Adam and John woke up the next morning and grabbed the necessary gear to carry on with the mission, but left their other gear behind since they didn't want to draw attention to themselves or risk Jack the Ripper catching sight of Diamond Foxes soldiers.
"Alright, Adam, you ready?" John asked him, making Adam nod. "As ready as I'll ever be. We'll find a good spot for me to deploy my drone in the park, then you'll come back to the apartment building and head up to the roof to deploy your drone and watch from a safe distance since he's seen your face." He answered.
John nodded as they both walked out their apartment door and walked down the hallway. Adam slowed down to the point of almost stopping as he thought about Nomad contacting him in the middle of the night.
"If Sam knows that I'm in the middle of a mission, why would he have Nomad give another one to me right before it officially starts?" He wondered. "Well, whatever is going on in that man's head, I know he must have his reasons if he trusts me this much to do two missions at once." He thought.
"Adam!" John called out to him, making him jump in surprise. "What?" He asked as he looked at him. John looked at him with concern and confusion. "Dude, are you sure you have everything? You're not missing anything?" He asked making Adam quickly nod his head.
"Yeah, yeah. I have everything I need, I was just... thinking about something." He answered. John continued to look at him with concern. "You sure?" He asked.
Adam nodded.
"Alright, well, whatever it is you're thinking about, forget about it for now. We got a job to do. Get your head in the game." He said to him, making him nod.
"Right." He said as he walked over quickly to him before they both exited the building and officially started their mission.
10 minutes later, Central Park...
"Ok, I think this is a good spot to deploy my drone and scan the area for Jack." Adam said to John as they came upon one of the many park benches in Central Park, making John nod.
"Alright, I'll head back to the apartment building and deploy my drone from there and keep an eye out on the southern part of the park for Jack." He answered then began to walk away before stopping to look back at Adam.
"Adam?" He called out.
Adam looked up at John from the park bench. "Yeah?" He asked.
"If you see Jack before I do, then radio me. Do not engage with him. Understand? You're on your way to become a great soldier, but if you engage with my dad's Jack the Ripper persona, you won't stand a chance against him. You'll be lucky if you even walk away with your limbs or your head intact." John warned him, making Adam nod his head.
"Don't worry, John. The mission isn't to engage with him anyway. We're supposed to watch and observe him, remember? So, don't worry." He assured him, making John nod his head to him before quickly walk back to the apartment building.
Adam watched for a moment as John walked away before looking at the mini drone in his hand activated it before letting it fly up into the air to scan the park for their target.
Meanwhile, Central Park entrance...
A man walked up to the Central Park entrance with a glaring look on his face that made the people around him turn their heads away from him while also avoiding him.
There were some that dared to look at the man could swear up and down that his eyes flashed red from time to time before they went back to a diamond blue color, but they would soon look away the moment the man glanced at them with his vicious glare.
The man continued walking until he began to take a stroll through Central Park. "Look at all these people." He thought. "So entitled, privileged and lazy. It's fucking ridiculous how they're all still alive in this day and age. It makes me sick. What I wouldn't give to go back to my hotel suite, grab my blade and just cut and rip this entire city a new one." He continued on in his thoughts while he walked.
He then closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh that sounded almost like a growl which made the people around him uneasy and afraid as they continued to avoid him.
"BUT, Gomez tells me that I need to refrain from doing that until the time is right. Whatever the FUCK that means." He ranted inside his head as he opened up his eyes and looked around him at the people that continued to avoid both him and his gaze.
He shook his head before he smirked sinisterly. "Poor snobs. They have no idea what's going on or what's going to happen to the rest of the world when Goliath is released. Then and ONLY then will I be able to have some fun." He thought as he chuckled darkly as he continued walking around the park.
"But, Gomez better hurry his ass up! I'm getting sick and tired of waiting. I've been all over the world and he's made me wait here for a month! What the fuck is he making me wait for?!" He thought as he walked past a young man sitting on a park bench, but he didn't take notice of him.
