Chapter 14
Zoom's POV
I yawned a little, sitting up, and rubbing my eyes. I looked around, before realizing that I had fallen asleep in the infirmary, leaning my head by Taylor's hand. I yawned again, and looked up at the clock. 8:00. OKay, I've only been sleeping for about an hour. That's not bad. When I stood up, I walked out of the room, and decided to take a ride to the diner.
I waved at Sage, before climbing on the Chopper, and driving out. When I made it out to the salt flats, I realized my mistake. It was 8:00 PM, not AM. Whoops. I sighed, but wondered where the team was. They couldn't still be in that zone, could they? I shrugged, and pulled into the parking lot of Zeke's. I climbed off, and carried my helmet inside, running my fingers through my already messed up hair.
I yawned again as I took a seat at the counter, setting my helmet next to me. Grace walked up, and smiled. "Someone looks sleepy." she teased, and I yawned in response, blinking a few times. She smiled, and pat my head, making me frown. "Hey." I whined, and she smiled. "I'll get you your shake in a minute, okay?" Grace asked, and I nodded.
I watched as Grace moved fluently around, getting all the components together for my drink, smiling. She looked really pretty. She glanced back at me, and smiled, and I couldn't help but smile back. She set down a shake in front of me, and we both looked at the door as it dinged open, and a mysterious figure clad all in black and red walked in.. There was a helmet on their head, black jeans, with a black leather jacket with red streaks up the sleeves and a flame on the back. Their skin was tan from what I can see from under their black motorcycling gloves.
I glanced at Grace, who brushed my hair from my forehead, before gently kissing it, and walking over to take their order. I stared at their helmet, black with red flames streaking around it. I looked back at my shake, and took a sip, before twirling the straw around in it. I glanced at my watch as it beeped a code, saying that I was needed back at the hub.
I took another sip of my drink, before pulling out 10 bucks, and slapping it down next to it. I put on my helmet, and ran out to my bike. I glanced at the black and red racing bike that was parked next to mine, before driving off to the hub to meet up with the others.
Once I got back, I took off my helmet, and walked over to where everyone was standing around the Saber. I walked up, but didn't see Vert. "Where's Vert?" I asked, and everyone looked over at me. "We don't know, he wasn't with the Saber." Lani said, looking back at Tezz, Sherman, and Sage, who were all working on pulling up the camera footage.
We all waited, until a holographic screen came up, and Sage made it biggar. "Here it is." she said, pushing play.
All I could see was Vert driving the Saber, before I heard Krytus's voice call out. "Come out and fight sword to sword! So I can see if you're a worthy host." Vert growled, and my thoughts stayed on the host part. What did that mean? The windshield opened, and then we could all see a good look of the fight between Krytus and Vert.
They circled each other at first, before Vert lunged, swinging his sword. Krytus blocked it, and swung. Vert blocked it, before jumping back away out of range. The fight continued, when I saw a crystal appear in Krytus's hand. He shoved it into Vert's chest, before pulling his hand out empty, no exit wound visible. Vert collapsed to the ground, screaming while holding his chest. Krytus smirked, before our leaders' eyes drifted close, and the footage stopped.
"Wow." Spinner said, breaking the silence that had fallen over the hub. "That clears up some things." Lani said soon after. "What was that crystal?" Agura asked, and Sage zoomed in on it just before Krytus had shoved the crystal in. "The crystal contains the soul of Draex'ux. Krytus must have found it from somewhere in one of the Battle Zones. Draex'ux needs a host in order to survive, without a host he'll be permanently destroyed." Sage explained, and we all frowned. "So, how does this crystal work?" Lani asked, and Sage proceeded to explain.
"Once implanted, Draex'ux's soul will slowly spread within his current host's body within a few days. And then, gets stronger causing the host to grow weaker and weaker." I was about to say something about how the host must be Vert, when the alarms blared, and Sage pulled up a camera. "What is it, did the Sark or Vandals get through a portal?" Agura asked, looking at the Blue Sentient. "No… someone is using the race track." Sage said, and on the screen appeared a black and red motorcycle on our track.
