Episode 14. Soar into the Sky
TURN 3 Morgan LP 2700 Hand 4 (+ 1 Action Card) / Lucy LP 4000 Hand 4
"My turn !" Morgan yelled as she drew her card. "I will come at you with my Summon ! I set my Pendulum Scale with Scale 3 Shana The Flame Haze and Scale 8 Winged Pendulum Kuriboh !" Both monsters arose in a pillar of light.

"I Pendulum Summon Greninja The Advance Spirit !" A beam of light shot onto the field and a fog-like monster that stands on its two legs and has the size of a normal adult human appeared. Its body and legs are black with single small white bubbles on its legs and arms. On the sides of each of his upper thighs is a light blue four pointed star which resembles a shuriken. Its legs have two toes while his hands have three toes, and it has a yellow chest and a yellow-and-black face. It has red eyes, a large projecting red stripe runs down the middle of its head with projecting red stripes in between its large black ears. Its mouth is hidden behind a large pink tongue that wraps around its neck and extends outward behind its head. On his back it has a big blue shuriken.

"Now attack Royal Dragon of the Ice Barrier !" Morgan yelled and her Greninja jumped into the air. It took the large shuriken from its back and threw it towards the Dragon. The shuriken begun to spin.
"Don´t think so !" Lucy saw an Action Card just ahead and she rushed to grab it. As the shuriken got closer to Royal Dragon, Lucy was able to grab the card. She rolled on the floor and quickly got back up. She then played it on her duel disk. "I play Blinding Blizzard ! I end the battle phase !"
"No !" Morgan yelled as a blizzard quickly blew in and blocked the shuriken. It then materialized back on Greninja´s back. Morgan looked at the cards in her hand. "I set a card and end my turn."
"You´re still setting your Trap despite me having another Dance Princess in my hand ? Dump." Lucy yelled.
"This will be different !" Morgan replied. "We will see." Lucy said, ready to start her next turn.
TURN 4 Lucy LP 4000 Hand 4 / Morgan LP 2700 Hand 1 (+ 1 Action Card)
"I draw ! I summon Dewdark of the Ice Barrier !" The monster was a blonde haired male and he wore a dark red outfit.

"I play Double Freeze once more and I bring fourth my second Dance Princess !" Another Dance Princess appeared in front of Lucy.

"Not again ! I play the Trap, Lightning Strike !" Morgan shouted. The Trap had a picture of a lightning bolt hitting a monster. "If you control three or more monsters then I can destroy one monster you control, and then add a light-type Pendulum monster from my deck to my hand which has less or equal attack then the destroyed monster´s attack ! I destroy your Dance Princess !"
"No !" Lucy said as her monster was wiped out in front of her. Morgan then added a card from her deck to her hand. "Your monster was 1700 so I add the 1400 attack, Yuna The Melodious Angel !"
"Very well. I use Royal Dragon´s effect once more ! I return cards I control back to my hand and then increase its attack by 300 for each one ! I return Double Freeze and Dewdark !" Both cards were added back to Lucy´s hand and her dragon powered up.

"Attack !" Lucy roared and her dragon fired a white energy beam from its mouth. It hit and destroyed Greninja. Even though she takes damage, Morgan stayed calm.

"A Pendulum monster that was Pendulum Summoned goes to the extra deck when it´s destroyed."
Lucy looked a bit annoyed. "My dragon´s attack goes back to normal once more. I set a card and end my turn." Royal Dragon ATK/2400
TURN 5 Morgan LP 2300 Hand 2 (+ 1 Action Card ) / Lucy LP 4000 Hand 4
"Morgan is calm. She doesn´t seem to feel any pressure at all." Stacey said with a smile as she looked at Emma.
"She knows what she is doing, for who she fights and for what she fights." Emma replied with a smile, not taking her eyes away from the Duel.
"My turn !" Morgan added a card to her hand. She then held up her right hand. "I Pendulum Summon ! Greninja returns from the extra deck and from my hand comes Yuna The Melodious Angel !" The Pendulum portal opened and two beams of light shot down onto the field. Morgan´s Pendulum monsters entered the stage.
"Next I tribute Yuna via her effect to bring out Valkyrie Knight Eri !" Yuna bowed and disappeared. Appearing in her place was a girl with shoulder lenght blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a pair of small white wings on her back and she wears a long sleeved short white kimono with red markings and long white boots. In her left hand she holds a red trident.

"Tribute and Pendulum. Not bad." Lucy said.
"Watch this ! I activate Winged Pendulum Kuriboh´s Pendulum effect ! I copy the Pendulum effect of Yuna The Melodious Angel from my extra deck ! Your dragon´s attack and defence is halved !" Kuriboh in the Pendulum Zone glowed as then did the dragon.

"I attack ! Go Valkyrie Knight Eri !"
"I play my Trap ! Sakuretsu Armor !" Lucy yelled.
"Sakuretsu Armor ?" Morgan replied as a silver piece of armour appeared and clamped onto Eri.
"I target a monster directing an attack and destroy it !" Lucy said.
Morgan only smirked as her monster glowed and shattered. "I use Valkyrie Knight Eri´s effect ! When she leaves the field due to a card effect, I can destroy a monster you control ! I destroy your dragon ! And since it also has a higher level then Eri, you take 300 damage !"
"No way ?!" Lucy replied.
"Yes way !" Morgan shouted. Chains shot out of a dark portal on the ground and captured the dragon before pulling it into the portal. Lucy gritted her teeth as she dropped lifepoints. Lucy LP 4000 (-300) 3700
"Attack directly, Greninja !" Morgan´s monster jumped into the air and threw the shuriken from his back. The shuriken hit Lucy and sent her backwards.