Because unbeknownst to him, that young man looked up from his phone for just a moment before getting up and began to follow him from a distance.
Then the man sighed.
"Oh, whatever. I'm gonna head to one of the bars nearby and get me a drink before I head to the secret underground base that's here in the city. I want to check up on the progress of Goliath before I head back to the hotel. Hopefully, I'll have an update on whatever it is I'm waiting on and check to see that I'm not COMPLETELY wasting my fucking time here in this shithole." He thought as he headed to one of the park exits, still not noticing the young man following him from a distance.
Back with Adam...
Adam had gotten a visual on Jack as he walked right past him, which made him tense up, but it didn't look like he was paying too much attention to him. It actually looked like his mind was on something else because of the look on his face.
Whatever was on the Rippers mind, he looked pissed. So, Adam decided to follow him from a distance.
"John, I have a visual on Jack. I'm following him from a safe distance now. Do you have a visual?" He asked John in a whisper.
It was just a moment before John responded back. "Yeah, I have a visual on both of you, Adam. Remember what I said though. Under no circumstances are you to engage with him. Just tail him and find out where he's going. I'll be right behind you soon. Be careful." He said before quickly cutting off contact as Adam continued to follow Jack.
Adam continued to follow Jack until he went inside of a bar. He assumed that he was going in to get a drink. He stepped inside an alley and leaned against the wall near the entrance of the bar and contacted John.
"John, it's me. If you haven't started following us yet, then don't. He stepped inside a bar." He informed him.
"A bar? Why would he go in there?" John asked him in confusion. "Are you sure that it's not his area of operations? There could be a hidden location there." He continued, making Adam look at the area around him and at the people that were going in and out of the bar.
None of them looked like soldiers or agents of Gomez's group.
"I'm pretty sure that it's just a normal every day bar, John. The people entering and leaving the bar reek of alcohol." He informed John, making the young man sigh. "Alright. I'll wait until you tell me you're following him again. But if he takes longer than usual to have a drink, go inside the bar and have a look around. Got it?"
"Got it."
Adam then began to wait for Jack to have his drink, if that's what he was really doing, before he could follow him again.
25 minutes later, Jack walked out of the bar not looking any happier or calmer than he did when he walked into the bar, in fact, he looked even angrier.
"John, he's on the move again. I'm following him now. Where are you?" Adam whispered as he followed the cyborg. "I'm a block behind you. I'll catch up soon, just keep following him." John replied back as Adam continued following Jack from a distance.
"Hopefully he won't stop anywhere else this time and just go to where his secret base of operations is. Because obviously, he wouldn't be staying here this long if there wasn't one here in the city. I hope I'm wrong though. And we need Raiden back. John needs him." He thought as he kept his eyes locked on Jack.
Then suddenly, Jack stopped and turned around slowly before Adam leaned against the nearest wall and pulled out his phone to make himself look like he was having a conversation to look casual.
Jack looked all around him to see anyone tailing him, but he didn't see anything out of place or unusual. So he just shrugged and turned back around before walking again.
Adam glanced at him from the corner of his eye before putting his phone away then started to follow him again.
He continued following him from Midtown until they both reached one of the docking areas in Hell's Kitchen.
The warehouses in the docking area look vacant and the surrounding area had not one single person in sight. There wasn't even a patrol.
Adam hid behind the brick wall as he watch Jack walk into one of the warehouses before losing sight of him. "Ok, this must be the place if he's making a stop here, but where are the patrols? This feels... off." He thought to himself before hearing static from his radio.
"Adam, it's me. Where are you? I lost you in Times Square." John said to him.
"I'm at one of the docking areas near Hell's Kitchen. I'll send you the coordinates, but something doesn't feel right. There are no guard patrols anywhere near the warehouses." He informed John as he examined the surrounding area to see if he may have been wrong, but there's no one in sight except the civilians, who are on the other side of the wall where he is standing.
