Chapter 26

"You really don't care much about your safety, do you?" Micah questioned but it wasn't really a question, it was more of a statement as they appeared in a dungeon of sorts and when a pair of students walked past, Micah knew they were at Hogwarts.

They hid inside an alcove in the dungeon as Dahlia said quietly. "My family will have hunted all known Death Eaters and hunted more, but there is one Death Eater they wouldn't hurt. Snape. He was my mum's best friend; he is my godfather and he was a spy. They wouldn't hurt him but would have questioned him and I know he hasn't left Hogwarts because Hermione told me in a letter, he was still teaching here this year but as a Defence professor as Dumbledore hired someone else to teach potions but Snape has still kept his potions lab. He was a member of Voldemort's inner circle so if he is still here, he must know something or something happened and I want to know what. Now, if you're going to go on about my safety, you can stay out here."

Dahlia was quick to move and almost smiled when she saw that Micah followed. They walked to Snape's door that wasn't too far away and Dahlia was polite and knocked. "ENTER," they were greeted with the stern voice of Snape.

The two quickly entered and shut the door behind them but they weren't just greeted with the greasy-haired potions bat, but also the blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty of Narcissa Malfoy. The Malfoy matriarch seemed at home in the lab and wasn't dressed as lavishly as she usually was and seemed to be helping Snape make potions. They were as surprised to see her as she was surprised to see Narcissa Malfoy in the castle considering her links with Voldemort, her own husband and her sister being the inner circle members to Voldemort and some of his most loyal followers.

"Miss Lokidottir, what are you doing here?" Snape questioned.

"I'm looking for answers," Dahlia said and approached them, standing on the other side of the table to them while Micah stayed by the door.

Mrs Malfoy seemed like she wanted to say something but restrained herself, so very different from the Mrs Malfoy that Dahlia had met in the past. Mrs Malfoy put down the jar of ingredients she had in hand and touched Snape's arm and gave him a slight nod before she looked between the pair of them. "I'll leave you to talk," Mrs Malfoy said and left the room, walking towards the door which led to Snape's private chambers.

"Since when did Dumbledore allow guests of that nature in the school?" Dahlia asked once Mrs Malfoy was out of sight.

"Possibly around the time certain miscreants believed they could pop into the school without invitation," Snape said continuing to make his potion while barely glancing her way.

"True," she smirked at being called a miscreant. "But let's be honest, Dumbledore hasn't had full control of this school for a while now and he has even less control at the Ministry."

Snape finally put down the test tube he was holding and looked directly at her. "What exactly do you want?"

"Answers, like I said," Dahlia said bluntly. "Let's start off with, why are you still here? I gave you a potion that would allow the Dark Mark not to take a hold on you, so you could leave and live your life. You don't want to teach spoiled, ungrateful kids, so why are you still here?"

"I have been part of this war for more than half of my life, even before that as a child we were all a part of it. Running away isn't so easy, and I have responsibilities here."

"What responsibilities?" she asked with a shrug as he had no family. "You don't owe Dumbledore anything if that's what you mean."

"Dumbledore does not have my loyalty but unlike what you may believe, I do happen to have another godchild who is in need of protection while you are surrounded by gods and an army of the dead."

Dahlia tried not to smile but it was clear she was trying to hide it. "I think that's the first time you've actually acknowledged me as your goddaughter."

Snape immediately looked away from her, his attention going back to potion-making as if he acknowledged her as such by accident.

"So, Draco's in trouble then," Dahlia said and sat on a stool facing him. "I take it that's why Mrs Malfoy is here. I have only just been told what my family has been up to, hunting Death Eaters and killing them. I also know Voldemort isn't on earth and has made some allies and his inner circle are with him. You're not, so something happened…did you take the potion? If so, I can make you the one to get rid of the Dark Mark".

"I don't want to get rid of it. I accepted it, it is my burden to live with," Snape said. "You did enough by giving me the potion to take its power away."

"No, it's not enough. You shouldn't have to live with a reminder on your arm for the rest of your life. The offer is always there. Did you take the other potion to help with the cruciatus curse?"

"No," he said after a moment of hesitation. "I gave it to Draco".

