I wanted to tell you that I will be reposting the first chapters on the story. I felt my writing really improved to I tried to arrange it a bit, you know make it smoother. If someone wants to re-read it and tell his honest opinion, let me know.

I'm hoping I learned kind of a new skill during this quarantine. Let me know if it's better.

Chapter 12: Trust

"What we will have to face is no common enemy; their names are Loki and Hela. And they are now trying to escape their interdimensional prison." Vegeta looked at him and scoffed "What are you talking about Kai. Stop being dramatic." The Kai glared at him and ignored his comment. He looked at them again "I won't repeat it twice."
"Long before the namekian Dragon Balls were created, the first namekian was named Loki, he was produced from a strange tree of life that appeared on the planet after its completion. He started the population and created a new era. He created the Dragon Balls in order to serve the namekians and ease their lives. However, his plan backfired on him and the namekians used them to fulfill their own wishes. Desperate by the situation, he decided to wish that all the greed his people had to be gone and make him the recipient of their greediness, before adding to be casted away so he wouldn't harm anyone. The namekians became the helpful people as we now know them but he became evil because of all the avarice accumulated in him, even after being locked. But since we know that they are not a race who like to fight, Loki thus became an evil mastermind thirsty for blood. For this reason, he created a warrior to fight his battles. This person is called Hela. She was born human, had a feminine silhouette with a human colored skin, green eyes but long white hair. She was warrior with unlimited potential, but was unaware of that. Once the earth was attacked by the Saiyans and Nappa blasted her home city, it triggered her hidden powers, allowing her to survive. Since her powers weren't from this world, they grew and became colossal every time a soul was being brought back to life or the Dragon Balls were used for selfish purposes, and let's say that you earthling are the most self-centered race there is. When the Dragon Balls were used to bring back the earthlings killed by the Saiyans and Cell, her powers went berserk.
As you know, they are the Supreme Kais, the Grand Kai and the King Kais watching over each quadrant. In addition, you can count the Gods of destruction and a person called the Supreme Kai of Time. Her role is to make sure the timelines of the universe are not disturbed, such as when Mirai Trunks decided to come and warn you about the androids. She was able to discover that Hela was the creation of Loki and was able to trap and seal her in another realm, outside of our universe. However, for reasons we yet ignore, but we think might be related to the use of the Dragon Balls, their realm approached and re-entered our universe and they found each other's near Hell in the Otherworld. It caused many disturbances, and Goku was aware of them since he had to face several challenges. We feared that they are trying to escape this interdimensional space and return to this world.
Since their realm is close to that of Hell, they are reinforcing their powers by taking the essences of the deaths. Combined with their abilities' increase with the use of the Dragon Dalls, we were able to reach an important conclusion: Hela is trying everything she can to get her power boosted enough to escape, and we fear that she will reach this goal once they find a way to combine the power generated by the most selfish wish of all: getting people back to life. We discovered that if she can combine in one place all the strong fighters who were brought back to life using the Dragon Balls the closest to their realm, in this case yours, she will be able to unlock this ability and escape. We ignore the magnitude of their power at the moment and their different abilities, all we know is that they must not escape.
We are still researching who are all the people who were brought back to life using your Dragon Balls, we can name a few that you already know, such as Goku, Krillin, Master Roshi and Chiaotzu. We still want to confirm the number. Until then, do not get all together in the same place. If you were the only ones, the worst can happen. Until we find a way to seal them again, avoid a long contact time all together. And as a said earlier, never let your guard down or get distracted, we do not yet know the full extent of their powers."

