I noticed that in the last chapter, I put the doctor asking the two if they wanted to no the gender. Then proceeded to not do it myself, it has been updated. No I will not tell you here, go back and find out.
Danger Line
As the custom Mandalorian fighter hurdled through hyperspace on route to Krownest, Sabine was asleep in the main quarters and Ezra sat up front. His mind was racing, he was about to face Sabine's parents with new information about their unborn twins. While he knew Alrich would congratulate them and hug them. Ursa Wren could have him killed and the children… Ezra squinted his eyes, not wanting to think of that result. He tried to focus on the trials. Sabine had given him some insight on the trials. One was to defeat Sabine's brother, Tristan Wren, in a duel. Second was to recite as much Mandalorian history as he could, to prove he was well versed in their traditions. Last he was to venture into an abandoned mineshaft and retrieve a piece of an old set of Beskar armor.
Ezra was not fearful of the trials themselves. He feared more of Ursa's judgement, for even if he passed, she could still deny him. The babies could also give them a sway in her judgment, that could be good or bad.
Feeling a bit of cold in her stomach and woke up. "What is it adik'as?" she soothed as she rubbed her still flat belly. She knew that in due time that would change, and she would get bigger in her middle. That was not going to be fun, to carry that weight around for 9 months. Thinking back to the cold, she stood to ask Ezra about what could cause it. As she walked in she saw him singing one of his songs from the holochips. Instantly her middle became warmer. Not enough to feel uncomfortable, but like a soothing warm.
"That explains it then." Sabine said leaning on the doorway.
"Explains what dear?" Ezra said standing to embrace his girlfriend.
"I had a cold feeling in my stomach, and when I came in here, it went away." Sabine laughed as she smiled.
"The force is might be strong with them. It is too early to tell." Ezra decided, leaning on Sabine.
After a few more hours in hyperspace, the two exited in front of the ice cold planet of Krownest. Ezra handed control and comms over to Sabine so she could get them down without being shot at. The two landed on a pad right outside the Wren family stronghold. Tristan was there to meet them at the pad. Ezra and Sabine stood at the top of the ramp holding hands.
"Sabine, welcome home." Tristan welcomed as he approached the ramp.
"Thank you Tristan. Its good to be back." Sabine said as she hugged her baby brother. Ezra walked down behind her to greet an old friend.
"Tristan how ya been?" Ezra asked.
"Bridger, good to see you again. I'm good, thanks." Tristan replied, giving Ezra a fist bump.
The trio made their way into the large building to see Countess Wren sitting on her throne? chair? It doesn't matter. The visual disdain on her face was very noticeable. Ezra couldn't decide what she was angry at this time, and hoped it wasn't his presence.
"Welcome home Sabine. As for Bridger…" She spoke again after a long pause. "I suppose he is welcome here too."
"Thank you mother, I missed all of you." Sabine said, relieved her mother didn't seem angered by Ezra's presence.
"I trust your trip was easy?" Alrich Wren spoke up.
"Yes sir, no real trouble. Slight drag in some places, but nothing problematic." Ezra said confidently.
"Well I will allow you to get settled in, then we shall discuss the trials." Ursa stated firmly.
"Where will Ezra stay?" Sabine questioned, hoping it wasn't too far from her.
"In the guest room in the private wing. Since he seems to be the man you wish as your intended, I see no reason he can't stay close to you." Ursa said surprisingly.
"Alright mother what is the catch?" Sabine questioned.
"Nothing daughter. We know Ezra means a lot to you, so we figured it would be better for you if we kept him close." Alrich calmly said.
They duo moved to the private wing to bring Ezra's belongings to his room. Walking in, the room was way bigger than he pictured. "Is this what you room looks like Sabine?" Ezra asked curious.
"Yes, with more color of course." Sabine grinned.
"Let's get back to the main hall. Keeping on time might help me make a good impression." Ezra chuckled as she punched his arm.
