X - Mariana Trench
I woke up the next morning to find Freya gone. However, there was a note on my bedside table saying:
Hey Baby, thanks for last night. If you're ever in Asgard again hit me up.
I shook my head I probably wouldn't. I loved somebody else and I regret the night before. Though it was nice to say that after 100s of years I was no longer a virgin.
I got up and took a nice long shower then making sure I had everything, I left crossed the rainbow bridge and had Heimdall send me back to Midgard. I landed on the outskirts of the fishing village and after boarding my boat sailed back toward Germany.
I was at the wheel when the giant tentacles smashed onto my boat. Before I had time to blink one grabbed me and hurled me into the sea. I quickly swam to the surface to see my boat smashed to bits. I swam down and Suddenly the water became cold, colder than ice.
I could feel something from deep below me slowly rise up. I couldn't feel it, it didn't feel...natural. I could sense every creature in the sea, but this one well a part of it….felt wrong. Like an area of the sea that just didn't exist. And it was now swimming right for me.
Whatever was coming for me felt powerful and dangerous. I knew I had every advantage right now being in the sea, but still, something made me scared, I didn't want to see what was coming.
I started swimming. I had nowhere to swim to but I knew I had to be away from whatever this creature was. Suddenly the water became thicker and harder to move in. I could feel the cold reach my ankles and slowly climb upwards. I kicked harder allowing myself to outrun the coldness. my heart started to pound itself faster and faster. I couldn't hear anything other than my own heartbeat. I had not been in the ocean in years. The only reason I was swimming so well was due to my abilities in water.
Just then something grabbed me by the hip. I looked down and saw a giant tentacle wrapped around me. I commanded the water around me to push the tentacle off but it would not budge.
I slowly started to suffocate, it was like the water was fighting against me. Like somehow this creature and I were fighting for control. And it was winning.
My brain started to panic. I tugged and pulled trying to free myself but nothing worked. My mind was going crazy, I thrashed around trying to wiggle out until I gave up. I knew that I needed to be calm to get myself out of this mess.
I stopped moving as I was slowly dragged deeper into the ocean. I closed my eyes and quickly thought up a plan. I opened my eyes and pulled on the darkness around me using my powers overshadow to cut off the tentacle clutching at me.
"ARGH!" A roar came out from underneath the depths of the sea as I freed myself swimming upwards.
I dodged and swam around several tentacles coming up to try and grab me. I moved the shadows to intercept and cut all of them before they could even reach me and when I was far enough away from the creature l felt myself regain the ability to breathe underwater.
I swam toward the lighter part of the ocean and looked down. Below me slowly coming out of the darkness was a creature that looked almost like the Kraken, a giant crab, and an eel had a baby. Imagine the Kraken. Large tentacles, giant mouth with multiple sets up teeth. Now Imagine the Kraken had grey scaly crab-like armor covering its body. Below it's giant Kraken upper body it had 8 pairs of giant lobster claws attached to a long and slimy. Finally, at the end of its tail, it had giant spikes.
I looked into its eyes and I felt my very soul shiver in fear. It's tentacles reached around me, cutting off all escape routes. I was stuck. The Monstrosity looked at me with its numerous unwavering red eyes and I stared back. I had gotten into many staring contests with higher beings. I feel like I've broken a record or something.
The monster opened its large mouth revealing thousands of teeth underneath, "Now you shall die Sea Legacy." It roared sending ripples through the water and loud enough that I felt the roar in my bones.
Suddenly a name appeared to me. Janai'go.
In my library at the House of Nyx, I had a very old scroll. It was short and aged and I had to place it in a sealed container so that it would not decompose. The scroll was of the Great old ones.
Not much is known about them. Not how they were made. Not where they are. It only gives the 4 primary names and a short description of each of them. I remembered where I had heard that name. All that it said was that he was a servant of Cthulhu - The Ocean.
Suddenly I felt something being injected into me from a tentacle that I hadn't seen shooting toward him. I yelled out in pain as I formed a sword made of ice and shadows cutting the tentacles away. I looked down and saw a big redbone now embedded into my side. I could feel the poison spread and knew what to do.
I pulled the fang out and encased half my chest in ice stopping the poison from spreading. I sighed this was going to leave a mark. In the time I was distracted 4 tentacles shot out encasing my limbs. I felt as if my body was being ripped in two.
I felt my Aura start to grow stronger and stronger. Water and darkness started to draw closer. I felt a growing pain in my chest. It was like my powers were collecting inside of me ready to explode. Suddenly water combined with a dark light exploded out of my body. It was like I was a bomb that had just exploded. I saw it collect together in a large beam facing toward Janai'go and Boom!
