CHAPTER 11: AN OPPORTUNITY
It was just another common pracitising day in the life of Bladebreakers. They were currently at the dojo training area where Tyson was battling Ray.
"Go Dragoooon!" Tyson yelled.
"Drigger! Attack!" Ray commanded.
Both the bitbeasts followed their masters as they came out of the beyblades.
"Is that all Tyson?" Ray asked teasingly.
Tyson chuckled. "Not at all Ray. It's called 'The Beginning of Tyson Granger's Mighty attack'." He answered confidently but was pissed off on hearing Hilary's laughter.
"Really Tys?" She asked still laughing "I think it's called 'Beginning of Tyson Granger's Foolishness'."
"Will you please let me concentrate?!" Tyson yelled.
"Awww..." Hilary said pinching his cheeks. "Little Tyson's angry with me? Now what will I do?" She said dramatically as Max started laughing, much to Tyson's annoyance.
"Tyson. Concentrate!" Kai said giving his world-famous death glare to all of them.
"I am concentrating!" He yelled and focused on the match again.
"Come on Tyson." Ray said "Come at Drigger seriously!"
"I will" He replied smirking "So will my Dragoon."
"That's it Tyson! DRIGGER BAIHOU CLAW!"
"Here I go! DRAGOOOON GALAXY! RISING HURRICANE!"
Hilary gasped. 'Rising Hurricane? Baihou Claw? Oh no! These are their special attacks. This shouldn't happen again. Last time Kai and Tyson somehow survived such massive attacks, but can Ray take it? And what about Tyson? Will he be able to take the attacks again?'
And the brunette's worries became reality. As soon as drigger's claw attacked Dragoon, Tyson felt a huge throbbing pain in his chest as he placed his hand there to ease the pain, but failed miserably.
"Tyson! Ray! Please stop!" Hilary shouted but the two were too absorbed in their own world.
"TYSON!" She yelled again.
And then the unwanted happened. A huge blast occured throwing all of them away, but this time, the bladers were standing still.
Max opened his eyes and saw that Hilary, Kenny and Kai have just woke up like him.
"TYSON!" Hilary exclaimed running towards the blunette who was standing still, face turned downwards.
As soon as she went near him, he fainted in the same position and was about to fell down when Hilary supported him.
"KAI!" She yelled as he came near her to support Tyson.
They all were now sitting inside the dojo. Tyson was still unconcious. Hilary was sitting beside and cooing to him slowly. Ray had gained conciousness and had an injury on his forehead.
Slowly, Tyson's eyes opened. "H-Hils?"
Hilary's eyes opened on hearing his voice. She looked at him with red and puffy eyes. Tyson was expecting her to yell at him like always. But it never happened. She slowly stood up and returned with all the first aid to be given.
"Tyson!" Kenny and Max exclaimed with joy. But his focus was somewhere else.
"Hilary?" He asked to the brunette who was dipping a towel in a bowl full of water.
"Hmmn?" She signalled that she was listening but didn't make eye contact.
"Why are you not yelling some sense in me as usual?" He knew this wasn't the best question to be asked but still.
"Because it's of no use Tyson." She answered coldly "It's of no use."
Tyson's heart sank on hearing this. He didn't want to hear this from her.
"W-What do you mean?" He asked stuttering.
"I know you would never listen to me. This will happen everytime." She said.
Tyson was about to argue back when the lazy creep interrupted again.
"ARE YOU DONE?!" Taidako eclaimed from behind as they all screamed in terror yet again.
Tyson groaned. "That's enough you creep!" He yelled.
All the Bladebreakers looked at him, shocked by his actions.
"That's enough now! You Creep! You were supposed to train us not to just pop up any second and annoy us like this!" He yelled out of fury.
Taidako simply stared at him and then spoke up, "You think I am interested in training you little bakas? I am here to just eat free food and sleep to my fullest."
That was it. Tyson can't take it anymore. He grabbed Taidako by his collar, shaking him furiously. "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!" He yelled.
"Tyson!"
"Leave him Tyson!"
"Tyson!"
Finally, when Kai separated Tyson from Taidako, He pulled out his beyblade and positioned it in it's launcher.
"I Challenge You!" Tyson said pointing the launcher at him.
Taidako smirked. "You wanna pretend to be a hero?"
"Pretending is for creeps like you. I challenge you." He said calmly.
"Okay then." Taidako said lifting his sleeping bag and going out.
"A warm welcome to all my brothers and their dear sisters." Max said standing on the dining table with a toy mic in hand. "I am DJ Mizuhara Tate and we're here in the Kinomiya Grangers' Kitchen with Master Chef Hilary as our honorable cook."