They all looked at the Kai and frowned. Vegeta looked at his rival and spoke "Kakarot, what did he mean? What were the challenges?"
"About two years ago, when I was supposed to come back after the five years limit, the machine that was used to purge the souls exploded. We were able to stop the worst and avoid the opening of Hell into this world. A monster called Janemba was created but we managed to stop him. After this attack, the Kais told me to stay more, claiming they sensed a new disturbance."
They all looked at Shin and waited for an explanation "Indeed. We sensed the first disturbance after the Cell Games. We deduced it was when her realm started to switch and reached that of Loki. After the Janemba incident, we noticed how close they got to Earth and understood this is where they decided to escape. At this time, her power boosted and they were able to enter our realm. We asked Goku to stay to prepare for it, thinking at first they were going to escape to Hell, and he would be ready. When we discovered that it wasn't the case, we brought him back here to prepare for their escape."
Piccolo frowned before he looked at them "Wait. It doesn't make sense. The people who were brought back to life using our dragon balls, in addition to the ones you named, are Yamcha and Tien, after our trip to Namek. And if you count the Namekian Dragon Balls, you can add me to the list. And we already were all present together yesterday during the Ox-kingdom gala. If it were the case, they would have already escaped."
"This is what we are fearing. There might be someone else who was brought that we weren't aware of. Maybe a human made a wish. Until we inform ourselves more, stay alert."
They all nodded and left the planet, before deciding what their plan was going to be.

After their trip to King Kai's planet, Gohan was unable to concentrate on either his training or studies. Piccolo asked him to find a solution since they weren't allowed to make mistakes. His mother and best friend deduced that the cause of his lack of focus was Videl and told him to speak with her. Lime was able to convince him by saying that it was for the sake of the earth, knowing very well he would buy it. When the night came and Gohan found himself unable to sleep, he looked at the pearl necklace he kept near his bed and sighed. With that, he decided to go talk to her.

He didn't pay attention at the time and once her reached her balcony, she was already asleep. He directly noticed a missing picture in the frame Erasa made and saw that it was the one of their night out during Valentine's. His curiosity got the best of him when he saw her phone blinked and noticed a message from Erasa, and he started reading the text chain.
'Gonna talk to him tomorrow?'
'No. Im not backing down.'
'Give him a chance. You know he wont do the first step.'
'I took my decision. I cant stand the idea of being seen like im trash by another boy. Let's forget it. Trust me its better like this.'
'As u wish Vi. Always got your back.'
He quickly re-marked the last message as unread and left her room.

The next day, he decided to speak with her to clear things up. If he wasn't going to focus in his training, his former master was going to kill him. He entered his class and waited for her but she was late. He deduced she received a call from the police and waited for her. When eventually lunch came and they didn't receive any news from their classmate, Lime asked Erasa who answered them "Her father took her urgently to the hospital last night after she had a really bad headache. She claimed it was nothing but her dad preferred to do a scan since she was screaming really badly. They are waiting for the results now but I don't think she'll have the time to come back to school today." They all told her to let them in on any news before they continued their day. When they finished their classes, Lime proposed they all eat somewhere and they headed to the city center. On their way, they saw Videl on the opposite side of the road, walking in the school's direction. They quickly spotted her lack of focus as she was passing the street on a red light. She regained her attention when she heard a truck honk at her but she knew she wouldn't be fast enough to dodge it. She closed her eyes waiting for the impact but it never came. She felt something hard against her head and noted someone was holding her, flying. She opened her eyes and saw Gohan who was looking anxiously at her. She slowly regained her senses and thanked him before her friends reached them "Vi, thank Kami you're okay." She nodded and lowered Gohan's grip before Erasa proposed to go to the park to sit and calm down. They asked her about the scanner but she told them they found nothing and said it might be related to stress.

After a while, Erasa got a call from her mother and had to leave and Lime and Mirai excused themselves, claiming they promised Trunks to play with him. Videl wanted to excuse herself and leave Gohan who was clearly uncomfortable, before she heard him speak "I'm sorry."
"Huh? What for?"
"Everything. You were right, I should trust you more. And you are right, I still am the jerk I was before. Learned that the hard way. But I am working on that, at least I'm trying."
"Thank you."
"If you still want me to open up, I can try. You know, give me another chance?"
"I guess we could try"
He smiled at her and invited her to his house on Saturday.

