Chapter 13.
Huey's POV
I sit in my office alone regretting my actions from earlier. I don't know why I kissed Kayla. It was definitely a mistake and didn't mean anything but she caught me in a tough moment. My mind was already occupied by a lot of things and my defense was down. There she was, I thought it would stop my confused feelings about a green eye individual but it didn't. Only made me even more stuck.
Loud noises pause my thoughts. Why is it louder than usual? Sure the music is always that volume but it's more than that. I groan and get up from my desk to check out the source that's causing the commotion. There's a crowd in front of the stage where the dj booth is set up. All the people block my view of the entertainment tonight.
"What's everyone so happy about?" I ask some random guy.
"Some girl is up there wildin'. She's really turning up, been up there for a while." I nod and move up further. Weaving through the large crowd of people. I get far enough to see a girl shaking her ass and a bunch of men staring at her. Practically drooling over the female, however I found nothing exciting about a girl putting on a show for all these men. This wasn't a strip club for a reason. Although, there's also other females hyping her up, some dancing off to the side.
I squint in the darkness, her back is turned but her figure looks familiar. The girl turns her head a little, enough that I can see her face. My eyebrows shoot up 'That's not-, Nah that can't be-'
"Jazmine! Go Jazmine!" Hiro booms from his speakers.
The hell is she doing? What got into her? She's got to be off it. Jazmine hops off stage to start dancing on some random dude. 'Oh hell no!' I push through the crowd to get up front not caring who doesn't like it. I snatch Jazmine by her arm away from the guy.
"Ah Huey what the fuck?" We both glare at each other.
"I should ask you the same thing. The fuck are you doing?"
"Aye man are we gonna have a problem here?" The thirsty nigga that was dancing with her tries to look tough but to me looks drunk as hell.
"I'm the owner of this club, so I don't know are we?" I give him a warning look. I didn't like throwing my title around but some people needed to know to stay in their lane. The little man walks away taking the hint. 'Tuh. Could've fit that nigga in my pocket.'
My eyes fall back on Jazmine, "I was having a good time Huey, you're such a party pooper." She slurs. I can smell the alcohol on her breath.
"What are you doing here Jazmine… looking like this?" I examine her outfit choice. It's an extremely short dress, well compared to her other ones. She also had make up on, more than she usually wears.
"Whattt? Don't I look good?" Yeah a little too good.
"Nevermind that. Are you drunk?"
"Maybe." Jazmine giggles. I don't even know why I asked. Clearly.
"You're not here by yourself right? Where are your friends?"
"Hmmm I don't know but-t you could keep me company instead." She winks and pokes my cheek.
I roll my eyes, "Be serious, please."
"Well... the last time I saw them was at the bar..an hour ago… or so"
"An hour?!" They left her alone that long in this state. Unbelievable.
I look around for Cindy and Asia, I spot them in the crowd. I grab Jazmine's hand and pull her over to them.
"Yo Jazzy!" Cindy drags out her words.
"You were killing it up there." Asia comments. The two girls sound almost as drunk as Jazmine, they probably were a bit over being tipsy.
"Thanks besties." Jazmine smiles goofily.
"So y'all just left her alone drunk like this?" I say furiously.
"Calm yo hater ass down."
"Nigga we was watching her." Asia agrees with her blonde friend.
"You two should have never let her get this bad in the first place." I feel like I am talking to children.
"Relax, she's fine." I look at Jazmine as she struggles to put her shoes back on.
"Stupid fucking heels!" I raise a disapproving eyebrow at her friends. She is nowhere near alright.
"Don't act all high and mighty… You part of the reason she was drinking." Me? It shouldn't have anything to do with me. I didn't have time to sit here and figure it out either.
"Whatever, I'm taking her home. I'm telling your boyfriends as soon as I get out of here too."
"Damn, you a snitch! Whatcha' gotta do that for." The girls try to object but I just shrug in response.
I bring Jazmine to her feet, "Come on." I get her to follow me.
"Whereee are we going?"
"Bringing you home."
"Noo, I don't want to go." Jazmine stops in her tracks.
"You can't stay here, you can barely walk."
"I can walk just fine, thank you." I was being generous. It really looked like she couldn't even stand up straight.
"No you can't. Now cut the bullshit and let's go."
"I don't have to listen to you. You're not my father."
I ignore her sassy remark, "Look we could do this the hard way or easy way. Your choice."
"I'm not going so try me." 'Oh?' Hard way it is. Before Jazmine even knows it, I pick her up effortlessly. Throwing her over my shoulder. I ignore her pounds on my back and objections as I walk to the exit. I almost bump into someone... Riley.
"Oh good you're here. Hold it down for a few. I'll be back." I walk past him.
"Heyyy Riley." Jazmine slurs.
"Damn Mariah. You good?"
"She's drunk dumbass." I say frustrated. Riley is going to make this a big deal. Judging by the grin forming on his face here it comes.