"What? Why would you do that? It's not like he-" Dahlia started then silenced herself when she put the pieces together and knew what had happened. She warned Malfoy that children as young as them became Death Eaters in the last war, many of them forced by their families who were already devoted to the cause. "They wanted Malfoy to take to mark. Has he?"

"No," Snape said and glanced her way. "I knew they had made the decision, his mother came to me, asked me to help keep him safe. I swore the day I became his godfather I would keep him safe and I did".

"And Mr Malfoy, where's he? Did he try to force Draco? He's his son, he should have been protecting him…Professor, I know my dad or sister came to speak to you to find out what happened. Voldemort has allied himself with people not from this world. One of them is a woman who has been trying to kill members of my family since the birth of my siblings and she has a grudge that is almost 2000 years old against my father. They've also allied themselves with a warlord from a dead world and he has spent years travelling from world to world and killing half the population of every world but he is fully capable of destroying them completely."

This seemed to attract his attention as Snape now looked up attentively.

"I didn't think they would tell you that. I need to know what happened; I need to know how Voldemort got recruited."

"Ask your father, I told him".

"Well, he's trying his hardest not to get me involved right now. I've come into some new powers recently and he would prefer me to focus on that but I need to know. I've been lied to by so many people, some of them for their own selfish gain and others in their misguided attempt to protect me but I'm not a child. Please, just be honest with me."

Snape seemed to think on it for a moment before he took the potion he was working on off of the Bunsen burner and took a seat in the stool opposite her, clasping his hands together as he sat. She straightened up too, wanting to look serious and not the teenager he knew she truly was.

"If your father finds out I told you-"

"He won't do anything," she interrupted. "You were mum's best friend, that's basically protection from almost everything. If my dad asks how I found out what you're going to tell me, I'll say I tricked it out of you. I am the trickster's daughter after all…so, what happened?"

"When it concerns Draco and his mother, they are of no concern to you so I won't go into detail. He was going to be forced into joining and his mother came to me for help, we have been friends for many years, so I helped both of them escape Lucius' control. They tried to harm Draco, as I knew they would, so I made sure to give him the potion you supplied me before I managed to get both him and his mother to safety and before anyone even knew I was involved. They remained hidden and I was suspected of helping them but no one could prove anything. Almost a month ago, the inner circle was meeting when a woman appeared. She was no ordinary woman. She had magic and we believed she was a descendent of the giants but she was so much more."

Angrboda Dahlia thought as she gave a small nod of understanding. "I know who you're talking about".

"She said she knew you and your family. She said she knew of the prophecy, that you and the Dark Lord are destined to be each other's doom, that one shall kill the other. She offered an alliance of not just magic on earth but magic of the other worlds and that with the alliance, they could wipe out everyone and start again. If he agreed to the alliance, his reward would be the complete annihilation of everyone on earth, except those of magical descent."

"An all-magical world, just like Voldemort wants," Dahlia said. "Everyone will be Pure-blood then, no one will ever be born of Muggles because there will be none. What happened then?"

"The Dark Lord agreed but before she would say anything more about the matter or about who else was joining their alliances, she wanted to know who was his most trusted and loyal and would join them. The inner circle was chosen but she performed an enchantment to show our true loyalties. I barely escaped with my life. The others have gone, the woman said that staying here on earth was too much of a risk so they left with her to prepare for the true war to begin."

"But their kids, some of the Death Eaters have kids here. What about them?"

"They don't care. The woman said that in order to gain the power they desired, in order to win the war, they would truly have to sacrifice all that they know and love. Their homes, their families, their lives, even their children. They were all willing to give them up, sacrifice them to show their loyalty and to win the war if they had to."

"This is insane," Dahlia said as she stood and ran a hand through her hair, angered that they were willing to sacrifice their children. She knew the inner circle of the Death Eaters were dark, she knew they were the most loyal but to be willing to sacrifice their children, to leave them behind was unimaginable when most of them claimed they were doing what they do for their future.

"I told this to your father and sister. They questioned if the children know anything but I have spoken with them, all they know is that their fathers have vanished and they know it is to do with the war and they are unlikely to see them anytime soon, if ever again."

"Does Dumbledore know? The Avengers? The Ministry?" she questioned.

