Chapter Twelve
"You do not seem the understand the seriousness of the situation, I need her gone" he said,
"And I said I could do it…just it will cost more as I will have to do more to make a war heroine disappear" the second man stated,
"And your freedom isn't enough?" the first man snarled,
"You don't seem to understand, if I make her disappear, people will look for her…your son will look for her and my freedom would be for naught, if I have to go into hiding" the second man snarled,
"Fine" The first men relented, "I will arrange a new identity, new documents…a complete blank page…but I want her gone" the first man offered a hand and the two shook.
"Pleasure doing business with you Sir" the second man smiled,
Hermione headed into the office Monday morning to find Harry in her and Draco's office,
"Draco where is she?" she heard Harry demand
"Turn around potter" Draco snarled brining his mug of coffee to this lips,
"What?" Harry said turning as Hermione opened the door
"Harry?" she said,
"I need to speak with you…now" he said,
"Whatever you have to say to me you can say in front of Draco" she said placing her bag on her desk, before moving to Draco's side,
"Hello darling" Draco smiled as she gave him a kiss,
"What do you need Harry" Hermione said perching in the arm of Draco's office chair, Harry stood there mouth open looking from Hermione to Draco…
"Not that I'm not happy for you both, but when the hell did this happen and how did you keep it out of the papers?" he gawped,
"It's fairly new" Hermione blushed, "But that's not why you are here, is it?"
"No" Harry shook his head, "you are in danger" He said, "I have some informants in some not so nice places and have received reports that someone is looking for an unscrupulous person to make you disappear" Harry said
"Who?" Draco demanded. If Harry had thought Draco had anything to do with it his reaction proved he wasn't as Draco protectively put an arm around her.
"We don't know, it seems whoever is at the top of this is asking people to ask people…no one knows who the head is" Harry said, "I want to put you into protection" Harry said,
"No" Hermione said, "I have a life, I'm not hiding away from someone who can't even face me themselves!"
"'Mione," Draco whispered, causing him to look down to him, "Harry is right, you are in danger until we find out who is at the head of this"
"Oh I know who it is" Hermione snarled,
"I agree with you but we need proof" Draco sighed,
"Who?" Harry asked,
"Lucious Malfoy" Draco sighed, "He was pissed that I hired Hermione and he was antagonism when he found out that I was in love with her" he sighed,
"Right, so Hermione I need you to come with me" Harry said,
"I've told you no" Hermione said, "If you want to follow me around fine! But I will not hide away" Hermione said,
"Your Gryffindor bravery will get you killed" Draco said his head falling back against his chair his eyes closed,
"Hermione please, you can stay with Molly"
"No!" both Hermione and Draco said
"It is a safe house" Harry tried,
"Harry, there is no way I can go to the burrow, I know he still lives there and I refuse to be under the same roof as him" Hermione said Draco could feel her trembling,
"What about staying with Ginny and I?"
"Harry, I love you like a brother, but if I had to live with you again, I might just kill you" she smirked,
"There's not horcruxes this time" Harry said,
"She could stay in my pent house" Draco suggested, "Only like four people can get in there since I changed my wards and two of them are in this room and the other two I would trust with my life" Draco said,
"Names" Harry sighed,
"Blaise and Oliver" Hermione sighed seeing that she wasn't getting a say on this
"Oliver Wood?" Harry asked, Hermione nodded,
"Fine, Draco I want to go and look at this place make sure that there are as many wards as you and I can put on it" Harry said,
"I have a meeting in ten minutes, I must attend, if you are in no rush you can wait here" Draco sighed his arm still around Hermione as his free hand ran through his hair.
"Harry, Draco needs protection too" she felt Draco stiffen at her words,
"Why?"
"Hermione" Draco said, "I'm fine"
"No Draco you are not," she said, "His father nearly killed him last week" Hermione said,
"Why didn't you report this?" Harry said,
"Because it wasn't that bad" Draco said, Harry saw the anger rise in his friend, Draco seemed to sense it too, "Ok, yes it was bad, but it's family…"
"That doesn't make it right" Harry said,
"I know…its…old wizarding world" he sighed as Hermione pulled from him and made her way to the coffee machine,
"If you press charges, I can hold him" Harry said,
"I can't Harry, It's old Magic" Draco said, Hermione turned to look at him,
"Your father made you…" he mouth dropped open,
"Yeah" Draco sighed,
"What did I miss?" Harry asked,
"I thought it was illegal, it's similar to an unbreakable vow, but it basically means a child cannot help arrest the parent, some parents used to use it to assault children and they can't do anything about it otherwise the person who broke the vow dies" Hermione said,
"That is barbaric" Harry said,
"Believe me I know" Draco sighed, "Otherwise my mother would have reported him the first time he beat me senseless…I'm lucky though, people have sworn to never defy their parents, like Pansy, she had to love who she was told, Marry who she was told" Draco sighed leaning back in his chair, "Father never believe that I would defy him in that way" he said, reaching for the buzzer,
"Alice can you send Anderson up to me please and cancel all but my first meeting today"
"And mine" Hermione said,
"And Hermione's appointments, If you can pass Hermione's appointments to the office as she needs some time off" he said , he could see the look that she was giving him, but ignored it"
"Harry I need to swing past my flat to pick some things up" Hermione said,
"Hermione give me five minutes and I will go with you" Draco said,
"I'll meet you at the flat" Hermione said walking to her desk,
"Harry give us a minute" Draco said as he stood up, Harry nodded and left the room, "Hermione" he said, she turned on him,
"Draco don't! Because right now I wish I could go back and never have taken this job!" she snapped, he risked moving into her space pulling her to him,
"You don't mean that" he whispered, "I am going to protect you," he whispered,
"I don't want a protector" she snapped, "I want a partner, someone to work through our problems with, not someone who is going to lock me in a tower to keep me safe" she said trying to push him away from her,
"I know…give me a week, I think that if I tell my father that you quit…that I won't see you…he may call the hit off"
"Do you honestly believe he will be 'oh ok Draco I won't kill the woman" she said imitation a dumb Lucious, Draco chuckled,
"Maybe, but I have a job for you while you're in my tower" he said resting his forehead on hers, "There is a library, the floor below the flat, I will extend my wards down there, I want you to find a way for me to break the vow" he said,
"I meant it when I said I would send my father to Azkaban that have you quit us" he said cupping her face and kissing her as the door opened,
"Oh Sorry sir you asked for me" the young man blushed beetroot red, Draco pulled away,
"Yes, Anderson, I need you to go into a meeting for me," Draco moved over to his desk, "All you need to know is in here, I mostly need you to take notes for me" he said, "If they ask why I couldn't attend just say the I have an emergency to deal with" He said handing Anderson the file,
"No problem sir" he said leaving, Draco locked his filing cabinet and putting an arm around Hermione and lead her out of the office to join Harry,
"Ready?" Harry asked taking Hermione's hand as the three disapperated to Hermione's front door.
When they landed, Both Harry and Draco pulled out their wands, the door was open, and someone had kicked it in,
"Hermione stay here" Harry said stepping into the flat "Homenum Revelio!"