"Just stop it Maxie." Ray said chuckling at Max's mimicry.
"Why are we here anyways?" Kenny asked annoyed as he looked in his laptop "I thought Tyson challenged Taidako for a beybattle not a food battle."
"Yes he did Chief. But Taidako said it would be a 'So-called-Food-Battle'." Ray explained.
"Done!" Hilary exclaimed "I've finally made a total of 50 Panyas!"
"That's great!" Max said coming down from the table. "It would be easy for Tyson to eat them. It's his favorite dish after all."
Hilary's cooking have always been unpredictable with some dishes she completely ruins everytime while the others where no one else can defeat her. And Panya was one of the few dishes she had mastered. Call it coincidence or what, it's Tyson's favorite dish too.
Just then Tyson entered the kitchen with a really annoyed expression.
"It's okay Tyson." Max assured his friend "Defeating Taidako will be a piece of cake for you when you have to eat Hilary's Special Panyas!"
"Really?" Tyson said as a huge smile spread on his face "You've made Panya Hils?"
Hilary nodded merrily. Tyson spranged forward towards the brunette. He held both her hands in his own and began shaking them.
"Thanks a lot Hils! You're a real great cook!" He said happily, as Hilary shook his hands back with equal joy.
Hilary giggled before answering, "Thank you Tysie."
Suddenly, Tyson stopped shaking her hands and looked at her seriously. "I never said that Hils" He began "But your cooking has improved a lot."
"Really?" Hilary asked amazed by his sudden softness as Tyson nodded.
"Are you done?" Taidako said entering the kitchen. Tyson's blood boiled. 'Why does he have to enter whenever I'm talking to her?" He thought angrily as he let go of her hands.
"Did I..." Taidako said skeptically "Interrupt something? You two are a pretty cute couple you know."
"NO WE AREN'T!" They both yelled together.
Before he could say anything, Ray decided to step in. "Well you're finally here. Let's begin the battle then."
"And the most awaited moment is here. The battle has begun and the score is..." Max said looking at the chalkboard maintained by Kenny. "And the score is, Taidako 20 and Tyson 17 Panyas!"
"Come on Tys!" Hilary and Ray cheered on him.
Finally, The outcome has come. Even after trying his best, Tyson couldn't finish the last piece of Panya left, thus loosing by the score Taidako 25 and Tyson 24 Panyas.
"Ohhh... My stomach!" Tyson whined as he laid on his bed, whining with pain.
"It'll be okay Tys" Hilary said mixing an antacid in a glass of water. "Here, Take this."
"I hate Panyas!" He whined again.
"Come on Tyson." Max said "It's your favourite right?"
"It is! It is! But from now on, IT ISN'T! Hilary's a horrible cook!" He yelled with pain.
A vein popped up on Hilary's forehead. "What do you mean?! First you said I'm a real great cook, and now you're complaining like this?!"
"It isn't my fault! I said that before I got hospitalized by eating them!"
"Stop it Tyson." Ray said before Hilary could respond to Tyson. "That's enough. It's not Hilary's fault either. You are in this condition because you ate a lot."
"Ohhh... My stomach!" Tyson yelled clutching his stomach tighter.
Hilary hurriedly handed him a acidity tablet and a glass of water.
"Thanks" He said gulping the tablet with the water. "... And sorry too."
Hilary's heart skipped a beat. "I-It's okay Tyson."
Cool breezes were blowing ruffling the hair of two teens standing under a cherry-blossom tree.
"Why did you call me here Tys?" Hilary asked confused by his actions.
"I-I have to tell you something." He replied stuttering nervously as a faint blush crept on his cheeks.
Hilary noticed that he was uncomfortable. She kept her hand on his shoulder, soothing him. "Don't worry Tys. We are best friends since we were five. Feel free to share anything."
Tyson took a deep breath and said, "It would be better to show you instead of saying."
Hilary's heart stopped as Tyson slowly cupped her right cheek with his left hand and wrapped his other hand around her waist. He slowly leaned down till his lips met hers in a soft loving kiss. She melted in the most beautiful moment of her life.
He slowly parted away after sometime, resting his forehead upon hers, he whispered, "Ashiteru Hiromi..."
Hilary woke up with a start. She was huffing and sweating madly. She was on her bed and the sun had risen already.
"What the hell was that?" She asked to herself. Then realization dawned upon her. "I dreamt of Tyson... Kissing me?"
It was the first time she had such dream. She knew that she had a crush on Tyson since she was 13, but never had she dreamt of Tyson kissing her.
