He had never been more thankful than to not be in the great hall than he was at that moment.

(September 2nd 1990) (Great Hall) (Dinner time)

All forms of chatter ceased the moment the first flap of a bird's wing was heard. Almost all of the occupants in the hall had eaten their food in a quick pace to have nothing distract them from the incoming mail. Many were hoping their own copies would be coming in instead of having to rely on the copies they had been able to get their hands on throughout the day. A copy of a copy was not very good, especially when done by a student.

The staff were in a state of anticipation as well. Both of the Snapes had been looking towards the next newspaper to come when no other letters from Gringotts had been forthcoming. It wasn't really a surprise though, it's not like a goblin to give things for free. Theirs had been a courtesy and a warning for all they had done. Now they would have to wait with the masses instead.

As soon as the owls flooded the hall every occupant had their eyes searching for a familiar owl and had their hands ready to take its burden from it.
Soon enough many students and staff members had gotten one or two newspapers for themselves and began to read. Those who had none crowded around their closest friends or uncaring neighbors to read over their shoulder. Small whispers began to gather as the front pages were read. Those whispers soon turned into full on chatter as each article was discussed. The topic was so interesting that little groups began to form on different tables consisting of members of other houses. Who knew that a scandal was the way to unite the houses.
Up on the head table the conversation was flowing much the same as it was with the students. Well, with colorful language not being censored though. Thank the heavens for silencing charms.

"He had the boy's mail held back?! What was that old fool thinking?"-

"That's illegal! Is he mental."-

"He is the next Lord of his house!? He was being raised in ignorance of it? That's almost line theft."-

"How was he to get any help if he didn't know how to ask for help."-

"I sent him a small present every year on his birthday and yule. He never got anything?"-

"How could Dumbledore do this? Finna march up there an give'em a piece of me mind."-

"Well well well, looks like someone won't last long in these hallowed halls."-

"Good, an educators main priority should be the students wellbeing not their own plans."-

Severus Snape looked over at his wifes face. To everyone else she looked as if she was mildly displeased. He however could see the fire in her eyes as she dissected both papers before her.

"Would you like to continue this conversation after our meeting with my house this evening?" Severus asked mildly.

Adrianna looked at him briefly with an imperceptible smile on her lips.
"Of course darling." She said slowly, as to not be overheard by the rest of the staff. She then huskily. "I would love to discuss many things with you." Her salacious meaning could not be mistaken as her eyes had fallen to half mast and her eyes radiated lust.

His own eyes clouded with meaning and he was thankful for the distraction. He had been in a state of constant upheaval ever since his wife found the boy and it had only worsened with his actions from the day before. He needed to regain his balance and prayed to the gods to give him no more surprises until he could get his equilibrium back.

The rest of dinner had gone quickly as seemingly everyone in the castle was eager to get to their common rooms or a common area to discuss the latest articles in the newspapers. Speculation was rampant and everyone had something to say about it. Only a few noticed that there were no Slytherins among those who chose to create mixed house groups. They knew better than to miss a mandatory meeting set up by their head of house. Besides, none of them had forgotten that they would finally be introduced to the unknown woman.

At exactly eight fifteen all of Slytherin house was present and accounted for in the common room. Professor Snape walked in from one of a few secret entrances available to him as their head of house. He liked to use different ones to catch them off guard. The one he chose for this evening was one they knew led to his office.
He walked out in his usual teaching robes with the small beautiful young woman gliding behind him. She was thin, petite, beautiful, young and appeared to be of hispanic descent. However the most notable thing about her was the way she carried herself. She was self assured and held herself with a dignity many females in the room strived to achieve. Clearly this was no 'commoner' they were dealing with. If her demeanor had not clued them in then her wardrobe would have done so. Many of them could recognize high wizarding french fashion when they saw it.

Severus snapped his fingers and an elegant emerald green velvet tufted scroll arm loveseat appeared in front of him. He led the woman around it and helped her sit down while he stayed standing. No one said anything as they watched and attempted to gleam any information from their actions alone.
Seeing how courteous their head of house was to her they knew she was not someone they wanted to cross. She was obviously held in high regard by their potions master.

Severus locked eyes with nearly every student in his house as he scanned the room. Discreet nods from his prefects told him that everyone was present and he could begin.

"There are a few things I will be going over tonight. The first of which everyone must be present for. The end of our discussions will be for the incoming first years and can be skipped by the rest of you if you so wish to leave." He said.

"This is Slytherin. We are the proud members of Salazar Slytherin's house and strive to embody our house's traits. We are normally seen as dark for wanting to achieve our ambitions but most fail to see that this trait is shared by anyone who wishes to fulfill their goals." He said as he gazed at everyone in the room.