Once she reached the Son residence, she saw Goku and Chi-Chi sitting outside. She was never alone with Gohan's father and didn't want to miss the opportunity to meet the former champion. They greeted her and she asked about Gohan "He's at Lime's running errands. He should be back soon."
Goku asked about her, claiming he wanted to know his son's friends more, asking more about her hobbies and future plans. She was surprised since he was the first person who wanted to know more about her personal plans without associating her with her father. She was sure Gohan told his father about her and she couldn't but feel happy that she was, for once, treated like a normal person, a feeling that made her notice how good of a person and father Goku was, helping her understand why Gohan idolized him this much. He eventually asked about his son's behavior and if he still had anger issues, explaining he knew about his their first encounters; he then looked at his wife claiming he will deal with it and he will not tolerate this kind of behavior from him.

The adults' discussion was cut short when they heard what seemed like a small fight inside and Videl proposed to check on the kids who were playing in the living room. They jumped excitedly when they saw her and invited her to play with them. While she was sitting on the floor, she saw what seemed like an old picture of Gohan with the twins. They were clearly younger and his hair wasn't as spiky as it is now. She couldn't help but notice how light his smile was and she quickly tried to understand the reason Why would someone fake a smile with their siblings? I know he loves them more than anything. She continued to analyze the pictures, noticing several ones of Gohan and his father when he was young, and one where they were in their Goldfighter state. She asked the twins about the reason why their father was nowhere in old pictures of them and the reason for his absence and a look of surprise overtook her when Goten blurted by mistake "He was dead here."
"What?"
"Yeah. It was after the Cell Games… hmpff"
He didn't have the time to finish before Hina covered his mouth with her hand and asked Videl if she could come with her to get the toys to play. Hina took Videl's hand and started to discuss this and that with her to avoid having the high schooler analyze the house more and they reach a room with a single bed and a big telescope near the window "Hina. Why are we in Gohan's room?"
"We don't have the place to put the toys in our room. Big brother said we could put them here, this way if he is in his room, we could all play together."
She smiled at her and waited for the kid to get what she needed while she glanced at the room. There was a study table near his bed and a big library on the left of the door. She saw several training Gi hanging from his closet and the sword his grandfather gave him hung on the wall, near several drawings she assumed he did I remember him always drawing in class. He surely has it in him, these are really nice. Is that him near a giant purple dinosaur? She then looked at the library and was amazed by the number of books I know he is a nerd but this is too much. Seriously does he do anything other than reading in his free time? She saw the album photo his parents prepared and the snow globe she gave him which made her smile. She continued her tour and put her hand on the small table near his bed and saw the frame Lime gave him and noticed her necklace and got shocked I can swear I saw him throw it. Why on earth would he bothered looking for it again? Hina cut her trail of actions and told her she found the toys she wanted and they could leave. They didn't have the time to reach the living room that Hina screamed "Big brother" dropping the toys and went outside to hug him. Videl followed her and she smiled at her classmate. They excused themselves and he took her to the site where they camped when she came the first time. He sat near the river and waited for her. She eventually sat near him and he asked her "So… what do you wanna know?"
"Everything."
He laughed at her and waited for her to speak "I guess you're gonna be surprised by my first question but I have to know. Your dad? Goten told me he was dead after the Cell Games. How can he be alive now?"
He panicked and mentally cursed at Goten's mistake before he sighed "You can say that my father sacrificed himself because I wasn't able to put my ego aside and kill Cell when I should have. He teleported so Cell wouldn't auto-destroy himself and the planet and he died in the process. We know a trick to get people back to life using special orbs but he asked to stay dead a little longer so he could learn new techniques in the Otherworld. I guess time moves differently there because he didn't pay attention to the years that passed on earth and when he noticed it's been seven years, he told us to wish him back."
"I'm gonna try and ignore the fact that he died but is now alive and these weird orbs thingy, that's a discussion for another time. But wow you did have this shitty character since you were a kid. I can't imagine a younger egocentric you, you must have been a pain to you mother."
"Thank you that's very kind of you."
She ignored his sarcastic comment and continued "I still think it's bad you hold yourself responsible for his death. He did stop Cell from blowing the earth since he eventually killed himself in the process. You still got a win from this situation since your father was able to come back to life."
"You cannot say such things when you don't know the full story. Cell came back after it and my father remained dead. So no it wasn't a winning situation since this insect-like creature came back stronger than before."
She got up ready to leave and glared at him "There's no need to speak to me like this. You said it I wasn't there. If you're gonna talk to me like this I prefer to leave. Take your frustration on someone else, I don't need this."
He stopped her quickly "I'm sorry. You're right. The thing is that my dad died that day, and even though I knew he could come back, I still felt responsible. My siblings had to grow up without him and I felt it was my fault. And even though my father told me he was proud of me and of what I've became, I still couldn't look my mother in the eyes. She was there congratulating me for killing Cell and I just ran away because I couldn't hold the responsibility of my acts."