"What does this mean anyways?" She said.
Lost in her thoughts, she got up to get dressed. She looked at the time. '9:00. OMG! I overslept! And no one woke me up?'
She walked out of the room, into the kitchen and saw that Ray was standing there, preparing the breakfast.
"Morning Ray." She greeted sitting on the dining table.
"Morning Hilary." He said with a smile. "I thought you needed some rest so I didn't wake you up."
"It's okay."
Suddenly, they heard a yawn from behind. It was Tyson with a MP3 player in his hand, earphones plugged in his ear.
'Calm down Hilary.' She thought as blood rushed to her cheeks on remembering the dream. 'Act normally or else he would know something is fishy.'
Tyson lazily sat on the chair beside Hilary and began his daily routine which was taking out one earphone from his ear and plugging it in Hilary's ear. She shivered as his fingers brushed against her ear. It wasn't something new. This was their routine to listen to some songs together whenever they got time, and the time before breakfast was one of them.
"Morning Hils!" He greeted cheerfully "Which song you want to hear today?" He asked but did not gat a response.
Tyson turned his gaze towards Hilary. "Hils?" Hilary was still blushing madly.
"Hilary?!" He said a little loudly which caused the brunette to look at him. "Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah." She answered taking the earphone out of her ear "I got some work to do. Will be back soon!" She said hurriedly running out of the room.
"What was that?" Ray asked.
"I don't know." Tyson said bewildered.
Ray sighed. "Girls are very tough to understand."
"You think so?" Tyson asked "I understand Hilary very well." He said proudly.
"Really? How so?"
"We're best friends since I was six. We know every little thing about each other."
"I and Mariah have been friends since she started to crawl." Ray said "But still we don't know each others' secrets so well."
Tyson chuckled. "Maybe because you both don't spend much time together."
"Yeah." Ray replied "By the way, Have you told your every secret to Hilary?"
"Yes!" He proudly said.
"No you haven't." Ray said smirking "You haven't told her that you love her."
"WHAT?!" Tyson yelled "No, I don't!"
"Yes you do." Ray said teasingly "And I know it."
Hilary was walked into the kitchen to prepare breakfast. As she was doing her job, a cell phone kept on the table rang.
"It's Kai's phone." She said sighing "Don't I love my dear life that I would dare picking his calls?"
But when the phone rang for the third time, Hilary yelled, "KAI! KAI! Are you here?!"
No response. Hilary sighed, even if he would be here, he would barely answer.
"Ray?!" Hilary yelled.
"Yes Hilary?" He answered back from outside.
Hilary chuckled. Ray never left a girl unattended. "Is Kai with you all?"
"I don't think so." He said "I guess he left already. Might be out playing 'The Lone Wolf'." He added with a small chuckle.
"You're right." Hilary said laughing.
The call rang again. Now Hilary groaned and went to pick the call.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Hello. Dear young lady, I am Mr. Kohei Morito, The owner of Tsuki-Tsuki Company. May I speak to Kai Hiwatari?" An old man answered.
"Sorry sir. I'm afraid he's not here at present. Although, you can share your concerns with me, if you want, I'll inform him about it."
"Well, Who're you? Kai's girlfriend?"
"WHAT?! No I amn't! I'm the manager of the Bladebreakers."
"Oh. I see. But I'd be glad if I could talk with Hiwatari-Kun."
A vein popped up on Hilary's forehead. "Sir, I already told you he's not here!"
"Umm... Okay. But I wanted to talk about some sponsorship business, but why bother?" The man said.
A bright smile grew on her face as she said, "Sponsorship?! Well yes! It's a matter to bother about! Wait a sec sir, Captain Kai is not here, but if you want, I can get you a convo with our team's top-playing blader!"
"That's Kinomi Tyler Ranger, I guess?"
Hilary sighed defeatedly. "Actually, Sir, It's Kinomiya Tyson Granger."
"Oh yes. My fault. Yes please, I can talk about this to him."
Hilary happily spranged into Tyson's room with the phone.
"Hey Hils?" He asked not looking at her as he was busy searching something in a pile of clothes "Have you seen my red jacket?"
"Tyson." Hilary whispered "Here." She said handing him the phone.
"What?" He asked confused.
"Talk." She answered matter-of-factly.
"Hello?" He said on the phone "Kinomiya Tyson Granger this side."
"Hello Kinomiya-Kun." The old man answered.
Max and Ray were sitting in the big training room, playing chess.
"You are trapped Neko-jin." Max said chuckling.
"Really?" Ray asked smirking "I guess you are to immature to play chess Maxie. This game is for grown-ups, you should play ludo perhaps."