"When Greninja inflicts damage, he gains 300 attack points." Morgan said before holding up the Action Card she had picked up earlier.

"Finally I activate the Action Card, Action Draw. During the end phase of a turn I dealt more then 2000 points of damage, I can draw a card." Morgan took a card from her deck and placed it into her hand. "I end my turn."
TURN 6 Lucy LP 1100 Hand 4 / Morgan LP 2300 Hand 2
"I draw !" Lucy looked at her drawn card and smirked. "Morgan this has ben fun, but this is where it ends !"
"Is that so ?" Morgan said.
"I send Dewdark of the Ice Barrier to the graveyard and activate its effect. I can special summon a Tuner monster from my deck which is one level higher then Dewdark. I special summon Stallion of the Ice Barrier !" A white horse with a mane made out of blue ice shards appeared on Lucy´s field.

"Why special summon that ?" Morgan asked.
"To Synchro Summon of course." Lucy replied sarcastically.
"But you have no other monsters ?" Morgan said.
"Not at the moment, but thanks to the Spell card, Synchro Appearance Change, I will !" Lucy said, activating the Spell. Morgan looked surprised. "What is that ?"
"Synchro Appearance Change brings back a Synchro monster from my graveyard, but I have to bring it back with either a level less or with its effects negated. It comes back with its effects neagated. Now return my Royal Dragon of the Ice Barrier !" The Dragon returned to the field from a white portal on the ground and roared.

Morgan gritted her teeth. ("A level seven monster and a level three Tuner...")
"I tune Royal Dragon with Stallion !" Lucy shouted. Royal Dragon lifted into the air and went through the green rings that Stallion had provided.

"Prepare Morgan ! Appear, level 10 ! Fenrir The Nordic Wolf !" A large white wolf with chains around its paws appeared. It had a long and thick dark blue mane around its neck. Fenrir The Nordic Wolf ATK/4000 DEF/4000 Dark/Beast/Synchro/Lv. 10
"4000 attack and defence..." Morgan said in awe.
"The turn Fenrir is Synchro Summoned, I can place a Snow Counter onto a card you control." Lucy said and then pointed at Morgan´s Pendulum Scale. "I place the snow counter on your Winged Pendulum Kuriboh." Morgan looked up and saw how a glowing symbol of a snow-flake appeared above Kuriboh. Morgan looked back at Lucy. "What is this ?"
"You will see soon. Now attack !" Lucy yelled and Fenrir went in for an attack. "And don´t think about using any Action Cards ! When Fenrir attacks and an opponent activates a Trap or Spell in response, that card is negated and I then destroy it !"
"No !" Morgan shouted as Fenrir leapt onto its back legs and slashed Greninja across the chest. An explosion occured which sent Morgan flying across the ice field.