"Yes. I have informed Dumbledore and he informed the Avengers and the Ministry. They are all still on guard because of the remaining Death Eaters but it seems most have been quickly taken care of by your family. Your father said it was wise to remain on guard," Snape said as he knew it was best to inform those fighting for the light, no matter their position as they would notice the disappearance of people and still needed to remain on guard, especially if it would soon involve the alien presence in the war.

"He's right, you have to be careful, especially you. Voldemort knows you betrayed him and you took Malfoy and his mother and are keeping them safe. I'd hate to think about what they would do to you after all these years of deceit and…and…" Dahlia said but began to feel dizzy. She went to grab the table but a few jars of various ingredients were pushed off of the table and fell to the floor, shattering.

"Dahlia!" Micah said and moved quickly away from the door where he stood.

"Severus," Mrs Malfoy said as she heard the glass smashing and walked back into the room.

Dahlia fell to the ground and kneeled. She looked to her hands as they began to glow. "Micah," she said almost in fear.

Micah saw what she was worried about and turned his attention to Snape and Mrs Malfoy. "Get back," he said and practically pushed them back.

"What's happening?" Snape asked with urgency.

"She's just become a Goddess; this is a sign of her powers and she doesn't have full control. This is the first day in weeks that she has left her room, her father doesn't even know we're here," Micah said then turned his full attention to Dahlia.

"Don't," Dahlia practically sneered as Micah kneeled close to her.

"Dahlia, you can control this. You don't have to hurt anyone".

"This is different…I can't stop it…blood…children…blood," Dahlia said as if she was in some sort of haze.

Flashes of blood, students' eyes frozen as their bodies were on the floor of Hogsmeade, the Halloween decorations burning, buildings crumbling. Familiar friends, faces, and even the Avengers' Tony Stark, dead with his watch Repulsor not even drawn, his death coming quick before he could ever prepare himself. Amongst the bodies of the dead, she noticed a few dark figures who had fallen, whose arms bore the mark of the skull with a snake coming from its mouth. Death Eaters.

Micah reached out for her, grabbed her hands as she tried to fight against him. "No, no, no."

"Dahlia, I trust you," he said holding her wrists tightly. "Breathe, just breathe. Focus on the voices, focus on one voice".

"They're coming...blood…so much blood," Dahlia said then froze. Like coming out of the haze, the light from her hands disappeared and she looked directly into his eyes. "I'm okay, I'm back."

"Back from what?" he asked.

"A vision. It was like a vision I get when I focus on the voices, flashes of what happens but I wasn't focused on anyone. It came and I couldn't stop it," she said then looked to Snape and Mrs Malfoy. "Where are the students? The corridors aren't as full as they usually are. Where are they?"

"It's a Hogsmeade weekend," Mrs Malfoy answered as Snape was almost frowning at Dahlia in what some could consider to be concern. "The Avengers have been playing Muggle horror movies on a projector, a different one every day as a countdown to Halloween".

"What?" Dahlia mumbled as she stared at them in horror. "No, no, no, no, no," she said and pushed Micah's hands away and jumped to her feet and ran to the door.

"Dahlia!" Micha exclaimed.

She turned back in the doorway. "They're going to kill them," she said quickly. "I saw it. Death Eaters attacking, they're going to target the students at Hogsmeade, NOW!"

Dahlia ran and the others followed but with her new abilities, she was much faster, even faster than Micah who wasn't too far behind. Along her way, she shouted at Aurors she found patrolling the castle, telling them to follow and that an attack was going to happen. This also attracted some teachers and they all ran to Hogsemeade.

When they arrived at Hogsemeade, Dahlia arrived first and looked around frantically but everyone seemed to be safe, talking, happy and smiling. Decorations for Halloween were being sold as this was the only Hogsmeade weekend before Halloween so the students were busy buying as many sweets as possible, especially since they were watching a movie later.

"Hey, mini-Loki, what you doing here?" she heard the familiar voice of Tony Stark and turned to see him with Bruce.

She walked towards them. "You have to get everyone inside and you need to go too," she said urgently, not wanting to see anyone dead. "Death Eaters are coming; they're targeting the kids."

"What?" Tony questioned already getting his phone out to contact the others. "How do you know?"

"I saw it. I saw the future, or a vision of what could happen anyway, and I saw them coming here and coming to kill the students," she said a little too loudly and began to attract the attention of passers-by and students.