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be insensitive. The important now is that he's here. And wait what do you mean you killed Cell? We were ten back then, it's impossible. Just how strong are you?"
He smiled and looked at her "What else?"
"Yey another secret, lucky me. Anyways, my mom? The necklace and the letter and everything? How?"
He genuinely smiled at her and explained "The Turtle Master has a sister who is a fortuneteller. Since we can't bring your mom back to life, I asked if we could communicate with her. Baba eventually reached her and she offered her necklace when I asked for it as a birthday present to you. The letter was a bonus."
"So what you say is… this was actually the necklace my mom had. And she gave it to you? And she really was the one who wrote the letter?"
He smiled and looked at her "I told you someone wanted you to have it."
She instinctively hugged him and he reciprocated and waited for her to stop crying. Eventually, she let go of him and smiled at him "Thank you. It was already an amazing gift. Now I don't know what to say. That explains the inscriptions and the dent. But you know I still have so many questions on the subject."
"You're welcome. I'm glad you like them. And to answer one question I know you have, we couldn't bring her back to life since she died of natural causes. The other ones will wait for another time. Next question?"
"You really are telling me everything. I wonder what's gotten into you. Let's see. I wanna ask you something personal. Can you explain your hair color and tail? I found a picture of your dad in the same state, and I remember Vegeta did the same thing during the Cell Games. Are you related or anything?"
"I can't answer that one I'm sorry. You can ask anything else. And no we aren't related with Vegeta. He would kill us if we said we were family. But you can say we come from the same place."
"I thought too, just tried my luck. I have a lot questions to be honest. I wanna know about the scar on your shoulder and why you have difficulties using your arm. I also remember that during the Cell Games, I saw someone just like Mirai. And…"
"Videl slow down a bit. I don't think you came all this way just to ask me questions about the games. Stop going around the pot and ask clearly what's on your mind. All the other questions can wait."
"I guess you're right. I'm actually afraid of your answer. It's the same question as before actually, the one that ignited the fight. I wanna know why didn't you acknowledge me during the gala? You practically ignored me all night and even spent more time with this princess girl than with me. I know we hadn't have the labels discussion yet, but I still deserve a small explanation."
"You're right, I'm sorry. Truth is I'm afraid of your reaction if I answer."
"No more secrets. Try me. You can trust me Gohan. You easily opened up until now. And this concerns me as well. I think I have the right to know why was I treated like this."
He sighed and looked at her "You're right. Truth is, I'm afraid. Afraid of getting close to someone and lose them again. Afraid of making new mistakes and not protect the people I care about. Not being good enough or not present when they need me. I already made these mistakes at the Cell Games. I cannot live them again. Loosing someone close because I was careless, or hurting people I care about because of my reckless actions, these destroyed me once. I thought if I said you were only a friend, I could protect you and myself. I don't want you to become a target if you are close to me. I already worry enough as it is."
"Gohan, look at me. Trust me. Nothing will happen. I'm here and I will help. Stop being so afraid of losing someone. You focused so much on the past that you lost track of the world around you. Your dad is back, you have adorable siblings who idolize you, and you have a group of friends who loves and respects you. You need to appreciate these things more. Stop thinking something bad will happen and live a little. I know it's hard but we are here to help, and anytime you need something, you can always trust me."
"I know. I thought it would be easier that this. Lime helped me understand this. To be honest, I didn't think I would be able to lower my walls this much, and accept new friends in my life. Meeting you, Erasa and Sharpner really helped, even though I had decided that Lime was the last person I could accept in my life."
He looked into her eyes smiling at her and continued "Lime was also right on another thing. I wasn't treating you like I should have. I don't mean only publicly, I still need a lot of help on this. But I have to stop treating you like a friend because I'm afraid. She is right you are different. I care about you but not in the same way I care for my family or friends. It's different but a good different. I want to spend more time with you and if I have doubts about something, I feel the urge to ask you first. I don't know what this is, and I don't know if it's right or no. But I don't want you to feel left out. I want you to trust me and ask me stuff without backing down. Or if you feel the need to talk and open up to someone about anything, I want you to know that I'm here for you anytime. I don't know if this is how I should be with you or it's the same way we treat a friend. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm sorry if I don't know what to do but I want to learn and be there for you, if you accept to give me another chance."
She got up and held his hand so he could get up. She smiled at him wrapped her hands behind his neck "You really are socially unexperimented I'll give you that. But I guess it's what makes you who you are."
He laughed slightly at her "All is forgiven?"
"Not everything yet, but you are on the right track. I guess I could give you another chance, if you promise to keep up to everything you said earlier. Can you trust me Gohan? Can you talk to me when something's bothering you? Will you be willing to adapt to my character like I'm trying to adapt to yours? I don't want you to change, I just want you to understand what I'm feeling and let me into your life."
He nodded in agreement and she smiled at him before she lowered his head and kissed him gently. He noticed what happened and she could feel him smile as he reciprocated the kiss. She kept the kiss gentle and stopped it, knowing very well she didn't trust him enough at the moment but she couldn't help but smile at him as he placed his forehead on hers smiling.