Lucy saw an Action Card near her and played it. "I play the Action Card, Blizzard Blast ! You take 400 points of damage for each monster that is destroyed ! And due to Fenrir´s effect, if you take effect damage, you take it once more, meaning it is doubled !"
"Damnit !" Morgan said as he got back up onto her feet. However, a blast of wind and snow then hit her and sent her landing back in the snow. Morgan groaned in pain as she pushed herself into a sitting position. Morgan LP 1100 (-800) 400
Meanwhile inside the stadium
Lynn was walking through a hallway. "Hope I can make it before it´s over." She said before she heard an explosion coming from a small screen on the wall next to her. She stopped and looked at the screen. It showed the current situation on the Duel field. Lynn narrowed her eyes and then started to run down the hallway.
Back to the Duel field
Morgan got back up and looked at Lucy. ("Great... how do I turn this around...?")
Lucy at that point had picked up another Action Card. "I play the Action Card, Mystical Switcher ! I banish a Spell card from my hand to then add a Trap from my deck or a Trap to get a Spell. I banish my Spell Double Freeze and add the Trap Synchro Double Force !"
Standing on the verge of victory, Lucy beamed down at Morgan as the snow continued to fall from the sky. "I end my turn by setting the Trap I just added to my hand. And now since I ended my turn, the card which has the snow counter on is destroyed."
"What ?!" Morgan said as her Winged Pendulum Kuriboh shattered and the light pillar disappeared. "You get one more turn." Lucy said with confidence.
Morgan gritted her teeth before looking at the cards in her hand with a troubled expression. She had her Spirit The Pendulum Wolf and her Action-Buddy Helpprincess in hand. ("My Pendulum Scale is damaged... if I don´t get a monster to set a high enough Scale so I can summon Spirit... then I will lose...") She thought and then looked at her deck. ("I guess my next draw will decide it. But even then... taking down a monster with 4000 attack and defence...")
Suddenly, Morgan could hear a roar again. It was the same one she heared when she was with Lynn in the infirmary... "Morgan !" A familiar voice shouted. Morgan turned to the side and saw Lynn standing next to Brody. "Lynn ?!"
"Sorry I got here so late." Lynn said with a grin.
"You´re here. That´s all that matters to me." Morgan said smiling, strangely feeling a lot happier now that Lynn was there. Lynn then winked at her, still smirking. Morgan closed her eyes, still smiling. ("I know what you want to tell me. Thank you, Lynn.") She thought while she could also hear her friends in the stands cheering her on. Morgan then turned back to Lucy with a serious expression.
TURN 7 Morgan LP 400 Hand 2 / Lucy LP 1100 Hand 2
"But even then... I don´t think I have anything in my deck to turn this around. I know I have Tribute and Pendulum but..."
"You will need more then that to beat me !" Lucy replied to Morgan.
Morgan looked at Lucy and then at her deck.
"Morgan ! You can do this !" Lynn shouted which made Morgan look back at her. She got surprised when she noticed that her bracelet was glowing in a green light. Lynn noticed that and looked surprised as well. Morgan then on reflex looked at her own bracelet and saw it was glowing in a pink light. The top card on Morgan´s deck then begun to glow in a pink and green light. At that point Morgan and Lynn´s eyes glowed into a pink and green light respectively. The two closed their eyes and when they reopened them, they were standing on a grassy field with a bright blue sky. Their eyes were back to normal.
The girls looked around and then at each other. "Wow. Now that is strange." Lynn said.
"I actually start to get used to this." Morgan replied with a small smile. "Not the first time it happened."
The girls then heard a loud roar, and a moment later, a large glowing white shadow shot down from the sky and landed in front of them. It seemed to look down at them with its beautiful ocean blue eyes...
Morgan and Lynn then held up their bracelets as they continued to glow.
"Lynn... I think... I can feel your power. It is... coming to me ?" Morgan said. "I don´t know how or why, but I feel it."
"Yes, I feel it too. Take it, Morgan. Take the power and win this Duel !" Lynn said as she fist pumped towards Morgan. The glowing shadow at this roared once more. Morgan and Lynn nodded at each other before each held out a hand towards the shadow. The glowing shadow closed its eyes before leaning its head towards them. As the girls gently touched its head, a bright light flashed. Seconds later the girls were back in reality.
Taking a deep breath in, Morgan once more looked at Lynn who nodded back. Morgan smiled as she placed her hand onto the top card of her deck, ready to draw. "Thanky you, Lynn. Be with me. I draw !" Morgan shouted. A streak of green light appeared as she drew her card. Morgan looked at her hand and couldn´t believe it. ("How did I get this ?!") Her drawn card showed a monster card with a certain word written into the text.
("This is... Lynn´s power...") Morgan now smirked with excitment and confidence. "Time to win this ! Prepare yourself, Lucy !"
Morgan then grabbed a card from her hand. "With the already set in the Pendulum Zone Shana The Flame Haze and Spirit The Pendulum Wolf, I set the Pendulum Scale !" She slammed the card onto her duel disk and the rainbow word "PENDULUM" formed. Spirit rose up in the left pillar of light and the golden number five appeared under him.

"With this I´m able to simulately Summon level four monsters. Swing Pendulum of my Soul. Draw an arc of light into the sky ! Pendulum Summon ! Come forth, my monsters !" The Pendulum portal opened and three different colored beams of light shot onto Morgan´s field. "Return from the extra deck, Yuna The Melodious Angel ! And joining the fight from my hand are Action-Buddy Helpprincess... and the Pendulum Tuner monster Guardian Snow Owl !"
"A Tuner monster ?!" Lucy shouted shocked.
"Morgan has a Tuner monster ?!" Her friends shouted from the stands.
Yuna and Helpprincess appeared alongside a large white owl with blue eyes and silver armour on its wings.

Except Lynn, everyone in the stadium was shocked while Morgan stood with confidence. She then heard the roar once more and smiled. "Wait, I... we will call you now !" Morgan said and then held up her hand. "Now I tune my level four Yuna The Melodious Angel with my level four Guardian Snow Owl !" Guardian Snow Owl flew into the air and turned into four green rings. Yuna then followed and flew through the rings before turning into four white orbs.

"Spread your strong and wonderfull wings and show our opponents your never ending fighting spirit ! Synchro Summon ! Come forth ! Level 8 ! Synchro Spirit - Sky Dragon of Reunion !" Morgan and Lynn both chanted together and a bright white light flashed. A mighty white and blue Dragon with angelic white wings and ocean blue eyes appeared in the sky. Blue armor covered its upper body and its arms. It landed in front of Morgan and let out a loud and proud roar.