"Dahlia," Micah said as he ran to her.

"I'm not lying," she said shaking her head. "I'm not lying, I promise I'm not lying; we have to get them out of here."

"I believe you," Micah said with a nod. "I need my knife and gun though. What happened when you changed my appearance?"

Without even a swipe of a hand, purple light shimmered over the both of them and he changed him back to his normal clothes, along with his knife and gun. Dahlia was back in her dress and she deeply regretted not bringing her sword now.

"DRACO!" Mrs Malfoy practically shouted as she ran into the village and looked for her son.

"There's no one here," Auror Dawlish said as the Aurors walked quickly to her.

"Shut up, Dawlish," Tonks said and stared at Dahlia. "Is this like before?" she questioned knowing Dahlia would know she what was talking about when she knew Mr Weasley was hurt.

"No. I'm the Goddess of Destiny, I see visions of the future and I saw them coming, you have to get everyone away."

"We can't evacuate the village because you think you saw something," Dawlish said.

"Yes, we can," Tonks said. "I believe her, now let's get everyone out." Tonks took out her wand and pointed it towards her throat to magnify her voice. "ALL STUDENTS RETURN TO HOGWARTS IMMEDIATELY, ALL HOGSMEADE RESIDENTS, FOLLOW SUIT. WE ARE EVACUATING THE VILLAGE IMMEDIATELY".

Some people moved immediately while others began to complain and moan. "Why should we listen because she's here?" Pansy Parkinson said.

"Move it now," Snape said as he glared at his snakes and they began to move.

"Dahlia," she heard the familiar voice of Hermione and turned to see her and Neville together. "What's going on?"

"It's too late," Dahlia mumbled.

"What?" Tonks asked, hoping she had heard wrong.

"LOOK OUT!" Dahlia shouted as black whisps appeared in the village, Death Eaters were apparating and immediately firing at them.

Dahlia immediately reached for Hermione and Neville and practically threw them between two shops so they were shielded and Micah did the same thing with her. The four of them ducked for cover as the Aurors, Avengers, professors that were there and the people of Hogsmeade jumped into action to defend themselves.

Shops were set ablaze, windows were shattering and they didn't know how many, but there must have been close to a hundred Death Eaters. Micah kept his eyes focused on what seemed to be a full-blown battle now until he saw a glimpse of light in the corner of his eye. He looked to Dahlia to see her concentrating and her hands flickering with their light but not being able to sustain it.

"What are you doing?" he questioned.

"Trying to stop them. They have to be questioning if this is right, I might be able to change their minds, get them to stop. I could put this battle in favour of our side."

"Enough, dahlia," Micah said sternly then reached for his curved knife and handed it to her. "You don't have control so stay here and keep this with you. If anyone tries to hurt you, kill them." He then looked at Hermione and Neville who had their wands out. "Stay here and keep her safe."

The two nodded agreeing.

Micah grabbed his gun and moved to leave but Dahlia grabbed his arm. "You can't go out there," she said. "You've never fought people with magic before."

"I have been training my whole life to fight different species with different abilities and I have watched you train enough with magic to know how to fight them. I'll be careful, I give you my word," she then felt his lips on her cheek as she felt his warm soft lips kissing her cheek goodbye before she felt her hand slip from his arm as he left to fight.

She was immediately filled with worry and knew that she couldn't simply stand by and watch as the people she knew, people she cared about fight while she stayed hidden in the shadows. She may not be able to control her powers completely but she knew how to fight, Akio had trained her to fight even without her powers and she wouldn't throw that training away.

"He said to stay here," Hermione said as Dahlia went to move.

"I can't just stay here," Dahlia said. "People are getting hurt, they're targeting the kids, I have to help. Stay safe," Dahlia said then quickly left.

She slid out onto the street, barely missing a killing curse sent her way before she slid towards a Death Eater and cut his legs using the dagger. Another Death Eater close by was almost on top of Tonks, pointing his wand at her. Dahlia ran quickly, ducking when spells were sent her way, hitting Death Eaters with her newfound strength that sent them flying into buildings.

She jumped on the Death Eater's back, wrapping her legs around his neck to choke him while Tonks crawled back to get her fallen wand. Dahlia wasn't expecting him to bring out a knife of his own and he went to stab her leg but Dahlia quickly moved to flip them over, her knife connecting with his jugular, his blood spewing onto her dress as they flipped over. He was dead before he even hit the ground.