After they made their way back to the Son's house, Gohan excused himself and retrieved the necklace to give it back to her. "I don't know if you still want it."
She faked a surprise when he handed it to her "You still have it? Why do I remember I saw you throw it?"
"I actually did… But my dad found it."
She took it and wore it "Remind me to thank him. You on the other hand were careless enough to throw it."
"Ha ha very funny. Do you want me to accompany you home? It's getting late."
"No it's fine. I'm not heading home, I have to find my father somewhere near North City. If I arrive any later to his charity dinner, I won't hear the end of it."
"How did he let you come here anyways?"
"I told him I wanted to see you and he agreed. Sort of."
"He's approving? Since when?"
"He's not really. It's a long story, I'll tell you later. Bye Gohan."
She kissed him again before she decapsulated her copter and left.

Their friends noticed the change in their relationship pretty easily and they were all happy that they were able to set their differences apart. Lime lost no time asking Gohan about his future plans and told him he needed to take her on a proper first date and he asked about them, claiming he knew nothing on the subject. She explained everything and he quickly got an idea and stepped aside to make a call. During the rest of the week, the group noticed that the half-Saiyan left school as soon as the classes ended and Mirai asked him what he was doing at CC every day. He explained that he asked Bulma for double shifts so he could have enough money to take Videl out. The latter caught him on Thursday and asked him if he wanted to hang out but he excused himself claiming he was busy. She was sad when he didn't tell her what he was doing and he quickly smiled at her "Trust me." She nodded at him and he kissed her on her forehead before leaving. Erasa asked her friend about it and she told her she didn't mind and she wanted him to trust her more. She hated when he kept things from her but she was willing to take the risk if it meant he could open up to her. Her best friend smiled at her "It's not my place I know but, if you feel like you can trust him again, I don't see a problem. I just don't want you to be hurt again."
"Thanks. But I don't think he is lying to me. When we last spoke, I think he was telling me the truth about him. He even opened up for the first time."
"I hope you're right. I know he is really nice but I still think there is something we're missing. Just be careful."
Videl nodded and they made their way out of the school's premises towards the city center and failed to notice Lime who overheard their conversation.