"We use every opportunity to our advantage and we are judged for it but they do the exact same thing and are simply not vilified for it. We are witnessing a change in the magical world at the moment. What the outcome will be from this is not currently certain. What is certain is that the political, social and economic repercussions from this will impact everyone from all social backgrounds. Something like this does not happen often so be sure to pay close attention to the short and long term changes that come from this." He said sternly as a few people had thought it a good idea to murmur.

"We may end up getting a new headmaster or have our current one end up with more power somehow if he miraculously manages to explain this all away." He said with a sneer. It was a true fear of his. "We may end up being shut down for a few weeks as the ministry tries to make a grab for power." That did garner a few murmurs which quickly shut up with a look. "Either way it is imperative that you all keep your eyes and ears open and ensure you stay neutral on many subjects lest it come back and bite you. I can assure you that the Ministry is scrambling to throw the blame on someone in order to not get buried by this. The rest of Europe is watching and sending their own reporters to our shores in order to get an unbiased report."

Many students looked surprised or upset at the mention of neutrality. It was something they were not expecting from their head of house who had ties to the last dark regime. Hearing that the rest of the magical communities were watching what was going on calmed some of them as to their heads' words. Clearly he was looking out for them and wanted them to get ahead no matter what. A true slytherin.

"There is little to nothing that the ministry can do to contain this so they will more than likely take an open door approach and make the hearings as public as they can. With the Potter heir claiming sanctuary at Gringotts it will affect the way things move forward." Now Severus could see he had everyone's rapt attention at the mention of the bank. "This places the Potter heir as a ward of the Goblin Nation and allows the goblins to handle his affairs. As many of you can imagine, this gives the goblins almost a complete form of immunity from our laws." Severus said gravely. Many upper years were beginning to shift in their seats or positions at the thought of goblins running around unchecked.

"They can and will challenge any witch or wizard in the Potter heirs name who is in violation of the law to a form of duel or combat." Snape said as he tried to burn into their minds just how serious that was. Especially if their family owed the Potter family anything. "They will act as his 'hand' and take back whatever they believe he is owed. If any of you have any knowledge of someone being guilty of possessing something they shouldn't then i suggest you tell them the possible consequences of such a thing." He said.

"Gringotts was not kidding when the article mentioned Adoption or Emancipation. The goblins are their own sovereign country within our own and with the Potter heir being given sanctuary he has effectively been given citizenship within their government." The volume rose slightly as some began to realize what this meant. "Whatever happens next will have a lasting effect on our world for it is not just Britain that is being affected but the entirety of our magical world. The I.C.W. may even step in to 'help' us run our government better." He sneered. Here he paused to let the news sink in as the students openly murmured about that piece of information. No one wanted any outsiders to try and tell them what to do. They knew how 'inclusive' the I.C.W. tried to be. It would not do.

"It would be best for those in our governing body to resolve this matter as promptly and efficiently as possible. The goblins do not play by the political games we are used to and will not hesitate to make things worse. The bank deciding to close its doors to us all or moving to a different country would cripple our economy and leave the wealthiest family destitute." He said as he began to see the terror in some of the eldest eyes. Some were all that was left of their once large families. They were all vowing to contact anyone they knew within the Wizengamot and the Ministry to resolve this as quickly as possible. They did not want the goblins to use this for their own advancement.

"All we can do now is keep ourselves out of any disastrous involvement with the ongoing case and observe." He said as he placed his arms on the settee behind Adrianna. "We might end up being presented with an opportunity we cannot overlook." He said pointedly.

Now everyone was aware of what their head of house meant. This could be an opportunity for their house to be seen as something better than mere dark witches and wizards. After all, it was head lion himself who caused such a scandal, they were innocent for once.

Severus meanwhile moved around the settee and carefully moved Adrianna's hair from the front to the back on her left shoulder as he stood next to her. The intimate gesture was not lost on anyone and both adults were hyper aware of the multitude of eyes now dissecting their every action and reaction. It somewhat amused Adrianna.

"Now, the next matter of discussion is the woman who has yet to be introduced to the castle at large." Severus said as he held his hand for Adrianna to take. She took his offered hand with a bemused look and rose from the settee. Her dress automatically draped down elegantly around her ankles.
"This Adrianna Snape nee Vega, my wife." Severus said illustriously as he introduced his wife. The murmurs and looks exchange rapidly at hearing her name. Not just on the fact that their head of house had married but that he had married a Vega. Those who realized both were salivating at the information.