"Morgan Reigns just performed a Synchro Summon !" Nico Smiley yelled excited.
"A Pendulum Summon into a Synchro Summon ?! Morgan did that ?!" Brody said surprised.
Drake and Avery stood on the sidelines, not really wanting to believe what just happened.
"That girl Synchro Summoned..." Drake said. Avery looked at him and then back to the Duel. She smirked. "She seems to be full of surprises."
"How´s that for a monster !" Morgan shouted towards Lucy.
"It sure looks amazing, but it doesn´t matter." Lucy replied. "I activate the continuous Trap, Synchro Double Force ! If I control a Synchro monster which used a Synchro monster as Synchro Material, then it cannot be destroyed in battle and I take no damage from attacks involving it !" Fenrir glowed as a green barrier protected it.
"That won´t be a problem. Right ?" Morgan said, looking up at her Dragon.
Sky Dragon roared once more before lowering its body and so allowing Morgan to climb onto its back. Morgan then patted him and he took of into the sky. "I use Sky Dragon´s effect ! One per turn, I can tribute as many other special summoned monsters I control and then destroy that many face-up cards you control !"
"No !" Lucy said. She begun running for an Action Card.
"Be gone Helpprincess !" The female monster turned into purple energy and flew into the Dragon´s mouth. The Dragon then fired the energy out as a beam which hit Fenrir and destroyed it. "Now end this, Sky Dragon !" Morgan shouted and her Dragon gathered energy in his mouth. He then unleashed a white energy beam that hit Lucy and sent her flying across the field.
Lucy LP 1100-0 / Morgan WIN
Lucy landed in the snow and the audience all begun to cheer. "It´s over ! Winner of the fourth match is Morgan Reigns !" Nico Smiley shouted into his microphone.
Sky Dragon flew around the field while Morgan smiled and waved to the audience. Landing back on the ground, Morgan jumped of her Dragon´s back. She looked up at him with a huge smile. "This is amazing ! I had always wanted to have a Dragon for myself !" Sky Dragon seemed to like Morgan´s happienes and he rubbed his head against her cheek. Morgan chuckled and gently rubbed the Dragon´s head until he and the Action Field disappeared. Morgan and Lucy then met each other in the centre of the field. They shook hands as they smiled at each other.
"Well done, Morgan." Lucy said.
"Thanks. That was a good Duel." Morgan said before giving Lucy a sympathetic smile. "I guess you and your friends belong to the few ones of Harper Futuristics who preach playing fair and square."
"Actually, most of the students at our school play fair. However, that changed once a certain Harper took over the company. And that´s the reason why me and my friends take on tournaments. To make a change." Lucy said with a sad smile before she took a card out of her deck and held it out to Morgan. "Here, I want you to have this. Since you can now Synchro Summon, I´m sure it can help you."
"Your Defender of the Ice Barrier ? Are you sure ?" Morgan asked and Lucy nodded. Morgan then smiled and took the card. "Thanks. I promise that I´ll make good use of it." Lucy nodded and smiled once more and both girls then went separate ways.
Morgan reunited with Brody and Lynn on the sidelines. Emma and the others also joined them.
"That was amazing Morgan !" Ethan said.
"Where did you get that power from ? You didn´t had that before, had you ?" Stacey asked.
"Well, I might have had a helping hand." Morgan said as she smiled at Lynn who smiled back.
Lucy walked up to her teammates with a regreting smile. "I´m sorry that I lost."
"You were good. It´s not your fault. Who would have guessed that she pulls off a Synchro Summon." Drake said.
"And besides that, I am still in this. We still can make our dream reality." Avery said, giving her friend an assuring smile.
One hour later
It was now the late afternoon as Nico Smiley stood with all eight competitors on the field. "You all showed us some amazing Duels, proofing that you all deserve to be in the finals. Now it is time for the final Duel. And the ones of you who will battle are..." Nico pointed at the TV screen. A few seconds later a picture of Morgan and Avery appeared. "The Aces of both You Show Duel School and Harper Futuristics Duel School ! Morgan Reigns and Avery Harper !"
"So that´s what you call fate, eh ?" Brody said to Morgan.
"Actually, I had the feeling that Avery and I would settle things here." Morgan said.
Drake got closer to Avery. "You got what you hopped for. Now show her how strong you are. And please be careful."
"I will." Avery said before giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
Drake, Lucy, Brody, Lynn and the two students of the Ryozanpaku Duel School then left the field and Morgan and Avery stood face to face.
("Morgan is strong. Yet, she hasn´t seen the real strength of my deck. This time she will go down. I will win.") Avery thought and then looked at Morgan. "Morgan, your Pendulum Summon may have been the reason for a lot of your victories recently, however, today it will be the reason of your defeat."
"We will see." Morgan replied with a confident smile while she held up three cards. One of them she placed into her extra deck while the other two she placed onto her deck which then shuffeled.
Nico then spoke with a smile. "Now then, who will win this Duel and become Action-Duel World Champion ? Let´s find out, but first we need to select the Action Field."
A sphere of glowing cards with a large Action Card inside appeared above them. "And the field will be..." The sphere then shattered and showed the large Action Card with the image of an old temple. "Here it is ! Action Field, on ! Activating the field spell, Fortress of the Sunset !"
("Agmented Reality Combat System, activating. Creating the Action Field.")
The ARC System activated and a temple on a mountain with a wall around it with a fall bridge appeared. It was sunset all around them.
Avery begun the chant. "Let´s do this. Duelists locked in battle..."
"Kicking against the earth and dancing in the air alongside their monsters, they storm through this field !" Morgan continued.
"Behold ! This is the latest and greatest evolution of dueling ! Action..." Nico said and then raised his hand.
"Duel !" Both Morgan and Avery shouted. Nico snapped his fingers and the Action Cards scattered across the field.
"You can go first, Morgan." Avery said.
Morgan narrowed her eyes a bit. ("She must be planning something, so it´s best to strengthen my defence as much as I can.") She thought and then grabbed a card in her hand.