Dahlia then stood; her dress covered in blood as she stared at Tonks stunned at what she had just done but she didn't have time to think about that. "LOOK OUT!" she shouted as a Death Eater pointed his wand at Tonks from behind and Dahlia quickly moved to cover her but as the spell hit, she didn't feel pain or discomfort, or anything really. That's when she looked up to see her hand that she had held up in almost a shield was glowing and it deflected the spell.

She stood, as did Tonks, and the Death Eater even looked surprised but his hesitation was his doom as Dahlia thought of a spell and threw him hard into the building.

"Protego," Tonks said turning to fight Death Eaters that were coming from behind them.

Dahlia moved to continue to fight. She saw Micah in the distance doing well but she also saw the bodies of the dead and injured, the bodies of the innocent who didn't deserve to die. She took out three more before she became surrounded. A group of ten Death Eaters surrounded her, all pointing their wands at her just waiting for her to move and they all seemed to focus on her hands, as if they knew that's where her power was coming from.

She could have been scared, she knew she should be but Akio's training was running through her mind and she knew she could take them. A Death Eater smirked at her, as if he was taunting her about her impending death but he was wrong. He was the first to go. She swiped her hand with a spell she had read and before she knew it, three of the Death Eaters almost had their bodies cut in half and she quickly grabbed another, throwing him against two others before teleporting behind the others. It was much faster this time as she disappeared into almost whisps of light and slid on her knees clearly behind the others and cut the back of their legs. They fell to their knees and Dahlia was quick to snap the necks of one, punch another where she could feel his face crack beneath her fist and kicked the other into the air.

She certainly wasn't expecting a giant wolf to jump into the air and tear the Death Eater to pieces.

"Fenrir," she mumbled

He stared at her for a moment before jumping into the fight and she turned at the sound of slithering and saw her brother, Jörmungandr, also here along with their father and Hela. Loki was quick to take down anyone who stood in the way of him and his daughter and when he reached her, he pulled her to the side of the street and look furious.

"What are you doing here?" he snapped.

"I'm sorry," she said sounding like a little girl with her father cross at her. "I had to help them; I had a vision-"

She was cut off as Loki pushed her down and huddled over her, shielding her as the shop they were near blew up.

"I can teleport," she said as her father got off of her. "I didn't mean to but I teleported Micah and I. We were just talking and the next thing I know, we're on Midgard. Dad, they're targeting the kids."

"You're fortunate I checked your room when I did. Why didn't you contact us?"

They ducked just in time to avoid a Cruciatus curse.

"How about we talk about this later?" Dahlia suggested, knowing now wasn't the time.

"We most certainly will. If you can teleport, teleport home or stay here and shield yourself," Loki said and she agreed but then felt a chilling sensation running through her. All the happiness and peace and hope were being stripped away and she looked up to see a swarm of Dementors flying into the village.

"DEMENTORS!" someone screamed.

"Expecto patronum," she heard people shout and not many of those spells worked and even less people were able to create a corporeal Patronus.

Dahlia was quick on her feet and held up both her glowing hands. "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" she shouted and Thestral after Thestral began to leave her hands just as the Dementors attacked the village. This attracted attention though and it was not only Death Eaters and now Dementors attacking, Dahlia could also see a large group of people running into the village.

Fenrir was quick to turn his attention to them and it didn't take much to put together that they were werewolves. As much as Loki wanted to keep his daughter from harm, he knew what she was doing was keeping the Dementors at bay so anyone who came near was quickly met by the gods power and daggers.

Once the Dementors were dealt with, they flew away like cowards, knowing they were no match for Dahlia. Dahlia lowered her hands and almost smiled as they flew away but in the corner of her eye, she caught a familiar green light, a few beams of it actually, coming towards her. She was barely able to turn, barely able to put up her hands let alone her shields. A father's love is infinite though and Loki was quick on his feet and was between Dahlia and curse before she could even blink.

"DAD!" she screamed as Loki fell back into her arms.

