Chapter Twelve
Meanwhile…
The Craftsman…
Amita was working on her computer, both in trying to distract herself of the situation and to find a way to get her husband and brother-in-law back. She wondered who were the ones who took them and why Don, Charlie, and Jack, when there are other agents who were going to testify for the same case.
The last part made Amita, not for the first time; think about the case, all the trafficking victims, and all the people that were found to be involved. For her, it was a horrible case, as she met a couple of the victims and was haunted by the looks on their faces, lacking emotion and empty shells of their former selves.
'Even after all this time of helping the FBI on these cases, I still can't believe the things that people will do to each other.' Amita thought to herself
Even worse, Robin had confided in her about her now former friend being involved in the ring, and Amita's heart just broke for her sister-in-law as she had tried to comfort her at both her loss of a friendship and the betrayal of a fellow lawyer who went against the oath to protect herself from being found out as a client of the men behind the ring.
'When this whole ordeal is over, I think me and Charlie should help the FBI and the Attorney's office come up with a system that takes a better look at the people who looking to work there to avoid this type of situation again.' She thought to herself
Amita was taken out of her thoughts when she got an alert of a new email from an address she didn't recognize and cautiously opened it to make sure it wasn't something sinister or any kind of scam and was surprised from what she saw.
It was some kind of code, similar to what she used when she was held captive for three days by that cult and she immediately realized that it could be a message from Charlie.
She quickly got her phone and dialed Megan that she just got a message from Charlie and she was working on deciphering on it.
'Don't worry Charlie, we are coming to get you, just hold on.'