"I activate the Spell, Summon of a Pendulum Soul. Now I can special summon a high level Pendulum monster. Come forth, Fate The Lightning Pendulum Mage !" A bolt of lightning shot onto the field and Morgan´s ace monster appeared in attack mode. ( Fate is a girl with burgundy eyes and long blonde hair which is bond into pigtails. She wears a white cape, a black top who goes a little bit over her thigh and has a white stripe at the underside, a light short pink skirt, short black fingerless gloves with silver wrist armour, black knee socks and short metal boots. She holds a silver and black trident shaped staff which is the hilt for an yellow energy blade ).

"Next I set one card face-down and end my turn." A card appeared in front of Morgan and vanished again.
TURN 2 Avery LP 4000 Hand 5 / Morgan LP 4000 Hand 2
"It´s my turn now." Avery drew a card and looked at it. "First I activate the continuous Spell, Yosen Training Grounds." A shrine with two rows with six candles on each appeared behind Avery. "Whenever I normal or special summon a "Yosenju" monster, one Yosen counter lights up on this card."
"Yosen Counter ?" Morgan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Avery grabbed a card from her hand. "Next I summon Yosenju Kama 1 from my hand in attack mode." A tornado appeared on the field and out of it came a weasel looking monster with white hair, dressed in a dark blue and white fighting-style kimono. It holds a sickle with a long chain attached.

"When Kama 1 is succesfully summoned, I can summon a Yosenju from my hand that isn´t Kama 1. Come, Yosenju Kama 2 !" Another tornado appeared on the field before a second weasel looking monster with white hair appeared. It also wore a kimono and it holds a sword over his shoulder.

"And when Kama 2 is succesfully summoned, I can summon a Yosenju from my hand that isn´t Kama 2. Come, Yosenju Kama 3 !" A third weasel looking monster appeared. This one only wore black pants and a green scarf. It holds a dagger.

Nico Smiley was shocked, but then he smiled. "Look at this. Avery managed to summon three monsters to her field at once."
"Being able to summon multiple monsters at once is not unique for the Pendulum Summon you know." Avery said as she looked at Morgan. "And since I just summoned three Yosenju monsters, due to Yosen Training Ground´s effect, three Yosen Counter light up." Three candles on the shrine lit up.
"This is a bit creepy." Lynn said. Brody nodded his head. "I hate to say it but her deck might actually be pretty good."
Avery then pointed at Lightning Mage. "I now activate the special ability of Yosenju Kama 1 ! When there´s another Yosenju on the field, I can return one card on your field to your hand once ! I choose your Lightning Mage !"
"What ?!" Morgan´s eyes widened in shock when Kama 1 sent the chain attached to his sickly towards Lightning Mage. The chain wrapped around the female warrior who then vanished from the field. Morgan gritted her teeth while she placed Lightning Mage´s card back in her hand.
"Battle ! Kama 1 attacks you directly !" Avery said and Kama 1 swung his sickle with the chain for a few moments before he flew towards Morgan.
Morgan saw an Action Card on her right side and run towards it. "Action Spell Evasion ! Your attack is negated !" Kama 1 stopped right before he was about to cut Morgan with his sickle. It looked frustrated and jumped back to Avery´s side.
"You avoided the first attack, however, here comes the second ! I´ll attack you with Yosenju Kama 3 !" Avery´s Kama 3 prepared his dagger and jumped towards Morgan.
Morgan couldn´t see any Action Cards near her so she pressed the image of her face-down card. "I activate the continuous Trap, Action-Buddy Emergancy Call !" Her face down got flipped face-up and Morgan held out her arm. "To bad Avery but this card can negate a direct attack aimed at me once per turn and then I can summon an Action-Buddy monster from my deck but with its effects negated."
Kama 3 was forced to stop with an angry expression. Morgan then grabbed the card that came out of her deck. "Come forth in defence mode, Action-Buddy En Wing !" The puppy monster appeared on Morgan´s right shoulder.

Morgan looked at Avery. "And with that you can´t attack anymore since En Wing´s defence is higher then your Kama 2´s attack."
Avery smirked. "Actually, I still can. You see if I cut Kama 2´s attack points in half until the end phase of the turn, he can attack your life points directly." Kama 2 grabbed his sword with both of his hands and a smirk on his face. Kama 2 ATK/900
Morgan narrowed her eyes a little. ("I already used up my Trap so there is only one thing I can do now.") She then ran towards the drawbridge of the palace yard, figuring there must be an Action Card inside.
Avery looked after her. "I won´t let you get an Action Card. Now Kama 2, attack Morgan´s lifepoints directly !" Kama 2 swung his sword and sent a wind strike towards Morgan. The Pendulum duelist ran towards the draw bridge that was slowly being pulled up. Morgan jumped up on it to get inside, but at that moment so did she get hit by the wind strike Kama 2 sent her way and she fell down on the ground with a groan of pain.