She lowered herself and the body of her still father to the ground. Dahlia then glared at the Death Eaters who took him from her, who took him the same way her mother was taken from her. Her whole body felt like it was on fire, her hands glowing brighter than ever before, the warm feeling in her chest returning, but the glow wasn't white and bright but green. If her eyes could turn to their Jotun red, she had no doubt they would as she slowly stood.

They had taken him from her, they had to pay. She allowed her magic to swarm around her, she allowed it to flow from every fingertip and almost immediately, she was surrounded by a green glow. She didn't know what would happen, she just felt her magic building and she didn't care what happened if she let go, if she lost control, they had to pay. She felt the need to scream, so she did.

As she screamed, the green glow of light and magic hit every nook and cranny of the village and the outlands. It even reached all the way to Hogwarts, through the windows of shops and under the floorboards, nowhere was safe to hide from the light. As the light touched everything and everyone, it was if the battle had frozen, everyone stopped what they were doing but as the light began to disappear, unchanged werewolves and Death Eaters fell. No one needed to check their pulse, their bodies just dropped to the ground, eyes wide open, and they could see their lives had been ripped from them.

Dahlia watched as each one fell but before the last one fell, she felt a hand touch hers and she moved to strike the person until she heard them speak. "Sweetheart."

She turned quickly to find her father sat up, holding her hand. He was alive. "Dad!" she cried and dropped into his arms.

He held her tightly as she cried into his neck and stroked her hair. "It's okay, I'm okay."

"I thought you died," she wept.

"Of course not. I've taught you before, all spells have to have meaning and power behind them and the power of those few Death Eaters is not enough to kill me, they just barely knock me out for a moment."

"Don't ever do that again," Dahlia said and hit against his chest. "I'm a Goddess now, if you can survive it so could I."

He grabbed her wrist to stop her from hitting him and held her tightly against his chest as she calmed down. He kissed her head then spoke. "Never, never, I will never see that curse hit you if I can prevent it, never."

Half an hour later, the village was swarming with Aurors and Ministry officials. The students had been sent back to the castle and the people of Hogsmeade had gathered in The Three Broomsticks as witness statements were taken and such. Dahlia was pretty shook-up once the adrenaline wore off and Hela delt with the politics of dealing with the Ministry officials and even Minister Bones before they left. It was a surprise to see that the Avengers, minus Thor, didn't have a clue about Dahlia's new transformation and it just seemed to be another thing the god had chosen to keep from his teammates. The souls of those who attacked were on Niflheim and it didn't take long for them to break and confess that they were sent by Voldemort to kill as many people as possible, children included, to send a strong message to the wizarding community that they were now prepared to kill their own and attack the young. Their orders included that if the children of Death Eaters were to fall, that it was an acceptable price.

There were two hundred deaths in Hogsmeade that day. One hundred and three of them were Death Eaters, sixty unchanged werewolves on the orders of Fenrir Greyback and the rest were of innocents. Unfortunately, nine of those deaths were students at Hogwarts who tried to fight back. They were able to count that the Death Eaters that died in Hogsmeade were the last that were left on Midgard but Hela warned the Minister that the war wasn't over, it was only just starting and it may take time, but an attack will come that will be unlike any they have faced before. There were countless others injured and they would survive their injuries but would never forget what happened, especially Dahlia.

Once they returned home, Eva was summoned to prepare Dahlia and a bath and she did. The dress that Dahlia wore was destroyed, they could have gotten the bloodstains out of it but they all doubted she would ever be able to look at the dress again without thinking of what happened. It was determined that Dahlia had killed seventy-two people, of course no one told her that number, but they could all see the deaths were playing on her mind as she looked down to the blood on her hands. It was her first kill. Some may say Quirrel was but that was Lily's protection over Dahlia protecting her, this time these lives were taken by Dahlia's own hands.

Once she had finished her bath and was dressed in a simple gown, Loki came back to check on her. He entered the room and saw that she was sat on the couch in front of her fire that had been lit for her. He saw Eva first as the servant curtsied before looking at Dahlia, worried and wanting to show her concern to him. He gave a slight nod and spoke. "I'll take it from here."

Eva soon left knowing it wasn't her place to ask what happened. She knew the princess had killed, she knew it happened on Midgard and she didn't need to ask anyone any more than that. The servant just hoped that her mistress and friend would recover soon.