On Saturday morning, Videl woke up and went on her morning jog. While she was running, she heard her phone ring and saw Gohan's name "Hey. What's up?"
"Anything planned for tonight?"
"Not that I know of. Why?"
"Perfect. I'll pick you up at 8. You also might receive a small package later on."
"Gohan? What are you planning?"
"Nothing really. See ya."
She rolled her eyes and continued her run. When she came back home, the butler handed her the package and she went to her room to open it. She saw a simple red dress with a dark blue belt and saw a small message from Gohan

'Lime would have had my head if I didn't get you this. Hope youll like it. You dont have to wear it tonight, it was just a spur of the moment thing.'

She smiled and went to shower.

The night came and she decided to wear the dress I don't want him to think I didn't like it. I feel like I've wore more dresses in these past month than I ever did in my whole life. She wore her usual white sneakers and kept the pearl necklace with the ensemble. She was finalizing her clothes when she heard the doorbell ring and recognized Gohan's voice. She mentally slapped herself at being late and hoped her father wouldn't be home. It looked like Kami was taking a vacation this time because as soon as she reached the ground floor, she could hear her father talking with Gohan. She decided to eavesdrop, knowing very well that none of them would tell her anything about their discussion. She heard her dad scream at her classmate, talking about his character and anger issues, and to her horror she noticed he knew about their last fight and he reprimanded him. Gohan on the other hand, remained silent the whole time and waited for the champion to finish talking "You have all the rights to be angry. I can't promise you that it won't happen again, you said it yourself that I have anger issues and I'm working on them. But I can promise that I will do everything I can so it doesn't happen again."
"I'm only accepting because I never saw my daughter this happy. But if I learn again that she was sad, I don't care whose fault it is. You better treat her right."
"I will sir. I apologize again. I really like your daughter and I will do everything I can so she can be happy."
She blushed at what she heard and smiled He likes me? It's so weird to hear him say it. She noticed that she didn't focus on the rest of the conversation and decided it was time to save her friend from her overprotective dad. She gently knocked at the door and saw the half-Saiyan stare at her. "You look amazing."
She smiled at him and approached them "Thanks. What were you two talking about?"
"Nothing pumpkin. Just a man to man conversation."
"Sure daddy. We'll see you later."
"Don't stay up late, you hear me."
She nodded and they left the house. Gohan looked at her and smiled "I didn't think you would wear it. It really suits you."
"Thanks. Why did you get me a dress for?"
"I was shopping with Lime and she saw me look at it. She asked and I told her I thought it would suit you. She then scolded me and had me buy it."
"You really didn't have to. It must have been a nightmare going shopping with her."
"You have no idea. She claimed that I had no clothes for tonight. I still don't get her obsession with shopping."
"I feel the same with Erasa. But you look really nice. Navy really suits you. Even though when you wear black, it works with your hair and eyes."
He blushed and thanked her and looked back at his clothes. He was wearing a navy pant and a white shirt and rolled up sleeves, a loosen tie and a black belt. He added the watch she got him but decided to go with a little sports style and wore black sneakers instead of regular boots. They eventually reached the city center and he directed her to the restaurant. She froze when she saw it and looked at her friend "Umm… Gohan? Where are you going?"
"We have a reservation. Come on."
"Gohan it's the most expensive restaurant in town. What are you doing?"
"What? It's not good? Lime told me I had to take you out on expensive restaurants on dates. I panicked since I don't really know the difference between them so I booked that one."
"You really didn't need to book the most expensive one."
"But it's not a date if it's not fancy. No?"
She laughed at him "Gohan. Anything can be a date. The picnic we had on your birthday can be counted as one. It's the company that counts."
"Well if that's the case, I didn't know. It doesn't matter, you deserve a fancy restaurant once in a while. We can always go to regular places later on. You can also considerate my apology diner for last time."
She looked at him smiling and followed him into the restaurant. After they were seated and ordered their food, she asked "I really don't mean to be harsh, but how can you afford this night?"
"I asked Bulma for more shifts at CC. I work there part-time to learn more about the company so I can work there when I graduate. She accepted. That's why I left school in a hurry every day. I didn't wanna tell you to keep the surprise. I'm sorry though I wasn't able to get you a proper gift, I couldn't fit more hours into my schedule."
"You really shouldn't have. I already told you I really don't care about this stuff. And what do you mean a gift, this dress is amazing really. I feel like I'm yelling at you like at Valentine's. Seriously Gohan, wealth and expensive gifts aren't important, stop being this afraid that anything you'll do won't be enough."
"I know. Thanks."
While they were talking, they didn't notice a middle-aged couple coming in their direction. Gohan looked and recognized them before he got up to greet them "Mr. and Mrs. Hito. What a pleasant surprise."
"Good evening Gohan. How are you?"
"I'm fine thank you. Let me introduce you. Videl these are Mr. and Mrs. Hito, they work at CC in the mechanical and biology departments. This is Videl, my date for tonight."
She got up to greeted them and they smiled at her "So that's the girl you've been talking about? Looks like these extra shifts were worth it."
She blushed at the comment and looked at Gohan who smiled at her.
"Yes, they sure were. Would you like to join us?"
"No thank you, we're going to let you enjoy your evening." They excused themselves and left. Videl looked at Gohan and decided to tease him "So, you talk about me at work?"
He was caught off guard and scratched the back of his neck stuttering "Umm… yeah. Kind off."
"Gohan I'm teasing you. You're really cute when you blush." He reddened at the comment before they laughed and continued their evening.