"Only 200 points of damage ?" Avery asked surprised.
Morgan was still lying on her back as she looked up at Avery with a grin. "Just in the last second I activated the Action Card Attack and Defence Exchange that I found on the drawbridge. This switched your monster´s attack and defence around."
"I see. Not bad." Avery said as she walked up onto a stone wall with her three monsters. She looked down at Morgan. "I activate Kama 3´s effect. When another Yosenju monster inflicts battle damage to my opponent, I can add a Yosenju monster from my deck to my hand as long as it´s not another Kama 3." A card came out of Avery´s deck and she grabbed it. "The Yosenju monster I choose is Yosenju Oyam." She turned the card around and revealed what looked like a large dark brown, almost black ghost.
She then pointed to the shrine behind her. "Next I activate the effect of Yosen Training Ground. Once per turn, I can remove three counters from it in order to add another Yosenju monster from my deck to my hand." The fire on the three candles got blown out and a card came out of Avery´s deck. "I add the monster Mayosenju Daibak from my deck to my hand."
Avery added the card to her hand and grabbed another. "Finally I set one card and end my turn." She pointed to her monsters. "Now the three Kama brothers return to my hand due to their effects." The three Kama brothers got surrounded by tornadoes before they vanished from the field and Avery added their cards to her hand again.
Morgan was back on her feet and looked at Avery. ("Due to their own effects, all her monsters have returned to her hand. Her field is empty now. Is this a Trap ?")
"Let´s continue the show, Entertainment Duelist, Morgan Reigns." Avery said with a small smirk.
"Avery is taunting her opponent without a care in the world !" Nico Smiley spoke up.
Morgan looked determined. ("Even if it´s a Trap, I just have to do my own dueling !")

"Here I go ! My turn !" Morgan drew and smiled as she saw it was her Winged Pendulum Kuriboh. "It´s here !"
Morgan then held up two cards. "I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 1 Yuna The Melodious Angel and Scale 8 Winged Pendulum Kuriboh !" The two Pendulum Zones appeared behind her and Yuna and Kuriboh appeared inside of them while the numbers 1 and 8 appeared under them.

"Now I can summon monsters between level 1 and 8 at the same time ! Pendulum Summon !" The portal opened and two beams shot onto the field. "First, let´s welcome Action-Buddy Little Professor !" A small blonde haired girl with brown eyes and dressed in a white leb coat and black boots appeared.

"And now it´s time for the main star to re-enter the stage ! Come forth, Fate The Lightning Pendulum Mage !" The female warrior apeared in front of Morgan, ready to fight. Fate The Lightning Pendulum Mage ATK/2500 DEF/2200 Light/Warrior/Pendulum/Lv. 7 -Scale 4
"Two direct attacks and it´s over. However..." Brody said.
"It totally looks like a trap." Lynn said with a smile.
"Let´s battle ! Fate The Lightning Pendulum Mage attacks you directly !" Morgan shouted and Lightning Mage jumped into the air and prepared to attack. At that moment so revealed Avery her Yosenju Oyam card. "Yosenju Oyam´s effect activates from my hand ! When I take a direct attack, I can send one Yosenju in my hand to the graveyard to special summon it in attack position !" Avery placed a card into her graveyard and then Oyam appeared on the field.

"Unknown attack and defence points ?" Morgan asked.
"Oyam´s attack points become the same as the original attack points of the monster it´s battling against !" Avery said. Oyam ATK/2500
"And since I special summoned a Yosenju monster, one Yosen Counter lights up." Avery snapped her fingers and one candle on the shrine lit up. "Well ? Will you attack knowing that they´ll both be destroyed ?"
"I´m not done ! Little Professor´s effect activates !" Morgan said and a book appeared in her hand. "When a monster I control declares an attack, this card increases the attacking monster´s attack by 200 until the end of the battle phase." Morgan opened the book and showed the page to Little Professor who nodded. Little Professor then used a pen to draw the number 200 into the air. She waved her hand and so sent the number towards Lightning Mage. The number then vanished into the sword.

Avery gritted her teeth a bit. Morgan then pointed at Oyam. "Go, Lightning Mage ! Riot Zanber !" Lightning Mage slashed through the ghost and so destroyed it. "Lightning Mage´s special ability activates ! Any battle damage she inflicts is doubled !" The force of the attack sent Avery flying off of the wall and landing on the ground.

"I change En Wing into attack position and activate his effect ! One Pendulum monster on my field gains 800 ATK for each Pendulum monster currently on the field !" Morgan said and En Wing jumped down from her shoulder and glowed. En Wing ATK/1600
"Now attack directly !" En Wing charged forward.
Avery looked at the cards in her hand and bit her lip. She didn´t really want to do it but it was better then losing most of her lifepoints. "Now by paying 500 lifepoints and sending Yosenju Endou from my hand to the graveyard, I can negate your attack."

