"Mam please" Ianto said over the phone as he left the office, and made his way to his car"Mam I know she is not Jack" he placed his bag in the trunk "can you not go there, again, please it's been five years" he opened the door of he car and got In "No, mam we could not work through it" he said putting on his sit-belt "Yes I love her" he assured her "love you, see you later" he said and hung up, and started to drive home.
He got home, it was empty, Beth was in London visiting Mike's family. Beth and Ianto met working in Torchwood one, Beth work in the legal department and her and Ianto became good friends. When they meet she engaged with, Mike, a guy working in security also at Torchwood. On the dreadful day Canary Wharf fell, Beth was in Cardiff taking care of her mother who was recovering from a knee surgery, however Mike died that day. She staid with her mother and got depressed, after two years she slowly started to get back on her feet, she got job, but she never had another relationship. When she bump in too Ianto they became even better friends, Ianto moved into her apartment, slowly their relationship progressed into a romantic. Beth new she couldn't replace Jack, and Ianto new he couldn't replace Mike, but eventually they decided to get married partly for companionships although they did love each other. He sighed when he opened the mostly empty fridge so he decided to go to Tescos.
When he was queueing for the self-checkout, he saw a familiar figure in a ww2 coat in the normal queue, he ignored it because he didn't want to talked to his ex. He quickly scanned his items, and walked to the exit hiding his faces. But it didn't work and Jack started to do the same avoiding Ianto, but they bump in to each other.
"Hey " they both of them said awkwardly.
"Hey," Jack laughed uncomfortably "how are you? You look good"
"Good, good" Ianto responded "and you?"
"Fine" Jack said "work has been crazy, with tosh and Owen quitting"
"Yeah I would imagine" said Ianto
"Where are you working now?" Jack asked
"The city archives" responded Ianto "it sounds boring I know but I like it"
"You always loved that sort of thing" Jack laughed
"Yeah" said Ianto not sure of what to say "well got to get going,nice to see you"
"Yeah, you too" Jack said and then softer but ianto herd" I miss you "
"Me too" Ianto said to himself as he walked away