Once they finished, Gohan noticed it was still early and they decided to take a walk. They found their way to their usual spot and smiled at the scenery. After a minute of silence, Gohan extended his hand to Videl and smiled. "Gohan? What are you doing?"
"Well we weren't able to spend time properly during the gala, you know with the whole Kara and I'm an idiot part. But we still managed to dance together and I really liked this moment. So if you don't mind, would you like to dance?"
She blushed at him and laughed "You intend to dance without music?"
"You will be fascinated at how good I am."
"You sure are. Sure it will be fun, I'll choose a song from my phone."
"Right, I forgot we could do that."
She rolled her eyes at him and played a song while he held her and started to turn her "I really had fun when we danced. It was the first time I actually felt like you cared for me."
"Seriously? I do all these nice things for you and it's not enough to please miss Videl Satan?"
"Ha ha very funny. You know what I meant."
"No not really. I personally feel like everything I do feels like it."
She gently taped him on his shoulder, and he laughed at her "You really are annoying you know that."
"I'll take it as a compliment. But yeah, I understood what you meant. I will make sure to always make you feel this way."
She smiled at him and they ignore the music playing, each looking into the other's eyes. She closed her eyes and embraced him and he returned the hug and heard her whisper in his ear "I feel safe when I'm with you. I like you a lot. You don't need to say anything, I just wanted you to know."
He deepened the hug before he released his grip and kissed her and she quickly responded, deepening the kiss. She knew he wasn't able to say it out loud, but she could feel he reciprocated her feelings.
When they felt it was getting late, Gohan accompanied Videl back "I should really ask Bulma for a car."
"Why? I like walking with you. Besides, the weather is really nice."
He smiled at her and stopped at the gates "I don't know. I feel bad that I can't afford one to bring you back and you have to walk. So umm… had fun tonight?"
"More than you can imagine. The restaurant was amazing. But please don't do it again. It was really thoughtful but I'd rather see you every day and don't go to restaurants, than see you once in a while because you doubled your shifts. And again, I don't care about the car, honest. I like walking with you, we get to spend more time together. And my guess is you can tell by yourself if I liked the rest of the evening. I can't wait to do it again. Maybe next time we will be able to finish a whole song."
He laughed at her and nodded before he caught her by her waist and kissed her. She smiled and kissed him back before breaking the embrace and waved him good night.