"Yea, let's go." She said and led the way out.
In the main hall.
"So Ezra we shall start with the first trial." Ursa declared, staring at the man she had taken a liking to. However, she wasn't going to judge just off of that. "How much of our history do you know?"
"The Mandalorian people are originally from the planet Mandalore, but have since spread to other colonies around Mandalorian space. The planet of Mandalore has been ravaged by centuries of war, either civil, or against outsiders. Outsiders such a Jedi." Ezra looked down sheepishly. "Jedi and Mandalorians generally do not get along, but in recent years that has changed. Mainly due to both fighting a common enemy. Uhh… Mandalorians are a very tradition oriented people, hence why I am here before you today."
"I believe that is enough Bridger." Ursa said stifling a chuckle. He was pretty well versed for an outsider.
"Too much?" Ezra asked worried he had gone too far.
"No, no. You do seem quite well versed in the Mandalorian ways for an outsider." Ursa complimented.
"Thank you, Countess, you are most kind." Ezra bowed respectfully.
"The next trial is one of combat. You shall duel Tristan." Ursa declared.
"Alright Bridger, you ready?" Tristan teased.
"Always ready." Ezra replied.
The two stepped into the training room and grabbed two staffs. Both men stood on either side of the mat, ready to pin the other down.
"This duel will be best of three. The goal is to make contact with the other decidedly, not just a graze." Ursa glared at Ezra. "No using the force for any physical advantage Bridger."
"I wouldn't dream of it." Ezra replied.
"Begin"
The duel lasted about 10 minutes before Ezra landed the first touch.
"This is fun, its good to have a challenge again." Ezra laughed as he helped Tristan up.
"Yea, well this time I won't take it easy on you." Tristan teased.
The duo started again, Ezra managing to out maneuver his opponent, but was ultimately struck again to tie the score 1-1.
"See I told you I was done playing." Tristan boasted.
"And here I thought you liked me." Ezra joked.
The third round began, and Ezra managed to catch Tristan off guard with a fake attack. He feinted left and switched to a downward strike, landing on Tristan's shoulder.
"Ah ya got me." Tristan said a bit troubled he was losing. He liked Ezra and wouldn't mind him being his brother in law, but he wasn't gonna go down easy.
"Alright let's finish this shall we?" Ezra said boldly.
The fourth round went on for about 20 minutes, neither gaining advantage. Eventually Ezra could see his opponent start to where down. Deciding to let Tristan be his own demise, Ezra just block attacks. After another, failed attack Ezra made his move. Striking low, he caught Tristan's feet and dropped him to his back.
"Looks like I win." Ezra smiled as he pulled Tristan up again.
"Good fight Bridger, I look forward to a rematch in the future." Tristan laughed. The pair of tired fighters walked up to Sabine and her parents. Sabine joking with her father about her brother's performance.
"Well Bridger it seems you have passed the second trial." Ursa congratulated him.
"Thank you, Countess Wren. It does help to train with the best fighter I know.
Sabine caught is compliment and her cheeks went light red.
"Alright, tomorrow you will face the final challenge. The retrieval of the Beskar armor from the abandoned mine." Ursa decreed.
"If you don't mind me asking Countess, what is the significance of this trial?" Ezra asked, genuinely interested.
"The piece of the armor you grab will be part of the armor you forge." Ursa informed him.
"That is an interesting trial. I look forward to the challenge." Ezra said bravely.
Unknown to them, a dark figure stood in the corner of the hallway. The man was shaking with rage as he walked off to his quarters.
"Hey its me… yeah I know its bad timing… How would you like to kill a jedi?" The man asked.
This chapter was a fun one. If the idea seems familiar, it is because I borrowed the concept from FR0ST16's "Love in the Rebellion". I highly recommend checking that story out. Also, who is this mysterious man? Why is he so angry? Why am I not wearing pants? Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z. Okay but for real, see you guys next time. TB out!
