Chapter 11

The next morning, Leonard helped Penny get into the bathroom to clean up and relieve herself. Beverly came back to the hospital with a few clothes for William and Leonard so they could freshen up as well. She also brought some breakfast so they could eat together in the hospital room where Penny and the baby are staying.

After washing up and getting dressed in the bathroom, Penny returned and sat up on the bed with Sarah still sleeping soundly on the bassinet. This gave her time to eat breakfast with her family and rest for a while. Leonard looked over at her daughter and can't keep himself from smiling at how beautiful Sarah was.

"She really takes after you honey. I mean, look at how she sleeps. Your arms are even the same when you're sleeping." said Leonard.

"I don't know if I'm gonna be happy or furious with what you just said." Penny said to Leonard.

"It's a compliment honey." Leonard said smiling at her.

"Mommy, when are we going home?" asked William.

"I'm not sure sweetie. We'll go home when the doctor says so." said Penny as they continued eating when Sarah suddenly awoke, crying her lungs out. Penny went to check up on her baby and saw that she needed a diaper change. Leonard came over and helped her put on a new diaper on Sarah. Penny then carried Sarah in her arms while Leonard took out his phone to Skype Wyatt and Susan. After a few rings, Susan picked up as Leonard tried to focus his phone on his wife and baby.

"Hi mom. Look who I got here!" Penny said showing Susan her baby.

"Oh my god Penny! She looks just like you! This is so amazing!" Susan said. "Wyatt come in here quick!" Susan shouted at her husband. Wyatt sat beside Susan and tried to focus his eyes on the screen.

"Wow! She's like a miniature Penny!" said Wyatt.

S: "Look at her, she's so beautiful! I so proud of you Penny!"

P: "Thanks mom! William and Beverly have been a lot of help to me for the past couple of weeks. Right sweetie!?" she said as William jumped in front of the screen.

Wi: "Hi grandma! When are you gonna come here?"

S: "Uh probably next week honey."

Wi: "Why take so long? You should see Sarah up close grandma. She's as pretty as mommy." he said making Penny teary eyed.

S: "I know honey but we have to finish some stuff here first."

Wi: "Okay grandma."

W: "Don't worry son, we'll be there before you know it." said Wyatt.

Wi: "Okay grandpa. Don't worry, I'll take care of mommy and Sarah until you come over."

P: "That's my boy. Good job sweetie."

S: "Good job honey and Beverly, thank you for staying with Penny and helping her out. It really means a lot to us."

B: "Don't mention it Susan. William here has been keeping me on my toes."

They continued to video-chat for the next ten minutes.

L: "Well I guess that's it. We'll call you again tomorrow."

S: "Okay. Bye you guys!"

Wi: "Bye grandma! Bye Grandpa!" William said as Leonard hung up the phone. He then scrolled on his phone to call Alfred.

"Who are you calling now honey?" Penny asked.

"My dad." he said as the phone rang. Alfred picked up after a few rings. "Hi dad! I want you to meet your granddaughter!" he said as he focused his phone on Penny and Sarah.

A: "Oh my god! She looks just like Penny! That is so amazing!"

Wi: "She's so pretty grandpa!"

A: "You're right son. Congratulations Penny!"

P: "Thank you Alfred. It wouldn't have been easier if Beverly wasn't here to help me out."

A: "Beverly's there?" Leonard then focused the phone on his mother.

B: "Hello Alfred. Nice to see you again." said Beverly, surprising Leonard and Penny.

A: "Hi Beverly! Its nice to see you too. You look different, but in a good way."

B: "Thank you. You don't look so bad yourself." she said making Penny and Leonard smile at each other.

Wi: "When are you gonna visit us grandpa?"

A: "I'll try to squeeze in a few days son. I promise."

Wi: "Okay grandpa. Just don't take too long okay?"

A: "You got it son." he said laughing.

L: "Okay, I'm gonna hang up now dad. We'll see you soon alright?"

A: "Yeah, I'll see you all soon. Bye Beverly. Bye William!"

Wi: "Bye grandpa!"

B: "Bye." said Beverly as Leonard hung up his phone.

"Grandma, are you gonna wait for grandpa to arrive?" asked William, surprising the three.

"Uh, I don't know dear. I'm gonna stay for another week but I have to get back to New Jersey after that." said Beverly.

William nodded. "Okay grandma." he said as Penny put the baby back on the bassinet. Sarah stirred a little then went quickly back to sleep.

The family stayed in the hospital for two days with Leonard and Beverly alternating in watching over Penny and Sarah while also taking care of William. Leonard would usually stay with Penny and the baby during the night while Beverly took William home to bring him back to the hospital in the morning.

After two days, the doctor gave Penny her discharge papers, wishing the family good luck in raising their daughter with William happy to finally go home with his parents and baby sister.