She woke up the next day and saw a text from Erasa who asked her to see her and she rolled her eyes at her friend's curiosity and laughed. She answered and went to shower.

Less than ten days passed since their first date and Gohan and Videl grew closer. They tried to pass as much time as possible between their final school days and Gohan's training. But, one day, Mirai told him that his father wanted to train with them and they excused themselves. The boys went in their direction while the girls decided to have a girls' day, benefiting from their week off school. It should be their reading period as they were getting awfully close to their finals, but one final day out wouldn't hurt anyone.

Gohan was surprised when he saw Vegeta waiting for them with Goku "Brats. What took you this long?"
"Vegeta, what's the hurry. We have all day."
"Shut up Kakarot."
Gohan looked at them "Vegeta, why do you wanna train with us?"
"I need a good spar. And I thought I'd see if you made any progress. I'm sure you stopped your training since you found that mate of yours."
They all rolled their eyes and divided themselves to train. They barely got the time to start they sensed Piccolo coming their way, his Ki spiking. They waited for him and he came to them "Come on fast. Something's not right."
They all nodded and followed him to an empty valley. They saw a tall figure standing and quickly recognized the hair "Raditz?"
"Yes. Dende saw him. I don't know how he got here."
They approached him and he saw them and smirked. Goku quickly glared at his brother and got into a defensive stance "Raditz. What are you doing here?"
"I saw an opening and escaped. Aren't you happy to see me, brother?"
"An opening? How? We didn't hear anything about Hell opening."
"Hell is not opening. It's something worse."
Vegeta looked at him and grunted "How did a weakling like you managed to escape?"
"Traitor. I will show you."
Raditz lost no time attacking Vegeta who easily dodged him. They noticed he was a little bit stronger than the first time they fought him and they tried to analyze the situation, not understanding how. Eventually, Vegeta attacked him from behind and easily knocked him out. He prepared an attack to finish him before Piccolo stopped him "Wait. We still need answers."
"No one commands the Prince of all Saiyans." And with that he sent his attacked which decimated his opponent.
Gohan looked at him angrily "What's gotten into you? He was our only clue."
"Stop talking brat, or you'll follow him."
Mirai quickly stepped between them and calmed them down. They all decided to go to King Kai and try to get more answers.

The girls on their side decided to get something to eat and Videl was able to convince her friends to go to the park instead of the mall, claiming the weather was beautiful. They finished eating their burgers and were walking. The girls asked about her relationship with Gohan and she told them it was getting better. She told them about their date and they had stars in their eyes when she described the night. They eventually asked her about their status and she claimed that they didn't really put the labels, knowing very well Gohan's character. She knew it was a big step for him to trust someone and get this close and Lime agreed and told her to not bother about it; and Videl told them she overheard him tell her father he liked her, and she was hoping he could find the courage to say it to her soon. She asked her about his trust issues and was glad when Videl told her he opened up, but Lime couldn't find it in herself to tell her he was still hiding things from her. She recalled her discussion with the half-Saiyan at the mall and the scolding he got for lying to her again to her face but he promised to eventually tell her the truth.
They decided to continue their walk while the girls continued to tease their friend about her love life, however, their day couldn't finish without problems, much to the trio's dislike. The girls heard Videl grunt and she started to scream in pain as she was holding her head. They were alarmed but didn't know what to do as she was screaming more and more. Erasa approached her to hold her while calling her name to get her attention but she barely got the time to reach her, she saw her friend's legs giving up and noticed she was fainting. She rushed to catch her fall and she started screaming her name to try to wake her up. Lime panicked and called an ambulance. They got into the car with her and explained everything to the paramedics as they made their way to the nearest hospital.

I hope you liked the backstories of the new villains. Things will start to evolve from the next chapter. I hope the Gohan and Videl relationship is well portrayed, I wanted to incorporate a little teenage drama based on their characters. Will see what will happen with all of Gohan's secret and with Videl's headaches.
