"Harvey…"
"Shh. Don't interrupt me. I'm having a serious conversation here," Harvey says in a tone that means business. The same he uses for the office. The whole situation before her makes her almost chuckle, but she hides it behind a smirk as she responds. Really? And how's that going for you?"
"We made a deal." Harvey informs her, smugly as his eyes shift back to the matter at hand - which in this case was Donna's growing belly. "Right Pumpkin?"
The seriousness in his eyes makes Donna let out a little giggle she's been holding back.
"What?" Harvey looks back at her with a furrowed eyebrow.
"Nothing…"
"Donna…"
"Baby clearly agrees, he kicked," she informs him with a smile.
"She did?"
"Yeah. Want to feel?"
Without a beat, she guides his palm to the place she just felt their baby at. A moment passes before Harvey's eyes light up, and next thing she knows, he's prepping kisses all over her belly while muttering, "I love you, baby," between kisses.
Donna's heart flutters at the sight. It's been almost twenty weeks since their lives had changed. Fifteen weeks since they've found out about their new addition. Ever since they've come home from the first appointment, Harvey couldn't resist and started talking with their baby.
A baby.
The thought of having a baby never crossed their minds. Yes, they were at the age where it mattered, but to them it didn't feel like a necessity. At least that's what they've thought until two bright lines appeared on the test one morning and their eyes filled with tears of joy.
They've never thought they would have this, but both of them knew the moment that their lives changed, that it was something they've wanted all along - even if they didn't want to admit it.
So when the doctor confirmed that their little one was healthy as it can be, their ritual started.
Every night, after they've come home and unvined, they would lie in bed and Harvey would whisper to their little one. Just like today. Except for the fact that it was the night before their big ultrasound where they would hopefully find out the sex.
Hence why Harvey's been making a deal for the past hour or so…
"Please, don't be shy, baby," he pleads as his fingers stroke Donna's belly. "Don't be shy tomorrow, and then we'll take you out on the field where Daddy once played. Okay, Pumpkin?"
"You are hopeless!" Donna smiles as her fingers wound up in his hair.
"I just need to find out, Donna!"
"I do, too. But that doesn't mean that he will cooperate with us."
"She better! We made a deal."
"We'll see, Harvey… Now come here and sleep. We've got a big day tomorrow!"