Water was pushed aside as a dark purple beam surrounded by a swirling icy blue cut through the ocean smashing right into the head of Janai'ngo. Darkness took over me as I let out the remains of my energy. Before my eyes fully closed I saw the creature with a now giant hole in the top of its head drift back into the depths of the ocean. I knew I had hurt it, but I knew it wasn't dead.
I awoke to a soft hand wiping my brow. Opening my eyes I saw a beautiful mermaid. She had her long silver hair tied into a ponytail and sea blue eyes. Her scales were red and she wore red shells around her breasts. She had a cute smile and her eyes seemed to glint with happiness.
She hadn't realized I was awake yet. So I decided to make my presence known. "Hey," I said staring up at her. She looked at me in shock for a moment before giggled, when she realized what she had done she blushed and covered her mouth with one of her petite hands I chuckled.
Slowly I sat up. I was still underwater and I seemed to be in a hospital tent. My shirt was off. Looking down at my side I noticed my new scar. I groaned inwardly, I had way too many scars. I looked at the mermaid. "Where am I?" I asked.
"You're in the hospital ward at the main base of operations outside of the Mariana trench." She said it in a very matter of fact way.
I was about to ask more questions when a gruff old merman looking being appeared through the flap of the tent. He had long grey hair and a short stubble beard. His skin was red and his left arm was that of a crab's while his right arm was more humanoid but was covered in crab armor on the forearm. He had a silver mer-tail.
He dismissed the Mermaid and sat down next to me. "What's your name?" he said in a deep voice.
"Perseus," I responded.
"What are you? I sense the sea in you?"
"I'm a legacy of Poseidon sir." I didn't know why but I felt I could trust this being.
He looked at me with no surprise at all. "Do you know where yer are?" he asked me.
"The Mariana trench I'm told. But I don't understand, why is there a base here? Also, who are you?"
He nodded and we sat quietly for a while. It was like he was wondering how much he should tell me. Finally, he spoke. "My name is Phorcys god of the dangers of the sea and General of Poseidon's army in the war of the Mariana trench."
I looked at him questioningly.
"The war of the Mariana trench be one of the oldest wars in the history of dis world. It been going on since the time of Pontus and the Primordials. The enemy be called the Trenchers. They're like skeletons but covered in scales and their backs and arms have sharp fins. Their mouth be the dangerous part. Their teeth containing a poison that will quickly spread to your heart killing you dead and their mouth be like an angler fish. We don't know their leader but each king of the sea have had their share in fighting em."
I nodded solemnly. The flame would be in Germany for many more years, I had time. "How can I help?"
He gave me a toothy grin. "I knew there was a reason I liked you. Come let us go outside."
I got out of bed feeling my muscles crack. Walking outside I found myself close to the surface but still underwater. In front of me, however, was a giant hole that was too deep to see to the bottom.
Phorcys turned to me quickly "you ain't a legacy of Poseidon here." he said sternally "you're to tell people you be a water magi who is a legacy of a sea god. Mentioning the king will only bring too much attention to yerself."
I nodded.
"Now let's see how well you fight on the ocean floor."
I was a very skilled fighter. I trained with Tartarus and god's from different Pantheons. But fighting underwater, even though my water powers gave me an advantage, was very different than fighting on land. It took me almost a year to completely master the skill. It helped when I learned I could manipulate if I sank or floated.
I learned many new weapon forms while I was there. I learned to wield an Atlantean spear, and I got my own pair of water bearers. Waterbearers allow the wielder to form any weapon out of water. All the wielder has to do is pour some of their hydro powers into it then they become bonded with you. I had 2, one for each hand. I slotted them onto my belt.
I fought in the trenches for 15 years. I was known as one of the best soldiers the army had. I took out thousands of trenchers by myself. In my 7th year under the sea, Phorcys made me one of his captains. He was a good friend and leader.
In my 15th year as a soldier in Poseidon's army, I faced the Basatan. The brother of Janai'go. A giant crab hybrid. I killed him but I had little energy left after my fight. I was quickly overwhelmed by the remaining Trenchers, my powers lashed out creating an explosion killing all the trenchers in a 10-mile radius. But I fell unconscious and the sea carried me to the next place on my journey through the world.
[A.N: Well I'm not sure about that chapter but it has some good info for later. Also, I know Phorcys joins the titans in the second titan war, and while he still may do that. I like the bond that Perseus and Phorcys share in my story.]