"Aye bro I didn't know y'all was a thing or you just like hopping in bed with drunk girls now?" My jaw tightens, I am not going to do anything with Jazmine. Only he could piss me off more.
"Shut the fuck up Riley! Grow up, I wouldn't do that. Mind your business damn... Worry about why your girlfriend is here without you. Drunk." Riley's eyes go wide.
"Aw hell naw!" He takes off and I finally leave out the door.
I get to my car and put Jazmine in the passenger seat then close the door. She pouts and crosses arms. I smirk in triumph and get in the driver seat. I made sure to shoot Caesar a text about what Cindy was up to. They might call it snitching but the girls are in no condition to drive. Caesar also has a right to know. I put my phone back in my pocket and start my car. Then pull off.
Jazmine takes off her shoes then stares out the window the whole ride which was short because I want her home as soon as possible. I open the door and help her out the car. She shivers a little, rubbing her arms. I take off my jacket and drape it over her shoulders.
"Thanks."
I nod, "Think you could walk on your own now?" Jazmine shakes her head and I pick her up bridal style. Her shoes in my other hand.
"Wow. You're so strong Huey." She bats her eyes. I raise an eyebrow at her behavior. 'She is indeed flirty when she was drunk.' I shake my head and bring Jazmine into her building. Up to her floor. I stand at her door realizing there's a slight hold up.
"Where's your key?"
"In my bra. Take it out for me?" She grins suggestively.
I roll my eyes, "Quit playing around."
"You're no fun." Jazmine pokes out her full lower lip and pulls out her key. Handing it to me and I unlock the door. I immediately bring her to her room and sit her on the bed. Then walk to the kitchen and grab her some water.
When I return to Jazmine's room she stands there drunkenly, my jacket on her bed. I pinch the bridge of my nose 'I just sat her down.' I hand her the water and she takes it.
"Don't drink too fast." I warn her and she nods eyeing me. While she's doing that I take off my t-shirt. I had a wife beater on under so I didn't mind letting her sleep in my shirt.
"Here put this on." I hand it to her and she tosses it aside, smirking. My patience was wearing thin. This girl is really acting out tonight but I guess if you want things done you have to do it yourself. I sigh and unzip Jazmine's dress for her, trying to be as quick as possible.
"Oh so this is why you wanted to bring me home." Jazmine giggles. I ignore as she steps out, her dress still giggling.
"Couldn't wait to get your hands on me." My mouth opens slightly 'Lord what does she have on?' I instead focus on her big green eyes.
"Heyyy how did you get so built?" Jazmine squeezes my muscles. I shake my head and push her hair out of her face behind her shoulders. I keep my hands on her lower back to keep her steady, she is kind of swaying side to side. Next thing I know her hands are around my neck and she kisses me. I pull away instantly.
"Jaz no. You're drunk." I would never take advantage of a drunk woman, especially an intoxicated Jazmine.
"So?"
"So that means we're not doing this right now." I make it clearer this time.
"Why don't you want me?" She asks out of nowhere. I am honestly caught off guard by her question.
"We'll talk about this another time. When you're sober."
"Fine… Fine! Just reject me like last time. I'm used to always being let down by everyone.. By Cairo." Her eyes well up with tears, she is becoming emotional. So that's who this is about. My jaw clenches from just the mention of his name but I would deal with him some other time. I focus back on Jazmine. Her friends said she was drinking because of me but it was more to it than that.
"I never rejected you, Jazmine. You really think that?"
"Yes because my relationships never work... Am I really that unlovable?"
"Of course not."
"Then why does this always happen?" A tear drops from Jazmine's eyes and I wipe it away. Never has this ever happened with anyone else but I hate seeing her cry. I never knew she felt this way.
"Listen. I'm still here." Jazmine looks down as I take her hand in mine and give it an assuring squeeze. Then meets eyes with me. Jazmine wraps her arm around my neck and mine go to her waist. We both lean in and meet in a gentle kiss. I didn't kiss her for anything other than to reassure because I mean it. I will always be there for her if she needs me. We were friends first before everything got complicated. After a few seconds I pull away, she is finally calming down now she needs to rest.
"Come on you need to go to sleep. You're going to have one hell of a hangover tomorrow." Jazmine nods and slips on my shirt then her covers.
"Can you stay, please?" She asks a little above a whisper.
"Huh?" I pretend not to hear. I never spent the night with a female if I wasn't having sex with them. Simply not something I'm comfortable with nor sure I want to get used to.
"I-I don't want to be here alone."
"I'll stay here until you fall asleep but can't promise anything else."
"Okay." She says softly. I take my shoes off and lay on top of Jazmine's covers while she dozes off eventually. I watch her peacefully sleep for a little till I feel myself get tired. I debate staying but decide against it. Probably should get back to the club anyway. Who knows what Riley was getting into. I grab my jacket, making way for the door. I look at Jazmine once more before leaving. On the way out something inside me is nagging me. A feeling in my stomach. That's been there. I just can't seem to shake it off. Almost every time I'm around Jazmine it's there. I honestly don't know what's gotten into me.