A large green and black Hawk with razor sharp claws and red eyes came to the field with a screech. It flapped its wings, sending a power gust of wind towards En Wing, knocking him backwards and cancelling his attack. En Wing landed next to Morgan and growled. Yosenju Endou then disappeared.
Morgan´s eyes wandered to her Little Professor but she felt ansure. ("I can attack a third time, but I don´t know what she has in store. I dealt damage so I think it´s fine to wait for now.") She thought and looked back at her opponent. "I end my turn." En Wing ATK/0
TURN 4 Avery LP 3100 Hand 3 / Morgan LP 3800 Hand 0
Avery got back up on the stone wall and looked down at Morgan with a smile. "Time for me to get serious. I draw !" Avery drew and added the card to her hand. "First I banish Yosenju Endou from my graveyard to gain three Yosen Counter." The screech of the monster was heard throughout the field and three candles on the shrine lit up.
"Next I summon the three Yosenju Kama brothers back thanks to their effects." All three Yosenju Kama reappeared on Avery´s field and three more candles lit up.
Kama 1 ATK/1600 DEF/500 / Yosenju Kama 2 ATK/1800 DEF/200 / Kama 3 ATK/1500 DEF/800
"Now I remove two Yosen Counter to add a "Yosenju" monster from my graveyard back to my hand. I return Mayosenju Daibak who I had sent to the graveyard to summon Oyam." Avery said. Two candles were blown out and Daibak´s card came back from the graveyard.
"Now Kama 1´s effect activates and I send one card you control back to your hand. I choose your continuous Trap Action-Buddy Emergancy Call !" Morgan´s Trap shattered and she added it back to her hand.
"Why didn´t she used that to return Lightning Mage ?" Ethan asked.
"Something is up here." Lynn said and Brody nodded in agreement.
("She had the chance to take out Lightning Mage but didn´t do it... what is she up to ?") Morgan thought.
Avery then pointed at Morgan. "And now I attack your life points directly with Kama 2 by cutting his attack points in half." Kama 2 held up his sword with a smirk.

He then swung his sword and sent a wind strike towards Morgan who started running. Morgan then saw an Action Card in a hole in the wall next to her with wooden poles meant to be used as steps leading up to it. Morgan run up the poles and reached out to grab the Action Card, but at that moment so did she get hit by the wind strike and it sent her flying to the ground.

Avery smiled and looked at Kama 3. "Since a Yosenju monster dealt you battle damage, Kama 3´s effect allows me to add a Yosenju monster from my deck to my hand." A card came out of Avery´s deck and she grabbed it. "The card I choose is Yosenju Kama Knight. And since I already control all three Kama brothers, I can special summon it without tributing !" Another Weasel like monster appeared but this one was taller then the others and wore armour while holding a sword.

"Once more a Yosen Counter lights up on the shrine of Yosen Training Grounds." Avery said and another candle lit up. It were now six.
"I continue by activating another monster effect. Kama Knight´s effect ! He counts as two monsters for a Tribute Summon. Now be gone !" The monster disappeared and a huge green tornado came down from the sky. "The elder ghost clad in strong winds, remove your wild garments to create a large river and hollow out the land ! Tribute Summon ! Come out, Mayosenju Daibak !" A large green wolf like creature with a horn on its head came to the field. It had red eyes and rings of green wind moving around its body.

