So…The YouTube channel the Turtle Den added the Turtle Profile of Raphael from The Next Mutation today (Hopefully we'll have the 2003 Turtle Profiles by next year) I was planning to add a chapter to Down to a Sunless Sea every time Turtle Den added a video I actually liked but this week another YouTube series I follow Extra Mythology told a Mesopotamian myth where Tiamat the Primordial Ocean Monster created several Bestial Monsters including terrifying Rams, while Chanchalla is a Ewe not a Ram she does have horns certain Artists and one Comic Book Series The Mighty Zodiac having 'Female Rams' which is as stupid as the 'male cows' in that horrendous Barnyard Series but Chanchalla is horned and as a Norfolk Horn and Sheep bred for meat she's not quite as fluffy as other breeds of sheep also Chanchalla's story is just more compelling then Down to a Sunless Sea which was meant to be a more comedic story
That night upon going to sleep, Chanchalla met Samtra again in the strange desert dreamscape under a sky black as pitch, once again Chanchalla stirred the waters of the stream to show Samtra all she had discovered during the waking hours including the pleasure that was television and movies! Samtra was stunned silent by these strange machines of this world! Chanchalla had never seen a Sarpah this dumbfounded! When asking the Serpent what she was thinking Samtra could only utter "Um…Er…Uh…" And flew back into the sky…Chanchalla's dreams became normal sleep dreams.
The next morning, Chanchalla realized she really needed a wash, she had learned from Donatello how the shower worked so for the first time she tried the shower.
Don had warned her that it does take a few moments for the water to heat up, but for a creature wrapped in a dense wool coat, she didn't mind that too much, she saw the bottle of two-in-one hair care both shampoo and conditioner that Splinter had being he was normally the only creature who had fur in the house, the bottle was large, long as her entire forearm but she knew it wouldn't be a lot for both her and Splinter to share, she squeezed various bits out on parts of her torso she didn't even touch her head as there wasn't as much fur there was there was on her body and she rubbed those spots thoroughly. After washing her wool she simply stood and let the hot water soak her for a few moments reveling in the fact this was the first time she had been able to wash with hot water in days if not weeks!
Suddenly, she was startled by a loud knocking on the door!
"Challa!" It was Mikey's voice "Are you gonna be in there all day! I really need to get in there!"
Chanchalla bit her lip; she didn't think she had been showering that long…She certainly mean to stay too long in the washroom. She quickly turned off the shower, wrapped a towel around herself and quickly unlocked the door to let Mikey in and herself out, he sounded like he really needed to be let in urgently.
However she noticed the other three Turtles all turned towards her and she quickly ducked back into Mikey's room, having put her clothes in the hamper to be cleaned.
Later that day she tried to practice getting into the dream, as she would do usually on Dardunah Sir'hibas usually almost always have to enter a trance, enter a dream to perform any kind of magic, it wasn't the kind of magic where Sorcerers casually throw fireballs and bolts of lightning at their enemies, no on Dardunah magic was something strange and ethereal, it was Sir'hibas connecting to what was known as 'The Web of Life' to which all things are connected, Sir'hibas typically duel in the dream not in the world of physical matter, and in some ways the dream was far more dangerous than the material world, most times when a Sir'hibas was defeated in a dream duel their spirit was merely sent back to their body in the physical realm but souls could also be captured and if a soul is not returned to the body within a certain amount of time the body will die, also the ever looming occupational hazard to Sir'hibas was…Insanity.
But any attempt to get into the dream the usual way she used to in Dardunah failed, this time her soul wouldn't leave her body, no portal formed above her head, the first time it happened in the world she was basically begging and pleading the Devah…She remembered what Samtra said about the Devah being connected to her by a 'Spiritual Leash' was it that the Devah would only grant her access to the dream in only the most desperate of emergencies, only to grant simple requests like to communicate with the denizens of this world? If that was true…She was basically rendered powerless in this world…Without adequate connection to The Dream, she could not cast a single spell!
She began to weep, almost instantly Leonardo and Splinter were there.
"We sensed the spiritual energy…" Splinter said "…Tell us child…What happened?"
"The Dream…" Chanchalla said "…The Dream all Sir'hibas must enter to perform any kind of magic…I can't enter it anymore like I did the first time…I think I'm too far from Dardunah and the Devah…They can grant simple wishes like to communicate with you…But not enough so I can actually cast spells to effect the Physical World like in Dardunah…I'm helpless here!"
"Chanchalla…" Splinter "…Perhaps this is true and you are too far from Dardunah to cast spells…But you are far from helpless! You are young and strong! We can teach you how to defend yourself with your body…"
Challa became quiet, since it was discovered she was a Sir'hibas when she was very small she had been tutored in Sir'hibas training in lieu of the physical martial arts training her brothers were instructed in. Her Pratháma-Jaya or 'First Victory' in which one earns one's caste braid and becomes an adult in the eyes of Dardunah Society concerned her first Sir'hibas ritual as opposed successful battle in the Spiral Arena for most members of the Sunborn…But…If she had no magic here…Than all she had left was her body to fight with…
The First Victory differs for different Castes for the Trade/Merchant Caste it is either their first sale or their first successful craft while apprenticed to an Artisan, Peasants celebrate their first successfully earned job this way