Max made a face while Kenny laughed loudly at the comment.
Ray chuckled. "Just kidding Maxie. What I wanted to say was 'GAME OVER'!" He exclaimed throwing Max's king away with his bishop.
"What?" Max whined "I lost again?!"
"Told ya. This game's not for you, go and play snake-ladders." Ray said mockingly.
BANG!
All of them flinched in surprise as the door opened revealing very excited Tyson and Hilary.
"Hey guys?" Ray asked still trying to recover from the sudden appearance. "What's up?"
"WE HAVE ARRANGED THE TEAM FUNDINGS!" They both exclaimed happily, holding each others hands out of joy, as Hilary happily swung Tyson along with her in a Merry-go-round.
"WHAT?!" Max, Ray and Kenny exclaimed shocked.
"We have arranged the team fundings!" Tyson repeated happily.
"WHAT?!" They yelled again.
"We have arranged the team fundings!" Hilary said joyfully.
"WHAT?!"
And before either Tyson or Hilary could repeat again, Kai entered the room.
"A rich businessman named Mr. Kohei Morito is interested in sponsoring our team, which means that all the tournament payments will be made by him only." Kai said coldly.
"WHAT?!" Max, Ray and Kenny yelled again.
Kai sighed defeatedly. They're impossible to handle.
The Bladebreakers were now sitting in the room, lost in deep thoughts. They had to decide who will go to meet the man as they had to go Osaka. But this wasn't the issue. The problem was that only two people can go there.
Why? Because they didn't have enough money to afford the metro expenses. Typical. They were the world champion team but today wasn't their lucky day as their pockets were empty and grandpa had gone out for some work, which means they can't borrow from anyone.
They all were sitting in a circle, with some money lying in the middle.
"So guys." Tyson began with his eyes closed and arms crossed, deep in thought "I've already decided. Kai and I will go."
"Excuse me?!" Hilary yelled glaring at him "Who said only you two will go?"
"I said!" Tyson yelled back "Didn't you hear?"
"Yes I did! But why will only you two go?"
"Because Kai is the team captain and I am the top-playing blader on this team!"
"And I am the team manager!" Hilary said "So I should also go with you two!"
"No! You won't go!" Tyson yelled.
"Why not?!"
"BECAUSE IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!"
All stood there dumbfounded. Hilary stared at Tyson, jaw dropped with a blank expression. Now, Tyson was feeling really guilty. He didn't mean to do this.
"H-Hils..." He said.
She tilted her face downwards.
"H-Hilary..." He repeated.
"My uncle lives in Osaka. I just wanted to visit him once." She said in a meek voice. "But i-it's okay. I get it." She completed leaving the room.
"You're a real mess Tyson." Kai said walking out of the room.
"It's okay Tys." Ray said trying to soothe Tyson. "We don't have the money after all. We'll talk to her, you guys go."
"Wait a sec." Tyson said as a bulb clicked in his brain "I have the money!"
"What?!" Max asked but Tyson was already out of the door and into his room.
Tyson pulled a drawer and took out a clay-made piggy bank. He shook it briefly to her the jingling sound of coins. Satisfied by the amount on hearing the sound, He let go of it so that it fell on the ground with a big crash.
All the Bladebreakers, including Hilary, went in the room on hearing the crashing sound. They saw Tyson kneeling down and collecting all the coins.
"Tyson?" Kenny asked.
"Look Chief." He answered without looking that Hilary was present there too. "I think this much money is enough to buy a ticket for Hilary also." He said happily looking at the money in his hand.
"T-Tys?" Hilary said.
Tyson turned around in surprise as he didn't know she was present there too.
"I-It's okay. You two go." Hilary said as she went near and kneeled down in front of him. "I can't take this money to buy the ticket."
"Why so?" Tyson said mockingly "We're best friends. And whatever is mine, is yours." He completed with a sincere smile, handing her all the coins.
"I-I don't deserve you, neither all this." She said, eyes welling up with tears.
"You are right Hils." Tyson said with a tone of seriousness "You deserve a friend better than me."
"NO!" Hilary said as a few tears escaped her eyes. She tightly wrapped her arms around his torso, laying her head on his chest as the tears penetrated his yellow T-shirt. He gently wrapped an arm around her back and the other on the nape of her neck, rolling his fingers in her curly locks.
"Don't say so." She said in his T-shirt still weeping "The best thing happened to me is that I met you!"
A few tears escaped his eyes on hearing those words from her. "I'll always be there Hils... Always..."
"Pack your bags if you're done with the drama." Kai said coldly "We're going Osaka."