A seventh candle lit up while Avery stood inbetween her monsters with a confident smirk. Morgan gritted her teeth while her monsters placed themselfs protectivly in front of her.
"Next I will seal your Pendulum Summon away. I activate Daibak´s effect. Once per turn, I can select two cards on the field and return them to the hand ! I return Yuna The Melodious Angel and Winged Pendulum Kuriboh to your hand !" A hurricane appeared out of Daibak´s horn and Yuna and Kuriboh got trapped in it. They shielded themselfs for a moment before they got thrown out of the Pendulum Zone and shattered. At that moment pressed Avery the image of her face-down card.
"We´re not done yet ! Since I control Daibak, I can activate the continuous Trap Dizzing Wind of Yosen Village !" Avery´s Trap flipped face-up and a strong gust of wind came out of it and hit Morgan who shielded her face to protect herself from the powerful winds that hit her.
"When non-Yosenju cards return from your field to your hand, they return to your deck instead !" Morgan looked at Avery shocked before she looked at Yuna and Kuriboh that she had been about to return to her hand. She placed them back into her deck which got shuffeled.
Brody narrowed his eyes. "So she´s planning on getting rid of Morgan´s cards so she won´t have any chance of fighting back."
Avery then held up a card. "I pay 800 lifepoints to activate the Continuous Spell Yosen Whirlwind from my hand !" Avery LP 3100 (-800) 2300
"I remove one Yosen Counter to add a Spell card from my deck to my hand. I add the Spell, Gravekeeper´s Servant. And I activate it ! Now you must send the ramaining card in your hand back to your deck and draw a new one." Morgan looked at her card and then placed it onto the top of her deck. Her deck shuffeled and Morgan took a new card from the top of her deck.
"Now I end my turn. But don´t think for a moment that you´re out of danger. The secret power of my deck is about to begin right now thanks to my combo." Avery said.
"A combo you say ?" Morgan asked.
"That´s corect. When a Yosenju on my field returns to my hand, Yosen Whirlwind returns one card on your field to your hand. And when a non-Yosenju card returns to the hand, Dizzying Winds of Yosen Village returns it to the deck instead of the hand."
Morgan gasped in shock. "But that means..."
Avery nodded. "The three Kama brothers return to my hand during the end phase. Therefore, Yosen Whirlwind returns three cards to your hand, but Dizzying Winds return them to your deck instead !" The three Kama brothers got surrounded by tornados and vanished, then a tornado came out of Dizzying Wind and Yosen Whirlwind. "The cards I´ll return to your deck are Lightning Mage, En Wing and Little Professor." The tornados then hit Morgan´s side of the field and all three monsters shattered.
"Now your precious Lightning Mage is gone." Avery said with a smile.
"Damnit. That´s why she didn´t use Kama 1´s effect on Lightning Mage. Her goal was to return Fate to my deck instead of my hand." Morgan said before she placed the three cards of her monsters into her deck which shuffeled once more.
"That´s the Pendulum sealing technique. Now what do you say, Morgan ?" Avery said with a grin.
"I knew this would happen. It was only a matter of time until someone would find out the weakness of the Pendulum Summon." Emma said.
"So it really does have a weakness..." Stacey said.
"Every Summon has a weakness. For a Synchro Summon you need a Tuner monster, to Xyz Summon an Xyz monster with a high rank you need at least two high level monsters with the same level, and for a Ritual and Fusion Summon you need a certain Spell card or a monster with a special ability." Emma explained.
"Pendulum monsters have the power to revive themselfs during the next turn when they were destroyed or returned to the hand. That´s their greatest power. However, if they are returned to the deck they can´t be summoned back to the field." She added and then crossed her arms. "That combo... Avery´s deck is strong, and that not just against someone who uses Pendulum, but also against others since her combo empties the opponent´s field and hand."
"Morgan´s field is empty ! She only has one card in her hand, so she´s in a desperate situation !" Nico Smiley comented.
"Avery thinks she has the upper hand now, but this is Morgan we´re talking about. This isn´t over yet." Lynn said, believing in her friend.
"Morgan thinks so too. That´s why she´s smiling." Brody said. Lynn looked at him surprised before looking at Morgan and saw that he was right.
Morgan looked up at Avery with a confident expression. ("I´m really cornered. Right now I have nothing in my hand that can really help me out of this situation, so I wonder, why am I so relaxed and excited ?")
Avery then spoke again. "It´s time that we finish this once and for all."
"Finish this ? Don´t be redicules. This Duel has just begun."
Avery got a shocked expression when she saw that Morgan seemed to be happy and enjoy this Duel despite the difficult situation she was in. A small smile appeared on her face. "Seems like your will to reach your dream is still strong and steady."
"It´s not my dream that makes me keep going but more the trying to keep my promises towards my friends and myself." Morgan replied. "And you have the same strong and steady will to fulfill what´s important to you, right ?"
Avery seemed troubled by this so Morgan changed to a calm expression. "Your dream is to become able to change something, right ?"
"How do you know about this ?" Avery asked, her expression more surprised again.
Morgan gave her a small smile. "Lucy mentioned something when I thanked her for the fair Duel. She said that the reason that you all fight in tournaments is that you try to make changes. I don´t think it´s right for me to ask that but I would like to know what you want to change."
Avery was thinking for a moment and then sighed. "My surname is Harper, as you now know. My father, Leon Harper, founded Harper Futuristics and thanks to his many ideas the company quickly became one of the famoust of the world. He is also the one who created Real Solid Vision. On my ninth birthday he gave me the deck I´m using right now, telling me that I will be a great leader for Harper Futuristics one day. That was the last time I saw him. Shortly after my birthday, he went on a business trip and never returned. Eight years have passed since then. I was to young to become CEO and my mother didn´t wanted to be CEO so my stupid uncle Max Harper took over the company, and bit by bit he ruined it with his thinking and actions. And one day it even started to affect our school. A lot of our students started to duel more arrogantly and violently just because my damned uncle talked them into believing that power is everything."
Avery then balled her fist in anger. "I´ve decided. I´m not going to sit back anymore and watch how my uncle ruins my father´s hard work. I´m turning seventeen soon and then I´m old enough to take over the company. However, to gain the trust of our students and the people who work there, I need to proof that I´m strong enough to lead this company. And that I will proof by gaining myself the title of Action Duel-World-Chapion ! That´s my dream, the reason why I fight !"
Avery calmed down again and now looked on with sadness. "I really regret that I hurted people in the process, but I need to return Harper Futuristics back to its inspirational form. I owe my father that. He was always there for me so I want to be always there for him." Tears now flow down Avery´s cheeks as she finished.
Morgan looked at Avery with a sad expression. Avery may not be her friend, but Morgan can still feel the pain and sadness. ("I always hated the people from Harper Futuristics because they only cared about themselfs. That´s why I never cared about their reasons. But Avery, Lucy and Drake are different, and they try hard to make people see that. Just because they are members of Harper Futuristics, it doesn´t mean they don´t have their own personal relationships. They all have something they carry with them.")
"Alright Avery ! Then come at me with everything you have !" Morgan then shouted with a smile.
"Morgan..." Avery replied, feeling mixed up with emotions.
"Try to beat me ! Proof yourself ! Go all out ! Work on your dream ! In exchange, I will do the same thing !" Morgan shouted, her smile getting bigger.
Avery took those words in and turned to look at Drake and Lucy who smiled and nodded. Avery closed her eyes and smiled before turning to Morgan with confidence. "Alright Morgan ! I will !"
TURN 5 Morgan LP 2900 Hand 1 / Avery LP 2300 Hand 3
Morgan´s smile was still there as she placed her hand on her deck. "I draw !" Taking a quick look at the card, Morgan placed both cards into her duel disk. "I set two cards and end my turn." Two cards appeared on Morgan´s field and disappeared again.
"Your Pendulum monsters sealed away and no cards in your hand. That only leaves for a basic move." Avery said with a smile.
Morgan then used the poles in the wall to get up on top of the wall behind her. She then jumped down into the castle yard and looked up at the temple. "If I don´t have any cards, I just have to search for them !" Morgan said as she looked over her shoulder at Avery. She then begun to run towards the temple on the mountain.
"The real Duel... the real fun is only getting started !"