"In formal settings she is to be referred to as Lady Prince and myself as Lord Prince." He said and once again he watched the information pass through their eyes. Severus was enjoying himself immensely. Seeing the flabbergasted looks he caused in his colleagues and the Malfoy family upon telling them was better than this. Now to really knock them over.
"It is also with great pleasure that we inform you all of the impending birth of the Prince heir." He said as he placed his right arm around Adrianna's waist.

Her beatific smile was not faked as she happily cradled her stomach with her hands. Many eyes zeroed in on her actions. Severus was going to treasure this memory for years. He helped his wife to her seat once more and took his own now that he was finished.

"It should go unsaid but i will say it anyway to not cause confusion." Severus said as his gaze turned dark. "I will not stand for any mistreatment of my wife and heir. If any of you see anyone or anything causing my wife any sort of discomfort you are to intervene immediately and bring it to my attention post haste. My wife will not spend much time in the castle proper so there should not be any incidents occurring but if there are I expect you to step in." Nods of affirmation were given and the prefects all straightened up at his orders. With one final look around the room he relaxed next to his wife and turned his expression neutral.

"The rest of the announcements are for first years. If any of you wish to stay in the common room with us that is fine so long as you do not interrupt or make a nuisance of yourselves." Severus said as she watched his snakes get up and talk to one another.
He figured they would all leave immediately to send word to their relatives or contacts. He was not expecting them to approach them.

Two siblings were the first to get in front of them. Fourth year Agrona Clagg and seventh year Golda Clagg curtseyed and bowed their heads politely in front of the two expectant parents.

"On behalf of the Clagg family we wish you a merry union and congratulate you on your impending heir Lord and Lady Prince." Golda Clagg said as she was the eldest.

It took Severus half a second to pull himself together from his stupor and thank both girls accordingly. His wife did as well and soon they had to accept the formal congratulations and best wishes of his entire house. Not most, not many but all. While a cynical part of him told him that there must be some who only did it as to not be left out he ignored it and chose to be touched by their gesture. It went on for some time and by the end of the procession he was left with the first years and about a dozen or so other students who were either talking or writing what appeared to be letters home.

"Now," He said as he addressed the stunned first years who appeared to be overwhelmed. "I will give you the speech you were meant to have been given had we not been informed of the headmasters dealings with the Potter heir."

And so, Severus gave his little snakes the proper introduction to the ancient and noble house of Salazar Slytherin as his wife sat by his side observing. That he felt more at ease than he had ever been in his house was being large, solely, attributed to her and her calming presence.

(Time Skip) (The Snapes' Quarters)

Severus and Adrianna had left the common room after speaking to the students and being wished a good night. Severus was still stunned by their behavior but rightfully attributed it all to his wifes presence at his side. He was sure many of them would become much more pleasant once word spread of which family she belonged to.

"Do you have patrols tonight?" Adrianna asked as she walked towards the hallway to her room.

"Yes, I will head out in about an hour and return sometime after midnight." Severus said as he made his way to his books to unwind for a bit.

Adrianna frowned at that.
"You won't get any proper sleep if you don't return earlier."

"I am used to having only a few hours of sleep a night anyways." Severus said casually, not really noticing how his wife did not like his answer. "I will be fine. I will make sure not to wake you with my return."

Adrianna merely nodded at him.
"Could you come by my room and tell me when you are leaving?" She asked, he nodded. "Thank you, I will wish you good night then." Adrianna said with a smile he was aroused and terrified by. She had something in mind.

"No worries my dear. I will see you in about an hour." Severus said as he took a book from the shelf and made his way to his chair.

Adrianna merely smiled and went to her room.

True to his word Severus made his way to his wife's room before he went out on patrol. He just hoped the morons had wizened up and kept track of the time so he didn't have to break up any mischief until the wee hours of the night.
He knocked on her door and waited for her to answer. He was going to give her a simple goodnight and tell her not to wait up for him when his words died in his throat and his mind went blank.

There, leaning up against the door was his wife dressed in that sinful nightgown he had seen her wear last week when he shared her bed. "I will try. My mind is currently preoccupied with something else."

Severus smirked.
"Just try." His gaze softened. "You both need it."

Adrianna pouted. He was not playing fair.
"Okay." She huffed with a smile.

Severus smirked and moved away from her. He stood at the door and gripped the door handle as he looked at her.
"Goodnight my dear."

Adrianna smiled and bit her lip playfully.
"Goodnight darling." She purred.

His nostrils flared and he beat a hasty retreat closing the door behind him.
He grumbled all the way out of his quarters as he adjusted his massive erection that had not gone down. He was never more thankful for his robes than he was at that moment.