"Hmm... could it be just to put up a front? A cover? I mean, some of the docking warehouses near Hell's Kitchen have been abandoned for a long time. It would be the perfect cover for Jack to hide out in a place like that." John voiced his opinion to Adam.
But Adam wasn't fully convinced. "Or it could be the perfect place for Jack, Gomez and his group to hide out in since no one would think to check out an abandoned warehouse. Unless of course you're a college or high school kid looking for trouble." He said voicing his own opinion.
"Hmm... it could be. Or it could be anything, really. Either way, we'll soon find out. You go on ahead. I'll catch upwith you soon. Just be careful and watch your back." John said warning Adam, making Adam nod.
"Alright, I'm headed in. See you soon, John." He said before breaking contact with John and headed towards the warehouse that Jack had walked into.
Moments later...
He walks right up to the warehouse door and opens it to see the inside of the warehouse.
But not a single person is in sight. Just like outside.
"Ok... now I'm starting to feel really uneasy about this." He thought as he walked around the inside of the warehouse and examined the gloomy and depressing interior, even though it was daylight outside.
He had walked around examining his surroundings before he caught sight of one of the cargo boxes that had suspicious markings on the floor.
He cautiously walked over the cargo box and examined the floor.
The markings weren't just markings, they were scrapes. And the side of the cargo box looked like a door.
"An escape room, maybe?" Adam thought as he slid his fingers into the crack of the door and slowly pried it open to look inside.
"No... not an escape room. An elevator." He whispered while examining the elevator before stepping inside.
WHAM!!!
The elevator door suddenly shut behind him before he felt it descend down underground.
It wasn't long before the elevator eventually descended down into a wide open area that looked to be an underground base beneath Manhattan.
"Oh, Christ. This is not what I was expecting." Adam wondered with slight panic as the elevator continued its descent until it eventually came to a stop, making Adam quickly dash out of the elevator and hide behind one of the many boxes that were in the underground base.
Adam looked around him to see many men and women working on countless projects, weapons and vehicles before spotting Jack talking to Gomez. "Jack's here, but Gomez shouldn't be. Our intel said that he left the city." Adam thought to himself looking off to the side for a brief moment before looking back at the two men.
But Jack was missing.
"Shit. Where did he-URGH!" He began to whisper before feeling someone strike his head from behind.
Adam collapsed to the floor with a loud thud as Gomez walked over to him and Adam's attacker.
Jack the Ripper.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Oh, Adam. Why would Diamond Foxes send you on a solo mission like this and not even well equipped? It's almost sad, really. Makes me wonder if they even care about you." Gomez said to Adam's unconscious form, making Jack look up at him.
"Gomez, you know this loser?" He asked, making Gomez nod his head.
"Yes, I do. I wish I could say that we're amigos, but in his mind? We're not." He answered as the Ripper looked back down at the unconscious man. "So, what do we do with him? Do we kill him?" The former child soldier asked Gomez, but the man shook his head softly with a slight glare.
"Oh, no, Jack. I still want to show him Goliath's progression. He merely got a glimpse of our metal monster in Afghanistan. I want to show him our Metal Gear in all its glory with no cover or mist blinding his sight. Let's hold him for now. And then, we'll decide what to do with him after." He said as he motioned with his hand for Jack to pick Adam up.
The Ripper does so and lifts him over his shoulder as both men walk away with an unconscious Adam.
Meanwhile, with John...
John just reached thedocking area that matches Adam's coordinates and decides to get in contact with him. "Adam, it's John. Do you copy?" He said into the radio and waited for an answer.
But no answer came.
"Adam, I repeat, it's John. Do you copy?" He said again and waited.
No answer.
"Adam, come in, do you copy?" He continued to say repeatedly into the radio, but still received no answer from his comrade.
"Adam? Come in. Do you copy?"
...
"Adam?"
...
"ADAM?!"
