside.
It was really sweet that she got him a present. He was really curious about what was inside of it but he didn't think it would be right to just open it here while not getting Star anything.
"She really is the best but I gotta do something to make up for what I did..."The ghost boy thought until an idea came to him.
"So..." Star prompted. "Are you going to open your present?..."She asked, eager to see the look on his face.
To her surprise, he shook his head.
"I will...after I give you YOUR present tomorrow..."He declared.
After everything she's done, Star deserved to get something amazing and to be treated like a queen by him.
Star's eyes widened upon hearing what he said.
"Did he say what I think he did?..."She thought, surprised.
She felt her her heart skipping a beat and her cheeks get warmer.
"You mean..."
"Star Strong, get ready for the best quarterverserary gift tomorrow..."Danny said.
She only blinked in response.
"Seriously, after everything we went through?..."Star asked in disbelief.
Danny nodded.
"Yeah. After everything, we deserve some time to ourselves and each other after a day like today..."Danny said earnestly. "Besides, do I really need an excuse to get my girlfriend something nice for her?..."He added sweetly.
Okay, that did it. Star squealed and pounced him, making them land on the ground.
"Whoa!..."Danny said as Star held onto him in a tight grip, not that he was complaining.
Especially after she began kissing him all over his face and his lips with such vigor.
After a moment, she pulled away, happy but also a little guilty. While she was happy to have Danny back and with him admitting his love for her, but she didn't want Danny to do something just to make up for what happened.
"You know, you don't have to do this..."Star said as she cupped his face.
"I know but I want to..." Danny said, meaning it as he did the same.
Star smiled widely upon hearing that.
"Well, I want to do this even more…"She said happily.
Star kissed Danny again, who was quick to return it, putting his arms around her waist and holding her tight. They did so for an entire minute and compared to the kiss they had once he got his memories back, this felt even better.
They needed this.
Star only paused for a moment, just to ask one important question.
"Wait, what about the ghosts and anything else we might have overlooked?..."She asked.
"Relax, Jazz, Sam and Tuck can hold down the fort for a few hours. Plus, I don't feel any different and I can stick around a bit longer in case Vlad pulls something, but I doubt he has any more tricks up his sleeve for now..."Danny said after he was out of his daze.
That seemed to calm down Star, as she smiled before she went back to kissing him.
He kissed her back.
The two teens continued to kiss and hold onto each other. It seems that the the long gap in their passion needed some completion as they stopped to breathe only to get back into it and keep lip-locking to their hearts' content.
Later
After 10 minutes of making out, Danny soon saw the time and realized that he had to get home soon before missing curfew again.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Starlight..."Danny said with a smile.
"Bye, Danny-Boo..."Star said in a loving tone.
So, with one more goodnight kiss, Danny left the Strong house somewhat reluctantly but thankfully was not spotted.
Once he arrived home and avoided being late, he quickly got to work with figuring out what to do to give Star and to make tomorrow perfect and memorable for her.
He needed to think about to what to get for what tomorrow and what else he'd have in store for the girl he loves. He'd do everything to make it up to her and show her just how much he loves her.
"I gotta make tomorrow special but how?..."Danny thought as he tried to brainstorm ideas.
What could he do? Dinner? Movie? It's okay but it's not enough and they wouldn't do anything to really make up for a day like this. No, he needed something better. Plus, he wanted to get her a gift too.
But what?
He thought quickly about what he knew about Star and she loves. He decided to start from there.
"Come on, you have been together for months, there's gotta be something I can do by tomorrow and that I can get her that's really romantic..."The ghost boy thought, trying hard to think of something and pick a gift idea.
After several minutes of thinking, he then realizes something. It would be something she'd enjoy and it was perfect for her.
"Wait...that's it!..."Danny said in excitement as he quickly sped up.
He knew what to do and what yo get for his girlfriend and it was perfect. It was something so her that he knows she'll love and he can get right now.
He quickly got to work as he has much in store for his Starlight. As for what tomorrow entitled, Danny only knew one thing.
It will all be unforgettable!