Loki made sure the door was closed before he walked to her and as he walked around the couch, he noticed that she was holding her stuffed bunny tightly to her chest, as if her clinging to the bunny was her attempt at trying to preserve some form of childhood innocence. He kneeled down by her side and he could see the fire reflecting from her eyes as she spoke.

"I'm a murderer," she spoke.

"No," he said and reached to move a strand of hair that had fallen in her face. "Don't say that."

"But I am. A murderer, a killer, I have blood on my hands".

"Sweetheart, listen to me, don't think like that-"

"But I am," she said as she sat up, tears building up in her eyes. "I killed them."

"They would have killed you. You did what you had to do to protect the students and people of Hogsmeade. You said yourself, your vision showed hundreds of them dead including that Stark man. You warning them helped to save lives. You're not a killer but a protector, you wouldn't kill if you didn't have to."

She was silent for a moment before she admitted. "I wanted them dead. When I saw the killing curse hit you, I wanted them dead, that makes me a monster."

"No, never," Loki said and stood to sit beside her. Dahlia moved so he could sit and he immediately took her into his arms so that she would be more comfortable cuddled up against her father. "Listen to me, what you felt was anger and grief believing that I was dead just like your mother. Emotions are what bind us all throughout the universe because they are natural reactions. As much as I wish it, you cannot be happy all the time, there are times when you feel sadness, fear, disgust, anger, jealousy, but also, excitement, silliness, hopefulness and so many more emotions. The strongest emotion, however, is love. Love joins us all and can intensify any emotion we are feeling but it can also make us feel such pain and loss if we lose someone we love. Tell me, do you think I'm a monster for trying to kill Angrboda, believing I did all these years?"

She shook her head as she looked up at him with her head resting on his arm. "Of course not. She was going to kill your children, you had to protect them".

"Exactly, which is what you were doing today. You wanted to protect your friends, protect the innocent and you did. When I was hit, your love for me fuelled your anger and you could have hurt everyone but you didn't, you only hurt those who would wish you and the other's harm and that took control."

"If it was right, then why do I feel like this?"

"Because you are not a monster. A monster doesn't feel love, they don't feel regret or remorse, they kill for power and for their own self gain and never think about what they have done. You have a moral compass, you will always remember those who have helped you, died for you and those who have had to fall for you to be safe. You understand what is right and wrong and I know that deep down you understand that those Death Eaters had to die."

Dahlia looked down, knowing he was right, she knew they would continue to kill and between them all, thousands would die. She had stopped a few bad men to save many and she understood that it was a good thing, she just couldn't stop thinking about the blood on her hands and the dead eyes of corpses staring back at her.

"I'm sorry I failed you," she heard her father say quietly.

She looked back to him confused. "Failed me? You didn't fail me."

"All those months ago when we were reunited, when you began to fear your power, I promised you I wouldn't let you hurt anyone."

"No," she said as she shook her head. "You gave me your word that you would try. Dad, you couldn't have stopped what happened today. I made the choice to go to Hogwarts, I made the choice not to call for help. They were my choices and you shouldn't be thinking that you failed me because of my choices. I don't want that."

"Okay," he said as he could see she was getting upset about blaming himself so he kissed her forehead and held her even tighter. "I love you."

"I love you too," she said and moved to almost sit on his lap as she got comfortable.

Loki stayed where he was until the next day. He stayed there as Dahlia fell asleep, he stayed there and comforted her through the nightmares. He didn't need to ask what they were about; he just stroked her hair, kissed her head and rocked her back to sleep as he knew the deaths of that day would haunt her forever. It was hard to forget ones first kill, he could still remember his, just like he knew everyone who ever killed someone could. It was a mark upon one's soul, an event not easily forgotten and he wasn't naïve in thinking that Dahlia would never kill anyone again. Thousands of years left to live and being of mixed realms meant that she already had her fair share of enemies and people who wanted her dead. Then there was the whole Voldemort prophecy where she was destined to kill him. A part of Loki just hoped that somehow, he could protect her from it all, so that somehow, he could kill Voldemort or that somehow, Voldemort would be her only kill. He knew this day would change her and she would begin to accept deaths and kills but it didn't change the fact that she was his baby girl and if she broke down again from having to kill someone or the memories of this day, he would hold her tightly and remind her that she is good and that she is loved.
